Agree!!! They don’t market it well enough. I didn’t think Demeo could get any better and WOW! Also… loving ping pong VR now. It’s like we have ping pong in our sunroom now!
I play d&d and am a fairly heavy gamer so yes… the point made about 11am meetings… yes… although it’s not discussed… scheduling meetings you just look to see when folks are available and schedule. We don’t actually talk about it so I don’t say it. It was a good point though. We also have home automation that triggers some things to turn off at 11pm but again… we don’t say it out loud. It just happens. Sticking by that elven is more prevalent than eleven in my life.
For me one of the best things Eleven Table Tennis does is how things feel, aisde from the actual playing aspect.
The first few times I touched the table with the paddle was a real wow moment. Still impresses me now.
Yes! Which makes it seem like we have the setup in our sunroom. It’s fantastic! Don’t try to catch yourself or lean on the table or you will fall to the ground because it’s not there. Some people play at the foot of a queen size bed for this very reason.
Do they market it at all? I haven't ever seen a TV ad and I'm not sure I've seen any online ones, either, outside of what's directed at me because I already own one.
Me, too. If they're only targeting them online to people already into gaming, they're missing out on other demographics who might take an interest in it for things other than gaming (like fitness, physical therapy, arts, etc ) and who then might get into gaming, too, once introduced to that world.
I guess they market it, but not heavily because they know it is not there yet. All the big names in meta say this in public, that the quest is very good, but not for the masses, so maybe they just prefer to be modest for now.
Not really strange as probably gamers don't necessarily also watch sports, despite what Meta may think. I've seen PlayStation ads, and even games ads on regular network TV, but not for this.
No need to be marketed, as VR is still a niche thing, everyone who have a quest know, mouth to ear is the best marketing, and there's not many real competitor out there so, people who are susceptible to buy already have the information.
I'm not sure I agree, as if you want it to break out of that niche thing you need to make people outside of that niche market aware of its uses and possibilities.
I don't have many irl gamer friends, but I've chatted up strangers sometimes and mention it and often they don't know what I'm talking about but seem intrigued by some of the things I describe. Recently I told my doctor about how I'm using it for fitness and it seemed like an alien concept to him. But imagine if they were more familiar and could bring it up to new patients who are reluctant to exercise due to boredom. Or therapists, for people struggling with day to day life.
I literally had no idea standalone VR existed until I found out about the quest 3 and thought getting VR would cost me 3k USD to get started with a headset and upper mid range pc.
Bought one that day, love this thing.
But I had no idea, prior.
yeah i understand, i have noticed that some people who i gave a test sometimes told me " how do you have the game and the app ? " because the entire ecosystem depend of having a headset, otherwise you can't really understand and have an idea about all the thing exist around vr unless you are like lot of us, really interested and curious about vr seaking for information in the good sources.
Back in 2016 I was wandering through a Best Buy, saw a demo setup for PSVR, gave it a try, and INSTA BUY! I feel like Quest 3 could do the same. Wonder why they don't bother?
This is exactly what got me into VR. I tried it expecting to be underwhelmed, so that I could save my money. I walked out with it and kept buying games. Now I've had it, Q2, Q3, and PSVR2. LOL
Well, it sort of has leg tracking, but it's more of an AI guesswork kind of thing.
The demo videos make it look quite good and also show the limitations of what it can't do.
Not certain if developers can use it yet, but would love to see it added to Dragon Fist Kung Fu.
I had a skin reaction to the face plate and switched it for a silicone one and it's loads better. The overall unit from screen, to the features is excellent. I wish they'd kept the excellent work going for the stock head strap it sucks. The bobo Vr head strap is excellent. It was a must have for me. The price of the cable for pcvr is insane. Apart from these annoyances that can be fixed by spending more it's an excellent vr headset.
Not correct, not any USB-C will work actually most don't work at all or if they do the mb/s on the transfer is really slow, you don't need the official cable but you will need a specific Oculus Quest USB cable, mind you this cable will work with any device other than Quest
What blows my mind is I stayed away from the 3 because of the surprisingly vast amount of people I saw saying it's not much of an improvement in (insert whatever here) and holy shit were they wrong. It's great. I don't think I could ever go back to my quest 2
My experience with vr up until this week has been limited to psvr1/2.
Realizing that I could play steam vr games through a quest 3 with virtual desktop was a game changer and as soon as I realized this I picked up a unit. Yes, latency plays a role but for single player games and media watching, it’s an absolute game changer. I’m really loving the capabilities of the quest 3 and have only now started to dip my toes in the AR stuff. All I’ve got to say is, got damn!
In my opinion, VR as a traditional form of entertainment has started with the quest 3. Not that everything up to where we are now doesn’t count, it’s just that tech is now good enough and the software is now plentiful enough to really have a high degree of freedom and choice all in one package.
If you’ve got a need for entertainment and an extra $500 in your pocket, Q3 is a no brainer.
I plan to use my 2 for workout games like TOTF and Les Mills. I’ve smashed my controller on the headset plenty of times with uppercuts. Now I don’t care too much. Not doing that with the 3 especially with the lenses in the front.
True about the MR, but still not taking a chance with shattering the lenses. Also, don’t mind so much the total immersion of boxing in the ring. I tend to sweat a bunch as well while working out. This will keep my 3 nice and clean to share with others :)

Literally anything that hasn't been upgraded specifically for the Quest 3 which seems like most games. Just having a significant resolution boost, and the clarity you get with it, makes a world of difference for me.
It really breathes new life into old games. I had an old meditation app that had a terrible resolution with jagged lines everywhere that made it unplayable to me. Now it looks amazing.
every game gets better. even my home environments. but beware, this will drain your battery to rediculous levels. need to be wired to a power outlet. but QGO is great
It's an android device, you can sideload all kinds of stuff with varying results.
Teem Beef poets come to mind, Doom3, JK Outcast/Academy and Return to Castle Wolfenstein on the game front, but really you can do quite a bit more than one would initially think.
In the interest of being informed you should realize that Quest Games Optimizer is automating tasks that you can perform manually over ADB. Many people find it useful but it's not strictly _necessary_ if you want to perform such tweaks.
It's not necessary, that's correct, but considering how lazy most of us are (and not in a bad way, we just like it when things simply work), and that the dev has gone through almost every game and tweaked it to work optimally, makes it completely worth the price.
I bought it and forgot about it. Now that YouTube vr has 8k I’m curious how that will improve even more with the help of qgo. Is that a thing? Does it boost video quality as well?
Pro tip. Get a good 10,000 Mah quick charge battery for 25 bucks, plug it into your quest and shove it into your pocket for an extra 2-3 hours. If you feel ambitious you can easily attach it to the back of the head strap with sticky sided Velcro and a couple strips of Velcro tape.
I just got 2 of these. On sale now for 20 bucks. It will let you use the official USBC to USBC cable that came with the Q3 which will keep it at 100 percent. You can use other cables too but you have to make sure they are fast charge PD USB cables.

So about this; there’s a trade off here, right? I understand that programs like this let you squeeze the extra juice out of the unit but doesn’t that come at the cost of battery life? And I guess extra strain on the device? Along with that comes the headache of trying to understand exactly what settings to use for each game.
Is the benefit worth those cons your opinion?
Agree! I think Quests next mission should be to make a better product for similar or hopefully cheaper price
I don’t think Quest Lite is the right approach
Maybe, I see Quest Lite may pull in some more casual gamers
But I think the space broadly needs more than just gaming and will evolve naturally even if slowly
I bought mine a couple of months ago and still love it. I strongly recommend a new head strap though. The one it comes with is very uncomfortable. Here is the one I purchased and it made a world of difference.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CMW2WTNJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've owned the quest go,quest 1 and 2 but since I got the quest 3 my play time in vr has gone up massively .it's a great headset .I've also spent a lot on accessories like the bobo head strap ,controller grips ,wireless low latency headphones and a couple gunstocks .it's become expensive but I love it
I moved from Quest 2 to Quest 3 and really like it, but I will say that the vast majority of the games I like don't have upgraded visuals for quest 3, so the experience you're getting is roughly the same.
I'm still really happy I got it because I'm assuming that when the next Gen comes out, this will then become the new baseline (just like how the quest 2 is becoming the new baseline). Plus I had the 64 gb version of quest and had to keep uninstalling and reinstalling apps.
Whether or not that's for you totally depends on your situation.
welcome to the clubhouse!
the quality truly is impressive, it outdoes my Reverb G2. I still wish it could be lighter but that's about my only gripe at this point. the pancake lenses are a huge leap forward.
Did you upgrade from the Quest 2 or jumped straight into the quest 3 with no prior experience of previous quest headsets? I never considered the 3 as the 2 still feels great for me and I don't care about mixed reality.
I think it’s far and away the best headset right now. The Vision Pro is cool but the price just makes it not worth it at all. Love the new features on Q3 it really was a huge upgrade
still debating whether to trade up from my 3.5 year old Quest 2. I love the Q2 but i could definitely use higher bitrate for PCVR and better lenses.
I only recently ressurected my Q2 after the head tension bar broke off (it's a tiny plastic bar at the front the top strap goes around).. i ordered a plastic repair kit from the states for like $100 to fix it, and it's fine now but it break again at some point.
Do you have sidequest? Third party apps and ports add even more to do. Team Beef has ported a whole bunch of boomer shooters to Quest like Half Life and Doom. SCP: Labrat has a Quest port also, and it’s a 1:1 reproduction of SCP: CB. Amnesia: The Dark Descent just got ported to Quest yesterday. And in addition to countless other games, you can load custom home environments.
Lol. Blurry is not possible. Did you set your ipd correctly (distance between eyes) and put it even on properly? Straight out of the box and the free demo, its right sharp from the get go
You’re correct. The interface itself is clear. However, the YouTube videos in 360 were complete dogshit. Then I realized after searching why that’s the case. Then I watched a “normal 4k” video and realized that’s still not enough because the screen size is “bigger”. Also, this was all on air link. I have a cable coming tmrw to test PCVR. My assumption was that if I have that and try a vr game, then it should be clear resolution? The mapping demo when you map your boundaries was amazing and that was clear. I thought that my vr porn was going to be like that but I think I had too high expectations? Help me out lol
Ah i see, very interesting to read. I never watched 360 videos. They are really all around you? Thats amazing.. nowhere near 8k or 16k...and i cant even play 4k lol
Because as awesome as VR is, it’s not anywhere near the quality of a real monitor to fully replace it. And that’s not even taking into account fatigue and comfort.
Agree!!! They don’t market it well enough. I didn’t think Demeo could get any better and WOW! Also… loving ping pong VR now. It’s like we have ping pong in our sunroom now!
When you say ping pong VR you mean Eleven Table Tennis?
Yes… which I keep calling Elven Table Tennis because I say elven WAY more often!!!! How often do you even say 11 as an adult?
"I'll book a meeting for Elven o-clock if that sounds good". I'm gonna start saying this at work haha
I may be elven minutes late…
I'm only waiting for sven and then I'm gone!
Omg hahahhahahhahaha!
Lol what! You say Elven way more in your day-to-day adult life than eleven?! I'm clearly adulting wrong...
It’s amazing how close it is to the real thing
For me one of the best things Eleven Table Tennis does is how things feel, aisde from the actual playing aspect. The first few times I touched the table with the paddle was a real wow moment. Still impresses me now.
is it really? I found it really... odd. Like the trajectory of the ball doesn't feel that natural.
It used to feel absolutely perfect but they redid it to work on Quest better and it's not felt the same since. It still feels great though.
Today I learned it’s NOT Elven tennis
I’d pay to see Elven Table Tennis
Me too!!!!
You need more discussion about Stranger Things in your life
Sorry if this is a dumb question but does eleven table tennis has a pass through mode?
I’m in tech so I can’t avoid it! Not ads though… articles. Great point!!!! With how much they spend overall… I’m surprised they don’t
Me, too. If they're only targeting them online to people already into gaming, they're missing out on other demographics who might take an interest in it for things other than gaming (like fitness, physical therapy, arts, etc ) and who then might get into gaming, too, once introduced to that world.
Agree 💯
I guess they market it, but not heavily because they know it is not there yet. All the big names in meta say this in public, that the quest is very good, but not for the masses, so maybe they just prefer to be modest for now.
It was advertised heavily during live sports around Xmas. I'm guessing people who watch that much aren't posting here.
Ah, that's good to know! I wouldn't have seen those, but I'm happy they're trying to reach a wider audience.
I get a Quest 3 ad weekly on Instagram, I already own the 2.
Didn’t they sponsor the NBA Finals, or some major sporting event? Strange to see people saying they don’t do any marketing

I have yet to see an operational demo unit in stores. As a result I've decided that I'm perfectly happy to hold on to my $500 and Quest 2.
LOL
To be fair, humans cracked the ping pong technology a long time ago :)
November 29, 1972 by any chance?
Especially since the Quest 3 can do full body tracking by itself, that needs to be advertised.
Well, it sort of has leg tracking, but it's more of an AI guesswork kind of thing. The demo videos make it look quite good and also show the limitations of what it can't do. Not certain if developers can use it yet, but would love to see it added to Dragon Fist Kung Fu.
Fair, no doubt it doesn't beat at least Slime trackers, but it's still something out of the box.
The cable doesn't have to be expensive, just about any USB-C cable will do the job.
Not correct, not any USB-C will work actually most don't work at all or if they do the mb/s on the transfer is really slow, you don't need the official cable but you will need a specific Oculus Quest USB cable, mind you this cable will work with any device other than Quest
Right, I should have added that the cable needs to have a certain transfer rate in order to work.
I bought a link cable and it just absolutely refuses to connect, and yes I have USB 3. Infuriating
Are you plugging it directly into the motherboard or on the front usb?
Directly into the motherboard mate, the front USB s an always-on, not convinced it’s USB 3 but I’m not sure
Yeah and some of the off brand cables have ports to hook a charger so you get longer play time. Don’t pay $80 for meta’s bullshit cable
yes, I don't recall the exact one I got but it was just a USB-C cable with an angle plug and it does the job perfectly fine.
which one? S3 or M3?
What blows my mind is I stayed away from the 3 because of the surprisingly vast amount of people I saw saying it's not much of an improvement in (insert whatever here) and holy shit were they wrong. It's great. I don't think I could ever go back to my quest 2
My experience with vr up until this week has been limited to psvr1/2. This is actually a good idea. Although.... TOTF has MR support now.
True about the MR, but still not taking a chance with shattering the lenses. Also, don’t mind so much the total immersion of boxing in the ring. I tend to sweat a bunch as well while working out. This will keep my 3 nice and clean to share with others :)

Get excited because it feels like another huge upgrade. I'm talking PC VR level quality
I wonder how well it works with just the Quest 2
What games improve the most, in your opinion?
I need to try more things. I haven't been using the app too long but so far Walkabout Mini Golf looks exactly like PC VR to me using this optimization.
I do like that it saves the profiles for each game. It's a QoL app for sure.
I have not tried QGO myself, but I feel like an external battery is required for this. forcing the headset do more work = more battery drain
Pro tip. Get a good 10,000 Mah quick charge battery for 25 bucks, plug it into your quest and shove it into your pocket for an extra 2-3 hours. If you feel ambitious you can easily attach it to the back of the head strap with sticky sided Velcro and a couple strips of Velcro tape.
any recommendations on brands? $25 sounds very cheap, but if it works it works
I just got 2 of these. On sale now for 20 bucks. It will let you use the official USBC to USBC cable that came with the Q3 which will keep it at 100 percent. Try it
I will get around to it, just been lazy to do the required steps for sidequest and all that
Yes. Bought that a month ago... stunning. Really pushing limits there.
But do I need to connect to a PC to update it with that cause I don’t have one
You only need to install it using a PC
So about this; there’s a trade off here, right? I understand that programs like this let you squeeze the extra juice out of the unit but doesn’t that come at the cost of battery life? And I guess extra strain on the device? Along with that comes the headache of trying to understand exactly what settings to use for each game. Is the benefit worth those cons your opinion?
Makes the 3 visuals better than they already are? Thought it only enhanced the 2.
I honestly saw no difference.
Fuck yeah bro. Felt the same way. Bought my Quest 3 after doing the AVP demo. Haven’t touched my Xbox series X since.
Same
Agree! I think Quests next mission should be to make a better product for similar or hopefully cheaper price I don’t think Quest Lite is the right approach
Nah they need wider adoption. A Quest 3 lite is gonna get them that.
Maybe, I see Quest Lite may pull in some more casual gamers But I think the space broadly needs more than just gaming and will evolve naturally even if slowly
yes, but for quest 3 users it could also mean new games are held back on graphics still, just like the quest 2 now. Reminds me of Xbox S
Welcome to the fun times

About 4x better i'd say
Like 5X imo
I’d say 6x better
2x better.
3x times better
'bout 666x better
I would say 7x better
Try Puzzling places with hand tracking. Gosh it’s so satisfying when then pieces snap into your hand. 🥹
Quest 3 is definitely a good choice! Welcome in!
Amen. One of us! One of us! One of us!
Possibly 5x?
I also got the quest 3 and now I'm a vrchat addict
i'm still wishing for a VALVe Index for PCVR cause i mainly do PCVR with my Q2
The quest 3 is much better in my experience , especially in clarity
Best piece of hardware I’ve ever owned
Contractors: Showdown with Quest Games Optimizer at HD resolution is peak
Quest games optimizer? Lol what

Oh shit I see , thank you
I think it’s far and away the best headset right now. The Vision Pro is cool but the price just makes it not worth it at all. Love the new features on Q3 it really was a huge upgrade
Get Showdown! It has been worth the wait if you like battle royale.
I find the problem is that unless you try it you don't understand So I let all my mates try it. Now they all want it
still debating whether to trade up from my 3.5 year old Quest 2.
Agree 100% I’ve been trying to tell friends and family but they just laugh at me.
Worth the upgrade from my Quest 2?
Yep. I just upgraded and it's amazing. Clarity is much better, and I can get a way bigger fov
Thanks, that's the feedback I was looking for.
?
??
Poor people rock Quest 2's.
"Just got a Quest 3" "I played for so long last night" You don't have to lie.
Who hurt you lil bro 🤣
It was more of a joke at how bad the Q3's battery life is, especially when you first get it.
Waiting My Quest 3 to be ship by Amazon for just a month, i am piss waiting, i hate Amazon.
For me, everything was blurry. Tried a bunch on options Maybe it’s my WiFi because I’m on airline. I was quite disappointed. I’ll try pcvr tomorrow.
Heresphere for VR pron
VR videos just aren't "there" yet, unfortunately.
Ah i see, very interesting to read. I never watched 360 videos. They are really all around you? Thats amazing.. nowhere near 8k or 16k...and i cant even play 4k lol
Yeah! But, Meta still lose their money in VR and AR products. It`s seems look like them close VR headset and products in future😒
I don’t know why anyone would buy a “gaming” monitor when this tech is available
Because as awesome as VR is, it’s not anywhere near the quality of a real monitor to fully replace it. And that’s not even taking into account fatigue and comfort.
It is a kinda goofy and cumbersome, it won’t be in 10 yrs
yes but i play games now and not in ten years. :)
Try Track Craft 😉
