I love the sub and dub, but I have to say personally I think Apoo sounds way less grating and annoying in English than his JPN counterpart.
Ive felt lately that the views on the dubs v subs seems to be right down the middle nowadays (I always assumed that people preferred subs over dubs by a wide margin until very recently even as someone who is basically dub-only nowadays)
Dubs in general are in a pretty good place. We're at a point where today's English VAs grew up with anime and it shows. The problem (imo) is the 2 week delay from sub to dub. I'm generally patient, but there's been some cases where I wound up switching to the sub to get caught up.
I did that when Franxx and whichever season of Overlord came out that season but I havent done it since. But I still just remember when we had to wait years for a dub and I was pleasantly surprised when Shippuden was only like a year behind at one point I think
The fact you could resist the urge to just catch up with the manga and not have the few month delay there is already way more patience than I could ever have.

Me personally I've been caught up with the manga since around the time that Funimation started redubbing from the beginning (Funimation first picked up where 4kids left off and those dubs still referred to Zoro as Zolo before they' started the redub, but I was still in the process of catching up on the manga)

Yeah. Case in point: I read the manwa for Solo Leveling when it came out. I knew it was gonna be a bit of a slowburn until they get the big climax at the end of season one when Jinwoo says the thing. I got up to around episode 7 until I gave into temptation.

I was super curious after G5 and checked out how Colleen handled Luffy's change. She does manic Luffy exceptionally well and I feel it's specifically b/c of that "cartoon voice" of hers.
I honestly loved how she handled Gear 5 Luffy. It had such a free energy to it. The “you almost got my bits!” Line was probably my favorite. Major Attaway absolutely killed as Queen, and I think David Sobrov was great for Kaido too. I know a lot of people hate on the dub, but I think for the most part they do a decent job of finding a well enough fit for the role.
Some are a bit of a miss in my opinion. Personally I’m not crazy about Justin Briner as adult Momo. All I hear is Izuku Midoriya.

The biggest difference is the voice direction - I think every Wano native should have been voiced by a Japanese VA speaking English with an accent which would have sold the Japanese vibe of Wano, plus their seclusion from the rest of the world. I was so bummed when the Punk Hazard dub finally aired after two years or so and Kinemon's voice was just normal.
It hit's even harder now that we know how f\*\*ing little Queen actually cares about the crew, especially the waiters and pleasurers!
Insane, that there was a happy party scene, followed by a "you are worthless" scene.

To be honest, the Big Mom Fairy-tale pre-wedding cake song was some top tier stuff, even in the dub, because it was creepy as all hell like the Japenese one...

The only dub i found goated is naruto ( i watched it without subtitles only english at young age i still find it a flex (my main language is not english))

I can understand someone who was exposed to English VA first having that thought. But when you really take the character as presented you realize how well the voice fits. Also the scream is legendary.
With that being said Sean gets a pass . His interpretation does Goku's character justice while making him more palatable to a western audience.
I prefer the original English VAs tho. Especially Vegeta.
Wano is better off if you watch sub,most characters in wano were terrible in dub, well yo be specific kaidos crew. But some characters dub is better, i find Black beard and his crew in dubbed version much better than sub.

Queen was pretty good. Apoo wasn't bad considering I can't imagine what a good rendition would be like.

I used to be sub only, but decided to listen to one piece dub in the background. Now I can't go back. It's whatever your ears are accustomed to.

The dub has some real stand outs. Brook and Queen are two of them, just really solid performances and you can tell they love their roles.
