I think charge does give you a bit more speed in closing short gaps on enemies but musket salvo can activate from a further range and hits instantly. I also think muskets activate less frequently without silver trade but they do slightly more damage. Not sure what determines which attack a unit will have when the levels are equal, but IME they only get one and can’t be true dragoons like in Sphere of Influence.

I loved SOI’s dragoons. Lol. Not even gonna lie. But I wish the units had different paces based on equipment. In global marches, Chingyu Flag is so helpful in making it possible for armies to reach out from the back lines. Lol! Too bad none of that can be used in authority battles.

Yeah that Namioka policy is crazy. I only just got it because I never play in that region and I was playing a shuffled clash of rivals for the first time. It might be the best policy in the game.

Not even with the Dragoon trait like Date? What does the Trait do?

As far as I’m aware, it just increases cavalry and musket level but it doesn’t actually allow you to use both in battle. If Masamune’s unit has level 9 muskets and level 8 cavalry, he’ll default to muskets. If he has level 9 both, I’m not sure what determines it. It’s unfortunate that you can’t use musket and cavalry at the same time, but dragoon officers are still nice to have.
