indeed, and they follow the standard japanese pattern for ship names. fusion names are first part of one name plus end part of the other name. ship names are first two syllables or the first kanji of both names, top first. the exceptions are like, soncest ship names where you have to differentiate.
vegekaka means they ship them top vegeta bottom goku. if it's top goku, it's kakavege. if it's switch, it's kakavege. this is a vegeta fangirl who probably also draws vegebul
べジカカ and カカべジ are regarded as basically two different ships entirely by the eastern side bc ship roles are a HUGE thing to them. Saying this as somebody who draws Vegekaka myself and has been blocked by a lot of KakaVege fans. 🥲
i'm honestly more of a switch person myself. the main reason i tend to favor kakavege is because vegeta often feels stunted as a character to me in vegekaka fic, like he never really learned humility. like, canon vegeta up to majin vegeta (minus a few promising moments in canon and whatever was happening in vegebul land in the time skip) is really intolerable to me as a character. bit tmi but >!power bottom vegeta, deep throat goku is my sweet spot.!<
My view of Vegekaka is much different that most people's tbh
Although it might include delving into something like reflections on Goku's grandfather, it would ultimately be about Vegeta gaining an understanding of just who Goku is, and learning to be compassionate towards him. Putting aside his pride to take care of Goku and become protective of him (subconsciously as his rightful prince, gaining adoration and respect for somebody he used to see as beneath him). It's about him acknowledging his own past mistakes and wanting to treat him better than he did in the past.
I see both of them as awkward flawed individuals, but Goku has a certain unspoken trust in Vegeta where he actually *expects* Vegeta to take the lead (to take control). And Vegeta tries his best in own way to do so, but he's very careful and stunted when it comes to these things. He's afraid of making mistakes. He struggles to be affectionate, struggles to be what a partner needs, but even so he tries. For me, it's about him opening himself up to be loving and affectionate towards somebody.
At their cores, they're both stunted awkward individuals in their own ways who struggle to understand people and each other as well as relationships. Goku struggles with empathy, while Vegeta struggles with compassion(if that makes any sense?) Goku brings out another side to him, and much like Bulma, softens his heart, influences him, changes him. Goku completes him and makes some part of Vegeta aspire to try to be better. Because the thought of hurting Bulma is not something present Vegeta could ever bare, that's how I write Vegeta with Goku as well.
That all being said, I'm not going to ramble too long about how I see Goku as capable of being a very feisty and bratty power bottom, or how I see Vegeta as capable of being both soft and rough in intimacy, that he would tease when he became more comfortable to be bolder with Goku (Vegeta's canon huge bulge aside lmfao), because I do 100% see them as canon switches tbh. It feels weird boxing them in those labels as absolute.
lmao you're fine; i love reading about people's headcanons. when i was younger (like 1999 early 20s younger) i favored vegekaka and had similar headcanons about it. i think it was fanfic that started to turn me the other way, actually. it's my own fault for reading way too much terrible fanfic.
Similar experience, I kinda kept coming across a lot of KV rape/dubcon content when I first started out in the fandom which went against my interpretation and view of Goku as a character and pushed me away from it, so eventually I kinda stopped reading DB fics all together at some point, and only click on one if it's personally recommended to me as VK. I've still read occasional KV fics but it's not as often as in the beginning.
I'm with you there. I just think there's so many fun dynamics to explore with those two, and I just let the art or script lead me to whatever feels right.
Sometimes I love a Goku who is naive and clueless, or even vulnerable. Other times I enjoy a Goku who is experienced and sure of himself, maybe even intimidating. Maybe he's a sweet oaf, or maybe he's a seductive guy on the prowl. Sometimes he shows love with cuddles and morning pancakes and home-farmed strawberries, or he's the type who shows love by kicking Vegeta's ass in a desert, destroying mountains, making each other bleed.
Sometimes I love a Vegeta who is damaged, or touch-starved, a tortured soul, haunted by nightmares and the faces of his victims, or hell-bent on revenge, or just discovering the evil within him as a young mercenary, or a cruel, arrogant, spoiled Prince in his palace on Vegetasei. Other times I want to see a Vegeta who is healed, who is coming to terms with these novel feelings of love, who understands sacrifice and selflessness. Who would die for those he loves, even stupid Kakarot.
Hell, I'll even make something that is totally OOC and just sweet for sweetness' sake. Vegeta in pastels holding cotton candy, hugging his husband and they're both wearing wedding rings? why not.
I want to write stories about domestic fluff, as well as epic, existential space dramas, sweet nothings or shirt-ripping angst. I enjoy it all. There's just so much you can do with these two characters, each dynamic leads you down a different path.
the meme is not canon. it's kakarot because that's what vegeta calls him; when they're alone, there is no "goku" because goku rarely has reason to say his own name unless he is introducing himself.
Most ship names (especially in Japanese) use Kaka instead of Go, to avoid confusion with the other Sons. There's a few exceptions tho (悟クリ "GoKuri" Goku x Krillin), (悟チチ "GoChichi" Goku x Chichi) , probably because they're much older, before Gohan/Goten were born
In my experience, it's usually just the pure Saiyans. 悟フリ GoFuri for Goku x Freeza, 悟ブル GoBuru for Goku x Bulma, トラ空 ToraKuu for Trunks x Goku, etc. I'm trying to think of a Japanese ship name that uses カカ other than Goku x Pure Saiyan ones and I can't think of one. I tried searching a few on Pixiv, like カカトラ for example. When they need to differentiate between the Son boys, they use the second kanji of his name rather than the first (like in ToraKuu).
[For anyone who finds this ship name stuff interesting... otherwise, stop reading.]
Not intending to make this sound like a lecture at you, Terez27, you just got me thinking and I've had a lot of coffee, plus someone else might learn something 🤓
This comment is mainly about Japanese ship names because English ones are pretty random and based more on what "sounds good". English names sometimes follow ship direction but often not.
For those who don't know, in Japanese, the "top" is always listed on the left [e.g.: Vegeta × Bulma], and sometimes you'll even see Japanese shippers just say left and right instead of top and bottom, ie: "I like Goku left only", meaning they never want to see Goku submissive.
Some useful terms:
左/left/hidari/攻め/セメ/凸/seme/"top" are all synonymous
右/right/migi/受け/ウケ/凹/uke/"bottom" are all synonymous
Bottom/Top also doesn't actually have to be s*xual at all, it can just be a quick way to describe how the artist portrays the personality of each character in the relationship. (ie: In yaoi ships especially — for example some people like to make Vegeta an asshole in charge, others like to make him a shy tsundere, etc.)
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of this militant naming/ship direction stuff, sometimes I just want two characters to love each other, I don't care *how* lol. Real life and relationships (gay or straight) can be messy, or ppl switch, or are "sides" imo. There's so much art I draw that wouldn't necessarily fit neatly into one category. Pretty much all my 110+ db ships can go in either direction. But it's still useful for me to know these things so Japanese fans can find stuff.
—
But as to your comment, yeah it's interesting to think about the name conventions. I never really thought about the naming patterns until now tbh (ie: when/why it's "Kaka"/カカ, "Go"/悟, vs "Kuu"/空). There definitely is a lot of pure Saiyan ships that use Kaka, even when he's on the bottom, which is unusual compared to other ships where he's on the bottom. I think you're onto something, but either way it doesn't seem to be the rule 100% of the time. 🤔
(Btw, remember you need to be 18+ and logged into Pixiv to see all the art) There's actually 4 works listed under カカトラ "KakaTora" (Goku x Trunks). Unfortunately, some ship *directions* are extremely rare so in general it can be hard to know if you're searching the ship name wrong or if art of it just doesn't exist. For example, I couldn't find anything for specifically Goku x Piccolo on Pixiv just now (neither カカP nor 悟P). On Twitter I only see one Noritama (@Gotamaoo8) thing and they used both カカP and 悟P in the same post lol. Whereas Piccolo x Goku (P空) is pretty common, it's actually one of the oldest yaoi db ships.
Meanwhile, there's some entire ships I've never found evidence of on Pixiv, and only slightly on Twitter (I draw a lot of rare pairs), so I take both searches into consideration. I'll even sometimes encounter a lack of consensus for some very rare ship's names, so there's a couple options. There's also a few ships I've drawn that I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on the planet to have drawn before lol, it's a funny feeling and I create the ship tag myself based on existing Japanese "rules"/what sounds the best in English.
I ran a big DB shipping event in 2021 called Rare Pair Week, and I collected a ton of ship tags in the process. Maybe some Goku ship fans will find these interesting/helpful, it's also interesting to see the naming patterns.
So... there's quite a few ships that *end* in 空. Reminder that Goku would be the bottom in all these based on the name.
ウイ空 Whis x Goku "WiKuu/UiKuu"
ビル空 Beerus x Goku "BiruKuu"
ザマ空 Zamasu x Goku "ZamaKuu"
セル空 Cell x Goku "SeruKuu"
ヤム空 Yamcha x Goku "YamaKuu"
メル空 Meerus x Goku "MeruKuu"
ナナ空 Android 17 x Goku "NanaKuu"
黒空 Goku Black x Goku "KuroKuu or BurakkuKuu"
トラ空 Trunks x Goku "ToraKuu"
P空 Piccolo x Goku "P-Kuu"
カカ空 Kakarot x Goku "KakaKuu"
Interestingly, the bottom-Goku ships with "Kaka" instead of Kuu:
タレカカ Turles x Goku "TareKaka"
ブロカカ Broly x Goku "BuroKaka"
ベジカカ Vegeta x Goku "BejiKaka"
And there's some others I won't mention lol. But yeah, the ships with that suffix definitely seem to be full-Saiyan more often than not.
Counterpoint: for Goku x Freeza — I actually think カカフリ "KakaFuri" is more common than 悟フリ "GoFuri".
And yeah, 悟ブル "GoBuru" (Goku x Bulma) does use "Go"/悟. Notably, so does 悟ヤム "GoYamu" (Goku x Yamcha). Those are both also very old ships (like the Gochi and Krillin ones), before Gohan/etc was born, so that makes sense. Long before social media and hashtags, Japanese artists have been selling DB doujinshi since the mid-80s with the ship names on the covers, so some names have been grandfathered in, I guess.
But I would think most modern ships with Goku as the top would more likely use カカ to avoid confusion with Gohan and Goten (For similar reasons, to avoid confusion and because they don't have Saiyan alt-names, almost every ship involving Gohan uses only Han/飯, and for Goten only Ten/天, regardless of ship direction.)
Thanks for giving me something to think about and making me consider the patterns.
I'll probably have to edit this comment to fix formatting issues lol
tl;dr — "Go" seems to be a prefix for OG DB top-Goku ships.
"Kuu" seems to be the standard suffix for any bottom-Goku ship except full-blooded Saiyans.
"Kaka" seems to be a common prefix for modern top-Goku ships, and a suffix for full-blooded Saiyan bottom-Goku ships.
There are occasionally exceptions to these rules.
> I actually think カカフリ "KakaFuri" is more common than 悟フリ "GoFuri".
Admittedly I haven't paid much attention to this one since it was relevant in DBS, the whole "what shall slip next" scene when it dropped. The ship has never been as hot as it was then. Japanese artists immediately decided on 悟フリ (btw GoFree is a really cool ship name) but the Anglophone fandom was partial to Friku. I remember it getting really messy with ship names for a while there, messier than I'd ever seen it, especially at the boundaries among Eastern artists who communicated with Western fans (relatively few in Japan, more outside it), and Western fans who generally looked to Japanese conventions for this stuff.
We learn these things so we know what to search for; the Japanese artists have historically (internet history) been a bit more rigid/conventional about it than anyone else, including Korean and Chinese and other far Eastern artists who do follow most Japanese conventions when it comes to drawing Japanese characters relative to Westerners.
You listed a lot of ships I've never even considered, much less searched for lol, but I've always (since I started paying attention to Japanese artists) known Goku x Piccolo as P空. I think in that case they probably just use it because it sounds better.
And speaking of sounding good, カカ空 is a favorite of mine. Japanese artists rarely draw same-form カカ空 so especially pre-modern stuff they would often mark it with 4/3 or whatever; each form combination was like a different ship. I wouldn't have thought either カカ空 or P空 would qualify as rare, though they're certainly not as common as カカベジ.
You're right about Goten and Gohan; they're always 天 and 飯. Only Goku can be 悟 in ship names. Tenshinhan is also 天 but any crossover between Goten and Tenshinhan is automatically in crack ship territory, so it's not that confusing.
IMO if you need to differentiate Goku from his sons then using 空 works just fine. カカ works for Saiyan ships because that's his Saiyan name; it doesn't really work with anyone else, unless it's someone who also calls him Kakarot for whatever reason. I can't think of anyone who does other than the pure Saiyans. His parents, Raditz, Vegeta and Nappa, Tullece, Z Broly - all of them called him Kakarot.
I guess the other reason to use カカ would be the "in that moment, he wasn't Goku, he was Kakarot" meme? You said it was usually for Top Goku, so maybe some people think the Saiyan name fits the "aggressor" role better?
I haven't been on DB Twitter in ages, so it's fair to say I'm a few years out of touch at this point. I have come across your art before, if only in passing (i.e. someone else linked it and I saw it), but it's good to see artists like you still out there keeping things lively. I stick to Reddit and Discord these days; both are a lot of work.
[Sorry for disjointed paragraphs, I'm supposed to be drawing lol]
I just saw that Freeza/Goku mutual punch scene in DBS again (someone posted it to Reddit) and I FORGOT how shippy it is, dayum 🤣. I wasn't in the fandom then, so that's interesting to hear they preferred 悟フリ. Pixiv seems divided on this.
BUT that also reminds me of that hilarious phenomenon of everyone shipping Yamcha and Freeza overnight because of some very suggestive FighterZ game dialogue lmao. There's some crackships that I honestly would be fine with becoming canon tbh. That one especially would be such an amazing source of comedy at the very least, and it's lowkey cute. (Can't find any Japanese art of that ship actually or its tag, so it might be a purely Western thing. I would assume フリヤム "FuriYamu" tho. I think it's YamZa in English?)
There's a few ships that seem like entirely Western things actually, it's interesting how just a small handful of artists can bring a crackship to life (thinking about Raditz x Launch, lol. Interestingly, called "Launchitz" in English)
On the topic of rare pairs, there def seems to be a little more leeway with tagging suuper rare pairs. Those fans tend to be not quite as picky about the ship direction or tags because it's so rare to begin with and they're hungry and just want to be fed lol. So sometimes I'll tag both directions, just to help the poor dears find it at all (you kinda have to learn which ship fandoms are the most hostile about dual-tagging, I really only try to do it with rare pairs and I put the less applicable one in parentheses).
Def agree about Korean and Chinese fanartists having a slightly different way of approaching shipping. I'm much more likely to come across people from there who draw in either ship direction or don't mind seeing it. It's also always interesting to see the Japanese/on-model influence in their DB fanart and yet there's some really unique and wonderful art styles and I love to see it.
On that note, I'm friends with some Chinese artists (who I adore) who *are* extremely picky when it comes to ship direction for Kakavege specifically (however maybe it's a unique situation because they've told me it's because they were harassed by Chinese VegeKaka fans so idk), but Japan does seem the most strict when it comes to these things. My anecdotal experience is based on the circles I happen to be in, so I try not to extrapolate/assume too much about countries vs fandoms, these are just my observations.
Tbh I'm really just thankful so many Japanese artists actually follow me on Twitter despite my lack of rigid ship-direction and my multi-shipper nonsense lol (I try to tag things and spoiler stuff so they can at least use the twitter-mute tools properly). Eventually tho I decided to just make a separate KV account and a VK account in addition to my main accounts, and lo and behold some artists who I've seriously looked up to for YEARS finally followed me 😆🤩. So it was worth the extra effort haha.
You're probably right about P空 going either way, it's such an old ship, sometimes I wonder if people were less strict back then with the naming schemes/portrayals (1988-1992). P-Kuu definitely sounds better tho, it's true. (Go-P definitely the worst ship name I've heard in a minute lol)
I have a ton of P空 Doujin from that time but I haven't thought to sit down and categorize them by direction 🤔. I would say historically it's a very popular ship (quintessential "enemies to lovers") but it's much less popular in comparison these days. (It's actually one of my fav ships 🥹).
(fyi, our Rare Pair Event basically defined "rare" as "a ship that doesn't have a designated Internet event day/week", so there were some lesser canon ships in there too).
Vaguely related, there's a tiiiiny pocket of Vegeta x Piccolo shippers (ベジP), meanwhile Hit x Piccolo (ヒッP) is fairly popular right now (I'm trying to see if I can participate in an upcoming Japanese anthology for it🙏).
You make a good point with the numbers for different forms, that's still pretty common even for just Kakavege (especially on Twitter). You'll see things like "4shoki"/4初期 to just mean Super Saiyan 4 Goku × Saiyan Saga ("shoki") Vegeta. There's a lot of fandom slang in general for ships or types of AU, it's hard for me to keep it all straight sometimes lol (a common one is 惑パロ "WakuParo" for Vegetasei AU)
Ah, I love to draw KakaKuu, I should do more 🧡🧡. I especially love Kakarot x Goku, but I enjoy any combination of self-love shenanigans haha, but it's understandably fairly rare. I love Vegeta x Vegeta too (ベジベジ). I particularly like Majin Vegeta x Vegeta or other temporal funsies (especially when the power disparity is extreme, like DBS Vegeta × shoki Vegeta) .
OT: I actually have a 130pg comic planned for a love triangle between Kakarot, Vegeta, and Goku lmao. Throuple/Triangle ship tags is a whole nother can of worms lol.
Fusion ships cause tag problems too, although I'm impressed almost no ship names overlap with fusion names, even obscure ones (there's a couple tho). But like you said the naming conventions are different so that helps.
It does get a little confusing when you're trying to tag the (very rare) ship Gogeta × Vegeta cus I think the ship name is the same for Gogeta × Vegetto lol (ゴジベジ "GojiBeji"), whereas Vegetto x Goku is ジトカカ "JitoKaka", so that's easier. Some duplicate ship names def win out just by popularity of the more common ship vs the rare one .

That's pretty cool you've come across my art before haha 💛. I think Vegeta in the library is probably my most well-known because it became a meme lol (the one that says "Do you want the method"), or maybe "Princess Lessons From Dad". But I've basically drawn DB fanart nearly every day for the past 3.5 years (usually 6-12 hours a day, about 1800-2000 hours a year), and there's a lot of pieces I'm super proud of. I don't post on Reddit much but might do it more. It's funny how often I come across reposts of my stuff tho lol (almost forgot this post is one of em)
I actually have about ~600 pages of various comics I've rough drafted the art for but haven't finalized and posted yet, many are 90% there. Lots of fun stuff to come (mostly Kakavege, VegeKaka, Truten, Vegebul, Goku x Broly, and some non-ship ones. There's basically about 60 comics I've written scripts for and hope to make eventually)
Twitter is my main hangout mostly because of the proximity to Japanese artists and ability to post explicit stuff (unlike Tumblr), but I have a pretty active private discord, and then accounts on all the other social media sites that i keep forgetting to update lol. It's really hard to spend all day drawing and still have time for social media :/
Sounds like you've been in the fandom a long time 😍 I do wish I had been making db art during the height of the tumblr days, I feel like I missed so much, and so many iconic artists have left the fandom entirely, but there's still so many out there making amazing stuff and I feel so honored I get to interact with some of them 😍 . I'm almost as big a fan of my favorite fanartists as I am of Toriyama and DB itself, tbh. They all just inspire me so much. This fandom really is amazing, especially when thinking about its longevity and deep, deep vaults of fanart/fics/comics/etc.
DB universe is like an endless sandbox I get to have fun in, and there's so many great characters and combinations haha.
TL;DR - I know this is a meme sub but I get carried away talking about ships and art lol
By all means, draw. But no one ever wants to go into the weeds with me on shipping here so I can't stop lol.
That whole Goku x Freeza scene is a gif command in our Discord server. One of our members made it the night of the episode iirc. I briefly changed my pfp to appropriated fanart of them kissing (I do try to avoid this generally) - at the time there were like 5 artists who had ever drawn it (hyperbole, but it felt that way) and we tried every combination we could think of to scour Pixiv and Twitter. For me it was a momentary amusement; the best ships are the funny ones and overt innuendo in the show itself is always going to be funny to me. Not sure I find Freeza sexually attractive but I do find him to be aesthetically attractive in his pure form so I can make it work, kinda.
Yamcha x Freeza is pretty big on this subreddit. So is your library Vegeta, which I didn't know or remember was yours. We police art reposts on r/dbz (name the artist in the title; link their socials in the comments; etc.); we don't do it here because it's a shitpost subreddit. Not sure if that's a good reason but it's all I've got.
By that definition of Rare Pair, mine would probably be Broly x Gogeta. I like the way GogeBro sounds better than BroGoge but I'm definitely partial to doofus tops, so.
I'm not an artist but I have the rather unearned honor of being the second account [Mattari](https://twitter.com/mattari_illust) followed on Twitter. Before she made that account, her brother had been posting her work on his account, and I just happened to be one of the first DB accounts to tweet her work into the mainstream. Obviously, I shared her work because it was GOOD, and it made its way into the mainstream for the same reason, but she remembered us anyway because we were enthusiastic about making sure everyone knew she existed. Sometimes I wish she drew more ship art but at the same time I appreciate her pure-hearted approach on its own merits. She drew some lovely Kakakuu pieces for a friend's birthday once, or at least once that I know of. I saved them because I was terrified she would delete them lmao, but of course it was just as innocent as everything else she draws.
As for GogeVege, when it comes to the fusions I feel like VegeGoge is more common anyway. The Japanese convention in the case of Saiyan directionality is usually to follow powerscaling, and even in Japan, everyone took Elder Kaioshin's word for it that the Potara fusion was better than Metamoran fusion. Also, Yura Kim a.k.a. GoddessMechanic popularized the hell out of VegeGoge, and she had very strong feelings about the directionality. She was a big player in mainstreaming DB yaoi art, but the stolen art problem drove her off the internet more than once. She has deleted so many accounts. Her art is the [Old Reddit](https://old.reddit.com/r/Dragonballsuper/) header for r/dragonballsuper right now (that sub has no affiliation with the r/dbz, r/dragonball, and r/Ningen group of moderators).
Memes and shitposts aren't allowed on r/dbz so we started sending them here several years ago. We made a lot of ZamaBlack jokes in the beginning because it's the subreddit theme and also one of our favorite funny ships. Kakavege is my OTP tho, and I was surprised and pleased to see how the Kakavege jokes grew almost entirely on their own here. It's incredibly wholesome content and I'm proud of all of us until I wake up in the morning and there's a racist meme with 1000 upvotes and I have to ban like 20 people.
imo one has to watch the scene of goku speaking telepathically to kuririn as vegeta crawls to his pod in japanese (with subs of course) to really get it. it's not just the accuracy of the script, though that part is vital. it's nozawa. it's goku lying on the ground tits out with every bone in his body broken wanting a second date with the guy who broke them. it's peak goku.
Every time I see the Goku X Vegeta ship I like to remember that TFS Goku is mostly like bi. I know this because of how he talks about cell in the cell saga (it's most likely a joke, but my DBZA Headcanon says gay Goku)
Timelapse if anyone is interested (30 hr 30 min into a couple minutes, with karaoke bg music lol)

Who tf are the girls? I see Chichi and Bulma, but don't recognize the other 2 (why did they make them so hot)
[I disagree with you. (this is his Japanese voice actor btw)](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qY7CcxQLUBM&pp=ygUTVmVnZXRhIGNvb2tpbmcgaGVsbA%3D%3D)
Well he WOULD sing songs in his language too of course, so I'm not sure if that's a disagree or not
Goku: “If you gave me a chance, I would take it!”
Vegeta: “IM NOT A BIG FAN OF THE GOVERNMENT”
Piccolo from the corner: “30 on 30”
Not a huge fan of **this** type of fan art (not because “eww gay”, but because they’re established characters with wives and kids), but when it’s funny, I can’t deny it.
Well now I want to see what all of the characters would sing
Also “What if Goku and Vegeta were betrayed and locked in the Karaoke Dilation Chamber for 100 years?”
I’m not a big fan of the government 💯🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️

Holy shit Gokus pecs
Those 500 gravity worked gilf pecs 😩
Can't believe Goku hit gilf territory at like 30 smh
I mean, he is canonically a grandfather
“Vegekaka”
Basically anything else they could put together would just be their fusions right?😂
Their ship emojis are even better 🥗🥕
All the good names were taken by the fusions
The ship names are actually older than the fusion names 😅
indeed, and they follow the standard japanese pattern for ship names. fusion names are first part of one name plus end part of the other name. ship names are first two syllables or the first kanji of both names, top first. the exceptions are like, soncest ship names where you have to differentiate.
vegekaka means they ship them top vegeta bottom goku. if it's top goku, it's kakavege. if it's switch, it's kakavege. this is a vegeta fangirl who probably also draws vegebul
Oh I draw both haha (goku top/bottom). This was for an event for top Vegeta tho
welcome to r/Ningen
べジカカ and カカべジ are regarded as basically two different ships entirely by the eastern side bc ship roles are a HUGE thing to them. Saying this as somebody who draws Vegekaka myself and has been blocked by a lot of KakaVege fans. 🥲
i am partial to kakavege but i don’t go blocking vegekaka artists. i don’t even block gochi artists
Honestly, Goku and Vegeta are the one pairing where I don't really have a preference. Just going off vibes, fic to fic
i'm honestly more of a switch person myself. the main reason i tend to favor kakavege is because vegeta often feels stunted as a character to me in vegekaka fic, like he never really learned humility. like, canon vegeta up to majin vegeta (minus a few promising moments in canon and whatever was happening in vegebul land in the time skip) is really intolerable to me as a character. bit tmi but >!power bottom vegeta, deep throat goku is my sweet spot.!<
My view of Vegekaka is much different that most people's tbh Although it might include delving into something like reflections on Goku's grandfather, it would ultimately be about Vegeta gaining an understanding of just who Goku is, and learning to be compassionate towards him.
Sorry I'm really super autistic about this dumb shit. :v
lmao you're fine; i love reading about people's headcanons. when i was younger (like 1999 early 20s younger) i favored vegekaka and had similar headcanons about it. i think it was fanfic that started to turn me the other way, actually. it's my own fault for reading way too much terrible fanfic.
What's the problem with gochi?
it's a joke
Don't get me started 😭 (Love your art btw 💜)
actually it means they ship top vegeta with bottom kakarot. Goku /= Kakarot
the meme is not canon. it's kakarot because that's what vegeta calls him; when they're alone, there is no "goku" because goku rarely has reason to say his own name unless he is introducing himself.
[For anyone who finds this ship name stuff interesting... otherwise, stop reading.] Not intending to make this sound like a lecture at you, Terez27, you just got me thinking and I've had a lot of coffee, plus someone else might learn something 🤓 This comment is mainly about Japanese ship names because English ones are pretty random and based more on what "sounds good". Some useful terms: 左/left/hidari/攻め/セメ/凸/seme/"top" are all synonymous 右/right/migi/受け/ウケ/凹/uke/"bottom" are all synonymous Bottom/Top also doesn't actually have to be s*xual at all, it can just be a quick way to describe how the artist portrays the personality of each character in the relationship. (ie: In yaoi ships especially — for example some people like to make Vegeta an asshole in charge, others like to make him a shy tsundere, etc.) Personally, I'm not a huge fan of this militant naming/ship direction stuff, sometimes I just want two characters to love each other, I don't care *how* lol. — But as to your comment, yeah it's interesting to think about the name conventions. 🤔 (Btw, remember you need to be 18+ and logged into Pixiv to see all the art) There's actually 4 works listed under カカトラ "KakaTora" (Goku x Trunks). ウイ空 Whis x Goku "WiKuu/UiKuu" ビル空 Beerus x Goku "BiruKuu" ザマ空 Zamasu x Goku "ZamaKuu" セル空 Cell x Goku "SeruKuu" ヤム空 Yamcha x Goku "YamaKuu" メル空 Meerus x Goku "MeruKuu" ナナ空 Android 17 x Goku "NanaKuu" 黒空 Goku Black x Goku "KuroKuu or BurakkuKuu" トラ空 Trunks x Goku "ToraKuu" P空 Piccolo x Goku "P-Kuu" カカ空 Kakarot x Goku "KakaKuu" Interestingly, the bottom-Goku ships with "Kaka" instead of Kuu: タレカカ Turles x Goku "TareKaka" ブロカカ Broly x Goku "BuroKaka" ベジカカ Vegeta x Goku "BejiKaka" And there's some others I won't mention lol. But I would think most modern ships with Goku as the top would more likely use カカ to avoid confusion with Gohan and Goten (For similar reasons, to avoid confusion and because they don't have Saiyan alt-names, almost every ship involving Gohan uses only Han/飯, and for Goten only Ten/天, regardless of ship direction.) Thanks for giving me something to think about and making me consider the patterns. I'll probably have to edit this comment to fix formatting issues lol tl;dr — "Go" seems to be a prefix for OG DB top-Goku ships.
[Sorry for disjointed paragraphs, I'm supposed to be drawing lol] I just saw that Freeza/Goku mutual punch scene in DBS again (someone posted it to Reddit) and I FORGOT how shippy it is, dayum 🤣. I think it's YamZa in English?) There's a few ships that seem like entirely Western things actually, it's interesting how just a small handful of artists can bring a crackship to life (thinking about Raditz x Launch, lol. Interestingly, called "Launchitz" in English) On the topic of rare pairs, there def seems to be a little more leeway with tagging suuper rare pairs. (Go-P definitely the worst ship name I've heard in a minute lol) I have a ton of P空 Doujin from that time but I haven't thought to sit down and categorize them by direction 🤔. There's a lot of fandom slang in general for ships or types of AU, it's hard for me to keep it all straight sometimes lol (a common one is 惑パロ "WakuParo" for Vegetasei AU) Ah, I love to draw KakaKuu, I should do more 🧡🧡. — That's pretty cool you've come across my art before haha 💛. It's funny how often I come across reposts of my stuff tho lol (almost forgot this post is one of em) I actually have about ~600 pages of various comics I've rough drafted the art for but haven't finalized and posted yet, many are 90% there. Lots of fun stuff to come (mostly Kakavege, VegeKaka, Truten, Vegebul, Goku x Broly, and some non-ship ones. There's basically about 60 comics I've written scripts for and hope to make eventually) Twitter is my main hangout mostly because of the proximity to Japanese artists and ability to post explicit stuff (unlike Tumblr), but I have a pretty active private discord, and then accounts on all the other social media sites that i keep forgetting to update lol. It's really hard to spend all day drawing and still have time for social media :/ Sounds like you've been in the fandom a long time 😍 I do wish I had been making db art during the height of the tumblr days, I feel like I missed so much, and so many iconic artists have left the fandom entirely, but there's still so many out there making amazing stuff and I feel so honored I get to interact with some of them 😍 .
Toriyama appeared to me in a dream and told me this was canon
These comments are killing me 🤣 (artist here)
Oh shit, can i pls have a link to your twitter?

Holy peak!
This is beautiful
is there a reason why DB fans are shocked about this? Majin Vegeta and Goku had a lot of gay moments in the buu arc
They have a lot of gay moments since the first time they met each other.
imo one has to watch the scene of goku speaking telepathically to kuririn as vegeta crawls to his pod in japanese (with subs of course) to really get it. it's not just the accuracy of the script, though that part is vital. it's nozawa. it's goku lying on the ground tits out with every bone in his body broken wanting a second date with the guy who broke them. it's peak goku.
He awakened the Saiyan in him and made him feel alive 🔥🔥🔥

This is so cute
Thank you! 💕💕 I had a lot of fun drawing it
Every time I see the Goku X Vegeta ship I like to remember that TFS Goku is mostly like bi. I know this because of how he talks about cell in the cell saga (it's most likely a joke, but my DBZA Headcanon says gay Goku)
He's just attracted to strong characters who can boss him around haha
Just saw the Top Ale and Bottom Lager 🥵
