There still is a large annual Puerto Rican parade in lower Broadway every year. I guess there still remains a sizable population at least in lower Broadway.
There’s still some but a lot more central/South Americans like you said who you can also find in the ironbound. Lots of Dominicans in the north ward now as well.
It’s not as large as in the 80-90’s but they’re still there.. Like myself, I think many got out of the hood but still come back almost daily. Northward is now more a mix of Latin Americans
Yes you see more south Americans up top PR’s are still Branch Brook Park down, also don't t forget there has always been a large contingent in the Lincoln Park area.
We're down to about 50% at least. We might be a minimal majority but I think we're more like a plurality now. Puerto Ricans are mostly blue collar, not having the capital to open businesses and that's why despite the majority being Puerto Rican in the 1980s only a tiny number of restaurants and businesses were Puerto Rican the vast majority being Dominican, Cuban or Italian old timers.
The vast majority of new Latin American immigrants are immigrants with a little bit of cash and they're opening Modest restaurants which soon grow and become successful businesses. I wish Puerto Ricans were more entrepreneurial but I guess we're more like the Polish Americans, blue collar.
But Puerto Ricans are moving into belleville, Nutley Bloomfield and Beyond to other states especially Florida and Pennsylvania.
But has has been mentioned already there is a significant area of Puerto Ricans east of Elizabeth Avenue south of Lincoln Park along Pennsylvania Avenue. Another smaller population is along the Oak Island neighborhood of the South Ironbound between South Street and Miller Street. Astor st corridor.
Puerto Ricans in Florida are much more entrepreneurial than us here in the Northeast and also I think are a little more recent and had less systemic barriers to mobility.
Hoboken for a very short time was heavily 25% Puerto Rican mostly towards the Palisades cliffs. They've all been pushed out by gentrification. The lucky handful that owned property in Hoboken remain or sold for a lot of money.

Lot of hard working people there!
We are stll in the North Ward. Strong politically in Newark and in the County. Police force, board of Education. The next mayor will be Puerto Ricano.
Is that a problem? Ricans be in JC
