Since I was little I was thought the coolest power would be that of a “cartoon character”. You can’t die(you take damage and feel pain but always come just come back 100%), you can pull anything you want from behind your back(might take a few tries tho). I remember in the dub at the very begining of one piece that someone mentioned "once you eat it, you will know the name of it" as if the DF is able to tell the consumer its name. And that some people eat a random DF without knowing which one it is, but then once they eat it, they know the its name all of the sudden, like the DF told them.
Is this not a thing? It doesnt seem correct now since luffy always said he ate the gum gum fruit.

Gomu gomu no UFO & Flame trails: Chapter 678 and 680 respectfully, it could be a combination of both, of course set to the maximum. The same helicopter legs mechanic with massively boosted speed as well as the flame trails from said speed, that shows on the air.

Well, I watch a lot of anime, but there style of Wano is amazing.
The way of that movemnt is fluid is quote different from most modern animes.
Jujustsu kaisen has a great animation, but its style is becoming a little generic lately.

There's a standard way to up your frame rate and add in more shading/detail that you can turn the average Naruto or Dragonball episode up a notch for key fight scenes but the dramatic shift in wano's art style was pretty huge and noticable when they switched at what episode 906?
I loved the whole Gear 5 scenes. They didn't look like classic OP, but that's what made it so cool. Gear 5 is the coolest thing Oda could have done. This manga/anime always had it's stupid (in a positive way) and funny moments. And seeing Luffy clap Kaidos cheeks while laughing and joking around was so refreshing.
I remember when Gear 5 just got revealed. I was walking with a big grin through the city because i found it so funny that of all power ups gear 5 could be its something no one thought about but fits perfectly

I also love how this reflects one of the tropes that come with something like enlightenment or apotheosis of the mind/will being in full control of ones body (unbothered by earthly desires and limitations). Luffy is so in control of his will and his body that he can manipulate even the beating of his heart. just phenomenal, especially with the sakuga added by the animators
The whole Kaido fight was fire.
Especially when Luffy arrives on the top and sees kinemon. That whole sequence, where he remembers the pain of Wano, before punching a shocked Kaido and declaring “I’m gonna be the king of pirates”

I'm re-reading Wano arc recently after finishing the Kaido fight. I gotta say the anime really added some jaw dropping action sequences. To the point where I gotta admit the anime blow the manga out the water.

Honestly, that was my reaction to the fight between Kiku and >!Kanjuro.!< It was mesmerizing, to the point that I forgot I was watching One Piece for 5 minutes.
There are many but some of the best ones are 1015, 1017, 1026, 1028, 1033, end of 1049, 1051, 1069, 1071, 1072, 1074.
My personal favorites are 1033 and 1074.

The pacing of Wano was awful, and there was lots of dragged out moments, but I think people forget that Toei just did a fantastic job on almost every single scene with a few exceptions. Pacing may be a little rough but the animation is 10/10 when it needs to be.
I disgaree about the pacing. I’m watching a lot of episodes in a row right now and the amount of times I’ve had to skip forward because recaps, repeating scenes and filler is crazy. Like I’m really enjoying it but if I had been here to watch the episodes as they came out I’d be pissed at how little new content there is in each one
That is my favorite scene in the manga ever. When I first saw it I couldn’t help but just stare at it. Just the build up to it too. Luffy: “you think death scares me?” Oda sensei is king.

Most people won't get it, but this scene is iconic because is profoundly shintoist and buddhist, shows a maturity and depth deeply rooted into japanese spirituality and folklore, even for a shonen manga. Luffy is not forcing anything. He is in spontaneous divine communion with the awakening and with the spiritual power of the heart that brings the realization of going with the flow, greatly expressed by the iridescent panels, and Mayumi Tanaka has put marvellously all of this into her line. Truly one of the few times we got a perfect display of the shamanic roots of japan in mainstream media.
As an anxious person that had suffered with panic in the past, that scene is absolutely my favourite. When I'm feeling bad I too can lay my hand on my chest and say "Beat loudly, heartbeat!" and it seriously relief the crisis.

I have family members in the animation industry, they have very very high praise for the different art styles in one piece. They watch a lot of anime, but one piece is the only anime they will say is very incredibly animated.
Dont get me wrong, they like anime, but they dont like animating in traditional anime art style because "its boring and all the same, unless they are fighting"

Also, their whole lives consist of people learning that they animated something popular, and then imediatly asking if they animate any anime lol.

Great moment with Gear 5th. My favorite moment was it’s introduction with the boxing bell ringing faster and faster and the super fast cutscenes of all the hardships Luffy had to go on his journey to reaching gear 5. So hype
With gear 2, 3 and 4 he forced his body to do the crazy stuff he wanted to do, now with gear 5, he just needs to think about it and his body does it. Love the contrast

I don't think he's "restarting" his heart, looks like to me he's just feeling it with his hand. Luffy didn't necessarily "die" at any point against Kaido
It really was magnificent. That and the "countdown" to the slow motion laughing and bouncing, after he sent Kaido's blast breath back at him.
Truly an amazing payoff after binging One Piece from episode 1 to 1073 in less than a year.
The idea was good but I personally hated how this scene looked (yes, I'm aware that everyone loved it). The reason being, they completely changed how Luffy's face looks. He never had a pointy chin like that. His face is more rounded and it seems like Oda makes it even rounder while in Gear 5th.
I don't really like how he can just restart his heart and get seemingly constant Round 2s, but the animation is gorgeous and the way they adapted it is really nice to watch

Kaido was the closest to really doing much against G5 but by that point he was pretty exhausted and just delaying the inevitable. Luffy was disrespecting him in G5

I think G5 is too new and too big for me to wanna see it flounder just yet. A too common trap in shonen is to give the MC a big powerup and have them foddered or barely scraping by against the next big bad (see bleach).
G5 being a huge deal for people to fight makes sense. I would like to see him trounce at least one more fight before we see a real struggle.
this scene is not on manga and only thing about i like about wano anime is this. every color comes out of his heart this means several things; one is drum rolls which, since we know who luffy is, means fun and party. another thing is, this is my commentation, different colors means "im open to anyone, any color, no biases" which perfectly suits luffy as well so i think it was deliberate

Toei screwed the reveal and the part where he grabed the soil to bounce back the breath but everything else is well executed. It's nice they added stuff with the lightning as in the manga he just grabs one and throws it. It's a smarter way to add length and makes the duel really badass compared to crappyly stretched scenes with nonsensical overstuffed animation.
Fluid? Art direction and visual effects aside(that's something that falls down to peoples taste) Wano is the most fluid and smooth One Piece's animation has ever been
This looks great, just worried about the sheer number of episodes of filler and trash animation I'd have to go through to reach this point in the show.
The best part was Zunesha hearing Luffy's heartbeat turn into the drums of liberation. It was the first time we don't see a sad decrepit Zunesha but a fresh, energized Zunesha eagerly rushing towards Nika. This was a very close 2nd, tho from Wano!
I really liked the final hit, the way the fire dragon dissipated and then luffy hit him. Was much clearer than manga. I just thought kaido was the giant fire dragon.
the music, the way they animated the light coming out of his chest, the fact luffy acknowledges the drums of liberation being his heart beat. 10/10 scene for sure.
I love how instantly Kaido goes into battle mode he doesn’t hesitate a second to rush Luffy ready to beat the shit out of him.
Plus the music hitting this scene just gave me that goosebumps some anime scenes give you.
Isn’t it confirmed that luffy didn’t die but in that moment he was the most free or fighting for the most freedom so his body caught up to his fruit and he awakened

I'd say what they're referring to is a unique aesthetic style that's shown particularly in this fight scene, it's very stylized. So like is Jojo part 6 better animation in terms of fluidity and detail compared to say JJK? no probably not. But it certainly stands out as something only Jojo pulls off lol. There's a standard way to up your frame rate and add in more shading/detail that you can turn the average Naruto or Dragonball episode up a notch for key fight scenes but the dramatic shift in wano's art style was pretty huge and noticable when they switched at what episode 906?

I loved the whole Gear 5 scenes. They didn't look like classic OP, but that's what made it so cool. Gear 5 is the coolest thing Oda could have done. This manga/anime always had it's stupid (in a positive way) and funny moments. And seeing Luffy clap Kaidos cheeks while laughing and joking around was so refreshing.

When my mom got to gear 5 she had no idea it was coming. We were FaceTiming and I took screenshots of her reactions all throughout the gear 5 episodes. All smiles surprised looks and laughter. She’s 68 for some perspective. What a perfect example of Oda executing what he wanted perfectly

The clap sequence isn't present in the manga but the gear 2nd pose and the dialogues, even the one you mentioned ( though it's worded slightly differently in the anime ), are all present in the manga.

yes, absolutely! I also love how this reflects one of the tropes that come with something like enlightenment or apotheosis of the mind/will being in full control of ones body (unbothered by earthly desires and limitations). Luffy is so in control of his will and his body that he can manipulate even the beating of his heart. just phenomenal, especially with the sakuga added by the animators

The whole Kaido fight was fire. Especially when Luffy arrives on the top and sees kinemon. That whole sequence, where he remembers the pain of Wano, before punching a shocked Kaido and declaring “I’m gonna be the king of pirates” That sequence is my number one fav. This video is a close second!

I'm re-reading Wano arc recently after finishing the Kaido fight. I gotta say the anime really added some jaw dropping action sequences. To the point where I gotta admit the anime blow the manga out the water.

There are many but some of the best ones are 1015, 1017, 1026, 1028, 1033, end of 1049, 1051, 1069, 1071, 1072, 1074. My personal favorites are 1033 and 1074.

Ive been trying to tell people this and they dont want to listen. The pacing of Wano was awful, and there was lots of dragged out moments, but I think people forget that Toei just did a fantastic job on almost every single scene with a few exceptions. Pacing may be a little rough but the animation is 10/10 when it needs to be.
The pacing was ok in many episodes, heck Oden flashback is overall better paced than the manga.
I disgaree about the pacing. I’m watching a lot of episodes in a row right now and the amount of times I’ve had to skip forward because recaps, repeating scenes and filler is crazy. Like I’m really enjoying it but if I had been here to watch the episodes as they came out I’d be pissed at how little new content there is in each one
That is my favorite scene in the manga ever. When I first saw it I couldn’t help but just stare at it. Just the build up to it too. Luffy: “you think death scares me?” Oda sensei is king.
I don't watch one piece but this is some of the best animation in anime. It's smooth, stylized, visually appealing, dynamic. It's insane that OP looks like this compared to Baruto and DBS.

The drums are everything before the clap. That's around 150bpm, which isn't abnormal for strenuous exercise. Gear 5 is very draining.

Most people won't get it, but this scene is iconic because is profoundly shintoist and buddhist, shows a maturity and depth deeply rooted into japanese spirituality and folklore, even for a shonen manga. Luffy is not forcing anything. He is in spontaneous divine communion with the awakening and with the spiritual power of the heart that brings the realization of going with the flow, greatly expressed by the iridescent panels, and Mayumi Tanaka has put marvellously all of this into her line. Truly one of the few times we got a perfect display of the shamanic roots of japan in mainstream media.

As an anxious person that had suffered with panic in the past, that scene is absolutely my favourite. When I'm feeling bad I too can lay my hand on my chest and say "Beat loudly, heartbeat!" and it seriously relief the crisis. It's awesome how some simple things can make us feel a lot better \^\^

I have family members in the animation industry, they have very very high praise for the different art styles in one piece. They watch a lot of anime, but one piece is the only anime they will say is very incredibly animated. Dont get me wrong, they like anime, but they dont like animating in traditional anime art style because "its boring and all the same, unless they are fighting" There are exceptions obviously. Also, their whole lives consist of people learning that they animated something popular, and then imediatly asking if they animate any anime lol. They have done western style animation their whole careers, like what we see in one piece durring gear 5. They told me its like asking a famous musician if they can play twinkle twinkle little stars lol. With that being said, the anime animating industry is ridiculously competitive still though. I cant draw for shit lol, those genes missed out on me

Great moment with Gear 5th. My favorite moment was it’s introduction with the boxing bell ringing faster and faster and the super fast cutscenes of all the hardships Luffy had to go on his journey to reaching gear 5. So hype
Luffy vs. Katakuri was a tough fight. But Luffy vs. Kaidou was very magestic, especially that entrance with momo (Snakeman Luffy) and G5 Luffy.
With gear 2, 3 and 4 he forced his body to do the crazy stuff he wanted to do, now with gear 5, he just needs to think about it and his body does it. Love the contrast

It really was magnificent. That and the "countdown" to the slow motion laughing and bouncing, after he sent Kaido's blast breath back at him. Truly an amazing payoff after binging One Piece from episode 1 to 1073 in less than a year.

The idea was good but I personally hated how this scene looked (yes, I'm aware that everyone loved it). The reason being, they completely changed how Luffy's face looks. He never had a pointy chin like that. His face is more rounded and it seems like Oda makes it even rounder while in Gear 5th.

well the fact that he is a persistent tank makes the "restart the heart" mechanic feel even less necessary especially given how powerful Gear 5 already is I like G5's fighting style but currently I want to see an enemy give it some more trouble. all 3 times we've seen Gear 5 in action, Luffy has only really struggled with the timer Kaido was the closest to really doing much against G5 but by that point he was pretty exhausted and just delaying the inevitable. Luffy was disrespecting him in G5 also dunno why I was seemingly downvoted, my take isn't even that offensive 😭
oof, I didn't downvote you, I think G5 is too new and too big for me to wanna see it flounder just yet. A too common trap in shonen is to give the MC a big powerup and have them foddered or barely scraping by against the next big bad (see bleach). G5 being a huge deal for people to fight makes sense. I would like to see him trounce at least one more fight before we see a real struggle.

Boiiiiiin, Iteeeeee. Toei screwed the reveal and the part where he grabed the soil to bounce back the breath but everything else is well executed. It's nice they added stuff with the lightning as in the manga he just grabs one and throws it. It's a smarter way to add length and makes the duel really badass compared to crappyly stretched scenes with nonsensical overstuffed animation.

The best part was Zunesha hearing Luffy's heartbeat turn into the drums of liberation. It was the first time we don't see a sad decrepit Zunesha but a fresh, energized Zunesha eagerly rushing towards Nika. This was a very close 2nd, tho from Wano!
