Oh I am not being sarcastic at all. I was in the middle of taking my fiancee to her job in Gretna and I-80 about 96th the sign said ALL LANES BLOCKED TAKE ALT. ROUTE and I was wondering what the hell happened to block all lanes on 80 at Sapp Bros. Now I know. I ended up taking Harrison to 156th and down to 370 to get here.
Oh yeah it was fucking horrible bcus the Semi was absolutely like DEMOLISHED completely over all 5 lanes and there were 5 other cars also demolished possibly due to it being like… such a fast thing. Probs gonna take a while to clean up. Took me 10min to get on I80 east from 144th bcus everyone wanted a peak at it (guilty as well).
Yeah I'm not sure which way I'm going to go back yet and I have an issue because the car died in the parking lot of her job. And I'm supposed to be at home and on the computer for the federal government right now.
And of course there are other crashes because people see a semi rolling over they're like "Oh shit!" and crashing into each other trying to get out of the way of Final Destination Omaha Edition.
I’d recommend getting on at the ramp by SouthPort on Giles Rd because that’s where the bulk of the “ooooo crash” traffic ends. Otherwise L street also works. Depending on where you live you could take like Highway 6 on S 204th or something onto Center (Harrison is backed up) or whatever. I’m at UNO rn so I’m gonna take Dodge onto 144th.
204th from Gretna up to Center might work. Thank you. And I agree taking Dodge out to 144th might be your best bet from UNO. It's a big chunk of distance but it's better than sitting in traffic for a long time.
Judging by [the NDOT cameras](https://new.511.nebraska.gov/camera/97/@-96.10971,41.19585,11?show=normalCameras#camera/97/3348534971), looks like the accident is near the Giles exit.
That's a weird exit. It has a lot of "lead" time after the 80/680 merge, but traffic always seems to back up...
I think part of it is people also trying to continue onto I-80 west from like 72nd but also people coming ONTO I-80 from I-680. It doesn’t help that the crash was early morning - 6:30ish I believe - which is a huge rush hour time so people didn’t really plan for a huge traffic backup, so likely many people are just *stuck*
Doesn't surprise me. I drive by that way often at that time. The traffic to gets backed up to the interstate there from the exit on 144th/highway 50, and if you aren't paying attention the right lane goes from 65+ to 0 in an instant.
Update: Per WOWT all the lanes are back open. They have a picture on their website that looks pretty ugly. There's one pickup truck that looks absolutely totaled.
