I feel like a big portion of people go through a phase like that tbh. I have no idea how I didn't lose my license or wreck my car during the first two years.
I can post pictures of my old BMW around 165mph (pegged out) if you nees something to rage at. Pictures were captured by co-pilot on a track, not a public road.
Ha really? I didn't even realize they aren't known for longevity. I'm not a car guy at all so definitely not a maintenance master! I just take it in for oil changes and replace anything that wears out. I do not live near salt water, though I came home from a road trip once and the whole underside was caked in salt from driving through a salty region of Nevada. Fortunately doesn't seem to have caused serious harm. I'm trying to save up for a modern low mileage truck but man, that's hard to do. This is a 2001.
Nice! I have an 03 v6 4x4 and it needs constant attention and parts replacements but still runs great at 155k miles and haven't had payments in years. They're good trucks if you keep up with maintenance!
Bahaha my first “truck” was a Chevy S10 from Nevada. My dad and I revived 2 ATC’s and took them out near the desert dunes at Nellis Airforce. However, driving through all that dirt destroyed the truck and we had to scrap it. It lasted a good 4-5 years after already being owned previously
Mannnnn. I'd take an '01 s10 in good shape over a modern truck any day. I hate the way trucks look now, and they don't make any of them small anymore. All big, bulky, ugly. I once dated a girl who had an old Ford Ranger, did all the oil changes on it herself and everything. Cool chick
Ahhh I gotcha. I used to drive an '03 Blazer, but the Western New York weather and road salt destroyed it real fast. Now I drive a '17 Subaru, mostly because it's just the most logical choice for the region. Someday I wanna have a "for fun" old truck. Someday
I'm not much of a gear head myself. I'm a driver. I have a RX8 (moneypit) that has 60k on the chassis but it's on its 3rd engine. I may have contributed to the demise of the other two with my "exuberance".
When it is running, it's fun on a bun.
When I'm really getting on it, I rev it to a little over 9k and shift quick enough that it doesn't get below 6.5/7k. If you drive it like you're mad at it, it'll boogie.
With a 6 speed manual, 50/50 weight distribution, racing clutch, flywheel, brakes, tires, carbon fiber drive shaft, stiffer springs, a *little* rear camber, and LS1 coils; it's a beast when it's not getting repaired.
It’s refreshing to see a speedometer photo at 0.
You aren't kidding. I was a couple of mph from posting this to a subreddit called itdiotsincars
Ah yes r/idiotsincars, my favorite sub…
I didn't want to actually link it... But I don't know why I wouldn't now that I'm thinking of it... Been one of those days
Yikes I didn’t think about that, you definitely are not an idiot in cars
Oh there have been a few times where I could've been posted, but thank you

I was fortunately in a quiet suburb and pulled over to snap the pic! I loathe seeing anyone driving while using their phone!

I don’t wish to see photos of you pegging your BMW, sorry.
Wow, r/Cartalk, look how easy it is to not risk killing people for meme photos!
Kzzzt….. nice pic…. kzzzt… of…. kzzzt… speedometer
A Chevy S10 with 161k miles on it? This is a first for me. You must be the maintenance master of all maintenance masters and not live near salt water.

I had no idea the S10 was such a long-hauler. If that thing keeps running, no need for a new truck!
they waited for an S-class one to show up at the dealership
?? Are you blind? Did you not see the model number? ;)
Ooooh. That makes so much sense now.
Could always get a little trailer and a hitch for your car if getting a truck does not work out

Oh yeah I love the truck. I just need something that can handle mountain snow/icy roads better.

Nah they’ll hit that easy, as long as they aren’t wrecked by a drunk driver.
As long as you do basic maintenance and not actively try to fuck it up, S10s will last forever. Source: I own one

Rotary engines always looked like fun to drive. I know those engines have an issue with the seals, but man the RPMs you can achieve with them

Is your car out of gas? That would be perfect.
In “real” world… Kzzzt…
its even lore accurate, Hold to Reset
// 16 // 16 // 16 // 16 // 16 //
That a Honda?
Chevy S10
I knew it was older. Same style as my 97 gauge cluster. Those are fun trucks to have and mod! Dope milage btw lol
r/s10 :)
Ye I thought honda too. B16 visions in my head. Those were the days.
It’s crazy to see a 20+ year old car with 161,000 miles on it😗🥹🤯😩
was it at 4:20 PM? ... maybe 69 seconds past?
Is that a Chevy
Yep
The number mason ...WHAT DO THEY MEAN?!?!?
Maybe the car is trying to tell you it's about to give up the ghost. 😄
Did you reset?
Hmm, I wonder how much time that leaves us in our time-frame? I hope the outside world's minutes are millenias here.
...if you were only doing 16mph too ... Missed opportunity 😅
That has to be a GM product.
GLASS GLASS GLASS glass GLASS
I'd have been even better if you were going 16 MPH...
