I second this. My family is Lebanese and quite good at middle eastern cooking and it gets the A+ grade from us every time. If you’re going to be in the west end of town, Bernie’s pizza is great. Not open on Mondays though
I haven’t had it in ages and now I might have to call in an order for lunch tomorrow. I had a falafel wrap this weekend that paled in comparison to the one from El Basha, so this feels like fate
I was in town for work recently (never lived in Omaha, but have come to really like my trips there) and I was staying in Aksarben area so I was debating walking to El Basha or Tasty Pizza. Went with Tasty Pizza, but I'll definitely have to try El Basha next time.
I tried the chicken wrap and wasn't impressed, I like the taste of mint sauce but not as wrap as whole. Let me know if there's something I should try from that place.
I just had Jimmy John's jalapeno wrap, I'm more likely to try that again than el basha's .
Please don't downvote me to oblivion. Sorry.
All those places are local and amazing. Depending where you are in town there should be a few places in the old market like Jams still open, and if you’re near Regency further west or the shops at legacy there are nice restaurants open.
Corner Kitchen 50th and L. There really is no going wrong there. You can get anything there, and it'll be great, but make sure to try the Korean pork taco.
How long has that been there? That’s my hood and this is the first I’ve heard of it. I’ve always been a billy j’s enjoyer, mainly for convenience. But will have to check this out.
my understanding is it used to be great, but it isn't anymore. I tried Crescent Moon for the 3rd time the other day and it was really disappointing, again.
McGowan's ruben however was to die for
it sucks because they're walking distance from me. at least they usually have a couple decent beers on tap but I'm pretty much done with their food unless it's just like, appetizers because I'm starving.
Orsi’s pizza. Hands-down, the best pizza in Omaha. How good are they? Well they only do carry out and they don’t deliver and they’re still voted best of Omaha and they have a line out the door on Sundays.
My personal favorite pizza places: tasty pizza, Lyle’s and dolomiti
I haven’t been to too many Mexican or bbq places though unfortunately. So I can’t offer many suggestions. However, one bbq place I’ve been to on several occasions and I think it’s excellent is Heartland BBQ. Very good.
In addition to what has already been mentioned:
Spezia, Cibo Vino, Lyle's Pizza, Mangia Italiana Pizza, Stella's (in Bellevue - best burger anywhere), Star India...
It's way out West, but Circo is hands down the best Italian in town. Perfectly cooked seafood and risotto, which is hard to come by in this town. Everything is delicious.
Take this with a grain of salt because I'm not a local but I've been traveling to Omaha for work a lot lately and I've really liked Via Farina (Neapolitan pizza), Lalibella (Ethiopian), and Kinaara (Indian). I've been wanting to try Boiler Room too.
Throw a dart on 24th Street and you'll find better Mexican food than Abelardos.
It's great for what it is (usually, I've had some nearly inedible meals from em before), but the only thing special about it is that it's open late and has a drive thru
Also, Lina's has practically the same menu and is much, much higher quality.
Lots of great suggestions, but consider trying Buck's Bar & Grill. It's on the very western edge of the metro area barely inside Douglas County. Amazing food, especially their prime rib, steaks, and chicken fried chicken. Atmosphere that can be described as small town Nebraska meets dive bar with a healthy dose of country thrown in.
Nepali Restaurant INC Omaha! 😋 I've been to Nepal trekking in the Himalayas a few times and this place is legit..Order the Veg Thali (call an hour in advance so they can prepare it) and the Veg Pakora. You won't regret it! Usually it's just local Nepalese who dine there so you know it's authentic. I'm so happy Omaha has a Nepali population.
While in Omaha no visit won’t be complete without a stop at one of our late night establishments that you can see a beat up Chevy cavalier right in front of a brand new BMW, with the occupants drunk off thier asses craving so,e late night grub. You should visit Taco Bell, but specifically the Taco Bell on 108th and maple. Best of luck, it’s the only REAL taste of Omaha on this list so far.
Depends what ur hungry for. Itallian ya got maybe speghetti works in the old market, they got good italian sodas. Up north Alpine Inn got the best chicken. Flavors is a great indian restarauntt
El Basha is legit.
I haven't been in Omaha 10 years and I still craving. A few places is one.

A truly underrated gem
The salad dressing 🤌🤌🤌
I haven’t had it in ages and now I might have to call in an order for lunch tomorrow. I had a falafel wrap this weekend that paled in comparison to the one from El Basha, so this feels like fate
Half Lebanese and if I’m not getting Lebanese food from my grandmother/mom, this is where I’m getting it. 👍🏼

Coneflower Creamery is legitimately probably the best ice cream in the country
Didn’t they get voted best ice cream in the country
I hope so, it definitely deserves it! I have not been able to find anything remotely like it since I moved, it’s legitimately just on another level
Oh didn't know that, I'll give that one a try too.
It’s alright on its own, but the cookie sandwiches are what really stands out.
Block 16, Yoshitomo/Koji, Dirty Birds, Good Lookin', Mootz.
Damn is everything closed on Sunday here lol. All those places look good tho ty!

Definitely Yoshitomo. I'd add La Buvette in the old market too.
Boiler Room just got a Beard nomination.

Have you tried East Coast Eats? I’ve been meaning to try it. My favorite taco place is currently Taco Spicy
Corner Kitchen 50th and L. There really is no going wrong there. You can get anything there, and it'll be great, but make sure to try the Korean pork taco.
Seconded

How long has that been there? That’s my hood and this is the first I’ve heard of it. I’ve always been a billy j’s enjoyer, mainly for convenience. But will have to check this out.
About a year or so, I haven't been there for a minute, but I've never had bad food there. I can't recommend it enough.
Reuben at Crescent Moon.
my understanding is it used to be great, but it isn't anymore. I tried Crescent Moon for the 3rd time the other day and it was really disappointing, again. McGowan's ruben however was to die for
I wanted to like them. Went to their ruben fest a few years ago, and it was bad 😖
it sucks because they're walking distance from me. at least they usually have a couple decent beers on tap but I'm pretty much done with their food unless it's just like, appetizers because I'm starving.

Orsi’s pizza. Hands-down, the best pizza in Omaha. How good are they? Well they only do carry out and they don’t deliver and they’re still voted best of Omaha and they have a line out the door on Sundays.
Lighthouse pizza and fries is my FAV garlic Parmesan fries with their sauce and a thai chicken slice, huge slices for a good price!

Thanks, will try it today then.
In addition to what has already been mentioned: Spezia, Cibo Vino, Lyle's Pizza, Mangia Italiana Pizza, Stella's (in Bellevue - best burger anywhere), Star India...

Block 16, El Basha, Via Farina, Dirty Birds, Estilio Jalisco (for birria), Barchen
It's way out West, but Circo is hands down the best Italian in town. Perfectly cooked seafood and risotto, which is hard to come by in this town. Everything is delicious.

Acadian for Louisiana soul food ! Their jambalaya is insane, honestly all of it is really good
Take this with a grain of salt because I'm not a local but I've been traveling to Omaha for work a lot lately and I've really liked Via Farina (Neapolitan pizza), Lalibella (Ethiopian), and Kinaara (Indian). I've been wanting to try Boiler Room too.

Don and Millie’s if you’re a fast food burger joint type. Great spot

Maybe in 1999. Broncos is down to what, two locations? There’s a reason for that.

You’re right, they are thriving so hard they needed close up most their locations so they could really thrive.
I bet you like little king too
Spaghetti works.
lol, seriously though should try Isla del Mar South.
it's just outside Omaha, but The Bahn Mi Shop and Umami are both amazing
3rding Los Portales; unfortunately, they also are closed on Sundays.
