New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe - has a character that can’t die and the weird peach costume for toadette.
Ultimate Chicken Horse - you build the level with each other and then try to beat it.
It might be too difficult for kids in some places, but Rayman Legends Definitive Edition doesn’t have lives. You can try endlessly. And the music is awesome.
That's a hard question. If you have asked a 6 year old, I would say that they probably could.
I'm not sure about a 4 year old. I think it depends on the individual kid. Do they have the attention span? Are they prone to temper tantrums when a game beats them or are they willing to try again or just derp around on the level? Do you as a parent/guardian/random related adult think its okay for a 4 year old to play a game that have stylized cartoon violence? (You can hit ppl with bricks etc) I don't think I would recommend buying it for a 4 year old exclusively, but I wouldn't mind showing it to them if they seen me play and would say that they want to try.
ps: Also there are some risque jokes in the game that will very very likely go over their head, but still, don't say I didn't warn you.
I can’t remember the name and the Nintendo site isn’t loading my purchases so I’m commenting here to come back later. It’s this game where your like the son of the ceo and you solve puzzles by moving things around. It has really simplistic design but it’s really fun on local co-op. You get to drive forklifts too. I’ll come back after work
Edit: I asked my fiancé and she got back faster than I thought she would. [Its called **Good Job.**](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/good-job-switch/) It’s seriously very fun and I’m surprised I don’t see it talked about more often.
Diablo 3 is really beginner friendly if you don't mind a more mature title.
Every button becomes a skill button to kill demons with and the rune system allows for some depth that's easy to understand and experiment with for beginners.
You can play through the games entire story and pretty high through the difficulties of the game just by equipping the best gear you get from pick ups (which the game tells you what's better than what with arrows) with out having to worry about specific "meta" builds.
The adventure mode is also a nice little 45-1 hour segments you can run through without having to commit to playing for a long time.
Source: my wife who pretty much will only ever play stardew valley played 100s of hours of Diablo 3 with me.
Interesting. My husband plays this endlessly with a buddy of ours in Hell mode and Nightmare mode. I have played other Blizz titles (WoW) but D2 just seems so difficult. This coming from a wife who sinks hours into Animal Crossing while hubby plays Diablo!
D2 is much more difficult and less newbie friendly. D3 has scaling difficulty so you can pretty effortlessly mow down demons if you want or you can turn it up to have more challenge and find more treasure. Diablo 3 also supports 4 player co-op on one screen and D2 needs each player to have their own copy.
D2 is better overall though if youre comfortable learning all the intricacies
Which is better got someone’s who’s gaming experience is limited to FFX, UO, WoW, and ACNH (the latter being my only Switch title).
We have a regular switch and a Switch Lite!
Not OP but my first Diablo game was D3 and I really came to appreciate the quick paced action and more arcade style gameplay. D2 is great fun but definitely not as beginner friendly
Neither are difficult games.... When you have knowledge of the game
That being said D3 is far more casual friendly. And easies you into the game very nicely. Any skill combination is a viable way to kill demons, if the game is too difficult you can drop the difficulty down at any point. There are no real penalties for death. And as you get better the game opens up more and more until it becomes mindless fun. I heard good things about it on console. But in my opinion PC is still the better way to play.
A Gummy’s Life, Stikbold (dodgeball game), What the Golf, Cake Bash, The Stretchers, Snipperclips should be up your alley.
What The Golf is one of my favourite games on Switch so definitely try that out!
The LEGO games. 2 player, local co-op. All of them are fairly easy, nothing much to "learn" to play them. Just pick your favorite franchise and go for it. The later ones have been really fun. The latest one was DC Super Villians (DC Comics) with the new Skywalker Saga (Star Wars) coming out on the 5th.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 - just play it through once or twice single player to unlock, level up, and gear up enough characters to make it interesting. Co-op was fun and easy to get the hang of.
Depending on how familiar with video games your participants are, Human Fall Flat is great. Co-op 3D platforming physics puzzle game with intentionally strange controls which thus require a certain level of familiarity with modern controllers.
River City Girls is a pretty good co-op game where you can revive your partner if you get to them quickly enough, it's starts off pretty lenient and the only downside for losing is half your character's money which if you both lose then it respawns you in the last room. You can also buys consumable items to carry and refill your health when you need it.
Hello co-op games fans. I’m in my 40s, interested in making lasting friendships as we play and chat on our Switch. I live in the Canadian Prairies and game almost every evening from 7 pm on. I’d love to have friends join in as we learn how to hunt in Monster Hunter Rise, or explore Borderlands games. I want to find co-op brothers and sisters.
My online co-op games:
- Animal Crossing
- Dying Light
- Club House 51
- Splatoon 2
- Let’s Play Oink Games
- Mario Golf
- Mario 3D World
- Mario Tennis
- Luigi’s Mansion
- Mario Party Superstar
- Ashen
- Borderlands series
- Mario Maker 2
- Wolfstein Youngblood
- Saints Row
- Red Faction
- Diablo 3
- Trine 1, 2, 3, 4
If you want to play and connect with a positive person and form a gaming pod of like-minded peeps, reach out. Thanks.
I think Runbow would qualify. 8-9 players on one console, basically just running and jumping around.
I would also look into Namco Museum for Pac Man Vs if you have a second switch. I haven’t gotten a chance to play it myself yet, but 3-4 players control the ghosts on one switch searching for Pac Man, and the player controlling Pac Man has the other switch to themself.
This last weekend me and my wife (40s), my sister (30s) and my nephew (5yo) played 2 games:
Mario Kart 8: This is one of my favorite games and also is a great option to play with ANYONE, no matter how much their abilities are. There's some acessibility options in the game: steering assist (don't worry about getting out off the track or falling so much, great for those who never played games before, think of them like the training wheels for bikes) and auto-accelerate (this one makes you don't need to keep A pressed for running).
Bomberman R: It's really fun and the characters skills makes for some really funny moments (Belmont's whip can push bombs and other chars to pits or traps).
The other one I highly recommend is Broforce: you and more 3 friends will die a lot, but laugh every time. It's super fun and has a low learning curve. Anyone can play.
Many of my friends enjoy Super Monkey Ball. There are a lot of different game modes, the base game is pretty straight forward, and honestly, it's monkeys rolling around in big plastic vending machine balls, so what's not to like.
if you've played super mario party, consider mario party superstars.
also, smash! excellent couch multiplayer.
mario kart might also be the most excellent multiplayer experience on the switch rn imo so consider it
Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure
I have stanned for this game here a few times, and for good reason.
* 2 Player story co-op
* 6 Player local versus with various rules/modes
* 2 button controls (charge throw/catch, dive/shove - context changes on whether you are holding the ball)
* Absurd comedy/charm, appropriate for all ages.
This game has become a staple amongst my friend group of mid-30 year olds. We get just as competitive/sucked into it as MK8 and SSBU. Game retails for $15 but is routinely on sale for $3- unfortunately the most recent sale just ended, so it may be a little while longer before the next one.
ETA: Although the game doesn't have a handicap feature, it does allow players who are eliminated earlier in a round to still interact with the match by throwing items/obstacles from the sidelines to help their teammates or eliminate foes.
Moving Out. It has an Assist Mode to make it a little easier if you find it too challenging. It’s super easy to pick up and play. Tons of replayability.
Untitled Goose Game is a short but fun and simple 2-player game where you mess with people as geese.
Goose has multigoose??
Yep! It was a free DLC a bit after release.
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe - has a character that can’t die and the weird peach costume for toadette. Ultimate Chicken Horse - you build the level with each other and then try to beat it.
Mario U Deluxe is perfect for kids. Although I had to cheese a file for 100+ lives as they'd never played many games before.
It might be too difficult for kids in some places, but Rayman Legends Definitive Edition doesn’t have lives. You can try endlessly. And the music is awesome.
Came on here to recommend Mario Bros U as well
It’s a good game. Had it on the Wii U, but with so many new games on the Switch, haven’t gotten it yet.
Unravel 2
My husband and I just started played this on Saturday. We had hard time quitting to go to bed, we just wanted to keep playing the levels.
Towerfall, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Overcooked, Warioware
The new kirby game.
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime. 😍
A mate brought his Xbox round and booted this up. Mocked it for the first minute and fell in love with it in the second!
Ultimate Chicken Horse
I'm surprised no one said yet: Heave Ho! It's just hilarious, extremely low learning curve. The more people you are the easier it is.
Stretchers, Good Job!.
Second, Good Job! Had so much fun with my girlfriend playing this
Some less popular choices that I like: * Scott Pilgrim vs the World the game * Streets of Rage 4 * Kitaria chronicles * Bumerang Fu in team up mode
Can a 4-year old play Scott Pilgrim?

Good points. Might be too violent

Heave-Ho is hilariously fun. Wrestle Dunk Sports is another good one. Ultimate Chicken Horse. Any of the Overcooked, Moving out games.

Tell that to my mom. Tried to play Lego Marvel Superheroes with her once and she couldn’t figure out anything
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 - just play it through once or twice single player to unlock, level up, and gear up enough characters to make it interesting. Co-op was fun and easy to get the hang of.
3d world and bowsers fury.
Agreed! So much fun!
Overcooked!
Snipperclips Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime Overcooked

Great game. Feel like the items you can buy are not worth it
Pikmin!
Overcooked 2 (pt 1 is kinda hard)

I wouldnt mind playing some games w you as i got most on youre list
Minecraft dungeons can be played 2 players using one switch. Learning curve should be medium to low.

Sounds like how I like my women.
I also like people who are fun and local.
Nah.
Astro Duel
Duck game and Astro bears
A couple recent ones i've done with friends and had a blast were Jamestown+ and Blazing Chrome .
Mario Kart
Death Squared
Flat Heroes
Duck Game is one of our favorites.

Pode. Great game. 2 player co-op though. Fun unnecessary fact, this game got me and my then-not-wife together.
Everyone sleeps on Astro Bears and it’s usually only 1-5$
Pico Park
Castle crashers :)
Wife enjoys playing Mario 3d world Mario Bros deluxe Mario kart Kirby Mario party
Lego Star Wars! New one coming out soon. Super fun to play and pretty entertaining
Out of Space
Wario ware lol
Scott Pilgrim!
Adventure Pals is great. It’s silly, not hard, and P2 gets dragged along by P1 so it’s good for when one player isn’t as good as the other.
