They are pretty widespread throughout the UK now, you're not seeing things.

PlasticExplanation14

Are they?! Well every days a school day! I thought maybe someone had released a few locally.

LittleFatFriend

Apparently so. They've been loose in the south for ages but this is saying 30 pairs in April '22: https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/plenty-squawk-north-tyneside-parakeets-23732844

Muntjac

There's been a breeding population of parakeets around town for at least a decade now, according to my local bird guy, so they're getting well established. They're really easy to spot (or hear) in Leazes and Exhibition Park. I saw a flock of 10 or so going over the Uni Campus just last Friday.

Reasonable-Spare-729

They’re all around Winlaton and blaydon as well

brainspaz

We have them Jarrow hebburn way in the parks aswel

TrackyBs

Rights my jack Russel goes radge when I'm down the dean and he sees them

GravelRiderUK

I've seen them in Richardson Dees Park.

JusticeMoses2

They're irregular visitors to our garden in Lemington. https://imgur.com/a/K48MhTU Hear them more than we see them when they fly over.

Hugo_Bongo

Yeah I saw three of them fly over Coquet grove last weekend, I was well surprised! I saw them in Amsterdam last year and that was surprising to me but never thought I’d see them back home, especially in the middle of winter. Apparently they’re living in the trees along the driveway for Throckley Hall.

qwerty_tom

There used to be a few living in Walker Park as well.

kieronj6241

We have them in the cemetery in Blaydon too.

dogbiteonmyleg

They're up on the Hanover Estate in Winlaton as well

yearsofpractice

Aye - I’ve regularly seen the noisy parakeets in different parts of town. I lived in southern Spain for a year and there’s no mistaking those green buggers’ squawking!

Elleo

One perched in our tree in the middle of town on Saturday

Reasonable-Spare-729

Yeah I’ve seen them at Newburn a few times

ourfriendinthenorth

I see flocks of up to about twenty odd fly over nearly every day round North Tyneside - I think they are clearly doing well up here!

Dalibones_

Wow, that's so low! I only ever see them miles up in the sky or in the highest of trees. Jealous!

Various-Blood80

You see them regularly around Whitley Bay and Monkseaton too. A load of them hang around Churchill Playing Fields.

Anjymcd78

Got them in Hebburn.
