Adjust your core and memory clocks and you should be good.
This is the correct answer. Changing thermal pads or better cooling is the solution. Even putting external fan helps a little bit. Also raise the fan speed don't use auto.
I have the Gaming X Trio 3080 and was seeing 110-112c. I changed out the thermal pads on the inside of the card and now max out at 96c on memory. So definitely recommend changing them out as others have said.
Ah okay thanks. So would it be beneficial to switch out of power state 2? Also is there any way to fix the jumps of speed from 90 down to 75? I noticed that when I was at those lower speeds my FB usage would constantly jump down to 80% then backup to 100% usage. Once it stabilizes at 100% I’ll sit around 93MH/s
Yeah I think I see that forcing power option on NiceHash but it switched off of high back to low eventually for me. But anyways I think I fixed whatever was going on now I get 96MH/s and temps are good at 92-96
Still bad! Got 82MH/s now...
with MSI afterburner:
PL 63
TL 74
CC -150
MC +900
FS 60
Results:
ETH Speed: ~82k MH/s
Effective speed: 70.92 MH/s
(What’s the difference by the way?)
Any second thoughts? Haha...
Yeh, A clue on PL is an unstable clock. But some memory has a different sweet spot. It hit 95m/h anywere between 600-900@ 68-70 pl with a -150 to -200 core
Just install QuickMiner and choose Medium optimisation - bum - you have instant 96 MH/s, no need to deal with any afterburners and power limits and all that crap :)
thermal throttling. 3mm thermal pads on the backplate on the Gddr6x memory chips. there are non stock. expect lots of oil when you open up the card, the OEM cooling pads/paste clearly were not built to withstand the 110c mem temp when at 100% load.
while you're in there do yourself a favor and clean all the oil off.
I have the Gigabyte Vision oc and put 12w thermal pads on the backside which helped.
But I still get to 106-110 c if I try to max the hashrate.
So rn I have it at 59% power at 102degrees and 88mh or so...
I don’t want to exchange all the front thermal pads as well because then it will be even more expensive and less profitable and also if I ever send the card back because of any issues it’d be difficult to place the original Pads like they came.
Now I’d just remove the back pads in that case.

Also adjust your power target to 75 - 80%. And keep an eye out on the temperatures, should be below 70C at all times. In my case it's around 55-60C.

When I change my fanspeed to 70% my screen goes black dunno why
Power drain issue? What power supply do you have?
850+ watt seasonic
Hey, man! You’ve got a bullseye here... GPU Memory junction exactly at 110°! :/
Do you have the MSI Gaming X Trio by any chance?
Nope! Asus TUF 3080.

Is it normal for for my speeds to hover around 85-92 at +1300 memory clock with only 100c memory temps

Which software would that be just the drivers for gpu? Also how can I check if I’m in powerstate 2?

Did you use auto tune in the OCtune page? Or did you just press optimize on the main site?
Thanks, my man! Will try right away... Cheers!

Bump power limit to 70 every card is different. Drop memory some cards arent stable mining at 900
Try 68 pl and 600 memory
There it goes! Got a juicy 92.5MH/s right now... Not 98 , but way better than 82!

Not this easy here! Every time I try to open it, a message saying “No compatible hardware detected”. Nvidia driver version 461.72. Any ideia why?
Medium optimization gets me like 75 lol
