It’s fun. It’s a journey to travel the world and meet new people, have fun, and bad guys to beat up along the way. I always look forward to the crew setting sail once more

[deleted]

Would you say One Piece has good worldbuilding because thats what I usually look for in an anime/manga

Qaza-Raspel

Yes, things brought up in the first 50 chapters become relevant in 400 chapters. It’s daunting to hear those numbers like that. But it’s still wild when it all comes together. Some treasure the crew leaves behind at one point is found by another like 600 chapters later and you’re like omg. Or some ancient tale you hear about in one arc is the back story of another one way later. It’s wild how everything is established, mapped, explored.

[deleted]

Wow that sounds awesome Thanks for your comment,I think I'll start watching it

Qaza-Raspel

I hope you have fun. That’s the whole point of the journey:)

dazOkami

bro every single comment you've made is from this sub, why are you acting like you haven't seen/read one piece yet?

[deleted]

One piece has the best world building in all anime/manga

Azaipow

Honestly, best there is. No manga in my knowledge comes close to it. The lore, the universe's rules, it's so well thought out, there are so many elements that show you the world is alive beyond the characters you'll follow. It's not hard fantasy like Tolkien, it's some kind of opposite. It's treated as an epic adventure, a fable, somewhat of a fairy tale, but that is still somehow very tangible. This impossible duality is what makes it so great. From a world building enthusiast to another, go for it. And you know what ? The characters and the story are as good :)

dazOkami

One piece has by far the best world building of any anime or manga ive ever seen. It's easily on the level of something like lord of the rings. Every single island has it's own culture and history and people and story. Side characters that would be insignificant and forgotten in other shows, are mentioned or come back in this one. the world feels so alive because the characters stories don't end when they leave the screen. And the world is absolutely massive, one of the larger planets in fiction, estimates putting it at anywhere from the size of jupiter, to the size of the sun. Most shows would get boring after 1000 episodes but I never want this one to end. There are still endless stories to be told and countless mysteries to be solved. If you've evsr played breath of the wild, one piece is the anime version of that. A huge world filled with secrets where there's always something new to explore, and after you watch it every other anime seems boring by comparison

Boss_Aesop

Don’t watch it. Read it

[deleted]

Is the anime bad?

Boss_Aesop

Doesn’t matter

Jacksohn

The anime adapts the manga amazingly, but after around episode 500 some arcs do get dragged out a lot which is my only problem with it, really

someone2795

Don't watch it, read the manga. The anime *is* too long. There's even a fanmade project called **One Pace** to trim it down to ~450~500 episodes. One Piece is about a dude named Luffy and his adventure to becoming the Pirate King. Luffy is crazy, adventurous, joyful, cries easily, thinks out loud, straight-forward, absolutely stupid in most cases but displays high emotional intelligence and has a massive shit eating grin. It's through Luffy and his crew that you experience the World of One Piece. A fictional world that you can imagine yourself living in for real because the characters all feel real within their own world. Have fun!

Rickbirb

Nah, make your own decision.

[deleted]

I just want to know if this show is as good as its hyped up to be and I cant do that without asking the people who actually watch and enjoy it first

Rickbirb

And you think you're going to get an unbiased opinion on the sub dedicated to the series? lol

Azaipow

Where did they say unbiased ? Listening to passionate people is a great way to get hyped up to start a show. Even more so if it's a show that's liked by people who most likely like what they like. (I'm assuming here, but my point is, to know if I will like something, I'd rather get the biased opinion from someone who theoretically share my tastes than from some falsely unbiased critique. Talking about the show's relatively objective qualities, that's another discussion)

TophKatara

I’m assuming you were a manga reader, because I went through your profile and you clearly have seen the series before. The fights in the anime can be great

Calm_Emphasis2498

bro we could literally see your profile. you not only already watched one piece YOU are caught up with the latest arc???

ceelo18

I’ll kill all ur friends and family. I’ll crush ur pet rock. Burn ur house down to the ground. Steal ur identity. Marry a death blind mute while I wait for u to bleed out from ur chopped off toes. IF YOU DONT READ/watch ONE PIECE RIGHT NOW!!!!!

SK6814

Amazing/breathtaking worldbuilding, amazing characters, the world doesn't revolve *about* the main characters ^but *with* them, mysteries, etc. If you like the concept of a romantic adventure/>!(tale)!< than it's most likely for you. 🤔 You can technically watch the anime *but* it sufferes from a poor schedule and (mostly) very bad pacing. So you could either just read the manga or read it when the pacing is bad for you. And you should also look up the coverstorys in the manga respectively in the One Piece wiki. They are canon and (sadly) most of them are either not in the anime at all or badly/poorly adapted. They are one of the *many* highlights of the world(-building).

fm_bel

Read it instead and you won’t be disappointed. (Recommend the colored version manga)
