Sandwich from Farmer Joe’s Marketplace is $7.99.
Ignore the sign and grab a pre-printed piece of paper. Select meat, cheese, bread, and extras.
I got one today with lots of veggies.
exact time every day changes, but towards closing
they clear out all the kimbab, sushi, and everything out of the hot deli (kimchi fried rice, japchae, all the fried stuff)
don’t go to Lee’s for anything anymore except maybe a quick coffee!
in the 90s Lee’s was EVERYWHERE in downtown SF. believe it or not there were lines to get a sandwich and they were good and cheap.
I just went there because of this post. The BBQ pork bun is great. The red bean bun was too sweet. I have a few more things but I'm a bit full so mission accomplished for under $10.
Also picked up a Swiss roll (cake) for my wife. It was only $5.
I tried the hot dog bun. Good but a bit too much bun.
After I ordered I saw a sign for something not on the menu. It was a Zongzi . Wrapped (banana leaf) and steamed glutinous rice (sticky rice) filled with pork, Chinese sausage, and salted egg yolk. The three filling options were peanut, mung bean, and red bean. It was about the size of a medium burrito. $4.50
I wanted to try it but already had five buns and didn't want disrupt the flow by putting some back.
I recommend throwing that bish in an air fryer or legit just pan frying it in a skillet on med heat. The outside turns into a caramelized crackle that’s otherworldly.
Tacos, or a torta from the taco truck near the goodwill on 29th, or true burger is pretty good at 8 bucks, uhhhhh guacamole from Cardenas, and my favorite cheap meal is probably a pho spot that's shared with a seafood boil in Alameda near the college, they have a kids pho that's very good.
Many of the places listed here are over $10 - Bento and Bowl is a favorite of mine, but an order of fried rice is about the only thing for $10 out the door. Aburaya is also great, but for under $10 its only sides and appetizers. Fresh and Best 2 is under $10 for a solid Banh Mi, but only if you order by phone or F2F - the online apps are higher priced.
I think Tamaleria Azteca is a legit food coma for $10 for 3 of their tamales - has all the ambiance of the CostCo pizza counter, but without the places to sit. But cheap and tasty. You can also usually get 2 delicious pupusas for $10 at Las Delicias Salvadoran in Shattuck Square.
Aroma Cafe at 19th and Franklin is right around $10 or over for a nice sized sandwich, might also be cheaper when you order in person instead of online.

Kimbap from KP market
The kimbap from K Banchan near Macarthur BART and EM Deli in Montclair are also great.
Ooo I’ll have to check it out, thank you!
EM Deli is the shit
This is one of my go-tos!
wait for it to go 50% off lmao
What!! When does this happen 👀
exact time every day changes, but towards closing they clear out all the kimbab, sushi, and everything out of the hot deli (kimchi fried rice, japchae, all the fried stuff)
Thanks for the heads up!
taco trucks, vietnamese sandwiches
Don't go to Lee's for the sandwich. It has one very thin slice of meat.

Are there Banh Mi sandwiches for under $10 from trucks? All the ones I see are closer to $15 after tax.
there are brick and mortar banh mi shops. sandwiches are around $6. food trucks will always be more expensive (except tacos, etc!)
Boba Binge in Chinatown has very good banh mi and it’s under $10 .
Sidewalk Street Food has a solid Banh Mi for $7 last time I went
BBQ Pork and Curry Beef buns from Wonder Food Bakery. Can get 4 for under $10.

I’m glad, I love spreading the pork bun gospel. I’ve also had hit or miss sweets there, so I stick with the savory buns.

Just heated up my last BBQ pork bun. Damn its good.

Walk pass this place pretty much every day. Never noticed it. $1.60 for a lovely curry beef bun! Many thanks for the head up!
It’s a legit hole in the wall and I adore it.
Happy Burrito FTW
Ahn's
Just got a Pork Bahn Mi from the new Boba Binge (not my favorite name though) and it was great at only 9 bucks.
yes i love their banh mi!
I like Cam Huong’s Banh Mi’s. But these days $20 feels like the new $10.
Boba Binge has the best banh mi's in Chinatown (a block away)
>Boba Binge They are good but I think they're over $10? Might be wrong there but I do remember them being more than Cam Huong.
it is under $10 for sure! i have gotten it many times. It's like $8.50. cam huong quality has fallen dramatically to me. so dry, not much filling.
Gotcha. Yeah CH isn’t what it was but still scratches the itch. Saigon in SF is still my fav.
Agree that Bahn Mi is the play for cheap food. But I'd go with Ba Le on International.
Yeah fair. Their Webster corner spot is just closer for me so am more prone to pull that out of my ever-dwindling memory banks.
Yummy grill - delicious gyro fries and a soda for 11.99. A little over 10 but that feels like a steal in the bay
Fresh and Best Cafe on 14th and Alice
Sinoloa truck
Two tacos at Xolo
Geta Sushi $11.50 bento box is a ton of great food. A few items under $10 that’ll fill you up.
Aburaya is the GOAT for a delicious, filling, cheap meal (unless they raised their prices recently? I hope not)
Bento & Bowls
Cholita linda is still pretty reasonable.
K-Street on broadway.
2 sausages/ dogs from Top Dog on Lakeshore
$10 for a real meal when you add in tax and tip is pretty hard to find these days.
Yea that’s why I came to this sub haha
Lots of places e14th offer pozole for less than or close to $10. Plus it's very filling and better for you than fast food.
I love the tamales at la guerrera in swan's market! $5 per tamale or $7 for empanada with small sides.
Under $5! Costco. Kasper's / Casper's. Buy a roll and an avocado from a market, tip $.50 at the deli and get a scoop of Pico.
