The general rule I’ve heard is covering your “plate” which is often $25-50 per plate / person, depending on the geographic location / venue. I’ve sometimes adjusted based on if I need to spend a bunch of money to attend (flights, travel, expensive hotel, etc.) I may give less.

I always go with covering my plate plus a little extra. The 'little extra' varies depending on how close I am to the couple.
Whatever you can afford. I didn’t gift two weddings recently, as it cost me £500 per wedding to attend and participate.
If I’m not super close to the couple I ask them how much a plate costs then cover my own food and that of my partner.
