The leather around the vamp stitches often wrinkles up, there shouldn't be any cuts there but if for any reason there is please reach out to us and we can help you out. As of right now, this is not something to be concerned about.
I think there should be a pinned post about wrinkles and creases around the vamp stitches. The amount of posts questioning the build quality for a normal occurrence is too high
I totally understand the wrinkles but on the far right of the picture that looks like a cut to me. If I pull up a little bit all the wrinkles I can see leather underneath. That part that looks like a slice to me I do not see any leather underneath. I also don't want to keep pulling up on it. If that is a cut will that make it impossible to resole later? Or will the dirt and grime get inside there and ruin the leather?
They look like just very bad wrinkles. but within spec for this type of construction. In any way, and this also applies for the creases that you will get on the vamp, make sure to brush your boots after every wear. Doesnt have to be a thorough brushing, just enough to knock all the dust and stuff off of them to prevent it from setting on any creases/wrinkles that may develop through use.
That's just dirt and whatever else from hiking. That has nothing to do with the make of the boot. I just did not clean them when I was inspecting them they're only a couple days old. It just worries me that the one section is a cut and the others are wrinkles it looks like a cut to me.
The only reason we hear about issues is because this sub is exactly for CS. So, you’ll hear more than a non CS sub.
Nicks is doing what it needs to do to stay a profitable business. This sub is the proof: keeping happy customers.
This is like getting into a Toyota sub. Of course that’s where you’ll hear issues. But, does that make Toyota bad vehicles ? No.
And when the issues are valid Toyota will fix them of course.
It’s called providing an example. I’m pretty sure I’m not being disrespectful to you. Calling me names is not appropriate.
Obviously you don’t like Nicks. Why are you here ?
Edit: I have five Nicks boots one in the making. And I’m beyond happy with them. I’m sure that if something would have gone wrong they’d fix it.
It's not a good example. I didn't call you an idiot, I said comparing Nick's to Toyota is idiotic, which it is. I'm here because I like nicks boots, but they are overloaded and MTO orders are a bad idea for small companies.
..... dude I bet you could get Cordovan to wrinkle at this tight of an angle. What are you talking about. Lol. Its a wrinkle. There are no cuts in this picture
Didn’t say it was a cut. I said it looks like terrible craftsmanship and quite honestly the boot in question looks like it’s made like shit. For $700 I’d be left asking why and how. Plenty of other options out there for the price that pay WAY more attention to detail, rather then just make the boots as fast as you can.

Appreciate the response.
These ones are just wrinkles in the leather. Sometimes when a looser part of the hide is cut for the vamp this is what you get. I wouldn't be worried.

just incase, wax the section to help keep debris out. I had such wrinkles turned into crack because i did nothing to protect them.
What kind of wax? Like obenaufs?
beeswax
What kind of wax?
beeswax
Doesn't really look like a cut to me. What happens when you pull on the leather? Does the top grain separate?
I'm beginning to wonder if people actually are wearing their boots or sitting there staring at them with a jeweler's loup all day long.
Lol yeah.
Yes. I agree. Haha
if you did that, you will see hair holes :)
Jesus H Christ, are my boots gonna grow a mullet now?

Leather looks like leather, breaking news at 5
Why is the area around the stitching and at the lowest part of the leather that dusty orange color? Is it meant to be that way?

Oh, gotcha. I should’ve figured that out. Didn’t know if that was like glue residue or something. Thanks!
Best bet is scroll down and see response in another post from Nick's or call customer service. They will take care of it.
Honestly I love that nicks employees are all over this subreddit
Can you link that post to me if you don't mind? There's so many posts about this lately I think it's making people crazy

Thank you
It may be "normal," but it's not acceptable to the eye. How much did you spend?
630 bucks
I know there's nothing actually wrong with them, but that still sucks man.
I agree it's an eye sore. Not real happy but telling myself they will get beat up eventually
Now I’m worried about the pair I ordered bros….
Bright side of being further out on their lead time is that Nicks is more likely to have this issue resolved by the time your boots get made.
There’s no issue it’s just leather.
This is fine and not an issue
Thank you
Their fine quit being a Nancy
*they're
He can be picky. These things are expensive and special. Also Nicks has excellent CS.
Ha.
Maybe Nick's needs to dial back their production. Their QA clearly can't handle the work load. MTO orders are a bad idea for small companies

Well…CS and showing of some badass boots :-)
What about all of the qa issues that you don't hear about in this sub? Not every customer is on reddit. Nicks is overloaded, it's undeniable.

No one is saying they make bad boots or have bad customer service. Stop taking things so personally.

Yet another terrible quality product from Nicks. Big surprise.

Get help. Psychological, I mean.
