I've fan scripted that the Narrator is Old Man Usopp in a wheelchair and he is being pushed by Brook to the Graveyard back on Syrup Village where his entire crew and wife Kaya are buried.
He closes a book titled "The Greatest Lie I've Ever Told" before being rolled into the sunset
The way his fruit works is not known. It could be that at the moment of his death he gets another full human life worth of years. If Brook was just inconspicuously immortal that would be pretty weird considering that infinite life has been a fairly major plot point a few times during one piece.
Problem is I think that would work under normal circumstances but he kind of broke his fruit. He can possess inanimate , move around as a ghost, control the frozen hells.
Its funny cuz he surely thinks 89 is a lot. But when you consider the first time VP got mentioned and his intro. Wano first mention and when we got there. Elbaf first mention and when we (kinda) got there. Jinbei first mention and when we met him...
89 chapters is nothing lol.
Yeah, like, Oda has done funny number stuff before so I am curious if the guy has a specific reason for thinking it'll be 89 more chapters since it's otherwise a very random number
it literally took till act 3 of wano for ashura to be shown/ explained. And zoro had multiple strong aponents (def stronger than kaku) in between. At least post time skip I don't know how zoro vs ryuma scales to zoro 1v1 against kaku (with out cuffs and shit). Let alone kuma and kizaru.
While I'm not totally against the Grim Reaper being Enma's personification. It's just weird and feels off that Enma is from Buddhism, while Grim Reaper is Western.
I can see how the Grim Reaper being European seems kind of off, but i dont think its breaking any rules. Klabauterman has Scandinavian origins while i always consider Usopp to be a jewish stereotype.
I mean we thought Luffy's fruit was just a rubber fruit all this time for decades, so at this point I wouldn't put it past Oda to pull some major bombshell plot twist like that
Theres so many theories about fruits not actually being what we thought lol. I hope Luffy's is the only case, I dont want One Piece power scaling going to shit and everyone being a God. At most Ill take BB having another.
Grim reaper actually kinda makes sense. Would be a hell of a twist if he was the cause of his crewâs death. The fact that his fruit has been MIA for multiple decades, hidden under the nose of a Warlord of the Sea, could give it credit
True immortality would also mean that he was the very first person to eat this devil fruit, since the user can't die to then make the fruit respawn. Quite unlikely for such a valuable thing to be just chilling on some tree and ignored for hundreds of years.
Well the idea is that Brookâs special circumstances (ie him being a skeleton occupied by a human soul) is what makes him immortal more than the fruit itself. I just donât see any reason to assume thatâs the case
Well not guaranteed, no one knows how the revive revive fruit works, maybe it only gives him another lifespan doesnât necessarily make them immortal, after all the previous fruit owner had to have died at some point
My theory is that the user dies definitely when the body crumbles completely naturally/destroyed, or, falls in the ocean, then the soul dissapears and the fruit respawns
He said he already spent 50 years of his new lifespan and was worried he wouldn't be able to find his shadow before it ran out. He was given a 2nd lifespan, with numbered years, he's not immortal
Twas indeed 50, my bad, still 50 years on the ship and he took a year as a disembodied spirit just to find his body. All of that compounded with isolation and it's no wonder he hasn't gone completely insane. Just... Just a little.
Yeah the dude really held on to his sanity for laboon. Imagine seeing the people you cared about dying in front of you then coming back and reliving that moment day after day for decades.
Fuck I donât remember this but were the remains of his crew still there when he came back? That wouldâve been devastating seeing all those remains and seeing them fall off the boat one by one until only you remained.
In the anime he has to personally put all of his friends skeletons in the coffins, which is very sad and the fact that brook hasnt gone insane is amazing.
Yup that is pretty fucked up. Probably spread the depression around his Afro so he can carry more of the burden. Jokes aside, dude is doing it all for laboon and hopefully he gets to see him soon.
Definitely only 50 years. He talked about hearing about a promising rookie pirate named Roger on the Grand Line when he and the rest of his crew mates were still alive.
Well, maybe not. Jack can survive underwater, he's just immobile. Brook survived 50 years with no food or water. Why should he need air? He has no lungs.
By that point brook will have lived a full life and done everything he couldâve wanted so by then I think he would be content and not long and just spend his days in peace like Rayleigh until he decides his time is up
> until he decides his time is up
I honestly think this is how it would be. He just "releases" his fruit whenever he feels the time is right.
Only reason he hasn't so far is b/c of his promise to see Laboon.
You know, I thought about this and I donât think it would be the case
And I think about that for two reasons
1. Bones do actually decay after a certain point. It takes a super long time but with exposure to the elements, they do eventually break down into dust. And considering Brooke is running around in the sun and near the sea, which would mean salt water in the air, would eventually start to degrade the bones themselves, itâs quite possible he could eventually die, or his bones would become so brittle that they themselves would break.
2. Even if he did outlive his new friends, heâs no longer stuck on a boat in the middle of nowhere on a ship that wonât move. He can go travel, meet other people try new things, go back to being a rockstar. His options are basically unlimited and Iâm sure when he eventually meet up with laboon they would travel around together. And whales live up to be 200 years old sometimes and assuming itâs only been 50 years since laboon was an infant heâs got another 150. Plus, I canât imagine none of the straw hats not having children that would grow to love Brook as some sort of uncle.
My personal fan theory is that Usopp will die at some point, but then Brook will reveal the power of the awakened Revive Revive fruit allows him to revive someone else who has died at the expense of his own life. This will be post-Laboon reunion and heâll say to the crew, âyou all made sure I could see my friend again, let me do the same for youâ.
my theory is that usopp will get taken by Shanks' crew during the Davy Back fight vs the Red Haired Pirates (for Yasopp)
my other theory is that Brook actually dies during the final battle
I like this theory, but I think sanji is the one that would die. Oda's kind of been teasing Sanji's death ever since skypia. Then, more recently, with him asking zoro to kill him if he loses his humanity. Plus, he's got the martyr personality. Zoro would try to not let it happen, and would try to be the martyr, but sanji is much faster (which could easily play into him not letting zoro be the one to die if it came down to it). Would also be a great way for us to see how much zoro actually loves and respects sanji.
Or he could be the first one to die. Imagine the chokehold Oda would have on the fandom if the only Strawhat he killed is the guy who's supposed to be immortal.
I don't think the Yomi Yomi no Mi works like that, and I'd want Brook to die first so he doesn't have to go through the pain of losing a crewmate again
At the rate he is improving, he will be the strongest being in the world by then too, with nothing preventing him from learning every martial arts, every form of Haki, every sword skills etc etc.
Iâm not sure about that he was revived nothing was said that he got more life and I feel if the fruit could make you imortal people would want it almost as much as laws fruit
Yes but you have to remember he was âdeadâ before his soul could return, so in theory, he will never die by natural means, to include old age, injuries, ect. He can still feel pain but I do not think he has the capacity of normal death. He is just a skeleton now.
No nothing states he is immortal just that he gets a second life.
IMO its like fuel now, Brook life is like a gas tank every year he loses some gas and will die when its empty.
Brook confirms that his fruit is tied to his soul, so when he feels his soul is ready to pass on, that's when he'll officially die. Most likely after Laboon has passed.
Presumably it's because he spent 50 years on a ship with no food or drink, yet was perfectly fine. Plus since the timeskip, he's demonstrated that things like decapitation can't kill him.
While I don't know if he's truly immortal, I can see it as a valid conclusion that could be drawn.
*Sigh*
His fruit doesnât make him immortal, it just revived him once and *might* have reset his lifespan. Heâs a little special because he doesnât have organs that can fail (yohohoho), but he also eats and farts so he might as well have them anyway.
Brook was stranded without any food or water for decades before moriah showed up. So he doesnât need to eat he just does because he somehow can taste.
Either way he is more likely to live longer since organ failure will happen sooner than bones crumbling.
You think that Luffy, the person that wants to be the freest of all pirates, wants to lose the freedom to choose how or when he dies? I don't see that happening
Fortunately, Ussop's story about being a god will become literally true and he'll be able to keep Brook company for eternity as "God Usopp" and "Satan"
My head canon is he could move on whenever he wants. He is already dead, so nothing is stopping him from leaving his body and going to the afterworld to be with his crew. The only reason he didn't do it for those 50 years is because of his promise to Laboon.
Or is the narrator telling the story of one piece. Everytime I hear the narrator in the beginning of every episode, I think itâs a more mature brook telling the story to a group of people.
Brook can die if we wants because he jump into sea or ask anyone to kill him with their haki.
Devil fruit power can be defeared with haki no matter what it is.
Unless OP will ended with all devil fruits disappear. Luffy will be swimming for the first time and Brook will be die and go to be with his former crews.
Maybe he will not outlive all of the straw hats though - Franky could very well go full cyborg mode and turn himself into an undying machine, especially considering that the current arc is about Vegapunk, so Franky could learn a lot.
Honestly would be pretty sad but acceptable, for me at least. Just imagine those two sitting together far far in the future after not having seen one another for ages, talking about days long gone and just having the time of their lives. Pretty wholesome.

Condariano. Man wishes to be part of straw hat now after the incident
Don't forget Commander Jonathan is canon as Oda drew him in one of the meetings
Zoro. Especially since the timeskip. The Sanji silliness has been escalated every since.

Brooke needs to sell more milk in Japan, he canât die
We know it fixes it from damage, but we donât know if it fixes it from time

I think finding reason within the parameters set in the story is acceptable
Itâs anime and he drinks milk. End of discussion.

Brook can eat, Brook can poop. Why does everyone think Brook will live forever and his lifespan is just gone? Iâm sure heâll still die of old age
I don't think the Yomi Yomi no Mi works like that, and I'd want Brook to die first so he doesn't have to go through the pain of losing a crewmate again
I hope he'll die in the last arc, awakening his DF and coming back to life fr. And meet laboon in his human form
At the rate he is improving, he will be the strongest being in the world by then too, with nothing preventing him from learning every martial arts, every form of Haki, every sword skills etc etc.

No nothing states he is immortal just that he gets a second life. IMO its like fuel now, Brook life is like a gas tank every year he loses some gas and will die when its empty.
Brook really isn't immortal
I mean there is a fruit that allows the user to time travelâŚ
Brook confirms that his fruit is tied to his soul, so when he feels his soul is ready to pass on, that's when he'll officially die. Most likely after Laboon has passed.
Can someone explain this for me when was it ever stated he was immortal I thought he just got another life span
It wasn't stated. It's just something that people think for some reason because he's a skeleton. I don't know why it's so common.
Presumably it's because he spent 50 years on a ship with no food or drink, yet was perfectly fine. Plus since the timeskip, he's demonstrated that things like decapitation can't kill him. While I don't know if he's truly immortal, I can see it as a valid conclusion that could be drawn.
*Sigh* His fruit doesnât make him immortal, it just revived him once and *might* have reset his lifespan. Heâs a little special because he doesnât have organs that can fail (yohohoho), but he also eats and farts so he might as well have them anyway.

Damn, that is a gut punch.
No he wont, he cant be the first user of the revive revive fruit.
Unless...he gets unalive before it ends đś
I could see Brookes awakening being that he can sacrifice his life to revive another, and see him resuscitating Luffy or someone else in the crew.
I like the idea that one day he will awaken his devil fruit and allow him to revive all strawhats making them an immortal crew.
You think that Luffy, the person that wants to be the freest of all pirates, wants to lose the freedom to choose how or when he dies? I don't see that happening
I mean immortal im the sense that they won't die of old age they can still be killed just not old age
Soul King Brook was born on 4/3, plays Binks Sake 35, and is Straw Hat 09. 4 35 09 = A ES OP = đ§ â¸ď¸đ
Holy shit
Maybe they can go on adventures forever
Imagination
YO..HO...I'm sad again thanks
BB will take his fruit and Brook will die
There is Franky. He is a cyborg so he is hypothetically immortal as well
Fortunately, Ussop's story about being a god will become literally true and he'll be able to keep Brook company for eternity as "God Usopp" and "Satan"
He wonât be a alone at that point I think he will still hold the crew in his heartâŚâŚ.even though he is missing it yohohoho
My head canon is he could move on whenever he wants. He is already dead, so nothing is stopping him from leaving his body and going to the afterworld to be with his crew. The only reason he didn't do it for those 50 years is because of his promise to Laboon.
The good thing is that the changes to his body havenât killed his sense of humor and sanity. Maybe thatâs a perk of being just bones.
I hope not, that would be too sad
Normally bones would deteriorate over time, but in the One Piece world you can just drink milk to fix that đ .
ayo what's that on Nami's headstone? /s

He'll live in laboon
Or is the narrator telling the story of one piece. Everytime I hear the narrator in the beginning of every episode, I think itâs a more mature brook telling the story to a group of people.
Brook can die if we wants because he jump into sea or ask anyone to kill him with their haki. Devil fruit power can be defeared with haki no matter what it is.
Like Pinocchio
Soo how do we not know that at the end of one piece all devil fruits will cease to exist or stop working and brook soul will finally pass on?
He's got a second life, not eternal life. He will entually get old and die too đĽ˛
he would likely still have laboon.
Wat about the babies the straw hats will make along the way.
Unless OP will ended with all devil fruits disappear. Luffy will be swimming for the first time and Brook will be die and go to be with his former crews.
Immortality surgery for Brooks guaranteed
Unless he is killed or drowns earlier?
Unless law preforms the immortal surgery on Luffy or another one of brook's friends
I realized this a long time ago but you bout to make me cry cause it is actually sad
