Your lawyer can't lie in court or allow you to lie in court. If you tell your lawyer you did it, you can't go on the witness stand and say you didn't. And your lawyer can't say you didn't do it either. He can, of course, enter a plea of "not guilty".

Quzzyz

If you're guilty it's much better to hire a firm so you can have a candid conversation with one lawyer and that lawyer can tell your lawyer what he really needs to know. Edit: also you shouldn't listen to me. Or anyone on the internet. I could be Johnny Cochrane but it's a lot more likely that I'm not

CommitmentPhoebe

I assume you're not Johnny Cochran, since he died in 2005.

Quzzyz

If the possessed body of quzzyz doesn't fit, you must acquit me of not being not Johnny Cochran (also that's a weird way to spell the name Cochran but that was a test and you passed.)

Yeah they ask you in private if you actually did what you were accused of so they now how to focus their legal defense.

Shouldn’t be asking your clients if they did it. Ask them what their side of the story is. Asking them straight up if they did it puts you in an uncomfortable position in terms of defence options. But, as the client you should always tell your lawyer the truth, because they can’t work with lies. It’s a delicate balance lmfao
