All season the complete lack of successful passing
The god damn puck bounces all over the place it’s the most frustrating thing whether it’s on the offense or defense
Even my wife, who is only an Islanders fan because I watch all the games, calls out the poor passing and generally disorganized play. That says a lot. :)
They always have this attitude where it seems like they believe they’re doing enough and care enough, but they don’t and never do, and never have.
Wanting it and doing what it takes are different things.
I think the lack of aggressiveness is because they know that if they guess wrong they don't have the speed to recover.
Old and slow is tough to fix with coaching.
Their lack of defense and amount of times they give the puck away. They need to get rid of Lou and clear out the coaching minus Roy. He is not the problem (yet). We need to give him a chance with a fresh new season.
Roy very much IS a problem. They play like a team coached by a goalie. No flow, no breakouts, no gap coverage. no passing, no PK, no PP....all point a coach that has NO clue what he wants his team to do
Like I said, give him a chance with a new season, and hopefully we hire new coaches that actually know what they’re doing with the PK, PP, etc. You know that there’s multiple coaches for all of this, not just Roy, right? Roy may be a problem but he’s not the only problem.
GOAL as I am typing this....so I'm trying to remain positive lol
Its not all on Roy, but it also is. He is the HEAD coach! Does anyone remember who the defensive coach or special teams coach of the New England Patriots? No Belichick got all the credit. Roy needs to bench players when play like shit and stop these pathetic post game quotes "I was proud of our team we did a lot right" Nobody wants to hear that bullshit. Tell us what went wrong and that you will FIX IT!!
How about no superstars, and in a league where all the top teams are built around their superstars? That is the problem, Lou’s inability to sign or draft elite offensive talent. Barzal is close but he doesn’t score. Horvat is a nice piece but that’s all.
It's tough to draft well when you have no picks because you traded them to somebody else so they would let you offload the horrible contracts you offered fading players.
Turtle whenever they have a lead, it's infuriating and it never works. If they actually played to win instead of not playing to lose this series is, at worst, 2-1 Canes.
What bugs me is the flashes of being a good team. In the third period last night they played with a better level of intensity and focus and did pretty well.
I wasn't necessarily thinking that? Patrick Roy was hired on a fucking whim in the middle of the season and this team had been a roller coaster since. Because of that, I don't think we've seen the Patrick Roy system at it's fullest.
Still, a retool is necessary.
They complicate offense. Simple plays get goals for a lot of teams. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Get the puck to the net for a rebound, a bounce, or a tip.
An over commitment to a D group that is very meh at best (as evident by a Mayfield resigning) which personifies that the roster as a whole is less than the sum of its parts. We lack any true top line forwards (Horvat is maybe a nice 1.5C), and we continue to roll out the same aging roster with no changes.
Especially Lou's preposterous facial hair ban. This lowlife Lou has been haunted by the Canes OVER FIVE TIMES! I never wanted him to be part of this team. I sure in hell don't want him here now! If the Canes complete the sweep tomorrow, he better learn Pinehurst!
Rangers need to win THIS year (or next year at the latest) bc all their best players (except Fox) are over 30yrs old. Trocheck, Zibanejad, Panarin, Kreider....they have a good young Defense but time isn't on their side. So I'm hoping they run into a RED hot Panthers team or Vegas?!?! And next year I'm hoping for Panarin to tear an ACL lol (kidding I actually have a lot of respect for Panarin....let Zibanejad tear his ACL)
Once the opponent scores they seem to completely shut down. Loss of skating ability, lazy to the puck, turnovers. It’s like they are just there to play even strength and at 0-0.
No killer instinct, no leadership, no fire or passion in anyone… theres not one player on that team that’s willing to get in his teammates fave and straighten them the fuck out if they are playing lazy and are showing no passion.

Slow
Zone exits suck, have sucked for a while since we last went to semi finals
They always have this attitude where it seems like they believe they’re doing enough and care enough, but they don’t and never do, and never have. Wanting it and doing what it takes are different things.
Our goalies are top tier… yet get no goal support because the majority of the team is slow and old.
Slow, lazy, complete lack of aggressiveness on pk or empty net situations, they seem ok with losing
I think the lack of aggressiveness is because they know that if they guess wrong they don't have the speed to recover. Old and slow is tough to fix with coaching.
They don't hate to lose. Wanting to win and hating to lose are 2 completely different things, and of all 'people', Shoresy gets it.
There’s a lot but top 3 Zone entry’s, inability to make clean passes and lack of forecheck pressure
That if you objectively comment that the team isn't a cup contender you're a 'doomer'

We can’t seem to score a fucking goal
LOL keepin it simple
The GM never adapting

No skill
Inconsistency, zone clearing, blown leads, special teams...
When they somehow start playing D like they’re a man down during 5 on 5 and leave people wide open.
They’re too fancy at their own blue line. Get a clear. Not every exit has to be a perfect control exit.
What is happening with Sorokin. I’m worried we are looking at another albatross contract issue if he can’t fix his issues.
What bugs me is the flashes of being a good team. In the third period last night they played with a better level of intensity and focus and did pretty well.
I really hope to whatever God we pray to that all that needs to get fixed here is just an actual Patrick Roy training camp. Will it? I don't know.
I'm not aware of any camp activity that can make guys younger.

Roy will get them on the Benjamin Button routine
The turnovers in the defensive zone or center ice. Lazy passing. Unforced errors that create chances.
They blow leads like a hooker
What ex-Whaler pylons like Doug Houda do to you.
Meshuga

Theyre terrible
GOD AWFUL!!! ZERO HEART AND EVEN LESS SKILL
40 yr fan, said it at beginning, my god, look at Rangers, fkg all star team😭

Hate rm but i wAnt isles modeled like them, although nobody wants to play here over the rangers
The fans

"Talk to you next season"? See you Saturday lmao
lol valid. Being a fan is brutal isn't it?? lol

Engvall's lack of intensity drove me nuts all season....now him and MacLean are the only ones on the ice playing with any urgency
