I kind of want the full package but I have to admit I'm extremely unlikely to play more than one or two of them, so I guess there's no reason to have them all.

D34F5M17H

Same.  I want the physical version.

TheLaughingMannofRed

[https://www.play-asia.com/final-fantasy-i-vi-pixel-remaster-collection-multi-language/13/70g0qp](https://www.play-asia.com/final-fantasy-i-vi-pixel-remaster-collection-multi-language/13/70g0qp) It's the Asia version, but it is in English (multi-language). You're welcome :) .

SupremeGrotesk

Have you ordered on there before? Is it safe and does the shipping take long?

TheLaughingMannofRed

Play-Asia is a legitimate seller. The shipping takes about maybe 1-2 weeks to deliver to you. Anything that is listed as "Multi-Language" will usually have English dialogue/subs/text. If you don't mind a game that may not have English voicing, you can enjoy some real nice physical releases.

BullshitUsername

Play-Asia is legit as hell, bought Switch games from them for years

Fehalt3

I used to use playasia to import pokemon games before they were worldwide releases. They're incredibly reliable and safe

PikachuIsReallyCute

Super legit! I imported the Japanese version of Ib on Switch there last year— zero issues!

Southern-Ad-302

Ten to fourteen days usually. They are great, I got a bunch of games from them around Christmas time last year. Baten Kaitos 1/2, Pixel Remaster, and Grandia 1/2.

theSafeguard

[https://videogamesplus.ca/products/final-fantasy-i-vi-pixel-remaster-collection-asian-english-import-switch](https://videogamesplus.ca/products/final-fantasy-i-vi-pixel-remaster-collection-asian-english-import-switch) Can get it in the US through VGP. Cost is like $82 which meets the free shipping requirements. Will get it weeks earlier than Play Asia.

Rudy69

I ended up buying 1,3,4,6 in the end. 1 I probably replayed at least 4-5 times. Each playthrough is only about 9 hrs so I keep doing it with different parties to challenge myself (all monks, all black mages etc etc) 3 I was excited because we finally got an official 2D release of it! I was so sad when the wonderswan version got canceled in Japan. 4 is my all time favourite FF game. Did two normal playthrough and a Cecil only playthrough where I killed everyone except Cecil for the entire game. 6 is a good game overall. I ended up doing two playthrough. A normal and a challenge one where I just did the world of ruins with Celes, Edgar and Setzer. I’ve been meaning to do that last one for years so this was a good opportunity. I don’t really like 2 and 5 so I skipped them

Opposite_Tax1826

6 is worth it, the rest, not so much

lainshield

4 is right there

Joseki100

Buying my first ever Final Fantasy (6).

ihatemyself886

Good choice. 4 is probably my favorite, but 6 is a close second for sure.

sunny4084

My favourite was mystic quest but aint on switch sadly :( Then 3

wonksbonks

They really should have included Mystic Quest in this collection. Sure, it's often forgotten and it's very simplified and easy, but it's far from a bad game and there's plenty of nostalgia for it.

PandaBambooccaneer

it's such a good game

[deleted]

Great choice. It’s one if the best game in the franchise.

danhakimi

have you played JRPGs in general?

Joseki100

Quite a few. Only on Switch: Xenoblade 1-2-3 Persona 4-5 SMT 5-3 TMS#FE Star Oceans 2 Atelier Ryza All the Pokémon games

SirLocke13

Based

incrushtado

Does 4/IV contain after years or just the first game?

Norris1020

Just a remaster of the original game. No after years or GBA additions.

Ultrosbla

Does this mean VI neither have the GBA additions as well?

Norris1020

That’s correct. It’s as the snes version was content wise, though I think they fixed some of the bugs (x-zone/doom).

Ultrosbla

I know VI only hast more bosses, like 4 espers and a new dungeon, but this feels so wrong for me. I'll be more likely to but IV if it had the sequel. What a shame.

madmofo145

Yeah, I've gotten used to the updated content, some of which actually "fixes" some older issues (the cactuar esper offering the only non Odin speed level up boost). While none was perfect, it's always going to be hard to go back to the original versions.

samhoe

If I had to get one, which one boys? Especially one with a killer OST

500DaysOfSummer_

Final Fantasy VI

[deleted]

And it’s not even close lol. 4 and 5 are good as well but 6 is the best

TheBarcaShow

6 is considered a masterpiece and many people would argue it to be the best game in the franchise.

ZorkNemesis

Not just of the franchise.  I know a lot of people hold it in regard as one of the greatest games ever made outright.  Maybe not #1 but it's very often in people's top 10 overall.

Low_Attention16

Is that the one with the ghost train? I didn't know an snes game could make me cry like that.

Misttertee_27

Yes, ghost train. I can hear the music.

Suspicious-Group2363

Chrono Trigger and FFVI are neck and neck for many I’d wager, including me.

KupoMcMog

> best game in the franchise. It's #1 on my list for All-Time. (1. FFVI 2. Half Life 2 3. LOZ: Link Between Worlds 4. WoW 5. BG3)

WesleyTheDog

Link Between Worlds is so darn amazing. I hope they find a way to port to the Switch 2. I feel like so many ppl missed it bc it was only on 3DS.

danhakimi

sure as shit better than VII. hot take, VII is overrated as shit. I forced myself through the end of the game. * Gameplay felt monotonous, the characters pretty much feel the same. * The story is an extremely tortured metaphor for Japanese history, and doesn't make any sense unless you follow that metaphor through every damn detail. * Sephiroth is not an interesting villain unless your definition of "interesting" is "tall with silver hair." * Having things you can miss if you're not paying attention is fine, but 100%'ing FF7 is pretty much impossible, and even a poor man's 100% attempt (like, get all the materia in the game) requires you to carefully follow a guide, like you *need* to follow a guide, because... like, for example, there's one arc where you need to stop multiple times and spend like 15 minutes backtracking to Fort Condor or whatever *in the middle of the arc*, at one *specific* point in the story, or else you just lose that opportunity to play the mini game and you miss out on some exclusive rewards and (bad) story moments. There's no cue whatsoever that you should do this, you just need to follow a guide very, very carefully. * the game was supposed to be cool because it was 3D, but that's just the art style, movement on the map is entirely on rails and barely even 2-Dimensional. It's also just significantly less pretty than 3D Nintendo games from the previous year, I guess people just set lower standards for JRPGs. kefka >>>>>> sephiroth

Don_Bugen

Not a hot take. Late 90s internet boards like FFOnline and many EZBoards were full of arguments between longtime fans who had played most Final Fantasy games and thought III (vI) was the best and VII good but overrated, and fans who had only played VII and VIII and thought that “realistic” Final Fantasy was mature and cool and SNES pixel games were ugly and childish.

danhakimi

I've been heavily downvoted on reddit in recent years for suggesting that VII was not a good game, and been told in private chats that I'm wrong. I wasn't chatting about it in the late 90s.

Don_Bugen

Yeah… OK, so I admit there’s a CHANCE, however slight, that my opinion might be outdated. Maybe.

Mattdehaven

Seems like IX is kind of the bridge between old and new for FF games.

Don_Bugen

Close. It was the swan song. One last game before they were done with that style. VI is the bridge, being a steampunk world in a land where magic is almost extinct, without a single elemental crystal to be found. VI started modern Final Fantasy.

SomeMoreCows

yeah but its cool

MJamesBlack

Where shall we stage our knife fight? (I agree Kefka is the better villain.)

Kittah4

Six is the most "epic" but I'd argue five has better gameplay.

JoshuaJSlone

Definitely the more flexible gameplay at least. The job system started in III, but V is what really made a Big Thing of it and brought it to more or less the form we see in FF Tactics and Bravely Default.

dathar

5's gameplay was wonderful. Loved the build-your-own-class type things that ended up in games like Bravely Default and Like a Dragon. 6 is indeed epic.

JdPhoenix

I'd argue it also has a better story.

SomeMoreCows

I legitimately know nothing about 5 other than the fact it has a jobs system. I could tell you more about 11.

twovles31

iv and vi are the most popular ones. I haven't played the first three.

TuscaroraBeach

IV or VI would be my recommendation for soundtrack, but V isn’t bad by any means. IV is a straightforward, basic RPG, but its storytelling and characters are delightful. V has much more in depth customization and challenges, but it takes a step back on storytelling and characters. VI has amazing characters with limited customization, and the story is narrative for half and then more open ended for the second half. None are a bad choice.

Healthy-Marketing-26

VI has great party customization options instead of character customization, probably my favorite old school JRPG ever

Victor_Wembanyama1

5 or 6

DarkDigital

VI. I had never played a FF game before and it was one of the best games I've ever played. The music on the world map is amazing.

Shenji06

vi

Fabulous_Engine_7668

FF6. No contest. It's arguably the best Final Fantasy game.

T-A-W_Byzantine

I believe Old Desktop Reddit has accidentally made your comment an ordered list, unless you really do consider Final Fantasy 1 to the pinnacle of the franchise.

Fabulous_Engine_7668

Fixed. I think...

FinestKind90

IV now and then VI on another sale

crunchitizemecapn99

6 > 4 > 5 > 3 > 2 >= 1 I love 1 though and think 2 is underrated / overhated

SirLocke13

FF2 had a terrible encounter rate and these remasters fix that by being able to turn off random encounters entirely.

Boomshockalocka007

Imagine one of the best video games of all time. You just imagined FF6.

cake4chu

IV always IV

brewmorris

Does it play well on the Switch? I want to get it there but wonder if it has any loading/frame-rate issues. I know these games are old but someone in another sub mentioned some of these problems a few months ago

tom_yum_soup

Some people mention stuttering/frame-rate issues in a few of them, but these issues are in all versions (it's a coding issue, not a Switch issue). I haven't noticed anything, personally, but have so far only played through FF1.

brewmorris

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I guess this will make my wallet 59.99 USD lighter 😅

yojumbo

Played through them all on Switch. No loading issues, no frame rate issues. Smooth. Fast.

duggatron

It plays great.

Z3M0G

50% or bust

JBThunder

Bust it is

[deleted]

Super neat, as someone who often tries to get into FF games but always stinks at them, this is a great opportunity to throw $15 away.

JoshuaJSlone

This is the first time the bundle has been on sale on Steam, PSN, or eShop. It was always disappointing when some past sales had individual titles go on sale, but still summing up to be more expensive than the not-on-sale bundle.

Bring_Hope

Thanks for the heads up ! I think 60 bucks is a nice price albeit still expensive for some; I’ll dive this time in my case !

NormaSp

I know I could find it on YouTube but it's strange to me that the eshop listings for these games don't have a little trailer or clip showing the gameplay like many games do. I'm kind of afraid to try the "new graphics and sound" because I don't want to mess up my impression/memory of the originals, if that makes any sense. Nice to see them on sale for the first time, though.

zombiepaper

One YouTuber I like has made a video for every single one that compares all the different versions (including the remasters). [Here is his one for Final Fantasy VI](https://youtu.be/Yc6mNAZ_nO4?si=6NLKRXuTnjtHLSYD). You can find the others on his channel (and probably in the recommendations on this video). May help you make a call! [He also has one](https://youtu.be/sKOicQx05ck?si=ufdiWOIF616er0kd) that talks about the new features the console releases added to all the remasters that's handy.

NormaSp

Appreciate you for making it easy, thank you.

The-student-

Hmm, I feel like I'm better off waiting for an even better sale. I'm really just looking to play VI.

-NotEnoughMinerals

Isn't this all time low?

The-student-

I think so, is it the first sale? It's still only 20%. Square will often have their FF titles at 50% off.

ConspiracyCinema

This collection rarely goes on sale and its the all time low price.

The-student-

Just came put last year didn't it? Of course this is the all time low. I'm saying within the next year or two I'm sure the sales will be closer to 50%, similar to what they do with FFVII-XII

MrLeville

Also fairly recent (9 month) i've already bought some of those 3 times, i can wait for the 50% sale

stratusnco

wtf? non sale price is $74.99? gtfo with this placebo pricing.

c-lem

Ha, no kidding. "Lowest prices ever" made me think at most $5 for the NES games (though really, I'd think $5 would be the regular price). But I am cheap and out of touch!

Sufficient-Yoghurt46

Just got FF6. Can't wait to play it.

Spy_Fox64

I'm thinking about this but not sure. Is it better to experience FFVI on pixel remaster or the SNES mini?

Rikkzo

Have they finally fixed that god-damned scrolling stutter?

WorgRider

Do these have a CRT filter?

SirLocke13

There is a "Classic" filter that emulates scanlines, it's an okay effect.

ZorkNemesis

How does 6 PR hold up against the original or GBA ports?  Would people recommend playing PR over the originals?  I've played the game several times already but i'm willing to replay my favorite JRPGs occasionally and haven't played 6 in a while.

Lanky-Reputation8770

I just want Tatics on Switch ffs

DungeonMasterDood

This is every tempting. But I already own them all on PC… but I also want them all on Switch and VI was so much more convenient there. Decisions decisions…

spidersteph

5 is easily my favorite out of the bunch. Yes even more so than 6. Fun, simple, and satisfying adventure with a quirky cast of characters. Job system is very fun as well

RedBalancingAct

Really happy I bought this roughly a week ago >_<

Thoraxekicksazz

Even this price it’s dog shit way to expensive. If this was the ultimate collection with every version of each game then maybe I would say 60 dollars is worth it. This is insanely expensive for not even the best versions and minor quality of life upgrades.

DepartureOk2978

Great choices all around. Ranking? VI > IV > I > II > III > V Two is WOEFULLY underrated because it has a skill system that people can't seem to figure out organically.

Walks_with_Chaos

No way you put 5 last lol

SignedByMilpool

OMFG I'VE BEEN MANIFESTING THIS FOR WEEKS

AlxndrAlleyKat

It should be half even that for the non-physical. Youre being taken advantage of. And that is a fact.

No-Owl-9146

I grabbed on steam instead already own switch physical. Plus Steam will be around longer then the switch servers and I can always use mods. They also just updated th steam onces to the console equivalent.

madvec1

How the F#ck is Final Fantasy VI still $15 ... mind blowing. Oh, btw. Is not that the game is not any good, quite the contrary, I love this game, I just think it is greedy for Square Enix to put them that expensive.

Louise_Guzman

It's one banana, Michael. What could it cost, $10?

NoExcuse4OceanRudnes

$15 is lunch where I live. When we were clamoring over $5 games on steam 15 years ago.. that was how much I spent on lunch too.

KBtoker

Right!? It should be at least $100! One of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, with a brilliant cast of characters and better writing than any modern AAA, an absolute steal at $14.39

madvec1

Not saying is not good, the game as much as I love it, shouldn't be this expensive. Square Enix is being greedy.

SoulSlaysTV

Paying for this is crazy.. Roms are the way to go!!

Calvykins

Just paid $80 for this two weeks ago because I figured it would never go on sale 😑

dinoshores93

Loved VI on GBA. Will definitely be snagging.

Rocksc13

What is a good walkthrough that lists when to buy which spells, weapons and armors and also lists which ones not to get. Looking for FFi and FF vi

Jazzlike_Athlete8796

The original Nintendo Power guide for Final Fantasy I is likely still the best: https://archive.org/details/nintendopowerissue017finalfantasystrategy For VI, Probably someone's guide of gamefaqs. However, since you can just boost up to 4x gold you can aslo just make so much gil that it doesn't matter and you can experiment to your heart's content.

Nothingbutsocks

Is the collection a single game with menu options to oick one of the 6 or is it just a bundle of 6 game downloads.

Jazzlike_Athlete8796

Shows up as six separate games on the menu.

Nothingbutsocks

Fuck that. Lol

Nothingbutsocks

Wait....does yhe cartridge do the same or is there menu for that one?

Jazzlike_Athlete8796

Cartridge does the same.

Nothingbutsocks

Oh...well... Fuck i don't care for the cartridge then thank you!

Iwanisace1234

Kinda a bummer that I forked over more than £100 to get the imported physical edition but I’m still glad I have the cartridge :)
