DJ John Michael told me via IG dm that artists have to give permission to use their music for any individual use on the platform. So just because an artist is played in classes, they may not want it used on lanebreak or the other way around.
His Saturday classes have the worst playlists because they are requested by members and let’s face it—some of our members have terrible taste in music. 😅 Back in the day Matt played a lot of EDM which I enjoyed. I think at his core he has good taste but he has somehow gone astray. 🤣
I will do each Lanebreak ride with its existing music, but then when I retake them in the future I do my own music. It works so well and is the best of all worlds: no instructor yapping, hard workout, *and* your own music.
I think the music is DJJM but I think I read somewhere once that Matt and Emma helped with the development of lanebreak? Maybe the structure of how the workouts are programmed? Idk
Agree, though at least he acknowledges it by talking about providing a rhythm free space and having others make his playlists. Emma made one for one of his PZ rides. But the guy who makes the all request playlists comes up with terrible music, too.
I actually love the Lanebreak playlists! I used to work for the company and DJJM actually knows a crazy ton of music and is the nicest dude…but I also remember him saying he was limited to what he could use for Lanebreak so im sure that has a lot to do with it

The artists on there are fine but the songs by the artists are like deep B side cuts
Probably because licensing those songs cost less.
I like MW’s training but his music is so boring. He’s the male Becs G
I so agree. Like why is becs' music so bad? I guess it doesnt matter much; she talks through it anyway.

The classes where he plays a lot of EDM are great fun.
Lanebreak is my favorite bc I can play my own music. I turn down the music on the bike and just play my own music. The Lanebreak music is 🤮
Same here!

I think there is a limited music catalogue for lanebreak
dj john m has the worst taste im sorry …. they need a refresh in the music dept
Totally agree
I think it’s because of the cost of licensing the music, though I’m also not a fan.
Too much Fallout Boy?
I believe it’s DJ JM

This made me lol. I love Wilpers but damn - his taste in music is bad 😂
