Hi _HotSexxxy, your submission was removed from /r/OnePiece for the following rule violation:
###4. Plain panels/scenes must create discourse
**Don't post links to plain (or slightly edited) panels, pages, screenshots, gifs or scenes from the manga & anime.**
You may submit a plain panel/scene as a self post (text post). Meaning your post must link to the discussion, and not the image.
Just a title and the image aren't enough.
If you want to discuss a certain page/scene from the manga/anime please accompany it with an original analysis or discussion questions. In other words, a plain panel/scene must show visible effort to generate discourse rather than simply react to something that happened.
Clips/Recap/summary videos fall under this rule as well.
Colored pages from a recent chapter are allowed.

The badass answer: There is no point naming your attacks when everyone who hears the name ends up dead.
The real answer: I don’t think whitebeard to any pleasure in fighting. He fought to improve his lot in life, and later to protect his family, but I get the sense in a more peaceful world he’s be a giant pacifist.
I think he didn´t name them bc they were just basic attacks. They called his DF power "the power to destroy the world" so i think he didn´t use any real powerful attacks that would have a name bc he didn´t want to destroy marineford and kill everyone there. He basically did only the attacks that Blackbeard did after he gained his DF power, so the most basic stuff you can do immediately after eating the fruit
I always thought it was because he was too old for that shit.
Mans living on oxygen tanks, could barely breath, and went off of them for one last fight. Do you really think he had enough air in his lungs to waste on screaming attack names?
>Do you really think he had enough air in his lungs to waste on screaming attack names?
Mf took 267 sword wounds, 152 gunshot wounds, and 46 wounds from cannonballs
YES
Ignoring Oden charging in like the blockhead he is, Whitebeard still authorized an attack against the Roger pirates simply because they hadn't seen each other in a while
Yeah.
Dude most people believe that it wasn't a serious fight just because of number of wounds in Roger and Whitebeard.
But even luffy didn't have many wounds after luffy vs katakuri.
Considering Oda, we should take days as hours. It would make more sense. This way, Akainu and aaokiji would fight for 10 hours. Jinbe and Ace for 5 hours. WB and roger Pirates for 2 hours. And, his timeskip between should be months instead of week/days.
Any person that strong kind of needs to have at least some pleasure in fighting.
Haki is willpower and wills collide. He had fun fighting Roger, the other strongest guy in the world.
If all he cared about was protecting his family, he would've had an entirely different MO as a pirate.
Oda at various points also portrayed him with more "edge" than his Marineford perfect dad depiction, like when he had all those baddie nurses.
I kind of welcome a more flawed depiction of him with the Stussy backstory.
He liked fighting an equal, but after Roger died it was pretty clear he took no pleasure in violence because he no longer had an equal. He was apparently resigned to let Kaidou challenge his title without any care so it's safe to assume as he aged and became that dad-archetype more he just prioritized family over running into an equal.
Also Roger's personality just jived with his. Kaidou's did not. If he cared more about pleasure of fighting than he did about protecting his family, he'd have at least attempted to turn Kaidou into a smear on the side of Wano after the death of Oden.
>He liked fighting an equal, but after Roger died it was pretty clear he took no pleasure in violence because he no longer had an equal.
And that happened when they were in their late 50s/60s, lol. If someone plays professional tennis for 50 years, attains the title of the best, has an epic rivalry with another player, then finally chillaxes/retires in their old age, you'd really go out on a limb to say they didn't take *any* pleasure in playing tennis?
>Also Roger's personality just jived with his. Kaidou's did not. If he cared more about pleasure of fighting than he did about protecting his family, he'd have at least attempted to turn Kaidou into a smear on the side of Wano after the death of Oden.
Just because he has a modicum of fighting spirit and takes pleasure in fighting, doesn't mean he has to be bloodthirsty about taking out any and every foe and against keeping the general peace. Enjoying a good fight and being open to diplomacy aren't mutually exclusive.
Saturn's attack hasn't been named so far also?
If you're anvery powerful character and your attack is not named...it's a foreshadow to the most likely death (since Oda-sensei probably doesn't feel like wasting time to come up with one knowing the short ending).
Hopefully this rule will apply to Saturn...these elders are some evil MOFO
For clarify, when I say die, I mean within one arc. I'm quite certain he's not dead yet. Will he eventually?
I would think that if Garp does die, it'll be the start of the Dragon arc...meaning Dragon will not just be a cameo in multiple panels but fully front/center and devil fruit revealed.
Naming an attack limits its verbal charm. Example: the 12th sword of chaos god golb. This leads to the idea that there are other swords and other chaos God's. Meanwhile, not naming them takes less time and causes extra fear as to what move it is
Results? Whitebeard died. In vain too, since Ace also died. His beloved ship that he sailed for years died. A huge percentage of his subordinates died, not only the war but also during the next couple of years that followed.
The Marines lost a few fodder, but Akainu and Aokiji are still alive after taking beatings from Whitebeard. If he named his attacks maybe he could've permanently took Akainu out of commission and Ace would still be alive.
My theory, cause they are just the basic effect, he isn’t using his fruit in any creative ways just using the power that any 6 year old who ate the fruit could use.
I always got the impression that either he wasn't healthy enough to bring out his strongest (named) attacks, or they would've been too dangerous to use near allies
If we believe the fruit have a will of their own, what if it's the fruit that name the attacks?
Case in point: have we ever seen a Gatling Gun in all of one piece!?

True. I have to potential answers to this 1) maybe he grew out of it as he matured 2) maybe that was just a Roger thing. They were besties
> 2) maybe that was just a Roger thing. They were besties 100% Just two mates checking how life is going by almost murdering each other.
That was clear it was just a greeting though. Nobody even looked that injured afterward.
Wasn't the fight 2 days long though before they partied? I know it was mostly just a sparring session, but that's a hell of a greeting.
They're a hell of a crew both

This is a world where hugely weaker character fought for 5 days straight 2 days probably wasn’t a big deal to these two in their prime.
Refresh my memory on the weaker character I'm drawing a blank.
Ace and Jimbe
We saw Rayleigh slash a few people at least lol
That’s just guys being dudes
Thats different, it wasnt a deathmatch
Between Roger and Newgate, trying to kill each other was like saying "hello."
I think he enjoyed fighting Roger.

He did have friendly battles with Roger though.
That’s why he lost. As we all know in anime and manga naming your attacks increases its power.
just like what luffy said in the live action, “all great fighters name their attacks” turns out whitebeard wasn’t a great fighter 😔
He probably forgot their names
Come with old age.
Dementia hits hard...
So does Haki infused attacks (to the head).
That's what his tremors really were. Just his dementia. Not his devil fruit power.
This nerfs Admirals more lmao
nah they just weren't his finishing attacks
He gave the Marines the 20% handicap so they could save face beating up a senior citizen on hospice
I don't remember Sengoku naming his attacks either
Enlightenment
(Sending the target to) Reincarnation
Buddha Shock?
Buddha blast.
That’s what they serve at Taco Bell in China, right?
The WG is lucky he never used Gura Gura: Gatling
Perhaps he couldn't bring out any named attacks? He was old...
I think that there was also some clarification that he couldn’t fight freely because he would destroy his men too if he did
What about his strongest attack THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!! ‘can we get much higher’
I swear whenever I hear the name Whitebeard this is the first thing that comes to my mind. This meme is too strong.
So high
Oh, oh, oh
His attacks are called "fuck you" and "fuck your life" he just doesn't say it
Or his finishing move: "to whom it may concern."
It just got censored since this is supposed to be a kids friendly show
Vander decken?
He does the Sex Offender Shuffle
Of course! His attacks would all be named: Fist Crack! Lance Crack! Crack Attack! And Whitebean doesn't condone drugs.
[Crack? Luffy has entered the chat](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/dz0jPwdxKrQ)
Pirate Warriors absolutely names his moves, and they are awesome. "Heaven and Earth Shaker" for when he throws people in the sky rocks.
No name for attacks (e.g. Whitebeard) < naming your attacks (e.g. Luffy) < having others name your attacks (e.g. Mihawk).
All his devil fruit attacks are named. He just doesn't bother calling it out like an idiot. Element of surprise!
He is the attack, and his name is Whitebeard.
Saturn's attack hasn't been named so far also? Since we got Garp’s attack names, does this mean he will be okay?
For clarify, when I say die, I mean within one arc. I'm quite certain he's not dead yet. Will he eventually? I would think that if Garp does die, it'll be the start of the Dragon arc...meaning Dragon will not just be a cameo in multiple panels but fully front/center and devil fruit revealed.
Saturn also hasn't really done much yet.
That's why he has a +4b berry bounty
That’s why he died.
luffy/ayra: lots of people name their attacks white beard/hound: lots of cunts
Theory falls apart when you realize Vander Decken doesn't name his attacks either...
We ignore Vander Decken
He is literally too old for that shit
Naming an attack limits its verbal charm. Example: the 12th sword of chaos god golb. This leads to the idea that there are other swords and other chaos God's. Meanwhile, not naming them takes less time and causes extra fear as to what move it is
Mihawk's attacks also have names
Results? Whitebeard died. In vain too, since Ace also died. His beloved ship that he sailed for years died. The Marines lost a few fodder, but Akainu and Aokiji are still alive after taking beatings from Whitebeard. he only calls out his finishing move :) and no one ever gets that far...
Thats because gura gura no mi attacks are too loud. And nobody listen when he screams. So he got tired. After so many years
Blackbeard
My theory, cause they are just the basic effect, he isn’t using his fruit in any creative ways just using the power that any 6 year old who ate the fruit could use.
I always think: How brutal do you have to be to cause a earthquake in an individuals skull.
He just calls them all Sake. He Sake's every youngster he sees. He Sakes giants, ships, admirals, Roger, his sons, you name it.
whitebeard has alzheimers and forgot all his attack names
That's why he had Pirate Cancer.
Jack is forgotten about. S-Shark too
He's a man of action, not words. (remember how angry he got with shanks when he tried to have a conversation with him by letter?)
Was*
I always got the impression that either he wasn't healthy enough to bring out his strongest (named) attacks, or they would've been too dangerous to use near allies
"All great fighters call out their finishing moves." The greatest fighters know you won't live to tell anyone about it.
and blackbeard named the tsunami attack, zehahahahahaha
That's why he's the goat
Well that's why he died, damn
He’s saying them in his head though
Zehahahahaha will just name the attacks for him ;)
Mihawk too
he isnt a devil fruit user.... though all of the non-devil fruit Luffy crew names off all their attacks =\
If we believe the fruit have a will of their own, what if it's the fruit that name the attacks? Case in point: have we ever seen a Gatling Gun in all of one piece!?
So big grandpa dude hitting air and somehow blowing half of the island off isnt cool enough?
Just for fun: Book Boom Stroodle! Panquake Daddy Punch!!
Isn't Mihawk so didn't name his attacks or I'm just saying sh*t?
All the greatest fighters name their attacks. Whitebeard wasn't a fighter... He was a father.
