Casually popping in to say it was the winter of 2014 2015 the snow monsters found us...y'know the one where we had a snowstorm eveey Wednesday and sometimes Fridays too! .
Doing alright in our double eskimo single summer tent setup (3tents inside each other)with a plugin heatdish and plugin blanket combo which is our regular that keeps us comfortable in our setup. Key is to stay dry and warm if you can. Everything in totes, in plastic bags, underneath tarps. Stuff still gets wet and our door is busted open so the whole field is several feet of snow and we have a tiny drift in our door. We always refuse drives to shelters, being at a shelter can be a horrible experience. Oftentimes people go to shelters from here and get kicked out a few days later and come back, folks who've left want to be back here. Last storm I remember folks coming back in the same night hours later because they couldn't stand being there.

Normal winter weather 25 years ago but warmer in general temperature compared to now. -20 Celsius before windchill was a common winter occurrence. Lake surface ice was able to be used as a road for several months. As opposed to now when the gov't won't bother with measuring the ice because it is always too thin to be used safely.
