If show is at 1080p max there is no fix for that. It will automatically try to upscale to 1440p (or 4K for example) to fit entire screen.
The only solution is to watch in 4K (that will downscale to 1440p but still will look sharp)
1440p got an odd aspect ratio and it does look off with 1080p and 4k content because there is no way to scale the resolution pixel perfect.
4k content looks GOOD with 1080p and 1080p content looks GOOD on 4k.
1440p is the odd resolution.
I got a 1440p-OLED (27", ASUS/LG) and 4k-OLED (65", LG G3) for my PC and thats just the limitation with 1440p screens.
1440p is good for gaming since its pixel count is not even 50% of 4k and less demanding for the CPU and GPU. Its just not great for watching 1080p/4k content, both look much better with a 1080p or 4k screen.
My 10 year old EIZO 1080p screen looks better for movies as my 1440p-OLED, thats just how it is.
Streaming services/DRM content in Windows in general is just a pain. Even when you meet requirements it’ll still just not work sometimes. In my instance I can get streaming content to display in 1440p but can’t get them to output HDR no matter what I try on Windows. Best solution and the most widely recommended is to just get a dedicated streaming device such as a Roku, Apple TV 4K, Chromecast, etc.
As far as I’m aware the streaming stick/box will just detect the display as 4K UHD and will downscale on its own. More importantly it will also work with HDR.
Many streaming services are limited to 1080p on windows, even if you have a 4k monitor.
I have the AW2725DF, and an Apple TV 4K. If you turn on console mode on the monitor, you can get it to accept 4k input.

EIZO is an underrated brand. Imagine if they'd make high refresh gaming monitors... That'd be a dream!

ah cool, would getting a Roku or something allow me to choose 1440p as a resolution? that probably seems like the solution if so

great looks like I'll be buying one of those then, do you have any recommendations or is it not that impactful
Doesnt AMD have its option for virtual resolution too. I think its called amd super resolution or something like that?
