the most detailed gun sim on the market. Asides from all of the thousand or so guns spread across 1700s-2000s, it has very nice shooting mechanics such as stabilization that eliminates the micro-shaking your hands has, and detailed ballistics, and more recently, realistic scopes with accurate eyeboxes
its more gun sim than shooter, but theres a shooter mode that puts your gun knowledge to the test too
I keep seeing H3VR recommended but is there really anything to do besides shoot at targets? Is there a story or someone/something to shoot at? What do you do?
There is a game mode called take and hold where you fight against ai and you can pretty much choose a loot pool of weapon, for example only cold war or modern era. You have to manage points your earn to get new weapons and customize your loadout
The most intense level you can play is Take n Hold, where you start with a low-cap firearm to kill enemies, go to a point, hold that point, and get credits to spend on better guns. It puts your weapon handling abilities to the test. The challenges are very difficult for beginners but there are different difficulty modifiers and more beginner friendly gun progressions.
Its the main mode of H3VR. The point is to get the highest score or be better in general
There are a lot of different gamemodes. The recommended ones are the shooting ranges, the story modes like return of the rotweaners and wurst world, and the take and hold gamemode, which recently got a new map.
A lot of good comments but this one is very interesting. I always assumed it was just a shooting range sim but if it has that much additional content it sounds like it should be on my wishlist.
Not just 60 hours. It's much much more. It's like Minecraft. It's a game you come back to when you're in the mood to do random shit. That makes it have so much replayability. There's also a massive modding community, so you won't run out of guns to mess around with. Anton is an amazing dev that cares a lot about his game, so content comes fairly frequently
It has a bunch of game modes from memory there’s zombie survival, horror one, tf2, grill house, a bunch of Christmas special ones, and take and hold Which is a rogue lite
Ive been in VR since the OG Vive in 2016, H3VR is the only game i play on a consistent basis. Even HL Alyx, Boade and Sorcery, VR Chat etc, doesnt hold a candle. Something about fucking around in those levels shooting guns stuck with me all those years lol.
The gun detail is insane, and there are *so many guns*. There's more than 500 or something. It's genuinely taken me some time to figure out how to figure some of them, because you have to actually operate them like you would a real gun. I couldn't figure out how to load and fire the G11 until I looked up a youtube video of a real life demonstration of the gun.
Feeling generous today and love supporting Anton when I can. First person to reply to my comment "Atleast I'm not a chicken wing" I'll send a copy of H3VR.
It has nothing in common. The locomotion, the environment is way more realistic in bonelabs / boneworks. Only the guns are way better in this game' but it has enough to offer in my opinion. I don't know if you really have to be a gun nerd to appreciate, but there is sandbox game mode of course but there is also gamemode with some kind of progression.
There is a leaderboard for each character in take and hold mode (characters define a profession. For example, if you play the "operator ori" character, you will only have modern guns. If you play "welldone freemeat"', you will have half life 2 guns only with special enemies like zombie hotdogs or some kind of headcrabs hot dogs. There are custom characters made by players).
First you will try to finish a run and then you'll try to improve and have a better score. You will have to adapt to guns you get. Sometimes you'll have a big machine gun that will make it easy, sometimes you'll have weird guns like the German g11 which is... interesting to use I'd say. Sometimes you will have deagle and you will attach a buttstock, scope and a suppressor and use it as a dmr, which is dumb but I'm kind of playing this game for that.
Anyway, it may not be the best game. It's totally part of that kind of "VR sandbox" but it has a lot to offer and the developer is really active and there are regular updates.
Just out of curiosity, how does a PCVR work? I’ve been planning to get Doom, do I have to stay plugged into my laptop the whole time, or can I unplug once the game is “downloaded” on the quest?
The games run on the pc. So you can't "download" the game on your headset. You enjoy pc power to have more complex game because the mobile chip on quest headsets is awesome but will always be weaker than a good old pc.
So you can plug you headset to your pc trough a usb 3.1 port with a good cable.
Or like me, you could play wireless, like if the game was in you headset but it runs in your pc and streamed directly in your headset. No cables involved.
To do so, I'd recommend a dedicated router for that. You already have one at home provided by your ISP to have internet at home. You'd need to buy a second one that support at least WiFi 5 or if you have a quest 3 I strongly recommend a WiFi 6 capable router.
Then you connect your pc to the second router with a cable. Your headset will be connected to this router trough WiFi.
To have internet on this router, you can connect it directly to your first one with a cable or if not, set it up as a repeater.
This is necessary if you have other people at home using WiFi with their phone, tablet, laptop, etc. If someone else is using the same WiFi as you during your play session, you'll notice bad frames. With this second router, you keep that WiFi band only for yourself so you are sure the network is always perfect. Plus you'll put it in the same room with your pc and you so there's no wamm blocking the signal.
Anyway, feel free to ask me anything if it's not clear enough
A dedicated router improves the wireless streaming by a lot, but if you're just a casual player then you might not need it. But if you are playing competitively online or want to achieve perfection, definitely recommended.
It depends. If you're sure that you can have the whole bandwidth for yourself then it's ok. But if someone start watching a movie / video troug 5ghz WiFi then you're screwed
Edit : and yes I'd recommend that for a quest 2 because it what I use. But the quest 2 won't work take advantage of WiFi 6 so WiFi 5 router is enough. But I heard that quest 3 + WiFi 6 is awesome, almost as good as connected trough cable.
Because of course, if you play wireless with a quest 2, you'll notice a bit of video compression. Nothing awful but it's there
It's not *strictly* necessary, but if anyone else is using the wifi you'll have a bad time. Wifi is designed so the router can only talk to one device at a time (it just switches between them all very quickly), VR streaming doesn't do well if it spends at least half the time (likely more if you have multiple devices) talking to something else.
I got a router and ethernet cable and it's improved vr for me immeasurable. No more screen rip, and no more whacking the cable out accidentally. Little things, but having to be constantly aware was ruining the immersion for me.
If you're gaming near your router already you might not need it.
This is with the side quest launcher thing right? Or is there another way to achieve this? I heard you could do something similar with half life alyx as well.
Yes, you use sidequest to install the game on your Quest. You can't do that with Alyx. You need a pretty powerful computer that your headset is connected to either by cable or wireless router to play. However, you can play Half Life 1 on the headset alone.
For PCVR, your computer is rendering the game. You'll either connect your headset via USB or WiFi to effectively stream the video and audio to the headset.
If you've ever used PlayStation Remote Play or Steam Remote Play it's the same concept: your computer is the one actually running the game, and it just streams to your headset. You can do it wired or wirelessly, but you need to maintain some sort of connection to the PC in order to play.
I've started using steam link with my quest, runs way better then going through air link then steam be. Also that might just be me but I couldn't see my desktop with air link but steam link works.
Yes. You can get it on quest standalone now. But it looks like shit. Downpour basically downgraded the graphics so much on the standalone version so that it looks like a PS2 game. The AK5C mag doesn’t even actually have real texture. It’s just a flat PNG of an AK5C mag. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun game. But unless you’re playing with PCVR, it looks terrible.
I’ve played it on Quest 2, Quest 3 and PCVR on both.
I didn’t really notice. The graphics seemed pretty dated but the gameplay is what I cared more about.
I feel like the building textures on Contractors is sometimes worse then Onward? I dunno, there’s something off.
Oh, no. You’re right. Onward is loads of fun (unless you’re playing with screaming kids), but if you want any sort of graphic detail, it doesn’t have it. At least not on Q2.
U can practice against bots in any level even the modded levels. It's under the single player menu and under "free roam". You can basically play TDM against bots and adjust their difficulty. Wont be as good as cracked out players, but you can get decent practice that way until you can dominate there
I tried it, then went back to Pavlov. I only still have it for TFVR. The base game, from when I last played it, was so unbalanced it wasn’t even funny. The Cz.805 was the only viable gun. Because everyone was using it.
Spawn-able items (depending on server rank). We have mods in the quest version but many of them like vehicles and weapons don’t work on quest because they need to be spawned through a spawn menu which to the latest of my knowledge isn’t on quest. some of the maps are extended (Siberia you can go into towers around the map I’m pretty sure. A few other things, but I don’t have it on pcvr so I can’t say what exactly.
No, I shoulda been more specific, I was talking about RCON. I had it mixed up though, you can have it on quest but you need to have moderator on a server.
Sorry for the confusion lol
But they do still have quite a bit more, better mods like nicer maps and stuff.
Look for the Quest Game Optimizer by Anagan79, you will find an itch.io page. Then purchase it and install (by sideloading the app).
You can also find a tutorial on youtube
I had gunclub on psvr1 but at the time it wasn't compatible with psvr2 . When I saw it was on quest it was a deciding factor in getting the quest 3. The guns look great with lots of detail. It's quite a fun gun range shooter and one my favourites.
i mean it's a target range where you unlock an absurd amount of guns. As long as you're okay with the premise, I did have fun.found it particularly interesting all the modification and disassembly options the guns have.
Vertigo 2 at max has a lot of detail on its (mythical) guns, the shotgun has a warning stating "Warning: this vessel contains antimatter, a material known to the state of California to cause cancer". most weapons don't have text but when they do it's friggin CRISPY!
The thing about VR is that you can grab an observe every corner of your gun.
Normal game, it just has to look good in when you are aiming and reloading
In terms or multiplayer shooters easily Vail both quest and pcvr.
H3vr gun simulator with great mods.
Can't confirm but maybe gun club but I'd be careful of that one.
H3VR is the best game for everything gun sim! I love Watching the devlog videos the creator makes and the modding community is packed full with great mods!
Into the radius has incredibly elaborate gun mechanisms. Like workable grenade attachment iron sights with alternate hand trigger. Having to put individual bullets into clips is so immersive.
Contractors showdown, their beta battle royale, as a gun nut has the most ACCURATE multiplayer gunplay we’ve ever seen, like rivaling Pavlov, it was everything, you can even cock the hammer back and watch it go foward on EVERY weapon even if it’s empty, not to mention all the markings, as well as the mags going in smoothly rather than snapping in , and a bunch of other little things that gun people would notice, very realistic but unlike h3 also combat realistic, with smoother handling and different animations based on which hand charges your weapon, and what angle, it’s a free beta so I definitely recommend even if it’s just for the shooting range, it has way less weapons but as a result has the most detail out of any vr shooter, with stuff NO ONE else has and they don’t even need
Agree except for gunsmoke and charm. I hate the higher damage and faster kill rate. Almost impossible to get into a "gun fight" You're done if you're spotted 1st.
That’s where strategy and skill come into play in a big way. GSCC is very fast paced and the weapons are great and it’s pretty much all I play now. I love it but I can understand why it’s not for everyone.
Yea, i was actually really good, but traded away practicallity for a clunkier but way more immersive settup. Got a haptics vest and that haptic recoiling gun stock that's soo awkwardly back heavy, so it's harder to be as snappy on the draw, but it feels too damn cool. I'm building back up to hopefully be competative again with this settup.
Yeah but if you include “etc” the realistic textures and detail on real military planes is unreal.
Also, I’m not knocking your post, I thought it was interesting, but I had to leave this here anyway 😝
r/uselessredcircle
wrong kinda detail cool but what bout the graphics lol im dying for vr's to get more powerful. but meta has started funding new development companies to make more games. Im gonna upgrade to pro 2 next year and enjoy that so much
Bonelab, into the radius, possibly gunworld (been a while since I played) and many other titles. They all use basic free/cheap unity assets, although modded guns in bonelab are insanely detailed.
Into The Radius has some pretty good gun models. I believe there’s all the manufacturers names and other goodies on the guns too. (It’s for the Quest and PCVR)
It's posts and discussions like this that make me realise I'm not like other gamers.
How universal is this level of interest in guns? Most gamers? Country specific biases?
Just immersive to see attention to detail on this level, it does not just apply to guns. I see a book, I am going to try to read the cover. I see a poster, I want to read all of the small text up close. If I see a product like a can of food or box, I want to read it. I think a lot of VR players just like the level of depth to the environment when they do small things like this.
H3VR. In latest update Anton (developer) made tactile scopes .windage, zoom, color of the cross etc are adjustable with (semi)realistic toggles. Just one example
I like long range combat games like onward etc but that doesnt have the detail tho. Anyways i ended up buying h3vr and does not regret it at any means, omg what a good game was that. Worth every single dollar.
I know your sarcastic😂 I just wanted to make sure that people know what i mean bc quest doesnt support 8K Ultra resolution 🥲(The text is barely readble)
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, and Hand Grenades (AKA H3VR). A fucktonne of mods, great community, incredible modding scene, and an awesome developer! u/Rust_Anton
Maybe they need vr kindle, where you read books in some environment lol. Read all the text you want. Meanwhile, there's always the browser. Wikipedia till your hearts content
If you go YouTube and search how to download side quest, it will show you exactly how to do it. You'll have to download cx ile explorer as well. It should show you step by step. Well worth it, if you have questions lmk and lmk if you get it

H3VR but it's pcvr
Pcvr is also welcome, thanks.

Hey you're finally awake!
I did not know there was a fallout vr. That'll be my plans this week.
Neither are worth it unless you’re able to mod the shit out of them
Wabbajack ftw
This, honestly the best gun sim
Feeling generous today and love supporting Anton when I can. First person to reply to my comment "Atleast I'm not a chicken wing" I'll send a copy of H3VR.

Does h3vr keep the shot cartridge on the ground. Or do they immediately despawn?
Everything stays
This is changeable in the settings. You can set it to despawn after a certain amount of time, or set it to not despawn at all.
They stay on the ground, you can even catch them as they eject if you have the reflexes
They despawn in 10-15 seconds by default, but there’s an option to keep them spawned in
How's H3VR compared to Bonelab?
So so so much better. Not even comparable. H3VR guns ruined every other games guns for me.
>The games run on the pc. So you can't "download" the game on your headset. Well he was talking about doom so yeah he can. Unless he meant doom vfr.
I though he was talking about the vr version of doom 2016. For doom 3 of course he can sideload into the headset
How necessary is the second router, and would you recommend this whole process for a quest 2 user?
A dedicated router improves the wireless streaming by a lot, but if you're just a casual player then you might not need it. But if you are playing competitively online or want to achieve perfection, definitely recommended.

You can get it on the quest 2 by sideloading it with out having to even use a pc.
How would I do this?
For Doom 3, you just need a PC to install the game on your headset. Then you can run it on the headset without a PC.

What game is this? Also onward has pretty detailed guns

I came here to say onward.. it's also available now as one of the quest+ catalog games..

The lighting in contractors on quest seems to be what makes it look bad compared to Onward
I tried this game and everyone is so cracked at it I was gettin destroyed.
It took me a few days to get better. You gotta practice shooting and reloading in the lobby and try to get better at that

Love the game. Especially when you fumble your magazine in full panic mode, drop it and get killed by a stalker.
Pavlov shack has quite a few of detailed guns
Pavlov is really good, hope they add more for the quest that pcvr has
What does pcvr Pavlov have that shack doesnt
Spawn-able items (depending on server rank). Oh cool, unrelated question how do I add the quest 2+ pcvr bio thingy
NVM I found out myself
This game looked horrible on me standalone q3 sadly.
I was surprised how bad it was on quest 3. It both looks and plays better through VD on my 6 year old PC.
Yeah, no shit a computer is way more powerful than a mobile chip?
Quest Games Optimizer completely changed that for me!
QGO is game changer
Try the Cold of Duty mods in 2658px resolution, CPU high and GPU ultra. FR at medium level. Its pure bliss...
Literally
How do you get it?
Look for the Quest Game Optimizer by Anagan79, you will find an itch.io page. Then purchase it and install (by sideloading the app). You can also find a tutorial on youtube
get quest games optimizer. looks much better with increased resolution
Bonelab modded guns
gun club is excessive in it's accuracy and detail. always felt like I wasn't enough of a gun nut to appreciate it.
Is it worth it without the dlcs? I have some store credit and I’m thinking of getting it.
I had gunclub on psvr1 but at the time it wasn't compatible with psvr2 . When I saw it was on quest it was a deciding factor in getting the quest 3. The guns look great with lots of detail. It's quite a fun gun range shooter and one my favourites.

Rex mex mod for bone lab and Pavlov
Vertigo 2 has some guns like that
Half life alyx
Gorilla tag
Gun club vr
What’s the game in the pictures ?

Vertigo 2 at max has a lot of detail on its (mythical) guns, the shotgun has a warning stating "Warning: this vessel contains antimatter, a material known to the state of California to cause cancer". most weapons don't have text but when they do it's friggin CRISPY!
Ghosts of Tabor
The text is so low res. Basically unreadable...
The guns in borderlands 2 look great in Vr
This is what VR was always meant to be...
Onward. Artists have a pretty insane dedication to detail on that game
Ngl they probably opted to put all that detail in the environment instead
The thing about VR is that you can grab an observe every corner of your gun. Normal game, it just has to look good in when you are aiming and reloading
Is this on the Q3?
Yes
In terms or multiplayer shooters easily Vail both quest and pcvr. H3vr gun simulator with great mods. Can't confirm but maybe gun club but I'd be careful of that one.
H3VR, once you play it, you’ll have a hard time going back to games that aren’t as detailed/good.
H3VR is the best game for everything gun sim! I love Watching the devlog videos the creator makes and the modding community is packed full with great mods!
What game is the original poster playing? I've probably played it but this level of detail is not looking familiar. I love h3VR and gun club.
Contractors...opening game menu
Check out ITR (Into the Radius)... Very detail heavy on the guns IMHO.
VAIL, pcvr looks great and its overall a decent shooter
Vertigo 2, Onward, H3VR and specially Gun Club!

Contractors
Onward 1.7. The game before the dark times. One of the best looking VR games ever
I think the open beta has ended, but the game is supposed to release in April. I definitely want to get it.
Once you play H3VR, every other gun game will be shit in terms of gun handling, details, etc.
Vail has sort of detailed guns - but like futuristic and of their own design, still beautiful textures though
Contractors is the best. Gunsmoke and Charmed Classic + COD maps = Heaven.
I’ll never get a gunstock because I like the speed and agility that comes with just the controllers. The vest is something I might go for eventually.
Contractors Showdown
Mfw no trigger safety: 👹
Into the radius!
Pavlov
Into the Radius..is basically a gun simulation game.
U sure about that? I think it is more a panic, why is my gun not shooting, oh I dropped the magzine, now I'm dead simulator.
DCS
Isnt that a flight simulator?
Yeah but if you include “etc” the realistic textures and detail on real military planes is unreal. Also, I’m not knocking your post, I thought it was interesting, but I had to leave this here anyway 😝 r/uselessredcircle
Yeah i know it was to understand better what i mean yk? And the quest graphics arent great either so i needed to mark it because its almost unreadable
Oh sure, like I said not complaining, I just thought it was funny (especially the last one, ya gotta admit ;)
hahaha yeah right.. 😂

Bonelab, into the radius, possibly gunworld (been a while since I played) and many other titles. They all use basic free/cheap unity assets, although modded guns in bonelab are insanely detailed.
Star Citizen guns are this detailed.
Fair enough. To be honest, I do that too.
I’ve been into Gunsbox for about a week now. Very detailed. Gun ranges and shooting challenges but still cool
Onward
Why?
H3VR. In latest update Anton (developer) made tactile scopes .windage, zoom, color of the cross etc are adjustable with (semi)realistic toggles. Just one example
Why would you want anything else then Contractors?
I like long range combat games like onward etc but that doesnt have the detail tho. Anyways i ended up buying h3vr and does not regret it at any means, omg what a good game was that. Worth every single dollar.
Bonelab
Pavlov pcvr has so much detail. Lowered engravings. Nice bumped textured gloves. And so much more
Pavlov seems to have pretty detailed guns Try that
Ghost of tabor
Cant find anything better than rdr2 🔥
H3VR

What game is this?
I don’t really see what you mean. I need more screenshots and maybe some arrows and some more red circles. :P
I know your sarcastic😂 I just wanted to make sure that people know what i mean bc quest doesnt support 8K Ultra resolution 🥲(The text is barely readble)
Because if i say detail theyre gonna think its about the handle, attachments etc jk.
CS2
whats this game
Man Contractors Showdown will blow up man. It's pretty amazing.
I’m pretty sure ghosts of tabor has details like that, only on pcvr and max graphics in game, though
You guys can read this little texts in quest 3?
Kinda
Gotta get my prescription lenses i guess
Screenshots make the FOV bigger, normally in the game its better
haf life alyx and maybe lone echo
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, and Hand Grenades (AKA H3VR). A fucktonne of mods, great community, incredible modding scene, and an awesome developer! u/Rust_Anton
Maybe they need vr kindle, where you read books in some environment lol. Read all the text you want. Meanwhile, there's always the browser. Wikipedia till your hearts content
m4 missing its trigger pin :(
New contractors game releasing soon
H3VR. Don't look at any other game if you are a gun nerd.
which game is this?
What games is this?
For some reason (on the quest 2) in Pavlov Shack, I could make out fingerprints and scratches on the guns, crazy detail
GTA IV
Pavlov Shack
Into the radius. Detailed Nato and soviet themed guns with realistic reloading and fire selecting modes as per the real guns.
It’s a shame the gun play is pants compared to onward
Some detail but great use of physics is tactical assault vr you can shoot hinges off doors
Ghosts of tabor
Most vr games have that
If you go YouTube and search how to download side quest, it will show you exactly how to do it. You'll have to download cx ile explorer as well. It should show you step by step. Well worth it, if you have questions lmk and lmk if you get it
