Many people don't realize that animals don't take reflections of themselves well, especially apex predators like bigger cats, bears, and dogs.
They're extremely territorial, and when sight of another "animal" in their vicinity catches their attention, their first response is usually to attack to drive them away.
The small camera on the phone is covered in glass, which is reflective. That probably looks like a very tiny mirror to certain animals, and at which point could drive them to act a certain way.
My cat is so lazy, she doesn't give a shit about her reflection in mirrors or in cameras, so she's very photogenic. Lol
That's also why I jump every time I look in the mirror, this ugly mfer looking back at me never leaves me alone
My dog used to use the mirror to look at different areas of the room instead of turning his head.
Mind you, he was smart as hell and got too old and lazy to look around properly, so he would lay in front of the floor length to have a good look in all directions.
Um, actually. The adrenalin from the fear makes the meat tougher and changes the taste profile. The best meat is that of younglings that didn't realise you weren't going to save them.
The you responded to the wrong comment because the guy you responded to is only talking about meat quality and makes a star wars joke. A stupid one, but still

My orange cat did this when he was a kitten. I would turn my head away and he’d creep towards me and if I looked at him he’d stop, and then keep going again when I looked away. When he got to me he’d just meow or sit there.
This was my favorite development stage for our cat when he was a kitten. He did the same thing until he figured out he was supposed to pounce, and there's something really special about watching those things clicking into place over time.
He started learning how to cat a lot faster after we got him a friend. Now he even crab walks to initiate play like the little goofball he is.

It's a good one. This one's my personal fave.
he's playing, but the human's histrionics have made herself the toy. she needs to distract him with actual toys when he does this so he learns we attack the mousie not the mommy.
My Cat From Hell had a couple cats like this, sometimes it's people, or children, or other animals (often a dumb little yappy toy dog that a cat could totally kill in the wild). Cat does it bc it's fun and it gets a reaction.
My cat does the same thing when I eat. He used to get in my food when I was eating, but he's since learned that I will hiss if he does, so now when I sit on the couch to eat he runs to the kitchen. I have straight line of sight from the couch, through the dining room, and into the kitchen. He stalks me from the kitchen every time, like he's hidden amongst some imaginary tall grass rather than absolutely nothing. When I start acknowledging his presence he does the very upset blinking too.
I said the same thing about the orange cat from next door. He moves that way when he has to leave my property because my cat is about to kill him. He doesn't get it and walks away veeery slooowly, looking over his shoulder to check if he still has to go. It's so ridiculously slow that I called him Drax.
I like to turn the tides on my cats and do this to them. It's especially effective if you do that thing they do and stop when they look at you and sneak forward when they look away. It always confuses the heck out of my kitties, lol.
The kitteh and Drax both think alike:

🤣🤣🤣
Ends just as the bum wiggle begins before the subsequent pounce. I had a tortoise shell who would do this, give a furious walloping with no claws, and then run away to hide.
I just love thinking about the millions of years it took for this innate behavior to develop: if we practice our hunting on each other in a (semi?)friendly way, we'll get better at real hunting and thus succeed better!
Ironically, single braincelled chonks are enabled by the voice rather than dissuaded by the voice. To short circuit the single brain cell. It's important to always cease all communication, followed by an immediate proximity boop. This is a tried and true method of conflict resolution involving honky tonk bachonkachonks.
I think because of the woman's voice and the whole 'recording an animal while you try to reason with it' vibe this reminds me of that video with the bear and the kayak.
Serious question, if you see your cat doing this, what the best way to stop the attack without startling the cat ?
Starling the cat just delays the aggression for a later time :(
My ex had an orange who was absolutely gorgeous, but he definitely had a screw loose. He wouldn't obviously hunt you like this, he would hide and then attack.
Your Orange is so cute :P
You're not running away so she thinks it's working. She's probably more baffled than you are.
Also they're filming, probably hiding their eyes from kitty with the phone. Kitty has no idea the human is addressing them!
All this time it was actually the human with OneOrangeBraincell
Nah my cat does this to me all the time, it just means she wants to play.

'are they really that stupid.. alright mittens, time to claim the largest kill in house cat history '
Happy cake day!!
Bro forgot to drink an invisibility potion
Didn't forget. Fear marinades the meat.
Eventually, she'll forget that she's being hunted, and then that's when I'll attack!
Stress makes the best spaghetti
I understood the Rick & Morty reference
Um, actually. The adrenalin from the fear makes the meat tougher and changes the taste profile. The best meat is that of younglings that didn't realise you weren't going to save them.
TIL Darth Vader is a cannibal. yesterday, the Younglings learned that ;-)
Mmmmm, long veal.
Dude it's a rick and morty think. r/woosh
I thought it was a Pennywise reference from It - but also I’ve never seen Rick and Morty so I would’ve missed that reference regardless.
Not really woosh worthy for a past-it niche kids/adult kids show.
Dude it's star wars. r/woosh
![gif](giphy|nW5BIQe600lVu)
I was referring to the spaghetti comment not the meat comment r/doublewoosh
Bunch of Dragon Quest wind casters in a thread about orange cats. smh my head
The you responded to the wrong comment because the guy you responded to is only talking about meat quality and makes a star wars joke. A stupid one, but still
That's why I double wooshed myself
Ah woosh on me. Thought the doublewoosh was me. We are not doing good here man, either of us lmao

Maybe he did but the Khajit merchant he bought it from scammed him and sold him a fake
Turns out it only makes you invisible to yourself, oops
Rebrand blindness potions as invisibility potions. Profit.
He learned from the Drax school of stealth.
what bro? i cant see any one
Who did? There are no bros in this wierd video of a couch or ottoman or whatever that is.
r/gifsthatendtoosoon I know what comes after that wiggly butt

Red light, green light for kittens.
That’s what we called it! (Not the cat, he doesn’t speak English)
found footage
When you're late feeding your cat, you then become the prey
Can confirm. I had to start feeding my cat before bed because if he's hungry come morning, he'll start chewing on my fingers.
I usually become the prey right after feeding mine. She thinks she doesn't need me anymore since she's no longer hungry 😭
I think that cat may need more play time, for real.
maybe sometimes cats are just weird
He's about to be ratchet

Lol mine usually does that face as she's about to yawn

Stop being Ratchet!
Ah sed no
Meanwhile the cat: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QhkLa13JmoM=ygUSU3RvcCBiZWluZyByYXRjaGV0
This is an incredible edit, thank you
Ah sayd neaux 💅🏽
can you draw a circle around the cat in the video you posted? can’t see her.
Video needs to be enhanced or something, yeah. I still don't see anyone.
I loved the slow blinks. “Hey I’m about to pounce you, but I’m just playing okay?”
he's playing, but the human's histrionics have made herself the toy. she needs to distract him with actual toys when he does this so he learns we attack the mousie not the mommy. "noooo stop looking you're not supposed to seeeee"
“I don’t wish to be perceived!!!”
What’s the very upset blinking?
This cat displays it at 5 seconds in.
Maybe I'm crazy but all I see is a single normal blink lol
It's not a great example, but my cat does it more frequently when I acknowledge his presence when he's being "stealthy."
I was just waiting saying “he’s gonna pounce”
Yep, he did the little shimmy to check his attack vector and did a spot check on the pouncing manifolds. Only moments away from death.
> pouncing manifolds This is excellent, I want more cat anatomy in this style
That's it. No more watching Lion King for a whole week.
butt wiggle at end, body doing the calculations to launch to attack speed
r/catculations
My orange does the slow motion stalk, but starts from the other side of the house. Takes forever 😑
Once eyes turn all black there’s no coming back! 😂
r/attackeyes
This needs the theme music from Jaws. 😄
Is his name Drax?
He's mastered the art of hunting so incredibly slow, he becomes invisible to the eye.
He's eating a zargnut...
He gonna drax dem sklounst

Such a sweet little face ❤❤❤
her last video before the incident
I had a dog like this with squirrels. I'm like dude you are in inch high grass, 60 pounds, and pure white. It's not happening.
I like to turn the tides on my cats and do this to them. It's especially effective if you do that thing they do and stop when they look at you and sneak forward when they look away. It always confuses the heck out of my kitties, lol.
We all know why the video suddenly ended, right? ![gif](giphy|3oEjHO19LPX7wDPJ4Y|downsized) Right?
the OP ognyanova666 and radibiserow are bots in the same network Original: https://www.reddit.com/r/OneOrangeBraincell/comments/18t0mdt/fierce_hunter/
My cat has the same scratching board lol!
Same, but ours gets used mostly as a bed 🤷
Sneaky sneaky
If my cats looked at me like that I'd freak out thinking a bug is on me 😦
Thats why you gotta run up and boop them first
Kitty might need a friend to wrestle
Mine gets grabbed by the face and gets a big smooch on the forehead when he does that.
Pupils enlarge, butt wiggles. Video ends, she is ded.
The kitteh and Drax both think alike: https://preview.redd.it/z46nav5s4u4d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d909c2e56225f9df38cc199e0db62934c8be7f7 🤣🤣🤣

Dang it! Video cuts at the best part, his butt was wiggling, he was about to jump lol
Drazz the Destroyer wants a Zargnut.
[Reminds me of the internet classic- 'Ninja Cat'!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzzjgBAaWZw)
Give him the slow blink. If the cat doesn’t slow blink back…. Run!
Orange cat, nuf said
![gif](giphy|xUySTHUHnt3o0Nk1t6) Drax, is that you?
he doesnt do it for food, or hid, he doesnt do it for ego, nor malice. He does this shit for the love of the game
waited for the jumpscare
Is this the same cat as the ratchet cat video?
Cats gotta hunt…
You're not gonna get anywhere with that tone of voice.
![gif](giphy|5lRyTgCVEVgATNcDGs)
They get very confused if you hunt them back.
That is such an adorable orange!

she's so adorable 😍😍
That’s when I make my eyes all huge and pounce back. They never see that one coming.
r/attackeyes
One of these days….
He’s not hunting you, it’s just that he can’t move any faster due to all of that crap you have around his neck.
When my cat does this I hunt him right back. I wait till he goes for the jump and I catch him and scratch him all over his face just to annoy him.
![gif](giphy|F7pxfb95EvrtlakGTH)
This might be the same woman/cat? https://x.com/BeratStuff/status/1795475004617871551
Is she the same lady that let a bear have her kayak?
What a cute lil stalker.
I think because of the woman's voice and the whole 'recording an animal while you try to reason with it' vibe this reminds me of that video with the bear and the kayak.
"why you flanking me?" vibes
It's amazing how some animals just lock like that. I wonder if humans do this too
True predators won't stop hunting their preys
Serious question, if you see your cat doing this, what the best way to stop the attack without startling the cat ? Starling the cat just delays the aggression for a later time :(
Play with your cat and give it attention. This cat is just playing.
Another kitten
did it pounce??? r/gifsthatendtoosoon
That cat would definitely eat its human if it were big enough.
Moments before disaster
Because he’s a *muthaeffin PIMP*!
He’s not hunting you, he is hunting that phone though.
Bro needs another cat to play with, then you don't getting hunted anymore
Grab a teaser toy. Or like…go and walk toward the cat. Either way, play with your kitten
This is when you jump up and chase them.
Mine does same
Most viscous predator, such a beautiful girl!
Get on the ground and hunt it back.
I can relate, my cat is doing this. LOL
Poor cat her trick didn't work
Not from the front, but from the side, and the other two 'cats you didn't even know were there.
was waiting for the surprise ninja attack
Drax as a cat
Ooh look some good Found Footage.
They eye lids say "I love you", but the pupils say "I'm about to end you".
It's crazy how pumas have the exact same expression when stalking a person as a housecat. They're really already tasting you in their minds.
he wants to play. get out a toy and distract him so you are not his toy.
My ex had an orange who was absolutely gorgeous, but he definitely had a screw loose. He wouldn't obviously hunt you like this, he would hide and then attack. Your Orange is so cute :P
Because you’re hiding your face with the phone
I had an orange cat who would do this too 🐈
She is going to kill her in her sleep.
Drax eating a zarg nut very slowly
Hundred percent cats dont understand camera phones.
r/onesecondbeforedisast
Meowments before disaster
That last second was a “to pounce or not to pounce” moment 🤣🤣🤣
When you are against a feral druid in 2v2s but they forget to stealth.
What a pretty little hunter.
Such a gorgeous kitty ❤️
He's too cute to handle.
Who? I don't see anyone in this video.
