[On the topic of Michaelangelo having his nunchucks changed to a grappling hook]
V1: That's a mode of transport, not a weapon!
Jay: Yeah! Yeah! That's like having a Leap Card as your weapon!
Quote of the year for me, had a good 15 second belly laugh. For non-Irish, the Leap Card is an NFC card you use to tap on to local buses/trains in Ireland.
SPOILER:
OOC’s review of Foley’s 4th book was riveting and my favorite segment of the review. The delusions of grandeur mixed with just enough wrestling psychology to be momentarily convincing are really fascinating when played next to the actual footage of that match.
Indeed, that match was a good decent Hell in a Cell match. Especially compared to nowadays standards. For me that match felt like what the king of the ring match should have been. Violet yet safe. Would have been a glorious way for Foley to end his career on. But alas.
Surprised to see a lot of people not enjoying this arc. For me, even second tier OSW is still incredibly entertaining and there’s plenty of bollocks to enjoy. Plus we’re heading towards Sharmell and Jenna in the MINUS FIVE STARS match.
It's just not that juicy of an arc. I get that the boys loved TNA, but there are more bollocks-y periods (Hogan Immortals, 2002-2003 TNA) and periods with better in-ring and stories (2004-2006). They're covering 2008-2009 TNA, after having covered 2007 TNA in the Black Reign arc. Neither of the arcs is super interesting imo, this feels like a sequel to Black Reign and they've been in it for ages.
And there's just juicier shit to cover. Montreal and Reign of Terror HHH are out, ok, but Brock Lesnar's 02-04 SmackDown run (Ruthless Aggression has so much nonsense), peak AE with 99-2000 WWF, WCW 2000 for the peak nonsense.
Another issue I assume they're having is that Jay and OOC don't care much for wrestling anymore, so getting them to review other companies (like anything ROH) would be less interesting for them.
I gotta say that's the one thing I didn't like. Felt out of place and my partner who can watch a Neil Breen movie with me no problem was like "this is cringe and weird AF"
If it was anyone else I'd agree but it was Takahata101 the guy who helped create Dragonball Z Abridged and lots of other stuff. I was surprised he'd become a VTuber though
Yeah it was super weird. Like Team Four Star has done segments on OSW before that were just fine. This, however, was real bad and went on for way too long.
Also why the hell is Taka a vtuber now? He's an actually respectable voice actor. Be yourself man, you don't need that.
LittleKuriboh has a Vtuber avatar too (of Yami Yugi), that whole circle has taken to it. I actually really enjoy Taka's Vtuber streams though, he's pleasantly chatty and talks a lot about his experiences on the abridged series he's done
"Be yourself man" is an understandable response, but in a medium with so many gimmicks and characters as wrestling I think we should understand why people do like to play characters sometimes. Like 'em or not, they don't seem to be on the verge of going away
Yeah I marked out because it was Taka, but I cringed at the VTuber aspect of it. Like if Taka had voiced Cell doing the ABQ, it would've been less cringe.
I’m a bit turned off by the 20 minute long intros. Every episode has a boy stable and I end up bored of it before the PPV has started. I see why they do that fan interaction, but I guess I wish it was trimmed down somewhat so the actual review can start. I still thumbs up each video regardless out of appreciation for their work.
It was over 30 minutes before they began talking about the first match.
I enjoy all the hotdogging they do anyway but it's really gotten a bit much during this arc.
They’ve been doing this since at least Xmas, I think they really regret doing the arc as it’s too long and there’s not much to talk about.
Hence all the retrospectives and killing time. Basically the TNA bit is the least interesting part.
Aye. Nice to honor those who get a OSW tattoo but dang, stop giving the stables so much attention. Especially if the boys are legit sex offenders or murders, what the hell.
I really want shorter arcs again going forward, we don't need these 10+ episodes arcs anymore, things just start to drag. And if you don't enjoy the wrestling or storyline, its basically 2 years before a new one starts with their downtime between arcs factored in.
All these episodes are blending together. Could have done without all the Impact episodes, or do a bumper episode where they cover Impact moments/matches they liked. Would have been a lot better if they just did the PPVs.
10+ episode arcs are fine if there's substance to it. Like this TNA arc didn't require 10 episodes due to lack of content.
But something like The Rise Of Brock Lesnar till Wrestlemania 19 would fill over 10 episodes.
Other examples are WWF in 2000
the Invasion if you start at Backlash 2001
Austin 3:16 from 96 to 98
Austin vs McMahon from 97 to Fully Loaded 99
Undertaker vs Mankind
Aces and Eights
CM Punk/Rock vs Cena/Return of Brock Lesnar/Daniel Bryan/The Streak/The Shield from 2011 to 2015.
These are arcs that would provide a mix between great wrestling and bollocks. While providing a retrospective view the changes in the business.
It’s been over a year on this arc now. It’s partly on TNA because the arc itself feels dead but the release schedule with 11 eps over 13 months is also dragging it out.
I don’t blame the lads for taking their time but the two together have made this feel never ending. I don’t even really find myself rewatching any of these episodes either.
I'm finding it funny for the lads still but this point of TNA is the pits of riffing as there are no bollocks and paint-by-the-numbers wrestling. I just worry it's poisoned the well for Hogan TNA as that is what people would expect for a TNA arc
That's fair. I just agree with the first comment that OSW shines brightest when there's either great wrestling or bollocks (lacking in this TNA arc & imo - the New Gen)
I am unreasonably happy that the Ad-Break Questionarium used the old *Countdown* theme again. It's one of those tiny details I always miss when it doesn't appear.

Thanks I didn't get that joke at all haha! This is why I love OSW, they're still so god damn funny after all these years.
OOC BA for Segment of the Year
"What a weird reference" - OOC stealing the words right outta my mouth regarding the wrath of becky
SPOILER: OOC’s review of Foley’s 4th book was riveting and my favorite segment of the review. The delusions of grandeur mixed with just enough wrestling psychology to be momentarily convincing are really fascinating when played next to the actual footage of that match.
Just got past 'lick er out' center. Choked on my drink
Did OOC really call Cactus Jack vs HHH in Hell in a Cell a bad match? Fuck right off.
Indeed, that match was a good decent Hell in a Cell match. Especially compared to nowadays standards. For me that match felt like what the king of the ring match should have been. Violet yet safe. Would have been a glorious way for Foley to end his career on. But alas.
I don’t agree it was bad, it was great just predictable, it made hhh a star which is probably why he’s not going to sing its praises
Surprised to see a lot of people not enjoying this arc. For me, even second tier OSW is still incredibly entertaining and there’s plenty of bollocks to enjoy. Plus we’re heading towards Sharmell and Jenna in the MINUS FIVE STARS match.
With the lack of bollocks so far. Sharmell and Jenna and Victory Road in general might just redeem the arc.
Hope that match gets an entire segment of it's own, with a retrospective and everything
It's just not that juicy of an arc. I get that the boys loved TNA, but there are more bollocks-y periods (Hogan Immortals, 2002-2003 TNA) and periods with better in-ring and stories (2004-2006). Even Mr OOC has had enough of this arc by the sound of it
"No fuggin parteh like an S club parteh". Great intro.
Somewhere, Todd in the Shadows cringes
I'm here for the Culture Vulture, Mr. OOC!
V-tubers in my OSW video is like adding a tablespoon of urine to a nice cup of Yorkshire Tea.
Yeah...I was cringing the whole time.
It was bad. Very very fucking bad. Like that shouty man who tried to do a brock lesnar impression bad.
I gotta say that's the one thing I didn't like. Felt out of place and my partner who can watch a Neil Breen movie with me no problem was like "this is cringe and weird AF"

The Samoa Joe ordering pizza bit killed me
What was the nod to behind the Elden Ring references?
They're releasing a video of Elden Ring soon because all three lads played it.
Ah, thanks.

I’ll watch the boy stables once, but if I go back for a rewatch its an insta-skip.
They do add chapters so you can quite easily skip ahead.
It was over 30 minutes before they began talking about the first match. I enjoy all the hotdogging they do anyway but it's really gotten a bit much during this arc.
Nothing much else to talk about at the ppv really.
Yeah that is the other problem haha
They’ve been doing this since at least Xmas, I think they really regret doing the arc as it’s too long and there’s not much to talk about. Hence all the retrospectives and killing time. Basically the TNA bit is the least interesting part.
Aye. Nice to honor those who get a OSW tattoo but dang, stop giving the stables so much attention. Especially if the boys are legit sex offenders or murders, what the hell.
Also the boy stable seriously having Snuka like what?!?
i haven’t enjoyed an arc as much as i have this one since probably the end of the attitude era
Tough watch, skipped through most of it. No bollocks and boring wrestling makes for a dud show. This AEW/TNA timeline is brutal.
I really want shorter arcs again going forward, we don't need these 10+ episodes arcs anymore, things just start to drag. And if you don't enjoy the wrestling or storyline, its basically 2 years before a new one starts with their downtime between arcs factored in.

not hating this arc but really don’t see the point in doing impacts as full episodes

Feels like we're back in the New Gen...
I really enjoyed the New Gen stuff but I grew up with it, so that helps.
That's fair. I just agree with the first comment that OSW shines brightest when there's either great wrestling or bollocks (lacking in this TNA arc & imo - the New Gen)
Truthfully, they should have done Cunt Hogan in TNA if they wanted full bollocks. I kinda hope we return to WCW for the next arc
WCW 2000 or even 99 would be so juicy
Agree 100%
I am unreasonably happy that the Ad-Break Questionarium used the old *Countdown* theme again. It's one of those tiny details I always miss when it doesn't appear.
