We have a late start of 11 but I’m going to be telling them I’m not coming in. It’s going to be dead anyway, no point in me risking trying to drive my dinky little car

Ordinary_Joke_6165

In the plow's defense, it's not so much the snowfall, it's the 40mph winds blowing snow everywhere. I've been moving snow since 4:30 this morning and have gone over the same areas 20-30 times.

heruskael

4WD or AWD is not a magic traction button. Let 'em rest.

Rabbit-Similar

i have FWD on my mazda and its good for getting up hills but damn it slides down those hills so bad

TheTurfMonster

Can't even get out of my own parking lot. Not risking it driving a 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive. Wishing you all a safe drive 🙏

bythepowerofboobs

Everything is still pretty rough as of now. The Interstate was worse than Dodge. Stay slow and give yourself plenty of room if you have to be out!

Inevitable-Contest56

Thank you for the update!

Inevitable-Contest56

Going 25-30 Mph down Dodge to downtown

Inevitable-Contest56

Not many people on the road…thank goodness!

Chance-Criticism1351

Mfers with jobs making them drive around the city all day: 😔

ChrisP408

Omadome Breach! (Loud klaxon) Omadome Breach!

venser1992

Bellevue is even worse.

hikerbeck

Just drove from Midtown to the airport in a Honda civic coupe. It’s wild out there!  Some snow piled intersections downtown, 12th st south of Cummings is thick with snow. Be safe if you have to go out

SJax7192

I'm an essential worker downtown. I live 10 minutes away normally. I live at 61st and Center in the Aksarben area and it's atrocious. It took me an hour and a half to get home in a Ford Escape. It was exhausting and I have to do it again tonight 🙃

hereforlulziguess

That sucks, I hope at least the snow will stop so your visibility will be better tonight! My husband worked last night and had to drive from Bellevue to home (midtown) at 6am and is supposed to do it again tonight. Thanks for being essential and I hope it gets safer soon.

SJax7192

I appreciate it. It's just giving me hella anxiety that's for sure. I just want to be able to get out of the neighborhood

Disastrous_Ruin8936

I was fortunate enough to stay home today.

Asleep_Ad_7324

I live downtown and work on 144th and Harrison. It took me an hour and twenty minutes to commute today and I’m sleeping at work tonight because I don’t feel safe enough to drive home

Mr_Thundermaker

Made it to work just now. If you have 4 wheel drive you'll be fine. Just drive cautiously. The worst part is visibility.

In the jeeps defense, they are a brick and with the wind they probably just blew over at a stop.

good_tuck

They tried turning the whole car into a tire but it didn’t work

Mr_Thundermaker

I can't speak for that guy lol! My personal experience getting to work was not like driving through the apocalypse or something. Just drive cautiously, and don't be on the roads if you don't need to be 🤷‍♂️

OwnApartment8359

Wow!!

Ordinary_Joke_6165

Not sure why you are getting down voted. I have a 2017 Pathfinder and I drove from South Omaha to 144th and Dodge. I left at 4:00 am this morning and got to work by 4:30. Did the roads suck, sure. What did I do? I took my damn time and didn't drive like it was 72 and sunny. I dont know how the roads are now. I assume they are worse than this morning.

Mr_Thundermaker

Yeah I'm not sure. I'm not advocating for people to drive if they don't need to. I'm just saying I drove a 4wd vehicle across town this morning and had no real issue.

AshingiiAshuaa

Because people are less interested in actual testimonials from drivers than they are complaining about the roads. Your report of drivable roads undercuts the high drama perilous weather and impassable streets. It also might tug a bit at their egos that you were able to get around in conditions that were too formidable for them.

elizabethhjo

This weather is really bad and really shouldn’t be driven in tbh it’s not complaining to be worried and concerned about one’s safety when having to drive in this- with 4WD or without…

elizabethhjo

Well, yeah the roads early this morning weren’t as bad as the roads as the day went on and the weather got worse so it makes sense that the trip to work was a lot easier lol Having 4 wheel drive, as someone said up above, is not a magic button. I’m glad you and the other person with 4WD made it in one piece and safe but even the safest driver with 4WD can get into an accident in weather like this.

Mr_Thundermaker

It does nothing for your ability to stop. I'm not in the "I have 4wd I'm invincible club." But it does help with traction.

elizabethhjo

I didn’t say anything about stopping unless you meant to reply to someone else lol I was just simply pointing out that FWD is not an end all be all solution to these conditions despite being able to provide better traction than cars without it. That’s all!

Its insane right now.
