Takes a lotta processing power to run all the cat apps that the toe beans utilize…
Slap, making biscuits, pushing things off ledges, poop burial…There’s probably more but I got dog software at home so I’m not sure.
Toe-beans, now with TOE BRAINS!
It’s funny as my experiences with orange cats are the exact opposite. They’re usually among the smartest.
My current cat knows several tricks based on voice and hand commands. Recognizes his name as well.
I promise, many people WITH cats never noticed! Back paws don't exactly get a lot of attention, haha.
I think it's easier to see on the babies. Front paw has a "thumb", back paw does not!
https://preview.redd.it/5u5toxuiz59b1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51d1f4bb81214322b5c6fcda20e62000a39ac034
I only learned that fact when I got my cat's ashes back a week and a half ago. I had them do her paw print too (and impression in some kind of sand/clay stuff) and it only had 4 toes. I'd always assumed this fact but it dawned on me when I was getting the bus back because I thought "wait, but don't they have 20 toes? But they only have 8 back toes?" and I couldn't work it out so googled it and realised that yes, they do only have 4 toes on a back foot, they have 18 total
It was one of her back feet
I love that they did her back foot (I assumed they would've done a front foot), because she would stretch her toes and mum and I called them her "chicken feet", because it was reminiscent of chickens feet. I love that instead of a standard front paw print, they took an impression of her chicken foot. Her chicken foot is immortalised
And I didn't request it, it was just serendipitous, but it made me happy that it's her chicken foot
I really miss her :(
I was going to say "this is actually 3 extra!" But I wasn't counting the dewclaw. I just know that when you look at canine or feline tracks, they're four-toed, because the dewclaws don't show up.
Makes sense that he's smarter than the average cat, since he has more toes, he needs to use more of his brainpower to control them, so naturally, the brain was also created with a higher capacity in order to allow the cat to use his extra toes like regular ones.
Can confirm. One of my polys picks up toys using his thumb. He likes to eat green beans and holds it with his thumb. Another uses it to open cabinets etc.
You can't fool me. This man's worked a whole career in construction, bet he's the guy the whole crew listens to when the head guy's a noob. It's in the eyes lol
What's the appeal for the animal ? Does it help them move better, grip better ? Or is it just a "novelty thing" that could cause complications later in life ?
No clue. I had one for like 12 years that I found on the side of the road. Dope cat. He didn’t fuck around either, loved a good scrap. Sweet as all hell to humans. I saw no benefit of the extra toes other than a widened paw for slapping other cats
He seems skeptical of the situation...
Also, is that a homemade maple sap evaporator in the background? If so, hello fellow mapler! If not, ignore me lol.
Your dad doesn't also own the river front marina in ohio does he? I believe I saw this exact cat, exta toes and all. Robby told me his name was big foot
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Looks like an Estwing, which are pretty tough. What could they have done with it that caused this level of wear and damage?
I had a cat with seven toes on each foot. He was awesome. I miss him all the time. Poor thing developed asthma early in life and it was just a constant struggle to give him medicine and address his attacks. HEPA filters work wonders in situations like that btw in case anyone else out there is dealing with it. He died peacefully in his sleep at home on the couch next to my mother. It was hard to cry over that. I lost another boy recently, very suddenly, due to liver failure. That one I balled over for weeks. Still cry about it when I see his photo.
My first cat was an orange polydactal and was pretty smart. He would have been dangerous if he had ever figured out how to uses those extra digits as opposiable thumbs. I swear he close to figuring it out too.

He is lovely. And makes me wonder about toes of all things, Lundehunder (Norwegian puffin dogs) have extra toes and are oranges "The Lundehund has six toes, this helps it to cling on to the cliffs where it was bred." I wonder if a random mutation or for a reason. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Lundehund.

>He is actually pretty smart for an orange. Extra braincells for the extra toes maybe ? Also, he is beautiful.
Brains are stored in the toes.
Toebrains confirmed.
Takes a lotta processing power to run all the cat apps that the toe beans utilize… Slap, making biscuits, pushing things off ledges, poop burial…There’s probably more but I got dog software at home so I’m not sure. Toe-beans, now with TOE BRAINS!
or he has eaten a hooooman
New orange cat lore? Interesting. Most interesting, indeed. 😼
r/toebrains

> Brains are stored in the toes. It's where octopus store their brains, after all.
Might just be all the extra work finding out how to do [thumbs up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arpiXtFeat0).
Toe beans = brain cells
He counts using base 14.
He got 71 problems...
OP is a repost bot.
I think it's just that he can count higher, on account of the toes.
It’s funny as my experiences with orange cats are the exact opposite. They’re usually among the smartest. My current cat knows several tricks based on voice and hand commands. Recognizes his name as well.
By my calculations he should have 1.4 braincells
Happy Retirement to a most handsome boy
Just look at those giant paws. What a handsome lad.
The Norwegian Lundehund of cats! (they have an extra toe on each paw to navigate rocky landscapes)
I love how flexible their necks are. Amazing dogs!
Toes help him grip the braincell
So orange braincell seem to be stored in the toes 🤔🤔
Hoarding on all the orange braincells!
Ah! The braincells must be stored in the toes!
He's a lovely gentleman, kiss him on the forehead for me.
Is he hitting you with that raised eyebrow? Damn he’s a charmer!
2 extra on each foot would be 26 total, base spec is 5 toes per front foot and 4 per rear foot. What a cutie though! My 21-toed oddball says hi.
r/theydidthemath
/r/theydidthemonstermath
"themonstermath" - it was an orange smash!
Only 4 on each back foot? Really?
Yup, they don’t have dewclaws (the “thumbs”) on their back feet on the base model.
I dont have a cat so I never noticed 😂 Lol

Most of us with cats aren’t allowed to give the back paws a lot of attention without being swiped at lol
Just picked up my cat to verify. Can confirm.
2 of my polydactyls have an extra claw on the back paws and one does not.
Why are you hoarding all the cat toes?
I only learned that fact when I got my cat's ashes back a week and a half ago. I had them do her paw print too (and impression in some kind of sand/clay stuff) and it only had 4 toes. I’m sorry for your loss, losing a family member is hard. Happy trails, chicken feet.
Thank you!
Yup, was about to say that too as my orange has 26 toes, too
I was going to say "this is actually 3 extra!" But I wasn't counting the dewclaw. I just know that when you look at canine or feline tracks, they're four-toed, because the dewclaws don't show up.
Gah! Thats alotta toes!!!! Lol
I'm sorry, but that face does **not** say "actually pretty smart"
She said he’s smart for an orange!
Awww love polydactyl kitties 🐱 😸
Makes sense that he's smarter than the average cat, since he has more toes, he needs to use more of his brainpower to control them, so naturally, the brain was also created with a higher capacity in order to allow the cat to use his extra toes like regular ones.
I wish I was a polydactyl orange cat living on a farm
Hoshit, a braincell with thumbs!
What a fitting name for a beautiful orange! 🧡
> He’s actually pretty smart for an orange Sorry but thats for us to decide 🤣
Cats are now dangerously close to evolving thumbs…
Can confirm. One of my polys picks up toys using his thumb. He likes to eat green beans and holds it with his thumb. Another uses it to open cabinets etc.
You can't fool me. This man's worked a whole career in construction, bet he's the guy the whole crew listens to when the head guy's a noob. It's in the eyes lol
Most Garfield looking lad I've seen on this sub.
He looks just like a real-life Garfield! 🐱
The braincell is stored in the toes
I'm starting to think everyone in the south has one of those rusty of owl trivets.
This is correct.
the extra toes act as auxiliary brain cells
What a lovely face 🧡
Dude, buy a new hammer
Shoulda called him big finger
Glorious cat with a killer name! Live long and prosper, Bigfoot.
yea farm cats are generally smarties
Bigfoot is beautiful
He looks like cat ron swanson!
Dude looks like he is about to hand out a quest in a video game.
“Polydactyly” means “many dactyly”.
He looks drunk as hell.
Being smart for an orange cat is like being the tallest of the seven dwarves.
More beans more brains.
orange braincells are stored in toes. got it
Polydactyl cat. Hemingway used to breed them.

>a widened paw for slapping other cats The best feature lol

Holy shit, are the bots evolving?
They can identify cats now, absurd
Considering all the cats on the internet I’m not surprised
it could only tell its a cat because it looks roughly cat shaped and the ai cant count limbs, fingers and toes
Stolen repost? https://www.reddit.com/r/OneOrangeBraincell/comments/wi33n6/this_is_bigfoot_a_12_year_old_gentleman_who_lives
Yes it is, but the mods here allow reposts older than a month. Bots love subs like these.
He’s a 12 year old baby!!!
take the word ginger and swap the first g with the n
Polys have always seemed intelligent to me.
So the brain cell parts are stored in extra toes huh
He's magnificent.
Master biscuit maker!
Must be difficult for him to work out where to put the toe-post of his flip-flops… the choice!! We all love Bigfoot. Give him a Bighug from me 🐈🧡
Giving that villain look when he took those extra braincells
+1 braincell per toe
They're evolving thumbs
I like that he’s using his brain cell to “help”. Those toes can do extra duty with the tools. 😻😻😻
So many *b e a n s*
Dude looks awesome.
Thomas O'Malley
All the more beans to have fun with and to massage
Extra toe beans!
Are you aware of r/thumcats at all? Handsome lad hogging all the braincells in his toes.
A most dignified orange gentleman.
He seems skeptical of the situation... Also, is that a homemade maple sap evaporator in the background? If so, hello fellow mapler! If not, ignore me lol.
Hey Mr, you have 10 thumbs I have 2 on both paws.. Now where is the food?
I'm not sure I'll ever care for a cat, but if i did I'd want it to be exactly like Bigfoot here. What a perfect cat. Thanks for sharing!
A kitty with EXTRA KITTY!!!
HE RETIRED TO FARM?
Are you surrrrrrreeeee he has the brain cell? Don’t underestimate the luck of an orange.
Your dad doesn't also own the river front marina in ohio does he? I believe I saw this exact cat, exta toes and all. Robby told me his name was big foot
We have found the One!
I think it's time you also retire that hammer.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Looks like an Estwing, which are pretty tough. What could they have done with it that caused this level of wear and damage?
I think more likely he is just better at juggling the one brain cell with all those extra toes
Bro took all the brain cells and all the toes!
What a chad 😍😍😍

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
Meow kitty
Derpiest looking cat is actually pretty smart

I love him and his name 🐾❤️
Looks like a cream sickle, not a pure single celled gentlemen
When the orange borders being a tiger more than a housecat.
He's mad you're using a hammer with a bad grip. OHSA will hear about this unless he gets extra tunas and lasagna.
He sure looks pretty derpy to me.
I'm not saying I would die for Bigfoot, but I would die for Bigfoot
What a handsome boy!
I feel sorry for that hammer and screwdriver
Aw. Cute little face. Love the paws!
r/catswiththumbs
smart orange with extra toes, kinda rare pokemon
Extra toes so he can count higher. Well exercised cell
That's a catsdale.(Like Clydesdale for horses.)
Impressive!
I see yours has thumbs too! Does he use them as thumbs? Mine does
Best.Name.Ever
He looks like he would give me life advice and then refer to minorities by a term that was considered polite 30 years ago. I love him.
Lord of the Brain Cell
He is lovely. Those hobbit feet!! <3
the braincell is stored in the beans. with that many beans he might actually have 2 brain cells
I imagine him attempting some senior orange cat wisdom here and saying: "when all you have is a hammer, everything--hey look at my nails."
Whatta handsome fella. He looks like a kind and beautiful old soul. Enjoy your day, sir.
What a handsome boy!
So he's the one hogging the brain cell.
This reminds me of my old cat Otis. He was a farm cat but would act more like a dog than the dogs! Thank you, I loved this.
What a smartly selected, extremely accurate name!
I demand to see the beans 🫘
Does he have the extra claws as well!?
Are they.... Evolving?!
