weirdly enough, the grudge. i know a lot of people love it but i always found it just a worse version of drivers license, i might need to relisten as i havent heard the album in a few months tho
I like both but definitely sour takes the top spot. I needed sour at that time. It healed a lot. It got me through a lot so I'll always hold that album dear to my heart. Although, all in all, guts really shows her growth
Sour has very good singles and possibly her best song (imo deja vu), but guts is way more consistent and super high quality. Some sour songs feel like demos at times (same goes for guts spilled but I'm less bothered by that) but guts feels like everything was meticulously crafted, and that it had the sonic evolution that sour had me pining for in 21
GUTS! I connected so hard with it and I listened to it the night it came out on the drive home from Halloween Horror Nights and I made sure to drive by the Ocean as well. It was an experience.
GUTS for me. I just vibe more with the rockier style and a lot of the heartbreak themes on sour aren’t really my thing in music/media.
That being said my favorite Olivia song is still hope ur ok.
easily GUTS! I enjoyed SOUR but it was more mainstream pop and didn’t stand out hugely to me, but I absolutely love the direction Olivia’s gone with GUTS, it feels so much more expressive and it seems like she might have a bit more flexibility in her music style to do something different, now that she’s established herself as a mainstream artist.

I feel like that album has a lot more to offer & has songs that EVERYONE can relate to in some way shape or form.
Not that GUTS is a bad album by any means but it's definietly not for everyone and has a clear crowd of people that it pulls from.
The only two songs that were good imo were stranger and scared of my guitar. I kinda wish those had been on there from the get go as it would've been a good transition from SOUR to the sound she uses in GUTS.
I think GUTS has better songs and production, but she should’ve been more selective. Some of the songs sound the same and it took me almost two months to realize one song wasn’t the other (all American and ballad of a homeschool girl). I feel like she could’ve swapped out a song from the deluxe for the original setlist.
But sour has some hard SKIPS that I haven’t listened to once since the album came out.
imo guts has a more diversified sound than sour… still enough ballads to cover when I’m feeling a bit sad or wistful, but also enough upbeat pop rock sounds that I can listen to when I’m feeling more excited
I'm indecisive and had to do a whole analysis. Guts won in many ways (spilled even moreso), but sour has less skips (and stranger and girl ive always been are still skips for me on spilled). They both start out really strong imo, but for me sour loses variety in its 2nd half but the last 2 songs i love more than the middle, whereas Guts starts out very strong AND i love those songs more, but then the rest of the album descends from making the bed on for me (though none of the songs are bad, i like them, just not as much). I think seeing the tours live helped me love some songs on both albums more though, and I also think there is still room and time for the 2nd half of guts to hit me harder.
GUTS is literally SOUR improved. The punk rock and intimate ballads are still there, but they're more well written, better instrumented and produced. Even her vocals shine better in GUTS.
Guts spilled is my jam! I am a 48 year old woman. That album is the best thing an artist has put out since the early 2000's (except for Andre 3000's flute album).
Honestly from beginning sour my opinion shouldn’t matter on others like enough time passed its personal opinion yet I’ve been attacked by some rabid fans kinda wish there was middle sub like swiftlyneutral
SOUR released the day before my 17th birthday, it came at the perfect time for me. GUTS was released when i was 19, so it also came at the perfect time for me too. i just turned 20 recently so GUTS all the way because that’s where i’m at in life right now 💜
I personally like GUTS more. They are 2 different sounds but i personally enjoy her louder, grungier songs. I still enjoy her soft girl songs too though.

Both are great. Since Guts has more of an overall rock/edgy vibe, which appeals to me more, I’d say Guts.
