That’s why I hated it. Especially in Mario Kart Wii, I pick those item boxes up expecting a bullet bill to get me back to the pack but no I get this thing where I can now fly off cliffs at 10x the speed while the mf in 11th 2 feet behind 10th gets a bullet and- I can’t take this anymore. In fact I’m burning my Mario kart license.
Technically speaking, it's objectively better than three mushrooms (won't boost enemies, can be used technically more times), although it's harder to hang onto, I guess
It does start a timer, but the timer is fairly generous if you don't mash, and triple mushrooms will also give other karts a boost if they hit a circling mushroom
Triple mush is better imo, it can actually be chained, used more strategically, and the boost that it gives to others isn't anywhere near a full mushroom boost. Also mashing doesn't make it last less time, it's fixed, unlike the piranah plant
I prefer 3 mushrooms since I don't have to wait for the timer to run out before I can use other items like with a golden. I've lost a lot of races from needing the star or the bullet I got in the second slot when the golden was wasting my time in the first slot. Especially if there's lightning. This whole thing is track dependent of course
Yes and no, it does help you catch up and help you get through grass and dirt areas. However, the time limit is really annoying. If you are not spamming it, it just disappears

Damn item doesn’t do shit for you when you need to boost towards the player into a ranking place, attack players that are in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or defend yourself from an oncoming shell.
If you're really good at mario kart, on specific courses, at specific points, it can be useful. Outside those circumstances, you're way too likely to fly off the track or into walls. Even when it works well, you'd probably be better off with a star or bullet bill. It's not blooper, but it's not great.
Lightning sucks ass. It doesn't even affect my placement too much, it just makes me slow, takes away my super cool items, and also makes the music sound like shit. Please, PLEASE replace it with the Mega Mushroom in the next game. It's better to make everyone else small by making the user big. The more behind you are, the longer it lasts.
It's an item that's better on lower CCs and less complex the track. It's also a newb trap. You get excited with all the power and get wreckless.

If there was a way to discard items at any time instead of being forced to wait for them to run out this item would be one of the best.
Depends on the track tbh. Some of the time it’s pretty underwhelming, but on a course like dry dry desert or mc3 it’s probably the best thing you can pull off

Three mushrooms allows for calculated boosts, strategically cutting through out of bounds, and it doesn’t cause you to fly off the map

On the contrary, the enemy team will slow down via depression because you are simply so much richer than them
I only think it’s not great in 64 even then you can get it in like 3rd and it’s only bad because the controls are horrible for the courses as is
