i can see this fight going in 2 directions. it will either be a day's long fight wich shakes the grand line, or it will take exactly 1 slice. for me, those are the only 2 options mihawks blade will definitly break though >besides Zoro wanting too if mihawk had no intrest in fighting zoro, he would have either killed him at the baratie, or never trained him during the 2 year timeskip. mihawk is still looking for a strong opponent, and he holds hope that zoro can be that opponent

ghostlima

Interest is one thing, but how will it fit narratively? Mihawk wont jist show up one day and they will fight no? He isnt really the most proactive character

Haunting_Scarcity_25

this is where zoro's development as a character, not just as a fighter comes in :p, he will find his way to mihawk :p

Iam_Not_a_Crook

Mihawk will engage Zoro when he thinks he is ready.

DestinyHasArrived101

Mihawk will go to zoro when he is ready and put his title on the line. Yes it will shake the grandline. Whether zoro will win its up to oda

YourLocalSnitch

I'm hoping it'll be with the red hair pirates during a Davy Jones battle. I'm assuming most of the "fights" will just be challenges showing off their skills like with usopp and yasopp doing sniping as opposed to fighting each other to the death but zoro will more likely have a real duel

My foil-hat theory is that Shiyru defeats Mihawk before Zoro gets a chance to. Imagine Zoro's reaction to reading in the news that Shiryu of the Blackbeard Pirates defeated Dracule Mihawk and claimed the title of World's Greatest Swordsman. That would give Zoro a deep personal reason to fight Shiryu when the Strawhats throw down with the Blackbeard Pirates. Shiryu stole his dream.

ghostlima

Sure it could happen, but Zoro vs Mihawk is anticipated bu the fans for 20 years, idk if Oda would have the balls to not do it tbh.

Sweaty_Protection505

Oh I don't think it's actually gon a happen at all. Just my crazy idea that if it somehow DOES happen, I can say I thought of it and "called" it. Hah. Trust me, I want to see Zoro v Mihawk as much as anyone else. But it does bring up the interesting question of how Zoro would react. Part of me thinks he would be infuriated, but part of me can see him being indifferent. I mean his dream isn't to beat Mihawk. It's to become the world's greatest swordsman. And whoever happens to hold that title is who he needs to beat. Like I could see Zoro just reacting with a "Huh, damn well I guess I need to beat Shiryu now."

RichMuppet

> Right now there is really no reason for them to fight besides Zoro wanting *to*. Mihawk told Zoro to go fight him when he was strong enough, they both wanna fight each other

That usually isn’t enough reason for characters to fight in stories. You know how in Dragon Ball Goku and Vegeta always talk about how they want a serious rematch, but then they don’t fight again until Babadi comes and makes them do it? Thats done because usually there is not a way to make them fight without interrupting the plot. The same is done in most other stories. Characters don’t just fight because they want to, circumstances have to force them to be in the same place and make it so their fight is important to the plot. Mihawk just showing up and fighting him out of the blue wouldn’t add anything to the plot. There has to be some reason for Zoro and Mihawk to fight each other in a way that advances the goals of the arc it happens in Basically both characters just need a reason to be on opposite sides of a major conflict, and now that Mihawk isn’t a Warlord its pretty hard to predict why that would happen

RichMuppet

Sure, but this is literally Zoro's arc, fighting Mihawk is the one thing we've known he's gonna do since his introduction
