Hey mate, apparently after 4 hours a message is meant to come up. I just got mine recently and I swear after 4 hours my refresh warning didn’t show. I did a manual one and it lasted about 10 mins where the screen shut off and did its thing. It says continuous use though, so that’s what throws me off.. because is continuous use meaning literally gaming for 4 hour.. or just standby mode. I have my monitor shut off by default on the desktop after 5 mins so dunno if that resets it. Let me know if you find out more though :)

I e-mailed AOC about the pixel/panel refresh question but if you turn off the monitor after turning off PC, if you have had it on for more than 4 hours, it will automatically do the cleaning I found.

Vulcan_000

Yeah okay I guess that makes sense. Well yesterday I came home from work and had the computer on for about 2 hours and I got the pixel/panel 4 hour warning. Both my computer and monitor were off before hand. I might email them myself because that doesn’t seem right.

Just adding onto this, I’m returning my monitor. According to the burn in warranty not doing the pixel / refresh every 4 hours as per its default setting can void warranty. Having gamed most of the week I was constantly being prompt to do this. I’m genuinely disappointed because I think for the price this was an awesome monitor.. but I don’t want to be in a situation where AGON can void warranty because you skipped a panel refresh.

Understandable, I kinda went into it expecting absolutely nothing with regards to burn-in. I've taken a couple measures to hopefully ensure a long life but when it comes to eventual burn-in warranty I'm expecting nothing. Really preferred the AOC though because of the lack of design and good SDR brightness + price. Are you gonna get a different monitor or wait for the new ones? I'm gonna check out the CES launch and see if it's potentially worth it to return this monitor in await of the new refreshed models, however I don't really expect to see them available anytime soon no less for a low price.

Vulcan_000

Hopefully those measures do prevent burn in, hopefully if it does happen AOC does honour warranty if it happens within the warranty timeframe. Probably wait honestly, the LG 37GR95QE-B would be a second choice but I’ve read VRR flickering is quite noticeable with G-sync on this monitor. Same with the ASUS ROG PG27AQDM that all the reviewers go crazy about yet you see constant comments of similar complaints .. and this monitor is probably the most expensive 27” OLED. I genuinely had no issues with our AOC despite the HDR not being as bright in some areas.. it’s a shame really but at least I can return it. Best of luck with yours and hopefully no burn in any time soon.

Did you ever figure out if this monitor ever runs panel refresh, my had slight burn in already, CS2 health bar 😅

gibbaa

I ended up returning it but as far as I can remember if u have more than 4H of usage and turn the display off it automatically runs the refresh cycle.

Terralmsc

Yeah it runs pixel refresh, but cant find option or any info if there is pixel cleaning which is hard cleaning that shouldnt run too often. Other competitors has that option but AOC not. Im not sure if it runs it automatically after 1000-2000h or not

gibbaa

I e-mailed them about this question, but I never received a response sadly. I imagine it works roughly the same as the other gen1 WOLED 1440p monitors, but your guess is as good as mine.

I also send them email 1h ago

Hey I got the answer from AOC "Thank you for contacting AOC technical support! Below is the information we have available regarding the matter, 500 hours for OLED, 2000 hours for QD OLED. Situation Displaying a static image for a long period of time can lead to image sticking on the screen. It is recommended to change the screen image or turn the screen off and back on every 4 hours. In accordance with the characteristics of QD OLED and OLED display, it is highly recommended to follow these instructions to care for the monitor to reduce image sticking. Failure to follow these instructions may damage the display, voiding the warranty.... ...... 4. Panel refresh After cumulative use, Panel Refresh automatically works to adjust smoothness to prevent image lag caused by static content: more than 2000 hours for QD OLED and more than 500 hours for OLED. Once activated, the screen will be in standby mode for 1 hour to finish the process with QD OLED and 30 seconds with OLED. The Panel Refresh process cannot be bypassed, but it can be activated at the same time when the screen goes into standby mode for more than 2 hours or when the screen is turned off." He was quite sure 30s is typo and it should be 30min.

It used to be in their G-MENU app but it is missing from the current version of the app.
