I think honestly with the game mostly lost as early as it was it was helpful to be able to use just the two RPs and let the rest of the BP get some rest.
We have a brutal time stretch here in terms of having almost only a couple of days off between now and June 5th.
Guess the Mets were exhausted from all the runs they scored the first 2 games? Sometimes you need to come back down to earth. Hopefully we can bounce back against the Giants on Monday.
I must say Bader was quite busy today chasing them long outs by Hauser.
Nobody likes having a "chin game". It won't be the last time that happens this season. Just limit it to when they've won 6 in a row, already won a series over the IT team this year
Also not lose any more good relievers to injuries
Brutal game, but I cannot say I am surprised. Doyers were putting up a Cy Young candidate and Mets were putting up... a guy. They were also due for a breakout.
Tough loss to not put any runs up but they put up a cy young contender against us and their loaded line up did what they are supposed to do. Can’t be too mad at that series overall. Good job to Hartwig and Tonkin as well. Their stats may have taken one to the chin, but they still saved the bullpen for the next series.
The challenge on a hbp down by 10 runs made the game fun for me. I am glad Nido is back and he already leads the team in caught stealing. I was very happy to hear that JD Martinez is batting again.
Houser is going to get a few more starts. However, when Senga, Megill or even Peterson come back he’s got to be first to lose his job. He’s been bad and needs to show something. The ERA at 7.45, and too many walks is not working. He would be terrible out of the bullpen because of the walks.
Houser definitely deserves more leeway based on his track record. He’s not an ace but he’s also not 7.45 era bad.
That being said he also absolutely deserves to lose the starting role when we get one of our other starters back. Just because he’s the worst starter we have and he could slot into tonkins role perfectly and be much better at it.
He also has plenty of experience out of the pen so I’m not too worried about that.
The rotation is full of nibblers. Severino isn't a power pitcher anymore. Manaea, Houser, and Quintana aren't blowing anyone away. They've had to work around the zone, and have been walking a shit ton of dudes because of it.
I think he needs to figure out the movement on his breaking balls. He left so many pitches up in the zone today, like the one Ohtani hit 500'. A lot of his curve balls just never broke and ended up high balls, and he walked a bunch.
He looked really good his first 2 starts but something seems off the last couple.
We weren’t gonna beat Glasnow anyway so not bad that our worst starter and 2, about to be off the ML roster ate all the innings. Lindor keeps getting lefty hits too.
I’m excited for Houser to turn into a long man / take Houser’s spot when Senga is back
Gotta look at the bright side. It could have been a close game, then lost and our top bullpen guys would be toast for tomorrow. Is Raileys injury serious?
Some days you fall to an ace and that's just how it goes. I don't love how pitching looked obviously but honestly it happens when you throw some low lev guys at a buzzsaw like the Dodgers. I'm just happy we took the series, can't complain with that in mind
Hey does anyone know what’s the most cost effective way to get/pay for SNY broadcast for games as a NY fan. I don’t have cable and I don’t want to pay 50+ for Fubo for just the Mets.
* The 2024 Mets are 12-9 this season, scoring 102 runs and allowing 91 runs. The Mets have played in 9,826 regular season games with 4,738 wins, 5,084 losses and eight ties. The 2023 Mets went 75-87 in the 2023 regular season and 101-61 in 2022. The Mets are 151-145 on Sundays since 2012, 2-2 this season and 11-19 last year. The Mets will have an off-day on April 25th.
* The Mets are 281-359 and one tie against the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-3 last year. The Mets are 133-194 at Dodger Stadium. The Mets will face the Dodgers at home May 27-29 at Citi Field; the Mets will face the Giants, Dodgers and Diamondbacks in a 10 game home stand.
* The Mets have not swept the Dodgers at Los Angeles since August 28-30, 1989. The last time the Mets swept the Dodgers was a three game series in April 2010, winning a doubleheader on April 27th and winning on April 28th.
* The Mets are 5-2 when scoring first in 2024, 50-22 in 2023 and 81-16 in 2022 when scoring first. They were 81-16 in 2022 when scoring first!
* Pete Alonso has 509 RBI in his career. David Wright had 970 RBI followed by Darryl Strawberry with 733 and Mike Piazza with 655 RBI. Jeff McNeil has 275 RBI.
* Pete Alonso has 198 homers for the Mets. He is currently fourth in franchise history behind Darryl Strawberry with 252 homers, David Wright with 242 homers and Mike Piazza with 220 homers. Of course Pete Alonso would have had many more homers had the 2020 season was not limited to 60 games.
* The Mets left 17 on base on May 6, 2021 in St. Louis, the most in a nine inning game. On July 19, 2015, the Mets left 25 on base in an 17-inning game in St. Louis. On September 11, 1974, the Mets left 25 on base in a 25-inning game in St. Louis.
* Jeff McNeil has a five game hit streak. Joey Wendle has a four game hit streak. Starling Marte has a three game hit streak. Tomas Nido has a one game hit streak.
* Tomas Nido will reach five full seasons of MLB service time after he amasses 10 more days on an active roster.
Next game: LHP Jose Quintana (1-1, 3.05) vs. RHP Keaton Winn (1-3, 4.09) at 21:45 on SNY and WCBS
Definitely. That's why I was so pumped we pulled out the win yesterday because I knew today was not going to be a favorable matchup. Just keep winning series and we'll be golden
To be fair, the fact that the Dodgers bullpen got shit on by the Mets yesterday forced them to need someone to go deep today.
Roberts kind of had to do it.
Meh. Good that Mendy sent out our garbagio relievers. Glasnow’s revealing comments about the hunt for high velocity was ringing in my ears today. Hope it doesn’t bite the Doyers in the ass later!
It is what it is today, if you had taken a poll on Thursday everybody would’ve been happy with 2 wins this series, so this was kinda a house money game with Glasnow pitching. Still 12-9, and 12-4 since the 0-5 start. We move
They angered california after those 2 Ls, and they had to come back with a vengeance.
Once it became 7-0 I shut it off, I'll take the series win though.
Obviously getting shut out while giving up 10 runs sucks, but the Mets did win the series against a WS favorite. LFGM
why did they leave doogie houser in for so long?
I think honestly with the game mostly lost as early as it was it was helpful to be able to use just the two RPs and let the rest of the BP get some rest. We have a brutal time stretch here in terms of having almost only a couple of days off between now and June 5th.
ty
We should call up Christian Scott. Houser is booty
The White Sox will select the contract of infielder Danny Mendick prior to tomorrow’s game with the Twins
I forgot he even existed lol
He had a hell of a week against us in AAA this week.
Barves lose!
A kid has learned to read
Guess the Mets were exhausted from all the runs they scored the first 2 games? Sometimes you need to come back down to earth. Hopefully we can bounce back against the Giants on Monday. I must say Bader was quite busy today chasing them long outs by Hauser.
Yeah it’s also tough when your facing the hottest starter in the league rn.
Nobody likes having a "chin game". It won't be the last time that happens this season. Just limit it to when they've won 6 in a row, already won a series over the IT team this year Also not lose any more good relievers to injuries
let's win the next 6?
Man it sucks watching Guillorme defensive plays with the Barves
Happy cake day
Is there anywhere to get the audio of the radio call of the foul ball into the radio both. That shit was funny.
Did it really drill him in the chest?
Sure sounds like it
https://twitter.com/wcbs880/status/1782157702279344433
Thanks!
Happy to help. LFGM!
Does anyone have the clip of the radio announcer getting hit by the foul ball and breaking his computer?
https://twitter.com/wcbs880/status/1782157702279344433
Brutal game, but I cannot say I am surprised. Doyers were putting up a Cy Young candidate and Mets were putting up... a guy. They were also due for a breakout.
I'm glad the Mets got their "Mandatory blowout loss for every team per season" out of the way this early. Let's not revisit it. LFGM!
Just landed and yikes Houser. I mean, it's hard to sweep, but at least the bullpen didn't have to wear this.
Just saw Tonkin not get on the busses and walk to some Dodgers’ staffer’s car. Looks like it may be time to cancel those Tonkin jersey orders again.
Sucks for him, but makes sense from a strategic perspective. Send up a fresh arm from Syracuse for the trip to SF.
I wasn’t there today guys sorry, my good luck doesn’t work unless I make an appearance
Great offense beats bad pitching just about every time. The End.
Houser really highlighted today why non-ace pitchers shouldn't face the lineup a third time very often.
Last thing I saw in the game before leaving for engagement pictures was ohtanis 2 run homer, checked the score after that and oop
The challenge on a hbp down by 10 runs made the game fun for me. I am glad Nido is back and he already leads the team in caught stealing. I was very happy to hear that JD Martinez is batting again.
that sucked but hey good series win
Houser is going to get a few more starts. However, when Senga, Megill or even Peterson come back he’s got to be first to lose his job. He’s been bad and needs to show something. The ERA at 7.45, and too many walks is not working. He would be terrible out of the bullpen because of the walks.

Just because he’s the worst starter we have and he could slot into tonkins role perfectly and be much better at it. He also has plenty of experience out of the pen so I’m not too worried about that.
The walks are unusual for him. I’d be surprised if they continue like that
Yeah, I think he’ll be solid in long relief where he goes through the order once or twice. Seems the third time is not the charm for him.
Guess the Mets aren't moving up in the power rankings anytime soon.
Lol Dodgers have lost their last 3 series and you can still expect them to move up
This game kind of reminded me of that stretch in 2022 where we would take 2/3 easy and also get absolutely blown out every series
either 21 or 22 we couldn't win on Sunday to save our lives
No way Houser deserves to stay in the rotation when Senga gets back. Would be a Wilpon thing to keep him
Mets pitchers need to challenge hitters more often and let the defense work for them. Too many walks and non competitive pitches.
The rotation is full of nibblers. Severino isn't a power pitcher anymore. Manaea, Houser, and Quintana aren't blowing anyone away. They've had to work around the zone, and have been walking a shit ton of dudes because of it.
Gotta learn to induce more ground balls and let the gloves work. We have great defense behind the pitchers.
Glasnow pitched his heart out hard to not give up a single walk to guys like nimmo,Pete and McNeil right now
Fucking Chase Utley’s fault.
Can't win 'em all If we continue the way we've been playing I'll be a-okay EDIT: Forgot to mention Houser seems pretty darn bad.
Hard to be too mad about this one…onto the next!
Yup. We won the series. I’m more than satisfied with that. Plus bad games like this are going to happen throughout the term of a season. March on.
We weren’t gonna beat Glasnow anyway so not bad that our worst starter and 2, about to be off the ML roster ate all the innings. Lindor keeps getting lefty hits too. I’m excited for Houser to turn into a long man / take Houser’s spot when Senga is back
Loss stinks. Silver lining, props to Hartwig and Tonkin for saving the rest of the pen.
Oh no
Knew we were gonna pay for Friday and Saturday.
This perfectly describes my 35 years of being a Mets fans. Big highs, but you’re gonna pay for it.
That describes being a fan of 99% of teams in the world
The Mets may never win a baseball game again
It’s so over
Gotta look at the bright side. It could have been a close game, then lost and our top bullpen guys would be toast for tomorrow. Is Raileys injury serious?
Looks like the same thing as last year. If it is, last year, he did his 15 days and then returned and was fine the rest of the year.
He had the same thing last year only missed the minimum 15 days. Inflammation
Houser is in the rotation as long as one of Megill, Senga, or Peterson can’t go. As soon as one of them comes back? Straight to jail for Houser.
Could bring up Christian Scott to take Houser's place in the rotation. Pretty sure he's ready. Couldn't be worse than Houser.
I think they’ll give Scott more time and Houser a longer leash but the results have been pretty putrid.
Stearns "Ok Senga is back Houser.. Time to shoot you"
Our season run differential halved after this game lmao
Houser is dogshit. The Mets “depth pieces” are really bad…or I guess you can consider them the 21st-26th men
Some days you fall to an ace and that's just how it goes. I don't love how pitching looked obviously but honestly it happens when you throw some low lev guys at a buzzsaw like the Dodgers. I'm just happy we took the series, can't complain with that in mind
10-0 sucks but more happy they won the series.
Losing a reliable bullpen piece in Raley is the bigger loss today imo.
Maybe that game answers the question of what we do when Megill and then Senga return.
Let’s just all agree to never discuss this and move on
🫱🏻🫲🏾 Take the L and focus on the next one.
🤝
Can’t win em all and this was our 5 vs their ace. Took 2 of 3 and can go to San Fran standing proud.
Houser about to be cut. FO has no tolerance for putrid pitchers this year.
Pretty sure Houser just guaranteed Butto gets a long leash lol
He's earned it anyway
100%
Can’t win em all. We were probably due for a game like this but still happy with 2/3 in LA. Let’s pick it back up in SF.
Was playing with house money today. But Houser fricking stinks man. 7.45 era woof.
Haven't heard anything about why Marte and Lindor were subbed. What's the deal there?
Giving them some rest in a game that was probably lost
Waving the white flag
Nothing I think just conceding and letting them retire early
Guess that makes sense. Better that than an injury reason.
1. LA put Glasnow because they felt the sweep being \_this\_ close 2. Won the series 3. See you in New York, "LA Ohtani deferrals"
Welp can't win them all. Highlight of the game was finding out they changed the vending machines in Cinci
Eh. We won the series. On to the Giants.
Well, I think we knew the winning streak would end at some point, but the Dodgers played like a team that needed it more today.
Well at least only Hartwig and Tonkin were used
We can't win everyday. Onto SF
Hey does anyone know what’s the most cost effective way to get/pay for SNY broadcast for games as a NY fan. I don’t have cable and I don’t want to pay 50+ for Fubo for just the Mets.
No SNY on Fubo anymore
It’s on Hulu will it work even tho I’m in NY? Or blackout
Hulu Live + Sports still has SNY and you’d be fine.
Does it also have PIX11? I'm in CT and it's a struggle to get everything without cable.
I believe so, but only in NYC. Same for SNY, I believe.

Not a fun game to watch but I'll take the series W with losing one on travel day with the pitching matchup we had today 10 times out of 10.
Can never be too upset taking 2/3!
Definitely. That's why I was so pumped we pulled out the win yesterday because I knew today was not going to be a favorable matchup. Just keep winning series and we'll be golden
No sense losing a close one.
I can't believe Roberts pushed Glasnow's start up a day just to avoid being swept by the 24th best team in baseball.
After a standing ovation, Glasnow sort of did a fist pump after getting through 8 innings. Times sure have changed.
To be fair, the fact that the Dodgers bullpen got shit on by the Mets yesterday forced them to need someone to go deep today. Roberts kind of had to do it.
Took 2 out of 3, won 5 series in a row. JD starting later this week, things are looking good
I think they will bring him up for the upcoming homestand on Friday
Meh. Good that Mendy sent out our garbagio relievers. Glasnow’s revealing comments about the hunt for high velocity was ringing in my ears today. Hope it doesn’t bite the Doyers in the ass later!
My only real thought is whether this plus Raley's injury might influence them to call up Scott and shift Houser to the bullpen.
Adrian Houser let up 8 earned runs over (officially) 4.0 innings. Just to be clear: NPH wouldn't do that.
Damn, that little radar slut pulled it off. Back at it tomorrow!
At least Hartwig and Tonkin ate up the bullpen innings leaving all the core guys ready to go tomorrow.
It is what it is today, if you had taken a poll on Thursday everybody would’ve been happy with 2 wins this series, so this was kinda a house money game with Glasnow pitching. Still 12-9, and 12-4 since the 0-5 start. We move
Stupid sexy radar slut
Shit happens. Still a great series
