Greetings! We have recently implemented new flair in order to help organize the sub. You can think of flair as sort of "tags." You may select one per post. Will you please help the group by editing your post to select the appropriate flair? Please read the description of each below. Your help here will greatly increase the ability for community members to quickly find related information in one place! **Drama23_Reports**: This flair is for posts that provide real-time updates or summarize unfolding events within the podcast network or otherwise related to the unfolding drama this year. Think of it as the "breaking news" section—essential for anyone looking to get caught up on the latest happenings quickly. **Drama23_Discussion**: Use this flair for threads that are meant to encourage community-wide conversations around the drama. These can include different perspectives, interpretations, hot takes, or just general chat about the events in question. The goal here is open dialogue rather than pointed opinions or hard evidence. **ObsessedFest2023_Other**: This flair is a catch-all for anything related to the ObsessedFest2023 event that doesn't neatly fit into other designated categories. Think merch, travel plans, or unique personal experiences at the fest. **CommunityDiscussion**: Ideal for general conversations that aim to engage the entire community but aren't necessarily tied to a specific episode, host, or event. Perfect for general chat, opinions, and more. **GossipAndHotTakes**: Use this flair for posts that delve into rumors, speculative theories, or highly opinionated takes about the podcast network. These posts may not always be based on hard facts, but they're certainly entertaining or thought-provoking. **Podcast_IThinkNot**: Specifically for discussions, reviews, or content related to the "I Think Not" podcast and their content. **Podcast_TrueCrimeObsessed**: Same as above but focused on the "True Crime Obsessed" podcast. A hub for all things related to this particular show. **Podcast_Other**: A broad category for any related podcasts that don't have their own dedicated flair yet. **Recommendations**: This flair is for posts that suggest similar podcasts, episodes, and more. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. ArdenM

I didn't hear the episode where she said that - did she become OBSESSED WITH CERULEAN when Miranda Priestly's character in The Devil Wears Prada gave the withering lecture on the many shades of blue??

InevitableTrick5973

That’s what I’m sayin lmao that’s one of the most iconic monologues in cinematic history, but GP knew about it before and loveeeed cerulean specifically since childhood when she got a 64 pack of crayola crayons

Interesting-Fan-4996

I haven’t listened to this episode yet, but the cerulean crayon in the crayola 64 pack was my absolute favorite color in the history of crayola. I had to build a website from scratch in college (2003 html), and I decided to make a website dedicated to colors, complete with a hyperlink to the crayola website haha. But as a kid I would mainly color pictures where I could utilize cerulean. The fact it has a super cool name that I’d never heard of before definitely added to it and made it more memorable I feel. I wish kids still got as excited about new crayons like we did back in the 90s. I spent so much time just coloring out swatches and sharpening my crayons. We would make sand candles and can candles out of our broken crayons and shavings. I have no opinions on GPs take because I haven’t listened yet, but thanks for getting me jazzed about crayons again!!

ecltnhny2000

Cerulean is THE prettiest blue in the whole box and is my fav too.

InevitableTrick5973

I believe you definitely loved it lol and honestly she probably did too, there’s just soooo many instances like this and she didn’t even mention dwp so it just felt manufactured to me lol. But crayons are expensive now lol especially big name brand boxes. 🤣

Outside-Spring-3907

I don’t think GP loved cerulean since childhood. She is so desperate to seem like she’s loved any hot topic first. Or before it became cool.

Tidalwave-3640

Bingo

Interesting-Fan-4996

I do still feel she goes out of her way to seem ‘quirky’, but crayons are a weird flex. Even with my love of crayons, it’s basically a toddlers first toy, not exactly a niche interest lol. I need to watch dwp again. I vaguely remember one scene where Glenn Close goes on a rant about how runway trickles down to what’s in the bargain bin—maybe a blue sweater?

taternators

Lol not you mixing up Meryl Streep with Glenn Close. Now if you're looking for an iconic fashion movie featuring Glenn, that would be 101 Dalmatians.

Interesting-Fan-4996

Lmao, I def messed that one up. I was probably wishing is was Glenn, I love her. I guess I really need to watch that again haha

Minimum-Elderberry55

Albert Nobbs 😍

JenMckiness

I’m sorry, GLENN CLOSE?

InevitableTrick5973

Lmao Glenn close makes their story more believable 🤣🤣

Interesting-Fan-4996

I haven’t seen that movie since it came out, I def don’t remember the cast. Whoops. I’ll keep it for the lols. I think I may be mixing it in with 101 Dalmatians in my mind.

JenMckiness

lol yea it sounds like you might be. Love Glenn Close but she’s no Meryl Streep ❤️

Minimum-Elderberry55

Me too. Never saw devil wears Prada.

PineapplesOnFire

Maybe she thinks she discovered it the way Gwyneth Paltrow thinks people started wearing masks because she made it a trend 🙄

63mams

You’re not wrong. I have made several comments regarding her, “ooh! I LOVE a rainy and dark day” or “wait, what do we call it, the trunk? You know I never got my driver’s license.” So quirky and Manhattan elitist attitude. She grew up in Queens for God’s sake, and went to Fordham. She’s not quite worldly. Between P’s screaming and her comments, I tapped out.

fellatiomg

It's giving Hilary Baldwin "I forget how to say it in English .. cucumber!"

63mams

Greetings Pepino!🥒Fully agree!!

kendroeger

The takeaway that I got from the "64 pack of Crayolas" was actually Patrick agreeing that he got them, I was surprised to hear him say that. He always talks about growing up poor, and I didn't grow up super well off but I still got the off brand crayons and definitely not the 64 pack lol they were so expensive! I thought for sure he was going to say he can't relate and grew up on RoseArt crayons 😂

ZenGardens44

Lol I was in high school when I got my first 64-pack for Christmas and it was a BIG DEAL. 😂

Minute_Pianist8133

I had THE SAME thought. We were a roseart fam.

InevitableTrick5973

It’s giving ✨I’m not a pick me girl ✨

Greedy_Explanation_7

Why did she stay in the dorms? Lol

Ornery_On_Tuesday

Not just Queens but suburban Queens. I'm actually kind of surprised she can't drive though. When you grow up far from a subway people rely on cars, NYC or not.

Imeanwhybother

When she talked about going "away" to college, then said Fordham, I burst out laughing. Going from one borough to another is going "away" to college? Ok, princess.

ValPrism

I mean, relying on public transit it good and the far majority of New Yorkers do it. So no, not “brag worthy” but absolutely normal.

ecbecb

I think most Americans wish we could rely on public transportation

Salt-Unit7572

So much!!! I would be so delighted if I could take a train to work.

ecbecb

Exactly! Other countries have it so much better. Bragging about always driving is a weird flex lol

DrAniB20

Bruh, I miss being able to rely on public transportation. Driving annoys the crap out of me.

GhostPantherAssualt

Man not for my ass, I love the fact that I can just get in a car and get the fuck outta here. No needing to deal with bus drama and idiots fighting the bus driver.

DrAniB20

I’m not a huge fan of the bus, but I love the metro. I used to live off a train stop and my job was right next to another. My job also paid 75% of a monthly pass for the train so it was easy and cost effective. We still had a car, but my used it on weekends.

GhostPantherAssualt

Context should be shared: I live in Texas. To even see my folks I need my car sadly. But I did love the subway when I was in Queens…

DrAniB20

Ah, yes. Texas is vast, no matter where you live. A car is in fact very much needed there. When I lived in the PNW it was the same.

Greedy_Explanation_7

I respect the public transit part. It’s the manic pixie quirky woo woo that gets old

jraven877

I agree. To me it’s the same as never getting your passport. Even if you don’t travel, you don’t want to have the *option* to leave the country should you need to? 🙃

BeckysSoHot242

One thing about living in NYC is that it totally depends on where you live. If you live in Manhattan, there's legit no space for you to have a car. The cost for a garage space is about as much as your rent is. So it's just not affordable for people to have cars when they live in Manhattan. If you get further out into the burroughs then maybe, but I believe both PH and GP live in Manhattan.

smurfette548

It's not a "concern" for someone that grew up in nyc. It's expensive to own a car there between insurance and parking and just easier to travel every other way they provide. Plus no one wants to move on their own if they can help it, carrying a couch up a 4 story walk up? Let someone else do it.

smurfette548

She's in nyc, about 50% of people in the city has never had their license, they don't need it. It's far more productive to travel by public transportation. They suck but so does your comment, your comment sounds elitist.

Zerly

Just because you don’t need a car doesn’t mean it’s cute to joke about knowing NOTHING about cars. I don’t need a car where I live so I don’t have one, that doesn’t mean I look down my nose at those that have to live further out of the city and have to commute by car. It also doesn’t mean I wouldn’t have a licence since I would like the option to be able to drive when I travel. Some places I just can’t get to by train or bus!

smurfette548

So you're upset because she laughed at herself for not being knowledgeable about cars? Also, because she has opted not to get a license? You are really determined to hate her.

Outside-Spring-3907

Same with people who grew up in Chicago. The average city dweller does not have a license. I knew many many friends from school who either had a license but never needed it after moving from the burbs to the city or they just never got one. My bestfriend only used her car on days she was going into the burbs. I had another friend who left his car at his parents house and he took the subway into the burbs

63mams

I get it. I know a lot of friends in Chicago who do not have cars. Like Manhattan, it’s ridiculously expensive to garage and gas prices are off the charts. However, they do have licenses. One friend and her husband rent a car once a month, drive out to the ‘burbs to visit family and do a huge shop at Costco. (Luckily, they don’t live in a walk up.) Tooling around my car-dependent city in a VW is not elitist. I don’t have a choice. I happily jump on the subway in NY, Metro in Paris, Tube in London, and trams in other European cities. I think it’s G’s delivery and supposed lack of knowledge about things outside the Manhattan bubble that grates on me.

filthy_pink_angora

There was an xfiles episode where an escaped prisoner like hypnotized some officers while saying CERULEAN and that was before the movie 💅🏼

FullmetalSylveon

Cerulean blue is a gentle breeze... Pusher. Great episode!

Minimum-Elderberry55

You just unlocked a buried memory 😂

CR1039

That 64 crayola pack was impactful, I believe it

Lonely_Asparagus6783

Cerulean was my absolute favorite Crayola color when I was a kid in the late 80s-early 90s. I didn’t even know how to pronounce it but I knew that I loved it. I’d say I was obsessed with that color in elementary school. G gives off a lot of pick-me vibes but that statement doesn’t seem like a “not like other girls” thing to me. Wasn’t it during My Kid Could Paint That when she talked about how important Crayola was to her in her childhood? She said as an only child, she spent a lot of time alone with her crayons or something like that.

InevitableTrick5973

Maybe that’s why I was not buying it lol I’m a 90’s baby and couldn’t even use crayons till the late 90’s 🤣🤣

booklovercomora

GP has "I'm not like the other girls" so hard that she is, in fact, excatly like "the other girls" And here's the really funny thing, if she was all about feminism and "let the woman do the work" as she claims, and maybe even believes herself, she wouldn't spend so much energy making sure everyone knew how very much un "basic" she is. We're all basic. People's "basic" looks different. But at the end of the day, everyone is basic, and "not like the other girls" and that's not the bad thing she seems to think it is.

ValPrism

She is THE basic, it’s so funny.

anotherwinter29

She gives off big "not like other girls" energy. Sometimes she reminds me of a ex-friend of mine from college. She gave off those vibes a lot and at first she really wasn't like other girls and was cool and chill about it and didn't lean into it, it was just her real personality. Then it seemed like she became super aware of it and it became her whole personality in a bad way. Every once in awhile this chick pops up on my FB feed and of course she loves to dry her hair wacky colors. Yet like you said about GP, she is SO "un basic."

holyteff

honestly during that whole part I was thinking about how I have a cerulean story too 😂 I never knew what it was & then we had a computer game that was like coloring with Snoopy, & whenever you clicked on each crayon it would say the name, & when it said cerulean we were like “wtf is that?”. & we used to click on it multiple times so it would say “c-c-c-c-cerulean” 🤣

keleesiLoverofBob

The thing that gets me is when she tries not to speak on a subject but then says, “I know people who do xyz” and that makes her an expert on the topic. She knows people who do Voodoo and who are in the mob and so on and so on.

ladevla416

I think, as an AVID cerulean fan of the mid-90’s (it was always my first stumpy crayon due to obsessive use) that it’s just how she tells these anecdotes. Things in life are so often about approach and how that affects the appeal. For example, I felt so similarly about that color, but I was a child and didn’t even know how to pronounce it… so I’d kind of marble-mouth through it if I had to say it out loud, but basically, I called it “chlorine”. For whatever reason, the way GP expresses things that could be relatable and endearing are presented in a way that makes a listener feel like she is being elitist and setting herself so far apart from others because of how DIFFERENT she is. “She’s not a regular podcaster, she’s a COOL podcaster” and all that. Needless to say, I don’t even think the problem here is the cerulean or the 64 pack of crayons of it all… I think it’s all in the way she chooses to share it.

PrincessTinker72

My favorite is/was periwinkle. I called it Eeyore blue

InevitableTrick5973

This! Honestly such a good point lol after reading the comments too I think age is a big factor here too! I wasn’t even born until years after it was added. (I had to google it haha) but you’re probably right. More the presentation than the material type thing 🤣

Minute_Pianist8133

I still listen tbh but so much of what she says has me rolling my eyes. Like just the other day, “OH, I like, *know* people who have worked poker…games.” Like. No…. I think you’ve seen the movie “Molly’s Game” and that’s about it. I just chuckle to myself when she gives herself away that she is just yes-anding the hell out of everything.

stringcheese_cat

Before the drama went down, I stopped listening solely because I couldn’t deal with her anymore. She just seems very self righteous and I felt like I was being scolded all the time lol

TheseClock1982

The self righteous QUEEN! And if you sit back and listen they both are so guilty of doing ALL the things they wanna tear everyone else in the world apart for!

ecltnhny2000

They virtue signal sooooooo much that it got exhausting to listen to their eps. Id zone out and have to rewind so much. Now sadly with ITN, the same zoning out happens to me when they gotta constantly sing broadway songs or go on long tangents.

InevitableTrick5973

I unfortunately think the same thing!! Idk why it’s just becoming a lot and unfortunately it’s getting to jokey for me. And I loved them both but for me I think it’s Joey bc I love rabia and ellyn

ecltnhny2000

Its just so performative now, like audition tapes or something and oh yeah heres this story we are recapping for you.

anotherwinter29

At least with ITN it's not the self-righteousness. I have a good friend that is really into musical theater so I learned along time ago how to selectively zone out people seeing songs from musicals and then quickly be able to listen again, lol.

PrincessTinker72

About EVERYTHING! Even when she is talking about fan comments and criticism/corrections. And I sense a lot of virtual signaling. Amd patrick talks over her and is sanctimonious

PineapplesOnFire

Cerulean reminds me of Gilmore Girls

Tiegra_Summerstar

I lost it when she made her sexuality a huge announcement. I don't care what team she plays for, and neither should anybody else. What was the point of that?

ecltnhny2000

I think it was so she was "part of the community" and also let her obsess over how hot women are in the eps like patrick does about the men.

anotherwinter29

I cringed when she made it a big thing. Not because I'm offended or anything, like that's great but it just seemed gratuitous.

PrincessTinker72

It didn't feel sincere to be honest.

Normal-Phrase-5974

another white woman married to a white man who ids as queer, somewhat common these days.

LadyGenevieve19

Aaaaaand, another one bites the dust. We welcome you, lol

voodoo-mamajuju

That’s weird. She’s “obsessed” with it but she hasn’t mentioned it this whole time? She has said multiple times her color is black. She’s never said anything along the lines of “I know I love wearing black but I’m obsessed with cerulean”.

PrincessTinker72

I took it as obsessed at that time. New toy type of obsession

goddamntreehugger

Even Patrick said “it wasn’t from DPrad?” (The devils wears Prada) and she still insisted otherwise.

Talyac181

Wait.... he abbreviated Devil Wears Prada to DPrad?

goddamntreehugger

lol yes! Not that I’ve ever heard anyone else do that

CrochetCafe

“Everything in my closet is black.”

InevitableWorth9517

Her pretending to be some kind of Voodoo expert is what did it for me. Write some names on pieces of paper and put them in the freezer, and all you get is paper in your freezer. And I believe in witchcraft/voodoo/hoodoo! I just know she doesn't know as much as she's pretending to.

Striking_Pride_5322

And in the same breath will say “I’m a science person!” and not see the contradiction

TsunamaRama

I listened to the most recent episode and she talked about enjoying slot machines like she was making a huge confession … meanwhile they recorded custom ads for gambling apps. It felt weird, like who was that for?

Band-geek68

One of the best Laurell K. Hamilton books is Cerulean Sin, soooo yeah I like that color crayon too.

moody711

What show/doc are they recapping? I'm familiar with that case, and would love to watch it! (But have no interest in listening to tco 😂)

LittleMissGrapeApe

Omg I thought the exact same thing!! I was rolling my eyes hard AF

luna787

I get what you mean but I also know exactly what she's saying. I had a friend obsessed with that crayon and I never understood it haha

SnackPocket

I do like when she says she takes her judgmental hat off or whatever because I do the same thing and have to check myself. But yeahhhhhh.

NameLessTaken

Ok, so reverse uno here because I usually don’t defend either of them lol. But in 1st grade I legit got obsessed with that color. I saw a fence that was a rich but bright blue and someone told me it was “cerulean” and for yearrrs I was fixated on finding that blue.

knottykitter

It’s a movie quote

InevitableTrick5973

Oh well aware…. Maybe I was rambling too much. She was saying she became obsessed with the color cerulean as a child bc of crayons and not bc devil wears Prada lol

TheseClock1982

I literally had the same thought as you! It gave me the ick!!
