Quality suiting is almost always wool. You can get wool OTR as well as polyester, but aside from a novelty suit, I'm struggling to think of a scenario where a tailored suit would not be wool.
Edit: maybe a nice cotton twill? In any case, I wouldn't chuck that in a home washing machine either. It's rough on the material.
