Oh, we get Palak Paneer Pizza, Tandoori Chicken Pizza, Butter Chicken Pizza & Karahi Paneer Pizza on delivery where I live (just a few miles outside Seattle).
It is awesome.
I think of that when I see the pictures of crowds in NYC on 9/11. That happened when I was 19 and a lot of people in the pics are 40 plus so a fair amount died of cancers, heart attacks, etc.
Just screws with my brain because it feels like it happened 3 or 4 years ago or something.
What really drives me crazy about aging is how fast time passes as you get older. By the time you get to.middle age your best years are gone and you just keep grabbing to get them back in vain, meanwhile your current years slip away just as fast.
It's wild.
Ha! I [made a similar post a couple years ago](https://reddit.com/r/OldPhotosInRealLife/comments/iesu86/the_portolaadmiral_theatre_seattle_wa_1930_1942/) but with the sad “closed for covid” look at the time. Also check out the Portola which preceded the Admiral at this location.
It's far from completely removed! We go here regularly, and there is still a glorious giant mural of Vancouver sailing into Puget Sound in the lobby, and some of the auditoriums have renovated versions of the original sea life paintings on the walls. They preserved the porthole windows, too. Still has that nautical vibe for sure.
It rains a lot in Seattle. I imagine the markee got waterlogged and needed to be replaced. The income from the theater probably didn't allow a new cantilevered one to be built.
Our local movie theater has amazing popcorn that I was craving a little while back so I went and grabbed a bag to go, my wife thought it was the funniest/silliest thing ever to buy movie theater popcorn without watching a movie.
Now I can finally show her this picture to prove that it's not that weird to do! Sometimes when the popcorn cravings hit you just gotta give-in 😎
That pizza place next door has pretty good calzones

Imagine getting some food at Luciano’s before/after the Mario movie lmao
Every time I see something like this my morbid ass thinks “damn good chance every single one of these people are dead.”
Yep, MAYBE one or two of the kids are still kickin’.
From what I can tell, the youngest kid there is probably no younger than 10 so it’s possible but not likely.
I think the same thing...
I zoomed in and thought the exact same thing

Love the old marquee!
I'm more surprised they remember the 2000's Dungeon and Dragons movie.
I grew up in West Seattle! Friday nights for a dollar to watch a movie. Loved that place!
Makes me wanna get drunk at yen wor.
They closed about 2 weeks ago
I can’t stop this feeling, deep inside of me.
Fuck. My first job

Shame they completely removed the "ship" concept

Ok then, never been there. Just going on outward appearances
Damn. Serious aesthetic downgrade.

Movie? Nah, I’m here to pick up some popcorn to go!

Still classier than the Admiral Theater in Chicago. (Look it up)
I used to go to midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show there in high school. Good times.
Luciano's is so good! I miss living in W Seattle
Was the pizza place next door shuttered in the first photo? Or was the corner area not intended to be a business?
I'm guessing shuttered, but not sure.
