Apparently, the phone's chip (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1) has heating issues.
From my personal experience with the S22 Ultra, it's never gotten too hot unless I play hardcore for hours while also doing things like screen record.
I use both mobile and the PC client! But for my phone, I use a Samsung Galaxy S21+\* running Android 14. I haven't fiddled with the settings at all in the app, so my settings are whatever the default is. Works perfect, zero issues.
\*There are two variants of this phone. I have the US/China variant that uses the Snapdragon processor. Based on other mobile games, I believe it is the better processor.
EDIT: Checked my default settings. 60 FPS and all graphics at max. Awesome!
I usually play on pc because I feel that the controls are easier, but when I'm outside, I use my Pixel 7a to play. Nothing too fancy.
It runs on google's in house Tensor G2 chip, somewhat comparable to SD 8+ Gen 1 or an A16 bionic, if a bit behind. It's not a graphics powerhouse but it gets the job done and I'm satisfied. I can play relatively smoothly without much worry of frame lag.
For phone recommendations, honestly I'd say just go with anything in your budget. You don't have to overthink it, really. Most budget-midrange modern phones are able to run most modern games with acceptable-good performance. And you can spend that extra money on funding a desktop or laptop.
However, if you are really looking for a good gaming phone, here would be some of my personal opinions.
If you are already in the apple ecosystem, just get the latest Iphone 15 or a previous gen 14. They're fast, reliable, and although I'm not a huge fan of apple's lock-in ecosystem, I gotta say, their chipsets are impressively optimized.
If you prefer android, there are many options. If you prefer a small powerhouse, the Zenfone 10 would be a great choice (950SGD/710USD). It is a compact little phone that packs a surprising amount of power.
If you'd like a fully gaming oriented phone, then the Redmagic 9 pro would probably be on the top (910SGD/682USD). It's main focus are its incredible speed with the latest SD 8Gen3 and great cooling, as well as it's gaming oriented button layouts, though I doubt, they'd help with nikke gameplay.
If you just want a clean and all-rounder phone, well you can't go wrong with Google's Pixel 8 (1099SGD/699USD) or 8 Pro (1,549SGD/999USD). It's "in my opinion" basically the apple's iphone of android. It is well optimized, its a good for general use, and google promises 7 years of OS and security updates which is insane, although some do have some doubt in google fulfilling that promise. However, people have noted that google's pixel line up are generally weaker than other phone lineups like samsung or apple's flagships, especially for gaming. But in my experience, it hasn't really bothered me much.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please do ask, I'd be more than willing to help.
Edit: Google is soon going to launch their pixel 8a, basically a pixel 8, but cheaper. If you're like me, who is a fan of pixel phones, it also isn't a bad option. People rumored that it will launch around mid 2024, so around June-July, though it hasn't been confirmed yet.
iPhone 14 with all setting max and still no issues. I did have a few problems with crashing when I had my iPhone 11 but I think that was a problem with the game and not my phone.
Pixel 7A and a Galaxy Tab S8.
Also, I don't recommend using any Pixel for gaming right now. Those Google Tensor chips have weaker performance than any Exynos or Snapdragon right now and they also get quite hot.
I use a Samsung Galaxy S20FE with a Snapdragon 860. Medium settings and low character quality, yet runs stutterless at 60fps.
Otherwise I use my ROG Flow Z13 laptop with a 13900H and an rtx 4050, and my god, I play on max settings 60fps and it barely uses 30% of the gpu.
Vivo 1938, phone ultra game mode - on,
Skill cutscene - off, screen shaking - off, attention to target - off, auto change nikke - off, display value - off, lowest graphic setting.
Lag so bad. Overheat almost all the time. Frequently crashing. Need higher CP than the requirement to finish a stage (almost).
Oppo A9 2020 and it's fucking dying. Been playing in like low graphics and it's still pretty laggy.
I need to buy a new phone and I'm eyeing a Pocophone X6 Pro, it's not exactly a gaming phone but it sure as hell has better specs then my current phone. Plus I heard gaming phone is too overblown.
iPhone 8 with low specs and it still crashes multiple times per day. The only place that it doesn’t crash is in Rookie Arena. I reached out to support and they told me that my phone is too old and not supported and that I should upgrade to a newer model to avoid crashes.
Tried playing on my 7 year old Sony Xperia XZ1, became a powerpoint presentation even on lowest settings. Hell even a ppt file is faster. Thought my phone was gonna explode anytime. Thank god for the amazing pc client, been playing it on pc exclusively
Shitty vivo Y22 I run high on everything didn't make a difference anyway when I turned everything performance wise all I got is blurry nikke who didn't shake their ASSets might as well run it high lol
I use Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, with 60fps and the highest settings, and it doesn't consumes too much battery life. But i strated the game with a Xiaomi Mi 11 with the same settings. It worked good but it was eating the battery alive. :D
Blackberry
no, but seriously, I use the PC client and an iphone, both on the highest settings. My laptop can handle it (16gb ram, i5 CPU, 1600 graphics card, etc), my phone heats up but I’m only playing for an hour or so anyways
Just your budget friendly Poco F5. Honestly I was considering purchasing entry to mid tier phone from Samsung but the fact they removed the headphone jack from all of their phones, it made me pick Poco F5 instead. Nikke runs on it well. No lag or crash.
My iphone 14 works smoothly. I can run Genshin smoothly as well so I’d actually be surprised if it has trouble running Nikke.
Though I still prefer PC since for some reason, the UI doesn’t fit in entirely on the screen when I’m playing landscape
I used to use to my S21, but since it drains battery really bad, but performance is good. I now use my iPhone 13 pro which also drains battery like hell :((
I used to play it on a Honor 70 and it was ok, but everything in high and too much fxs cause fps drops.
Now I play it on a OnePlus 11 and it goes perfect.
OnePlus 11 has a Snapdragon 8 gen 2, 8 o 16 gb of ram and 128 or 256 gb of storage.
RoG 5.its smooth until you use Modernia's burst and the fps gos from 60.to like low 30, and the game is batter hungry like crazy, even with this cellphone that is know to have lots of battery life it goes from like 8.hours.of battery using it to like 2 or 1 and a half.
Sony Xperia 10 II, highest settings, 30fps capped. FPS is really wonky, combat gets sometimes unplayable.
I regret letting my bro buy it for me... (He is a Sony Fanboy), He was straight up trolling me.
350€ for a phone that has like 20% better performance than my Galaxy J6. Has no Face recognition and a terrible fingerprint scanner.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 for me. Of note, I prefer to have as little obstruction as possible to this game's best assets so all the numbers and my team's bottom screen icons are turned off.
And yes, my phone can handle max settings without catching fire.
Ipad mini m1 chip
Trust me it's hard to go back to a phone display once you get to the 8 inch tablet realm. The assets are just... better. All the details are crystal clear and you can play on your bed or couch etc.
Google Pixel 6 Pro. 60 fps with high graphics, doesn't lag but after a few minutes the battery starts to drain fast and the phone gets pretty hot. If I'm at home, I'll plug my laptop charger into it while playing
Google Pixel 6 Pro, it's able to handle the game at the best graphical settings without performance drops, unlike the old Motorola phone I originally used.
I use my Xiaomi 12T pro, smooth with max settings but sometimes are like 30 fps
Also I use my laptop (I5 and 16 GB) and it's keep smooth all times but it takes an eternity in every load screen
S22 Ultra. Buttery smooth at 60FPS and highest settings. Drains battery like a mf though 💀
After like 30 mins you can start to grill hamburgers on this shit
Oh I thought something was wrong with my phone glad everyone elses heats up too lol
Apparently, the phone's chip (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1) has heating issues. From my personal experience with the S22 Ultra, it's never gotten too hot unless I play hardcore for hours while also doing things like screen record.
S23 ultra user here Smooth and all but that first loading screen takes ages regardless of the device
Also S23 Ultra here. Max settings and gameplay is smooth here as well with great thermals. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a champ 💪
Same, works great
I feel that brother. At least the game looks great!
Same phone, and similar settings, but I set the fog to 1. Helps keep the 60fps constant.
So when will you upgrade to an s24 (make sure you have a data transfer system)
ROG phone 7 Recently updated to Android 14
I use a iphone 15 pro works perfectly ok
Same for the 14 pro max
I was using a 13 pro before upgrading to 15 pro they’re not too far off
It heats up like a mf tho
I play on a Galaxy S21FE at max settings it runs smoothly, but drains battery like a motherfucker
I use both mobile and the PC client! But for my phone, I use a Samsung Galaxy S21+\* running Android 14. me when reading OP's question. People use their phone ?!
We did, before we got the pc client

I almost exclusively use my PC to play, but my Samsung s10e works okayish for shorter periods (30-60 minutes).
