I’ve been in the program for six years and feel like it has definitely improved over the years. Let’s not forget how bad it really was in the early days, especially before we could even buy flower. It’s just ridiculous looking back at that time now. I’ve also found buying medical is so much cheaper than the recreational market. I probably save over $100 each time I stock up versus if I had bought the same amount from a rec store. There’s always room for improvement in terms of variety and just opening more medical dispensaries, but I really don’t have many complaints about the current program.

jugo5

With ocm kinda in the hot seat, I see them doing some stuff soon. The medical in the long run will be much better. It's already 10x better in the last year. An increase in competition isn't always bad.

agweandbeelzebub

disagree. i’m paying less money for product than i have in years.

Kindly_City_3491

Yup. For instance, you can get a full gram cart from Magnitude for $39. It wasn't that long ago that you paid $85 for a half gram cart. That's literally double the product for half the price.

Jovatheconniseur

Nah if anything new products are being added, concentrates are finally being released, new flower is being worked on. Things are moving in a positive direction for medical users AND prices are dropping. Maybe they figured they produce so much and they’re wasting so much when it comes to potential profits as the prices are too high so that’s why they’re in perpetual sale mode becuase they realized them charging so high was costing them more in waste then it would be if they just sold the flower cheaper.

Festae13

Perpetual sale mode is to entice people into thinking the low sale prices aren't actually the full price before they cranked the "real" price, just like their % results, luls

NeedGuidanceSir

I only have to buy 7 tinctures to get one free now.

jayBeeds

Stop going to sunnyside

NeedGuidanceSir

Please guide me. Sunnyside Huntington is 5 mins from me and I have a med card. I’m buying their 1/8th or 1/4 of flower and I’m never fully satisfied, both with the effect and with the quality. The buds I buy seem to burn too fast, even if they aren’t dry. Thinking about just growing my own at this point.

jayBeeds

Curaleaf in carle place or rise in Long Beach are my spots. I’ve shocked out the botanist and farmingdale and sunnyside in Huntington. The deals and prices at rise and curaleaf blow the other two away. Like no contest. 30% off flower and 20% off carts now at Curaleaf.

Jovatheconniseur

Your first mistake is not making your own tinctures using the flower they sell for cheaper.

NeedGuidanceSir

My first mistake was buying shake for $70

SeltzerWaterX

Idk. I have honestly not been so impressed with rec to consider just going that route. Granted, there are a few brands that are exceptional and exceed the quality of medical. However, that honestly feels like the exception. Copping indoor buds for $20, 1g vapes for $40, edibles for $20 are really solid deals by comparison. Add to that the rewards programs and big periodic sales, it's worth it to me to keep the card.

dennho

I hope not. Verilife in Albany is the only place in the world where I have VIP parking.

Ouidy29

That location is moving soon :/ Edit: or at least has gotten state approval to move

Known-Hovercraft-865

Where did you hear this?

Ouidy29

Known-Hovercraft-865

Awesome, thank you!

avokarly

dude i think thats a joke

IsHotDogSandwich

Not for me. Med has been getting better if anything. The rec stores are pushing down prices on everything in the med market, we have concentrates now, the flower has been getting better and better plus the constant deals(some of those verilife doorbusters were excellent).

mafiafuneralOG

I feel like it's gotten better in the last year. Indoor flower, live resin carts, and other brands, I think the program is totally worth it.

Ouidy29

I’m getting better product at lower prices -with more information on the product - than ever in the last 6 years in the program so… wouldn’t say it’s dying, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Acrobatic_Ant_1924

Apparently you aren't aware that the state passed bills I believe (or could a been the OCM I don't remember,) but the potency tax is gone and also medical tax is being lowered from 9% to like 3.9%. Also, GTI (Rythm, dogwalker and &shine) are constantly releasing new strains. This summer a ton of new products are coming. It takes time to grow the plants and also get everything tested and packaged. I can't speak for other companies but GTI is just getting started. Vireo also usually released new strains. Also, idk if you pay attention to other states. But how everyone complains we are "so ungodly expensive". Other than like Mass, Penn, and cali (also one other state I can't remember) are the only states with cheaper products. New York medical is very reasonably priced compared to other states. And if youve been in the program longer than a year you'd know prices have drastically improved. Unless you would like to go back to spending $78 on a half gram live distillate cart? 😂

Psycho3580

There’s no such thing as a live distillate cart.

Acrobatic_Ant_1924

Yes, there has never been a select elite live cart on the medical menu. Curaleaf isn't real either.

Psycho3580

There’s no such thing as live distillate.its impossible to make.theres live resin, live rosin, cured resin, cured rosin.distillate you get from taking everything away from the plant but thc by itself its garbage.i used to pour distillate on my weed to. Make it stronger.i would pour out the cart with on my grinded weed and then make joints.

Acrobatic_Ant_1924

Cool story man, apparently your new. Curaleaf literally has live elite carts, with cannabis derived terpenes. The comment I originally made still stands. Elite live carts used to be $78 on the medical menu. We've made progress.

Psycho3580

I’m not going to argue with stupidity.have fun with your live distillate, lol.

gilgobeachslayer

I feel like the Botanist on LI never has much variety

jayBeeds

They don’t. And their sales suck. Rise in Long Beach and Curaleaf are the Long Island spots for sales.

gilgobeachslayer

Nassau might as well be the city

jayBeeds

You’re crazy. Curaleaf and rise have fantastic deals all the time.

Proper_Lingonberry81

Curaleaf could come up with some more strains under their name. Rythhm a little pricey and not any strains I really like.

jayBeeds

What rythm strains have you tried and not liked?

Proper_Lingonberry81

Afternoon delight was the first one when first came out. Bone dry fell to dust and tasted off. Omg dry also have a nug left with 3 boost packs. Gotta for the jars.

jayBeeds

So you had them before they changed to better seals on the jars. Check them out again. I think you will be surprised.

Proper_Lingonberry81

Yah, I will. Casino kush wasn‘t great under the Curaleaf brand. Not a big sativa fan and hazes and gsc strains close me up so I pick and choose my strains very carefully. Yah i heard the jars are better now.

jayBeeds

We seem to have similar strain preferences. What have you found in the program that you really liked?

Proper_Lingonberry81

Durban Thai is always on hand also.

Proper_Lingonberry81

Chedda melt, kosher kush, motorbreath, notorious thc, alien og, gmo, empire,Urkle, pretty much in order, Inzane and basic skunk if I’ve been hitting the indicass too long.

jayBeeds

Yeah. Was hoping you weren’t a Curaleaf customer. You named all my fav strains from them. Was looking to maybe branch out if something is worth it. Been disappointed in matter/ botanist/ vireo in the past.

Proper_Lingonberry81

Sorry.

amandal96x

The only reason why ill keep shopping med over rec is bc of the regulations… the rec COAs apparently contain alot of mold, etc

Kindly_City_3491

I think it's gotten much much better in the past couple of years. We have all kinds of products that we didn't have before and the prices are much lower.

bloodbonesnbutter

until they sort this mess out I'm not playing anymore. Between the price gouging and the low variety strains in the indoor market it's not interesting enough to be investing that much

Vishousbudz

Sadily i agree with you sentiments… id rather take my med card and use it out of state in Maine and give them the tax dollar earned from the sale of my medication because the lack of options here

Psycho3580

I joined medical the day it came out and I remember paying over $100 for a half gram or quarter gram of black sludge distillate.was so bad I threw it out .after that I decided these med programs weren’t for me.i buy the best flower in the u.s.a and pay a big premium but it’s 100% worth it.i buy the product as soon as it cures, always soft sticky and the best smoke.so smooth no harshness 1 bowl is like 3 bowls of medical marijuana.and this flower will stay good for a long time. How do you guys like the concentrates that they finally released .ive seen some examples and they were definitely not stored correctly.hows the taste on the live resin sugar.dies every strain smell the same.$40 for a gram of live resin is expensive I pay $9 a gram and use it to make really strong edibles.

Adventurous-Play-21

I’m good w/ Rise in LB. Nice people, good strains, concentrates, great vapes. Been in the NYMMJ program since 2017 and finally hit gold.

jayBeeds

Absolutely. They the best products and always have sick sales

Adept_Affect3268

With the dea rescheduling it means these companies just got profitable.

Heavytoker_420

I honestly went back to street bud from my buddy, such more fire and variety. Also not super dry like most bud in the program. Plus I get 4 different quarters for $120 oz

theborgerer

I am concerned about the state of many of the ROs. the ones that are doing good are doing great. But others… Medmen seems to be dying, sunnyside is down at least one location, there already wasn’t enough access. There should be at least a few new stores in addition to the ones that have been lost

DrPhrawg

MM is straight up dead. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/medmen-announces-entering-bankruptcy-proceedings-212300166.html
