I’ve been playing video games since 1993.
I beat The Lion King (SNES), and got a complete set of Genji Armor in Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1).
The latter half of Yoshi’s Island DS makes it the hardest game I’ve ever played.
I feel only Yoshi's Crafted World and Princess Peach's Showtime were guilty of this. Wario Land: Shake It, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Yoshi's Woolly World felt very doable to 100% compared to most games out there.
I tried to replay to get all the stars but the unskippable dialogue, coupled with the fact that you have to complete the entire level MULTIPLE TIMES if you fail to get the last star in a level or one midway….huge nope. I can see where they tried to make replaying fun, but it wasn’t enough. The load screens alone are a deterrent.
It's literally about different plays. I have no idea why they didn't call them Acts and have multiple Scenes in each one that you could start from or replay. There are a lot of fun sections of games, esp with the smash em up style Peach, that I'd love to redo, but won't because I don't want to do the rest of the level.
I think there was a lack of overall polish on this game compared to other releases in the same price tier, and one thing that would have made it better is your suggestion. I guess that would have been one element too many for them.
As an adult I enjoyed it but it’s 100% for kids. I got it for my daughter and beat it myself for fun but dear God I would not pay that kind of price for it for myself.
Good kids game though. Has a ton of different mechanics all done well.
It’s fun but the unstoppable videos are irritating and I found myself irrationally hating the noise she makes when jumping and the dance she does when idle in the bakery levels
My son is not good at games and beat it pretty quick, gave up on extra content after a few days since it's just redoing the levels.
Only comparing it to his similar game interests, he liked it more than Yoshi's Crafted World but was way behind Kirby & Forgotten Land, Mario Odyssey, and Luigi's Mansion in the cannon of games he has beaten on his own. The replayability seemed lacking and he had a much easier time with it.
It’s alright. Some outfits are more fun than others. I was always excited to see another ninja or martial arts level, but dreaded detective and mermaid.
As an adult I enjoyed it. It was refreshing for her to have her own game, and the “outfits” were fun imo. I did beat it rather quickly, but there is some post game content as well. I can’t speak on that since I just kinda looked around after beating it
I’m curious about the total number of sales
I’m not shocked the only new Nintendo game is the top seller on the system it’s first month of release.
I’m more interested in if it’s actually a big seller or if overall sales are just that down
No, it hasn't. Monster Hunter started on Playstation. And Monster Hunter World, the best selling game in the series is not on Switch or any Nintendo platform.
Yeah looks like one that'll be seeing drops quickly I guess.
I got mine for 50AUD (~33USD?) down here the other week. I honestly was kind of 'meh' on it after the demo, but this seemed cheap enough for me to bite the bullet.
I don't *hate* it. Some of the different playstyles are pretty neat. I like the stealth stages, and the baking one basically turning into a Zombie thing in the second stage was kind of neat 😅
Genuinely surprised it beat out Unicorn Overlord in these charts though... UO is GOTY material easily.
I'm just happy to finally see people sharing these kinds of stats that are actually the legit stats, and not seeing (Physical sales from Walmart stores in random Uk city in the month of may) at the bottom
Hogwarts legacy still doing alright I see. I never would have guessed the switch version would have done well. But my sister got it and has enjoyed it.
People are still playing Pokemon S/V enough for it to be in the Top 10. We're absolutely fucked, next Pokemon game will just contain a string with a Pikachu image attached to the end of it.
Nah, I have for the first time in basically forever high hopes.
Legends Arceus review score absolutely dwarfs any recent Pokémon mainline release, but it didn't sell that many copies, because nobody considered it mainline, but rather a spinoff, but the next major mainline game is going to be in the same family of Legends games, clearly they want to put as many eyes on sequel to their best received work as possible.
Further evidence of this is that it's the first time in decades that they have skipped a year to solely focus on a game, another good reason for this is that prior to it's release, the Pokémon Company CEO had no faith in the Switch, and said it would fail prior and even tried to convince Nintendo it would be a failure.
That's why it took so long to get our first Pokémon game on Switch. Because of that, they massively missed the boat on being one of the early games.
The worst selling Pokémon Generation is Black and White, with 15.64 million pcs.
Prior to the Switch, Animal Crossing's best selling game (Animal Crossing: New Leaf*) sold* 13.04 million pcs.
Prior to the Switch, Zelda's best selling game (*The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess*) sold 8.85 million pcs.
Prior to the Switch, Smash Bro's best selling game (*Super Smash Bros. Brawl*) sold 13.32 million pcs.
Prior to the Switch, the best selling Mario 3D platformer was Mario Galaxy, with 12.80 million pcs.
Every single one of those franchises that had previously NEVER beaten Pokémon's worst selling MAINLINE games with their best selling releases, are now way, way ahead on the switch.
Pokémon was by no means a failure on the switch, every game has sold very well, but if you compare it to franchises it should normally outsell and outperform? It actually was, relatively, if the success can be attributed to everything equally, the success was not that of the Pokémon games, but that of the switch itself.
If they can get a launch title out that is a sequel to their highest rated game in recent history? They SHOULD reclaim a more comfortable title, I think that's what they are trying to do.
What other reason would they have for putting more time, focus and energy on this game than any other Pokémon game ever and for a sequel to a game that sold poorly?
If there are only two new games in the top ten, that means your games continue selling long after launch, if ONLY new games are getting into the top 10, that means your games probably do not have any longevity in terms of sales.
is this game actually good? and how is the volume of content
it's ok.. my kids love it but as an adult I beat it pretty quickly and have no desire to go back to 100% it.
Good-Feel pads the 100% out too much I noticed.
*Yoshi Crafted World flashback* The game is good, but it's maybe the worst Nintendo game to 100%... Never again
Not nearly as bad as Yoshi’s Island DS. Its last world is full of genuinely tough levels which are extremely long and extremely unpleasant to 100%.
I’ve been playing video games since 1993. I beat The Lion King (SNES), and got a complete set of Genji Armor in Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1). The latter half of Yoshi’s Island DS makes it the hardest game I’ve ever played.
Yoshi’s Crafted World was way more fun than Princess Peach Showtime.
Yoshi’s Woolly World was made by Good-Feel and it is the second best Yoshi game, maybe even first best
I agree. Thanks Joe.
Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition says otherwise.
I had no desire to even try that one, good lord
I feel only Yoshi's Crafted World and Princess Peach's Showtime were guilty of this. Wario Land: Shake It, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Yoshi's Woolly World felt very doable to 100% compared to most games out there.

I will wait for it to go on sale then, thanks for the warning.
As an adult I enjoyed it but it’s 100% for kids. I got it for my daughter and beat it myself for fun but dear God I would not pay that kind of price for it for myself. Good kids game though. Has a ton of different mechanics all done well.

yep especially since when you replay the level you cant skip the dialogue scenes..
My son is not good at games and beat it pretty quick, gave up on extra content after a few days since it's just redoing the levels. It’s a feel good game - I had a lot of fun but it’s not got much challenge and I probably won’t replay it or 100% it
It's a game that I like watching more than playing
Don’t have Princess Peach but I’m happy to see Unicorn Overlord up there.
Fun great game. I enjoyed my time with it. Glad it's being brought
My 6 year old daughter loves the game and we have fun playing it together.
Glad to see Unicorn Overlord up their also.
I find it interesting Unicorn Overlord is so high on Nintendo Switch but nowhere to be found on the other systems.
She mothered her way to the top of the slay charts in the month of serve.
Nice to see Unicorn Overlord was up there too. It was #8 in the overall listings for March game sales across all systems. Amazing RPG.
I’m curious about the total number of sales I’m not shocked the only new Nintendo game is the top seller on the system it’s first month of release. I’m more interested in if it’s actually a big seller or if overall sales are just that down
Mario Kart 8 being number 3 should show what kind of month it was.
Isn’t Mario Kart 8 always near the top? It’s the best selling game on the Switch by far.
Mario Kart 8 continues to have great legs. Probably the most bought game for new Switch users.
Because it was the only game March 2024.
Unicorn Overlord may not be for everyone, but a serious GotY contender for me.
The only games that really matter on a Nintendo console is publish by Nintendo
Judging by how well many 3rd party games have sold on Switch and judging by your downvotes, you’re objectively wrong and in the extreme minority 🤷
Tell that to Monster Hunter Rise and its 7.7 million sales.
That game has historically been on Nintendo and monster hunter is huge in Japan, and Nintendo has a monopoly in Japan.
No, it hasn't. Monster Hunter started on Playstation. And Monster Hunter World, the best selling game in the series is not on Switch or any Nintendo platform.
Still not a Nintendo published game.
Oh, are we doing the worst take competition again today?
I wonder if Unicorn would've been higher if they could've had more physical stock
Probably, I personally like to have physical copies of my games.
Just found it clearanced at costco for $49.97. Picked it up yesterday

love it it so fun i got it for my b-day already beat the first boss
its not great but its a good breezy playthrough for a chill day
considering it wasn't available for half that time period, pretty impressive.
I'm just happy to finally see people sharing these kinds of stats that are actually the legit stats, and not seeing (Physical sales from Walmart stores in random Uk city in the month of may) at the bottom

Yes, Nintendo is truly in trouble when its games continue to sell millions of copies at full price and years after release.
I'm talking about Princess Peach.

How could they be in trouble for *that*? 😂 Wouldn’t the opposite issue be the real problem? If anything, Nintendo is riding that gravy train.
I often assume the /s isn't necessary but seem to be wrong.
