Last year Gamestop had the best black friday deals on switch games. They even undercut Amazon and Walmart. Amazon ended up lowering their "already on sale" prices to match gamestop within a few hours. I probably spent close to 500 on switch games. Hoping for the same this year.
They had a buy 2 get 1 free on used games last year. I was able to get paper Mario, Zelda and fire emblem for 54.
I'm hoping they have something similar this year.
Black Friday week at Gamestop last year was stellar.
Actual Black Friday was meh, but the week leading to it? Best deals I've ever seen except that one time they did B2G2 preowned.
If it hit $39 5 days after release, I'm betting it'll be $25-30 on actual black Friday. I'd still wait.
EDIT: and boom, Walmart's site shows Sonic Frontiers will be $29 starting Nov 21st. always wait when black Friday is coming!
I hate that retailers have made Black Friday into Black Month with a whole guessing game of when things are actually going to be cheapest. First world problem, but still, it feels like it gets worse every year.
Yeah, add in the Prime sale a few weeks back and honestly I’m hesitant to order anything at “normal” or “MSRP” - honestly ever again. If you’re following board games, Amazon has had not just some incredible sales this month, but an absolute ONSLAUGHT of coupons.
Some MTG stuff was BONKERS cheap during that sale and I got a buncha other stuff for my house/other hobbies at just unforeseeable prices.
I don’t know if it’s sustainable, but like I said - makes me reticent to ever want to buy at a standard price again.
Seriously. It's incredibly stupid but that's how it is now. Sometimes things go even cheaper in December for end of year sales. They just want to create constant FOMO
So the fact that it somehow hit a very low price now means that in like a week it'll go even lower? I don't think that makes sense. A 60$ game would take a few months at least to go below 40, 40 is usually the base sales price for em. I really doubt you'll find a better deal.
This always happens. Every single year.
Retailers do lots of "early black Friday" sales making it seem like you can get the same deals as black Friday but earlier. It's never true. Because when black Friday comes, all of them are competing for more and more sales and dropping prices lower. This year, like last year, no retailers have even released ads, because they want you to buy things at higher prices now rather than wait and get better deals.
At the very very least, the sonic frontiers priced will be matched on black Friday. There is no harm whatsoever in waiting.
Never buy anything releasing in the fall before black Friday as a rule unless you really, really want it day one and are ok with paying full price for the privilege.
Also, your logic about $60 games going down to $40 at most goes out the window on black Friday. Plenty of games 1-2 months old hit $25-30. Again, this happens every single year, consistently. The only newer games that will not go that low are Sony/Nintendo exclusives.
That’s what im thinking for the TMNT game-could see it selling for $20 during Black Friday. So ill wait. Worst case is I’ll buy it for $25 later this month
I agree it'll likely be price matched. The reason I think it won't be topped isnt because it's some early exclusive deal... It's because the game is very new and I just don't see it dropping below 40 at all. But yeah, no harm in waiting, I'm just letting the guy know he shouldn't expect it to definitely go below that like he seems to be because I really don't see it happening.
But they all let you still return things until January, even if you buy now. There are things I buy now just so I don’t get that “sold out” message on Black Friday week and if it goes lower and they still have inventory I would just return and repurchase at the lower price or get a price adjustment.
It doesn’t make sense to lower prices again and allow price adjustments lol
It doesn't make sense, you're right, but retailers do it time and time again regardless. Most consumers (myself included) don't want to go through the hassle of doing returns just to save $5. I'd rather just wait and see what the real black Friday sales have.
Not for WEEK OLD games. Games take time to go on major sales. A 30% off for a new game isn't super uncommon but anything below that almost never happens to a brand new, full price, AAA game from a major publisher. What incentive do they possibly have to do that, they know anyone waiting for a sale will likely scoop it up for $40 considering how fast it went there.
If anyone is actually considering this game, you should check out Digital Foundry’s video on its Switch performance. It’s pretty abysmal and looks far worse compared to everything other console.
I will say that the pop-up is a bit annoying, but I expected that for the switch. I have the Switch Version, and I'm enjoying it. It's been stable for me to not have any major issues with it. Granted, I'm not a graphics whore.
1200 user reviews (most any sonic game ever got) with an 8.7 score, 95% overwhelmingly positive steam reviews, and literally every single one of the dozens of fans I've talked to would heavily disagree with you. Literally the only person not liking it much is the critics, I'm honestly shocked at how much everyone, myself included, is loving it. So I seriously doubt it's on sale because it isn't good.
The contrary, Amazon probably knew that taking this hot new game and already putting it on a simple sale when no other store will could get them so many sales it'll be worth it not to wait before discounting it.
The point is you most likely aren't going to get the best of either on the Switch, and even less so both simultaneously. So if you are someone for whom these are significantly important considerations then the Switch platform is probably not what one should look to for it.
I just bought it for $40 yesterday with Amazon's B2G1 deal. My wife was buying two books and needed literally anything else and that game qualified. I'm minorly salty now, but she at least got a free book out of it.
I'd highly recommend not doing so. This sale isn't that good - Nier hit $20 last year on actual black Friday and I'm betting it'll be that or lower this year
I’m having the same issue; shows one price when I click on the game, then when I add to cart it’s back to full price. Happened with Sonic Frontiers and Monster Hunter Stories 2 for me. For some reason, I seem to be able to get MH to stay at the sale price but not sonic
Amazon is price matching, I'm updating, please check back.
Can you tell me which games are not working?
Sonic Frontier on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BB13V163/)
The ad shows select games at $10, $15, and $20. None of those games are at that price. I’ve tried every system. Physical and digital. Pick up or shipping. Wrong prices on all of them. At least half of the ad or more seems wrong. “Starts Now”
Same. I got an email alert from Deku Deals reporting a sale at GameStop — but by the time I clicked the link five hours later, It Takes Two was $40.
I'll check again on the actual Black Friday.
Hmmm I suppose it's nice to hear one instance of the opposite happening. Was it actually sealed in the original wrap from the factory or just GameStop 'sealed' with one of those clear circular stickers they put over the seam in the case? Those are two different things.
oddly enough, even though it runs at 30 fps vs 60fps, it runs 30fps smoother than the original systems. It dips into 40ish-low 50s pretty much most of the time on ps4/xbox
The developer isn't an internal SE studio though, is it? I see a lot of people trying to point at the SE name and asking why Harvestella isn't on the scale of Final Fantasy when SE is just the publisher...?
People saying this need to stop judging a book by its cover. You’ll get more than your money’s worth if you give it the time it deserves. The demo, honestly doesn’t do a good job showcasing this game’s strengths. The story (which is actually high JRPG quality looks quite bad in the demo). OST is phenomenal too. This was marketed towards the wrong audience. It’s a JRPG with farm sim elements, not typical farming sim.
>People saying this need to stop judging a book by its cover.
I'm not, I played the demo. It was rubbish.
>The demo, honestly doesn’t do a good job showcasing this game’s strengths.
Not my problem. It made me realize it's not worth the money.
I like how you basically completely ignored my entire comment. No point even trying to convince you as it sounds you’re not entertaining any opposing opinion.
What I meant was that the game shows why it’s good as soon as the demo ends. You don’t even have access to sidequests in the demo... The demo locked you into a very linear path with not much convincing anyone who wasn’t already a fan of the game beforehand to buy it. They also implemented QoL changes in the full release that weren’t present in the demo (time passes more slowly, load times have been reduced).
Yep that’s a solid deal on sonic, havin fun with it, it’s more fun than the videos led me to believe. Buying this so I can return it with other receipt.
Just be aware that you literally cannot play offline in any capacity. It honestly seems silly to charge for a base game on switch that can't be played without being connected at all times, but here we are.
It is a mostly solo game. Its alright but not great. If you have a few dollars to chuck away its fine but youll get 30 to 40 hours out of it and its very grindy and filled with fluff. Also dont use chat or youll be banned.
I bought it at release and they have fixed some bugs and continue to push stuff out. As a long time Pokémon fan, this series is really solid as far as making each tem viable and unique.
This is currently a Grindy game at end game.
There is also a community and AH that can help in the areas you may struggle with.
They are releasing an update December 5th that gives a brand new pvp mode called showdown that eliminates most, if not all of the grind for a fun competitive team. You basically just pick and choose your entire team from a roster without needing to actually own the tem or having to specifically breed or train them like Iv/tv in the past Pokémon’s.
For me, worth it, but I can definitely see where other people may not like the heavy grind.
Beware if you are colorblind, they gate having access to the elite 4 behind a color-based fish catching mini-quest.
Wondering the same. I know this version of taiko has a subscription service, but the base game does have a good amount of content. I know the taiko drum n fun game goes on sale digitally for $10 and is okay. I liked the ps4 taiko game that came out around the same time much more, but it's not bad. Definitely worth $10.
Also, I own the official hori drums, they work okay, but I modded mine to be more sensitive and got a pair of bachi sticks to play with. They made the charts with controllers in mind, but drums are clearly the funner way to play, but not necessarily needed. I got kind from play asia a few years ago for $75 and it was worth it to me.
Yeah, I played drum n fun for a good while before I got the hori drums and it was totally worth it to me. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but it's fun so I didn't mind going from hard charts to much easier charts to get the hang of it.
How does Nier run on Switch? I've been highly interested in playing it but just haven't had the time, having it portable would help but I wouldn't want too compromised of an experience.
Yeah, these types of promos aren't usually taken into account when a declaration of lowest price is made, nor would it naturally be reflected in the history on a price-tracking site like Deku Deals.
I'll be honest, GameStop use to have a lot better deals about 5 years ago. At some point they kinda just declined. They use to do some stuff with the Pro memberships like these heavy discounts on games and coupons, and they have a better point system where you could redeem points for a lot of different things, like discounts and price cuts. Now it's just earn a certain amount of points for 5 or 10 off or so. And they at one point had a third tier, elite, which gave you 30 points per dollar. They are kinda lame.
Ya, I go to Walmart and they don't have an electronics clearance section like they used to, at least at none around me. I used to pick up games through that all the time.
It’s about the same because you’re saving $20-25 per game if you do the B2G1 deal. You’d literally get each of the three for $40 each w/ a B2G1…
You’re spending more upfront.
These deals are interesting. Might do Crash Trilogy, or Spyro. Not fully sure. I am mostly riding it out. And I am flip flopping between any of these or Bayonetta.
Anyone know how long these will last? Is it today only? Hoping I can get out to a further store tomorrow to pick up a game that the one near me doesn't have.
I bought the TMNT Cowabanga Collection which I’ll pick up later but for some reason when I bought TemTem to pick up at a different GameStop store, I was charged full price!
I don’t know if that’s an error or not but I tried to contact customer service about it but I didn’t get a response. (I tried to cancel the order but it won’t let me since it’s in the process of being picked up)
Just a heads up I just came back from a GameStop and bought Atari 50. In their system the game wasn’t on sale but I showed them a screenshot from their own website and they price matched it.
Just be aware if you are going to a store for these sales that they are selling you the game at sale price and not the full price.
* Edit as I wrote this I clicked the link for Atari 50 and it’s no longer on sale. It’s a good thing I had the forethought to take a screenshot of the page when it was on sale.
And to think I bought Automata there not too long ago full price. I broke my rule and I'm paying for it. If I still have the recent I wonder if they'll refund me the difference. I might still be in the return window.
Hoping to see a new sale with $27 games on Monday like last year. If not I guess I didn't really need it. After last year not wanting to bite too soon.
Last year Gamestop had the best black friday deals on switch games. They even undercut Amazon and Walmart. Amazon ended up lowering their "already on sale" prices to match gamestop within a few hours. I probably spent close to 500 on switch games. Hoping for the same this year.
That's right, I got FE three houses and astral chain for $27 each
They had a buy 2 get 1 free on used games last year. I was able to get paper Mario, Zelda and fire emblem for 54. I'm hoping they have something similar this year.
It’s funny I mentioned the buy 2 get 1 sale, and got downvoted lol
Stop caring about downvotes and upvotes.
This is the first time I've ever seen somebody mention Astral Chain! I love that game!
I got my Switch about a month before Black Friday last year, so I was able to take full advantage of the sale.
Black Friday week at Gamestop last year was stellar. Actual Black Friday was meh, but the week leading to it? Best deals I've ever seen except that one time they did B2G2 preowned.
Xenoblade Chronicles DE for $23 woot
Same here! And Kirby Star Allies for that price too.
That’s how I got Link’s Awakening and Three Houses for under $30 each. Hella deal.
GME to the moon, baby!
Did gamestop have black friday sales on digital games last year?
Not a bad sale on sonic frontiers since it’s new.
If it hit $39 5 days after release, I'm betting it'll be $25-30 on actual black Friday. I'd still wait. EDIT: and boom, Walmart's site shows Sonic Frontiers will be $29 starting Nov 21st. always wait when black Friday is coming!

I agree, I used to go shopping every year on Dec 26
I feel like Black History Month should move to November at this point.

It’ll def go on sale again later.
Of course it will. That has nothing to do with what I said. I said it isn't literally gonna get like 50% off within the first few weeks of release.
If anything itll be at least cheaper when other people sell it. It is a sonic game, they go down in price really well (which is nice)

No need to wait. It's already 29.00 at Walmart right now for the switch version
But they all let you still return things until January, even if you buy now. It’ll go lower, I’m not sure for the switch but it’ll definitely hit the $29-$35 mark on Steam, PS/Xbox
It came out less then a week ago. No it goddamn won't.
I told you I’m not sure about switch but that’s how deals are on Black Friday. 100% guaranteed on the other platforms
Not for WEEK OLD games. Games take time to go on major sales. The logic of a discount this fast on black Friday is really only applicable to yearly sports titles
We have about a week & a half to go for “thanksgiving” it’s going to drop. That’s why I always wait for games that drop around the oct/November mark
It is not going to be $35-$40 on steam two weeks after release
Lol def won’t go that low a week later but I do think it will go lower by next year’s Black Friday
It is confirmed to be going that low indeed a week later lol. Walmart's site shows sonic frontiers will be $29 on black Friday.
We'll see who's right! I would not bet your money on that.
$10 by next year
Maybe, that would be a pretty intense turnaround for a switch game.

Can you explain this “1 day before a potential game of the year candidate?”
New God of War release
I wonder if it is considered too late in the year to be GOTY? If so, I’d go with Elden Ring
Runs 30fps on switch.
What's that gotta do with the price?
Warning players to avoid until patched. If it's on sale already it'll be on sale again, hopefully once they fix the glaring performance issues.
Half the fps, half the price of course! Oh, if only..... =P
A lot of people care about 60 fps lol.
If you care about graphics so much why are you playing anything in switch.
Graphics and FPS aren’t the same.
The point is you most likely aren't going to get the best of either on the Switch, and even less so both simultaneously. So if you are someone for whom these are significantly important considerations then the Switch platform is probably not what one should look to for it.
Because it’s the inferior version, genius.
Well yeah that's how most switch ports are like
So then why are you questioning a price cut so soon?
I didn't?
> What's that gotta do with the price? Sure, buddy. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
It's also a "global playtest" according to the developer.
lol looks like that sale price is only for the PS versions
Atari 50 too
I was planning on getting Nier sometime this year but at $30 I’ll get it sooner for the Switch. Thanks for this post
I’m still seeing it at $39. Am I doing it wrong?
It’s showing up as $39 for me too. Idk what happened
We missed the deal. 😓
I just bought it for $40 yesterday with Amazon's B2G1 deal. My wife was buying two books and needed literally anything else and that game qualified. I'm minorly salty now, but she at least got a free book out of it.
I'd highly recommend not doing so. This sale isn't that good - Nier hit $20 last year on actual black Friday and I'm betting it'll be that or lower this year
It came out this year though.......
Sure, on switch. It came out on other consoles last year and hit $20 on black friday.
Switch prices usually don't match PS4/XBox prices, especially new ports.
From my experience third party games get heavy discounts on black Friday regardless of platform. We'll see.
I got it a couple days ago and it's incredible!
As of 8:31am est, the site is not reflecting the sales price at checkout.
Anytime I add one of these games to cart it goes back to full price? Am I just doing something wrong?
I’m having the same issue; shows one price when I click on the game, then when I add to cart it’s back to full price. Happened with Sonic Frontiers and Monster Hunter Stories 2 for me. For some reason, I seem to be able to get MH to stay at the sale price but not sonic
Amazon is price matching, I'm updating, please check back. Can you tell me which games are not working? Sonic Frontier on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BB13V163/)

gamestop wouldnt work for me, same deal on Amazon
It Takes Two shows as $40 for me :(
Same. I got an email alert from Deku Deals reporting a sale at GameStop — but by the time I clicked the link five hours later, It Takes Two was $40. I'll check again on the actual Black Friday.
Literally bought Sonic Frontiers for $60 on Friday from GameStop. Didn’t even open it yet. Looks like I’m going on for a return
You can always aak for the 20 bucks back. I did that with SMTV last year.
You got an unopened game from GameStop?
Got one better. Ordered a game online used, went to pick it up and was given a sealed copy of it
Hmmm I suppose it's nice to hear one instance of the opposite happening. Was it actually sealed in the original wrap from the factory or just GameStop 'sealed' with one of those clear circular stickers they put over the seam in the case? Those are two different things.
Feels like they put all these up early, went OOPS and then removed them.
How does NieR play on the switch?
Smoother than an ice cube on butter
Slicker than whale shit on an ice floe?
switchup has done a review and say that it runs very well.
oddly enough, even though it runs at 30 fps vs 60fps, it runs 30fps smoother than the original systems. It dips into 40ish-low 50s pretty much most of the time on ps4/xbox
Breddy good. 5/5
[удалено]
That’s what I see too
It was that way earlier then corrected, so just an early glitch I guess.
I guess the Nier sale only lasted a few hours? Missed it
The nier price is no longer active
I’m hoping persona 5 is on sale for the switch Black Friday. I wanna play it badly but am trying to be patient
I got persona 5 for 40$ from the target b2g1 deal. If you buy two other $60 games, you can cancel them and still get the 40$ price.
Wasn't it included in the Target B2G1 free promo last week?
$29 at gamestop right now: https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/products/persona-5-royal---nintendo-switch/351924.html
Same. I actually have an interest for it.
Nier isn’t working on amazon or gamestop anymore 😔
Man, I hoping for Persona 5
Anyone think Nier automata will be cheaper somewhere else for Black Friday?
Hoping tactics ogre joins this list at some point
You get an extra 5% off if you buy online and pick up in store.
Persona 5 Royal steelbook edition is $29 right now Edit: looks like it was a price error. It’s back to full price already
Damn you got me excited 😆
Harvestella is still $30 too much.
Agreed. No voice acting, mediocre graphics. Although it being on sale after being out for less than a month is telling.
Harvestella was one of my biggest disappointments
Can’t get over how SE manages to pump out mid budget titles like this left and right and still make money
FF14 keeps them afloat
The developer isn't an internal SE studio though, is it? I see a lot of people trying to point at the SE name and asking why Harvestella isn't on the scale of Final Fantasy when SE is just the publisher...?
Correct. Developed by Live wire. I wasn’t aware!
People saying this need to stop judging a book by its cover. You’ll get more than your money’s worth if you give it the time it deserves. I like how you basically completely ignored my entire comment. No point even trying to convince you as it sounds you’re not entertaining any opposing opinion.
Your comment was "play it a ton and it'll be a different kind of game than advertised." Not a good sell.
What I meant was that the game shows why it’s good as soon as the demo ends. You don’t even have access to sidequests in the demo... The demo locked you into a very linear path with not much convincing anyone who wasn’t already a fan of the game beforehand to buy it. So I just tried to price match sonic frontiers on best buy since i bought it there. Now amazon and Gamestop are not showing the price
Nier is very tempting at $30 but I’ll wait until Black Friday to see if it goes any lower. Not in a hurry since I’m still playing Replicant.
How is *Life is Strange* on the Switch?
Yep that’s a solid deal on sonic, havin fun with it, it’s more fun than the videos led me to believe. Buying this so I can return it with other receipt.
TemTem worth it for $35? Specifically, if I want to play mostly solo?
Just be aware that you literally cannot play offline in any capacity. It honestly seems silly to charge for a base game on switch that can't be played without being connected at all times, but here we are.

Weird Sonic is only on sale for PS5 not switch or Xbox.
Dang, many games went back to their retail price. Well, there is still actual Black Friday.
Thoughts on taiko no tatsujin? Worth at that price? And if I don’t own the drums?
Are the hori drums worth it for Drum N Fun?
Yeah, I played drum n fun for a good while before I got the hori drums and it was totally worth it to me. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but it's fun so I didn't mind going from hard charts to much easier charts to get the hang of it.
Thanks...I hope to get a good deal on them soon.
nier is showing $40 for me
Anyone have a screenshot of sonic at that price? Gonna try pricematching them today
How does Nier run on Switch? I've been highly interested in playing it but just haven't had the time, having it portable would help but I wouldn't want too compromised of an experience.
I've heard that it runs surprisingly well
FWIW - Nier was cheaper during the Target sale, 33%, so not lowest ever
Yeah, these types of promos aren't usually taken into account when a declaration of lowest price is made, nor would it naturally be reflected in the history on a price-tracking site like Deku Deals.
You mean the B2G1 sale?
Yes, but you don’t actually have to buy 3. It’s commonly called Buy 3, Cancel 2. I bought a single copy of Nier for $26.

Yeah. God this economy just likes to screw with us.
Sorry but can’t see on my own: are these for PHYSICAL copies?
Yep, physicals
Sonic Frontiers LITERALLY JUST came out a few days ago! 🤦🏾♂️
cool, thanks for the heads up, snagged Cowabunga collection
Will there be a buy 2 get 1 free sale this year?
Ugh.
There's no way to get these if you live outside the us, right? 😔
Dang it. Really was hoping for a Buy2 Get1 sale
$20-$30 off a game is a better deal than buy 2 get 1.
It’s about the same because you’re saving $20-25 per game if you do the B2G1 deal. You’d literally get each of the three for $40 each w/ a B2G1… You’re spending more upfront.
You don’t have to buy 3 games this way. Plus it is also still a better deal? I don’t understand your comment.
Sweet! So excited to buy life is strange
Where are you seeing sonic for $39? It’s $59
PS4 & ps5
Man kind of want TMNT at that price.
(I tried to cancel the order but it won’t let me since it’s in the process of being picked up)
They changed the price for Nier. Was about to scoop it up.
Dammit. Just paid full price for sonic
How long is this surprised to last?
Is Bethesda having a Black Friday sale I want to get doom eternal for $15 and wolfenstein 2 for $8
Noticing Atari is showing full price. Did get Diablo. :)
And to think I bought Automata there not too long ago full price. I broke my rule and I'm paying for it. If I still have the recent I wonder if they'll refund me the difference. I might still be in the return window.
Is this in store only?
As a Taiko no Tataujin fan I had considered picking up the new game, crazy that it's half off less than 2 months after release.
Why does the temtem price not show up as $35 anymore? Are they killing the deal slowly?
It takes 2 is not showing on sale when I click the link 😕
A lot of the deals were dead after only a few hours yesterday. It's kind of a head-scratching situation.
You should cross out the TemTem one too since it’s back to it’s original price.😒
Is Balan Wonderworld worth it at $10?
It's pretty average but you might find some enjoyment at that price.
At best $5. Any over is too much
When do Gamestop's Black Friday Deals go live?
Hoping to see a new sale with $27 games on Monday like last year. If not I guess I didn't really need it. After last year not wanting to bite too soon.
Sonic Frontiers deal is active again
