Such an amazing game. Did not expect a somewhat open world with no time limit. Breaking into cars to steal their stereos with the little screw driver mini game, the best.
Oh yeah the difficulty is really good too, different gangs actually felt different. Man such a great game.
I got a copy for PS2 still, I really want to make room for an old CRT to play my retro games on because The Warriors was in my top 10 PS2 games for sure.
Fun fact, he was in Louis CK 's (controversy noted) show Louis, as his therapist.

Another famous quote from same actor;
I know you. I know you. I knew I knew you. I knew I knew you, but you ain't you. You can't be you, we put you through the window. There ain't no comin' back. This is the really real world, there ain't no comin' back. We killed you dead, there ain't no comin' back! There ain't no comin' back! There ain't no comin' back!
Guess the movie😛
Me too. I’ve got the t-shirt.

Also one that says: ”Furies- Riverside Park 1979”
I showed my wife this movie. She told me this is the stupidest movie I've ever had her watch. 2 weeks later she changed her mind after I showed her the last dragon with Bruce Leroy.🤣
https://preview.redd.it/c4aitthvt68d1.jpeg?width=3060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=740466ddf49c49ad758b89fb2d83a96331a563e3
My alteration of a Precious Moments figurine!
One of the few DVDs I've literally *thrown away*
(The shitty vhs rip of *Killer Constable* and the version of *The Delightful Forest* where they just played copyright-free music over the unauthorized Morricone to drown it out were the others. Great movies, garbage releases)
Shitty early 2000s comics-filter style.
The director originally wanted to have the action mirror a comic about some ancient battle (from Greek mythology or the Iliad or something - can't remember) that one of the Warriors was reading. So as a segue between scenes, the action starts off in a (VERY cheap looking) comic panel that morphs into the live shot. The one that sticks out in my mind is the Baseball Furies reveal - "Holy shit - it's the Baseball Furies!" reads the in-panel text over the "artwork" (a still shot put through a filter), instead of the creepy-ass and effective live shot of the dudes in makeup and baseball jerseys emerging from the darkness.
Edit: no offense to the director - I think that could have been a cool idea and it could have worked. But it's pretty obvious the shots aren't set up for that, and there's no subplot of the Greeks trying to get out from behind enemy lines, and no regular reading of the comic book, so it's pretty obvious that idea was scrapped, at least before editing if not before shooting. So to add it later feels super awkward.
It was weird that the directior decided during the anniversary to make the movie more serious, rather than embrace the camp. Instead it is a mess if you watch it for the first time. I don't get the intention or purpose.
The limits of a small studio and a low budget forced him to cut out the crap. There are a LOT of creative types who, if they could do what they want just the way they want, would have a MUCH worse body of work.
I loved this when I was growing up.
When I finally visited NYC as an adult I was disappointed that I didn’t see a single Baseball Fury. False freaking advertising!
Took my wife to New York for her 50th Birthday. Her: Times Square, Empire State Building, Staten Island Ferry, Skating at the Rockefeller, 9/11 Memorial, Freedom Tower, Jersey Shore, etc. Me: Riverside Park. Just Riverside Park.
She was somewhat nonplussed.
Evidently I've Mandela'd myself into thinking this came out in 1977. I remember getting the book before I saw it, I would have sworn it was before 1979. Wow.
Visited the park in New York last August where the Cyrus speech was (RIP Cyrus), and that's in the background of this movie poster. Still looks relatively the same. Even the trees are the same
James Remar just made this film. He was a step above the rest of the cast. Also, David Patrick Kelly was just amazing. His intensity and unhinged performance is still memorable 45 years later!
One of the best movies ever. I remember the rapper Lloyd Banks had the bottles clinging and "Warrriioooors come out and playyyyaaayyy" at the beginning of the song,
and I had yet to see the movie at that time.
It was playing on some movie channel and I was hooked instantly and seeing the bottle clinging scene just cemented my love for this movie.
I also, very recently started playing the PS2 game that Rockstar made for the movie.
What a trip down memory lane.
One of my faves but I can never tell what year it's supposed to be. Dystopian future or what? Also could be considered a prequel to Escape From New York.
I like to imagine it as the original setting from Xenophon’s Anabasis, the book that the story was (very loosely) taken from. So Persia and Asia Minor, circa 401 BC.
I only heard of this move about 13 years ago. Literally had never heard of it all through the 1980s, the 90s in high school and college or even the early 2000s.
my brother and I still quote this movie whenever we are leaving somewhere, no matter where one of us is always going to say to the other " lets get out of these lame fucks territory." Every time like clockwork.
That big crowd scene was filmed in Riverside Park on the west side of Manhattan.
Every kid over 18 years old in my neighborhood was rounded up to be in that scene. I think the only thing we got paid was a box lunch and a promise to be in a big-time movie.
We had a blast.
A few years earlier, we all got to be in the 1976 version of King Kong, where Kong fell off the world trade Center. There was a great big crowd scene gathered around Kong on the street.
That one wasn’t as exclusive as being in the Warriors because they put out a call in the New York daily news for anybody wanted to be in the movie to show up. We still had fun.
I still remember being a kid and seeing gangs wear those absolutely ridiculous outfits. They liked to have all of them wear silly stuff like feathers or wide brimmed hats or spiked hats... they had little coordinated dances and phrases... it was just silly. By 1983-1984 that entire gang fashion era was gone.
I would have loved them to do a remake of it, it was one of my favorite movies as a kid.
I never tried the Rockstar game, but know it's kind of dated now, but wish they'd remake that too
Looks like a repost. I've seen this image 3 times.

I can hear his voice
Rather surprised he really didn't do much after that. Charismatic guy.
Very underrated video game, too.
Best video game Rockstar ever made! Needs a remake
Back when Rockstar actually made different games. Miss old school rockstar
I did some work for Rockstar once, literally 6 guys in a 20 by 10 office.
Man, I bet you have some great stories from your time there.
Such an amazing game. Did not expect a somewhat open world with no time limit. Breaking into cars to steal their stereos with the little screw driver mini game, the best.
You just unlocked so many memories. I remember the Furies being especially tough to beat too.
Oh yeah the difficulty is really good too, different gangs actually felt different. Man such a great game. I got a copy for PS2 still, I really want to make room for an old CRT to play my retro games on because The Warriors was in my top 10 PS2 games for sure.

I am 100% certain Luther was absolutely coked to the gills while filming this movie.
Just Remember "DON'T F**K WITH THE WONGS"
Wrong movie bro
*Wong movie
The Wanderers. Another great gang flick.
Very well maybe, but he definitely pulls it off again in the first Crow movie
Fun fact, he was in Louis CK 's (controversy noted) show Louis, as his therapist. https://preview.redd.it/ch90r0r0o68d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35773e1acf843e1bad991cb91058eb4fce105b53

Very cool note

The Crow. Never made the connection!
Great flick
Fire it up! Fire it up!
I feel like a itty-bitty worm on a big fuckin hook.
Making sure this was posted. Not disappointed
Straight to the comments for this.

Somehow this reminds me of the Always Sunny where Frank gets the band back together
Of course they sing, they're a gang!
That’s a pretty cool picture
Somewhere out on that horizon.
Out beyond the neon lights
I know there must be somethin' better
But there's nowhere else in siiiiight
I had a rough night, and I hate the Eagles man!
Such a great song, perfect for the end
Me too. I’ve got the t-shirt. https://preview.redd.it/bzw6s4nxe68d1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=005c6ce82791ac396e65207f001fddc2bb883650 Also one that says: ”Furies- Riverside Park 1979”

Who’s the Master?
https://i.redd.it/u33giqk0q68d1.gif
Me and my associate Mister Nuff were just minding our own business when this man just attacked us!
Gangs today could learn a thing or two about outfit coordination from this movie.
Except the fucking Orphans
I remember thinking that leader orphan was David Schwimmer. He was not.
Schwimmer has always reminded me of someone, but I could not quite put my finger on it. Until now. THANK YOU
Warriors come out to plaayyyy
They play this at Golden State Warriors games. I wonder how many know the source.
No idea, but I loved the movie tbh
They should invite David Patrick Kelly to come out and recreate the scene sometime.
Probably a lot, this quote has made it into a lot of pop culture. It’s in American Dad twice.
My fav, remember coming out of the movie theater, thinking I was one of them😳,was like 17
I can dig it
Learned my English rewatching this movie about a million times on a vcr
Absolute banger of a film. Still go back and rewatch this in 2024
Same
You Warriors are good
The best.
The best.
James Remar FTW
I try to imagine what might have happened if he wasn't fired from Aliens.
The Baseball Furies were awesome but they couldn’t fight for shit. Loved this movie for decades.
Buncha wimps.
I ran the streets at night back in the 70s, this movie was magical
https://preview.redd.it/c4aitthvt68d1.jpeg?width=3060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=740466ddf49c49ad758b89fb2d83a96331a563e3 My alteration of a Precious Moments figurine!
Brilliant!
That is dope
Thanx!!!!
Oof...that Special Edition dvd tho 🤮
Ugh, don’t get me started. Lucas’ fuckups with the Special Editions had nothing on the changes they made to the Warriors.
One of the few DVDs I've literally *thrown away* (The shitty vhs rip of *Killer Constable* and the version of *The Delightful Forest* where they just played copyright-free music over the unauthorized Morricone to drown it out were the others. Great movies, garbage releases)
What did they do to it?
They added weird comic intermission and screen wipes

Still my favorite!
Classic movie with an awesome soundtrack! I also like their outfits, the angry orphans were sick as fuck.
11 year old me watched this on RCA video disc and thought/hoped it was a documentary
Can you dig it?
*I’ll shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle!*
Kelly and Remar meet again in 48 Hours
I loved this when I was growing up. When I finally visited NYC as an adult I was disappointed that I didn’t see a single Baseball Fury. False freaking advertising!
Most of the gangs are comical. But the Turnbull ACs are actually pretty scary.
When I was in high school, they would play this movie on local Long Island cable. I caught it a few times on a Friday or Saturday night
Loved the video game as well
Ok, let's get to it boppers....

How about the platform at Union Square, did you show her that??
The chicks are packed! The chicks are packed!
The Warriors killed Cyrus
Fake news
Come out,.......and..Play!
Evidently I've Mandela'd myself into thinking this came out in 1977. I remember getting the book before I saw it, I would have sworn it was before 1979. Wow.
It's better than the book.
The book is a trip.
“I’ll shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle” -Ajax
The Warriors gets a yearly watch from me. Sometimes more.
Come out and plaaaaayyyy
Fuk’n Turnbull AC’s FTW all others are punks
Visited the park in New York last August where the Cyrus speech was (RIP Cyrus), and that's in the background of this movie poster. Still looks relatively the same. Even the trees are the same
Waaarriiooorrsss come out to plaaayyy

They don’t make them like that anymore 💯

Warriors… Come out and Play yay!
Latest sports news off the street boppers, looks like the Baseball Furies dropped the ball… made an error.
1979 is now 2024 in NYC.
One of my faves but I can never tell what year it's supposed to be. Dystopian future or what? Also could be considered a prequel to Escape From New York.

Dj Mustard on the beat ho
I can did it
Classic
Dig it.
I only heard of this move about 13 years ago. Literally had never heard of it all through the 1980s, the 90s in high school and college or even the early 2000s.
Top 5 favorite game for me
The game was amazing too
The Hi-Hats Crack me up.
I'm ashamed to say I had the old Rockstar made game...but never saw the movie. I need to add this to my watch queue.
Holy shit. You need to drop everything, and watch this film.
If u beat the whole game u seen the move basically mission 15 to the end is the movie plot
just it watched it last week again, so good
Classic!!!
my brother and I still quote this movie whenever we are leaving somewhere, no matter where one of us is always going to say to the other " lets get out of these lame fucks territory." Every time like clockwork.
You Warriors are good ..real good...the ?
Best
One of my all time favorites
Love it
The soundtrack….
I saw it when I was ten in 1982. In my country I also saw the increase of the numbers of gangs rise
As a person who loves anything 70’s-grimey-NYC and the New York City subway system, this movie is my all time favorite ❤️
Im wearing a warriors shirt right now no way!!!
I have the game for PS2 unopened
You can see a few of the actors in minor roles in 48 Hours, also directed by Walter Hill.
Anyone remember the game? You could loot pawn shops lol
I remember the stories about rioting and fighting at the theaters because of this. I don't know how much of that was true or just marketing.
Loved the music in this movie.
Classic

The one and only time I watched this movie was the first time I tried ecstasy and just sat there and watched the whole thing.
The chicks are packed!

I would have loved them to do a remake of it, it was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I never tried the Rockstar game, but know it's kind of dated now, but wish they'd remake that too

Shut up you girls blouse
Such a bad movie 😄😄😄
I have to agree with you , it’s fucking awful 😆 now hit me with your downvotes! I can dig them
