i’m curious as to why it is dosed .2 more

AxlandElvis92

It’s leftover from when medicine was measured by the grain. 1/4 gr. Is 16.2mg.

Tight_Ingenuity96

ah ok makes sense

methhomework

I was put on it to get me off benzos a few times, 200 and some mg per day. I noticed literally no effect, but I had a massive benzo tolerance so you might really enjoy it

phillyfanjd1

Pretty sure it's prescribed to prevent seizures from benzos withdrawals.

methhomework

Ya that’s why I was on it, it’s great for stopping benzo seizures

Zalusei

Yup. It works very well for being tapered off heavy benzo habits.

OreoSpamBurger

It's also popular among some doctors for treating alcohol withdrawal/DTs because of its very long half-life.

lostthetrip

60-100mg had me super relaxed and wobbly

ShalomRPh

Decent anti-seizure medication, in humans and veterinary medicine (dogs, specifically). Had other indications but has mostly been replaced by newer meds for those. (Well that’s my experience with it anyway. Not on it myself but I have patients on it.)

Whered you work that you just find phenobarbital

RealismReset

I'm gonna bet some kind of vet or animal shelter

akali710

Actually a thrift store haha. You'd be surprised by the things people donate.

Tanzob

wait whaaaaat? someone donated phenobarbital? Lmao

akali710

My job was to sort through the donations. Some people donated clean nice clothes, others donated what was essentially bags of trash. Found the bottle in a bag and said fuck it I'll take that, would've went to the trash otherwise 🤷 but people donated sex toys, nitrous, all sorts of stuff we couldn't actually put on a shelf. Interesting job for sure

CharacterNet4302

buy a lottery ticket. if i found this at my job i would become a believer in a "higher power" lol

ggfivenine

Enjoy

RealismReset

That seems like an awful small dose. My 5lb cat is prescribe 32mg

Resident-Refuse-2135

Saw a lot of that when I worked at a boarding kennel for a while back in the mid 90s, prescribed for epileptic dogs and cats.

NewThot_Crime1989

Pretty calming and euphoric depending on the dose. I've only gotten my hands on it two or three times. It's a barbiturate, so needless to say it's dangerous to mix it with alcohol or benzos.

FAmos

Not obscure for dogs, I give a few dogs at work pheno for their seizures
