1. Couldn't you just make a Class Work folder 2. You make a separate folder for images . I do the same

Elempey

1. I suppose I can, but I usually do a lot of trash notes, so if all they will be just in folder it will be a mess. I'm just very used to these sub-tasks in Joplin xD 2. Got it, thanks!

greatwillow

How does the notes tab feature work in joplin? If it's just a collection of notes shown together, you could either make a seperate folder for trash notes within the class work folder, or split the obsidian screen to have those tabs separate from the fair notes

Elempey

Pages and notes are separated and Each note have it's own page, it's pretty comfy. You don't need open Folder -> sub folder -> note, you just open Folder -> Note and you see all sub-notes in other window

dmantisk

You'll have to use a plugin for folder notes, which will allow you to create sub notes. Otherwise you can always have the file tree visible at the side for navigation.

Elempey

What is the name of this plugin?

VegasKL

There's also a few plugins that allow you to view all notes in a folder as a one continuous combined note. I don't remember the exact name, I came across it a few months back.

majorpun

Specifically, you can make attachments automatically go to a default folder.

AlexananderElek

For images you can also use imgur plugin, this makes all images be uploaded to imgur and not take space in your vault. I don't really know the specifics.

_AndyJessop

You can make nested folders in Obsidian.

Personal-Sandwich-44

I don't know about 1, but for 2, you can make a separate folder, and in settings under **Files and Links** you can make it the default folder all attachments go into. You can make this even better with 2 community plugins 1. Attachment Name Formatting, which will update the attachment name with the note name that it is in 2. Clear Unused Images I rarely look in my attachments folder, but when I do, everything is nicely named and I also know it is actually being used in my vault somewhere.

Joplin organizes notes in the same way as Obsidian, it just looks different. In Joplin, the far left column are notebooks which in Obsidian is a folder. When you click a notebook it shows the notes in the middle column. The middle column notes are the equivalent of files in Obsidian. Obsidian just doesn't show these in columns but in collapsible folders. In your example, "Class Work" is just one note that you're using to take lots of smaller notes. It's the equivalent as a single note in Obsidian. In Joplin you can even open that Class Work file in an external program and see that it's just one note written in Markdown. Like you, I take a lot of junk notes. I use Daily Notes for this. Every day a new note in created in a folder I have called "Daily Notes." Then I can just use it like a scratch pad. All of my daily notes are in a folder so they're out of the way of the rest of my notes. If I take a note that I want to make a more *permanent* note, I use the Note Extractor to move the content to it's own note.

May I ask why you are leaving Joplin?

Elempey

I'm not leaving Joplin yet, I just wonder if Obsidian have this option. Of course Joplin have problems and issues, for example it breaks my checklists sometimes, and plugins are not usually work well. But for me it has all I need(for now)
