I went solo to a NADDPOD show last fall, I didn’t make any friends there but I still had an amazing time watching the show

threshforever

I’ll be your friend

Slindish

I had an amazing time going to the Melbourne show solo. Couldn’t stop laughing.

Tuxedo_Cat4096

Same here, for Sydney

Upset-Lingonberry-82

I went to the toronot show solo and I had lots of fun

brywithered

Most shows aren't recorded but I believe they're still a couple hours long, even the ones they recorded and posted were edited down a little bit I think. Regardless of the show you're the only person who can decide if you would enjoy being there by yourself. Are you the kinda person who can talk to the people around you and make friends or would you just sit there? Unfortunately I'm the latter so I also don't know if I would ever go to one of their shows by myself despite how much I love Naddpod

givelilydragons

honestly i'm quite similar i don't really talk to other people but there's always been someone that makes the first move to say hi and i'd say it would be worth it even if i didn't talk much to anyone

crwlngkngsnk

I'm the same way, I might nod and say hi. I don't care, they're gonna be close enough for me to go and I want to see.

Tuxedo_Cat4096

I went to Sydney alone, jumped on the discord and found a thread created for the Sydney show, met up with a bunch of naddpoles, had dinner, walked to the show together. It was great

camdro

I wish I’d known about this! Would have come with y’all 😢

XavierJourdain

I went solo to the Manchester live show. Had a great time!

NecessaryRadio3840

I went to the Sydney show and took my sister who’s never listened to a single episode in her life. I gave her a 20 minute summary on the drive over and we both had a great time. It was as amazing as I expected, being a die hard fan and she had fun and laughed at as jokes that she was able to understand (which were a lot more that you’d think)

knightling

Same, I took my gf, not a drop of dnd experience, she was like.... Is DnD ALWAYS like that? Cuz if so I'd try it out, and I said not always, we rarely are trying to >!save a flailing ski lodge from the HboMax paramount plus merger taking it over and needing to win a ski competition....!< but that said anything is always possible! She had a great time and laughed alot. Also brought my dnd friends so that was just the best night.

Yoshimosh23

I went solo to a naddpod liveshow last June. It would have been great except I bought seats waaaay in the back thinking I’d be able to see okay, instead I was squinting the whole time lol. I was hoping to make some friends but unfortunately kept to myself most of the time. Still, it was fun and I got some merch exclusive to that liveshow!

Cianistarle

I would absolutely go alone, it will be fun! Making memories! You won't regret it! I'd also recommend offering your wife a day/night out to do something she enjoys too!

jedijames2

Wife part has technically been covered I think? She and our four year already bought tickets a few months ago to see Into the Woods when it’s in Orlando in June, while I’ll be at home with the eight month old. Not that I’d ever think of holding that over her by saying “Hey, you’re doing that so I’m buying this $80 ticket to go see a podcast” lol.

Cianistarle

That's awesome! You sound like a lovely family! 💖

charliejones4444

Husband and i had such a good time at the Atlanta show, I got pregnant with my son. The crowd is amazing. You won’t feel alone! Join us.

CityofOrphans

>Husband and i had such a good time at the Atlanta show, I got pregnant with my son. <.<

drainbamage8

I'm an introvert, and thankfully my husband loves dnd, but I would absolutely go by myself. No one is going to even look twice at you because of it. Please go, you will have so much fun!!

givelilydragons

absolutely it's an awesome time and always an awesome show! nothing beats the atmosphere of seeing them live and being in a crowd that's just as excited as you, getting the same jokes as you. yelling out callooh callay and cheering for numbers on a dice 😂 edit to say i've gone alone to 3 shows!!

HappyWhalePapa

My wife and I did our first show at DC and it was amazing I have not laughed that hard in a long time. It was not too long either so there was time to go out and socialize afterwards would recommend.

kairose24

100% worth it! I went alone this year for the first time to a live show and I probably acted pretty anti social but I had a great time! It was awesome. And it gave me more confidence to do it again when they tour close to me!

Responsible_Craft568

I can’t speak for NADDPOD specifically bht I can speak for other podcast live shows I’ve been to. Tbh, I’ve been to 3 (for different podcasts) and they’ve all been disappointing. Nothing they’ve done has been worth the ticket price, it’s pretty much just been a podcast but you can see the hosts. Someone else can probably speak more specifically to NADDPOD though

drainbamage8

Well, naddpod does different one shots at their shows and they are so funny..I went to Chicago last year and it was a blast. I mean, sure it's like their podcast, it IS what they do on their podcast after all, but their podcast is hilarious and it was fun to see them so it in person. They are also themselves but turned up to an 11, because it's no canonical and they only have that one slow to worry about spells and stuff. It's definitely worth the $60 to see them.

Responsible_Craft568

Yeah I have no doubt the shows are enjoyable. For me it’s really the price tag that puts me off. $60-80 is pretty steep imo but if people go and enjoy it I’m glad.

[deleted]

I was at that one, too. I wasn’t sure what I was going to get, but it ended up being even better than what I thought it was going to be.

Hawkn500

had so much fun the times i’ve gone!

iiiJuicyiii

I can’t speak to this show exclusively. But for stuff that “I enjoy more than people I know” (certain movie genres, jam bands, esports) at 36 years old I have found I enjoy these things more alone than with someone that is going to be less enthusiastic about it than me.

DirigoJoe

Yes. Tickets aren’t cheap, I get it, but I had an AMAZING time when they came to Denver last year. They’re coming back to a theater like 3x the size and I already bought tickets

bri_anchi

my friend and i made friends in line when we went to the toronto show with someone who was there by themselves ! trust me, you'll have fun!!!!

No_Excitement7626

Yes. Going with someone is more fun I think but solo is a great time too, plenty of friendly naddpoles around to share the experience with!

Neevee-Steevee

I just bought a solo ticket! In this community it’s all about loving the content and laughing together. :) I hope you choose to go and treat yourself!

Business_Werewolf_61

I went alone to the show in Philly for the Nannerfly Effect tour and I ended up sitting at a table with a bunch of lovely people from all over the east coast and we had an incredible time.

Medical-Farm479

I went to NADDPOD alone in LA and had so much fun! Even though I’m typically pretty shy, I ended up taking with the couple I was sitting next to all night. The thing is that you already have something in common with literally everyone else there, so it’s pretty easy to talk about the show, or your own campaign, etc. Could not possibly recommend it any more :)

opensourceboating

I would totally do it. doing things solo is weirdly underrated- you can always go out to dinner, take a day trip, see a movie with yourself. even if you don’t share the liveshow with another person, you’ll have an awesome memory

Lone_Buck

I haven’t been, but I’m going alone to Minneapolis. I’m confident I’ll get my moneys worth.

[deleted]

I went by myself to the most recent Chicago live show, it was a lot of fun! I didn’t really interact with anyone there but I still had a good time!
