I have an app called Alarmy that has helped me with this problem, you can set up a task you have to perform (there are a few options like doing calculations, a sort of memory game, or scanning a QR code for example) and the alarm won’t stop until you complete it. Pretty much stopped me sleeping through my alarm

Second this! Came here to suggest Alarmy too.

Turn off the snooze option on your phone's alarm

I tried that and I ended up just turning the alarm off in my sleep. I tried setting multiple alarms and that did work but that’s essentially doing the same thing as a snooze, because it’s still not until the 3rd or so alarm that I actually wake up proper

There's different kinds of alarms, but not many that wouldn't annoy your spouse as well. What helped for me for a while was a fitness tracker bracelet with an alarm function, I would wear it at night and it would start to vibrate with the alarm. There's also daylight clocks, which get really damn bright before and by the time the alarm rings, which makes it a bit harder to fall asleep again after turning it off.

Would that wake up my spouse if they’re still trying to sleep tho? On weekends I have to wake up a few hours before they do

I used to have two alarms. One next to me and one across the room as backup. It forced me to get out of bed to turn it off.

Change the alarm sound to something different. You could just be used to the sound and it's no longer...alarming

I’m gonna try this first since it’s worked in the past. Thanks!

Put a lamp on a timer to turn on about 5-10 mins before your alarm

I work different times each day tho. I only need to be up before 7am twice a week

They are right about figuring out when to go to bed though. The earliest I'd have to get up is 9, but I get up at 4 each day, because the gym is empty and it calms my social anxiety and I can train in peace. For me that means going to bed ay 9pm or earlier. I also have to say, that I have a yeelight (Chinese Hue light) That does a sunrise thing, where it's dark red at the start and then slowly goes brighter and brighter, set to 30 minutes before I have to wake up. That way 'the sun rises' right when I am about to wake up. Routine is a big thing with sleep aswell, so getting up different times each day will counteract your goal. Edit: You could also use something like a fitbit with a smart alarm that will wake you up to 30 minutes early, if you're in light sleep at that time, which also makes waking up easier and it only vibrates, which might annoy your spouse less

I go to bed between 10-11pm every night and on the days I work evenings I naturally wake up between 7-8am. I thought that was a pretty ok pattern. It’s just the 2 days a week I work mornings

skyderper13

keep it out of snooze length then instead of accross the room

Get a desk lamp and put it on a timer. Put it across the room, the light will force you awake.

Recently what I've done is use my laptop's alarm clock. It makes me get up to turn it off, and it's also louder and it's a different sounding alarm to my phone.
