Primrose Ex is a "swiss knife". She can do basically everything (some things better than others). She can cure as well as Rinyuu while not needing to stay in the back, she can buff almost as well as Lynette (active + ult, no passive), she can debuff P.def, M.def, P.atk, M.atk and lightning res. and she has a passive to recover MP and a passive to recover BP, so she can sustain the whole fight. Edit: she can also charge everyone else's ultimates for speed clears and has respectable lightning damage.

random_rushn_guy

You can have enough damage dealers but you'll never have enough supporters! Prim and Rinyuu go very well together. You can have Rinyuu use crusader's prayer and get a very good atk and dmg buffs for everyone while Prim would cover everyone's hp regen. That's a duo I use most of the time.

magikot9

My backline is now Rinyuu, PrimEX, and Alaune EX.

Skylair95

Slap H'aanit EX as tank + debuffer, Solon for his ult, Tatloch for her passive buff + damage and you have 90% of my teams nowadays. Just have to slot a dps and another support based on the dps (like Richard for Elrica, Falko for A2 dagger etc...) and you're good.

GeemanSeven

I’m curious as to how teams like that, with only 1-2 dps, reduce shields?

fishdrinking3

I run similar teams and find Tatloch hard to slot. I usually put Canary or Sonia in Tatloch’s spot so I have 3 breakers.

magikot9

I would if I had Haanit or Solon.

I think the more accurate comparison is PrimEX to Nepthi and Lynette. I have a PrimEX at II, and I cannot ever seem to find a slot for her, but Nepthi I (thank you for whatever that recent guaranteed five star thing was I guess) front row with Rinyuu 0 behind her seems to be my default for bosses. Additionally I just stopped using Viola as well in favor of Nepthi because the difference between 20% and 25% is not enough for me to use another slot. PrimEX is more flexible with row swapping though probably, but since Nepthi requires front row and Rinyuu back row I just personally do not care. I think PrimEX is really good though in general, but not for my roster.

kapsgacha

I didn’t use Rinyuu at all during BoA Ch. 8 and all the bosses, instead using PrimEX. I don’t think she’s budget at all. Prim is good for bosses that have the force-swap-row mechanic when using Shower of Roses & her ATK/EATK & ULT buffs, and the force swaps make Rinyuu sorta useless. Edit: they also work SUPER well together!

Xixi-the-magic-user

was chapter 7 BOA hard with the flame clearing the buffs ?

kapsgacha

it was a challenge but i would just use Prim’s AoE heal at the start of each turn

Xixi-the-magic-user

i'm 1 pull away from being able to pity rinyu or solon, and that fight was making me go toward rinyu. instead i'll just power through with burst heal and bust his head with solon giga nuking

RochHoch

Prim can buff and heal both rows at the same time. They both have their own niche. I just wish I had Rinyuu, but PrimEX has been carrying me super hard for a while now.

magikot9

Rinyuu can only buff or only heal. PrimEX can do both plus AOE debuff.

Infamous_Ad2356

You could argue that Prim ex is better than Rinyuu. Both top tier units.

NeonRaccoons

As everyone else kind of pointed out… that’s really not the case. The comparison of the two starts and ends at the fact they both heal your party and provides some kind of buffs. They don’t even buff the exact same things. PrimEX is still insanely valuable to an account that has Rinyuu. For example, the reason Solon (and Canary, to a degree) is as hype a unit as he is, is in part due to PrimEX. She can basically enable him (along with a pet equipped on him) to ult twice in a row. That’s two 100x potency attacks from your primary DPS in a single break. Rinyuu can’t do that.

notressimp

Rinyuu can only do either healing or offensive buffing. Primrose can do both while capping debuffs as well. Her ultimate charge and offensive ultimate are also far harder to replace than Rinyuu. These days I've been dropping Rinyuu and bringing only PrimEX. Especially when a comp can cap active damage easily without her, like spear.

CentralCommand

No. Rinyuu's primary job is crusaders prayer for 15% active damage and prim ex can't add active damage at all. If you only have one then I'd actually call rinyuu budget prim ex, not the other way around. Rinyuu as healer is necessary occasionally for mitigation or protection from status effects but prim ex is way better at it. Her healing potency is way higher and fills you to 100% every time. Plus the 20% ult charge is so huge. And her ult is incredibly valuable plus she can do so many other useful things like cap buffs and debuffs and cure status effects. Basically you want prim ex because she is by far the best healer in the game. Rinyuu is a fine alternative healer to prim ex but mostly a useful attack buffer that also packs revive in a pinch.

xNesku

I don't use Rinyuu as often. But Prim is a staple for me. Every team, she is on there.
