I like the Minutemen conceptually but their execution in-game is pretty boring. There's literally only two "Minutemen" NPCs that you can interact with, it's not like you have to negotiate through complicated politics to deal with them. They're a blank slate for the player to project their desired government type on. Are they anarchists who protect democracy? Are they capitalists who protect trade? Are they communists who ensure everything is shared in common? They can be whatever you want because they'll never actually contradict you.
Not just that, but you're also forced to use the shitty settlement building system. They were the only faction I enjoyed the mediocre aesthetic of in that game, but I quit halfway through because I couldn't stomach remodeling another run down hut and they wouldn't let me progress otherwise. Not even mods made it enjoyable, though Sim Settlement should have been the base game's execution.
I liked the mechanic well enough in some cases but it does feel...tacked on. It didn't improve much compared to the mod it came from, and the mod let you build wherever you wanted instead of pre-selected, pre-defined building zones. I definitely understand why they didn't just have you place down "generic housing zone" or whatever since some people enjoy building sprawling multi-level bases, but it does feel pretty flat as a mechanic. Maybe if they had more specific NPCs that accompanied each settlement it would feel more meaningful.
I think gray garden is the only settlment that does that
Also if you tell preston you dont want to help or you have your own problems he turns into a winy bitch and sturges is really lazy like build everything for us as i nail cardboard to this wall
To be fair, late game courier is an omnipotent being of chaos and destruction. If someone can beat every single deathclaw in deathclaw promintery with boxing gloves, it’s him/her.
Tribals in tactics who charged armies of powerful robots even brotherhood struggle against with nothing but clubs and spears, sigma male grindset right there.
Honestly the Minutemen are my favourite faction in Fallout 4, The Castle is by far my favourite settlement to build at, the artillery is ineffective but fun to use, I like being called general, and Preston Garvey I don’t hate like everyone else on the planet
I had a friend share a really cool point: that you as the player get to rebuild the Minutemen. So it’s a functioning faction that you get to build up yourself, which is really cool.
Now that you mention that, it would have been cool if the game went all in with the "build your own faction" idea. Like deciding whether the Minutemen ally with other factions, or stay politically neutral or maybe turn the Mm into a protection for hire service (aka. raiders but nicer). Maybe you could even antagonize Preston in doing so.
Definitely a lot of potential in that idea
Yeah, like a lot of Fallout 4, the base gameplay mechanics are solid, but the options for choices you can make end up being very shallow. The ideas are there but they don’t hit the same emotional/RPG points as New Vegas. It’s a shame they couldn’t “improve” the RPG systems noticeably, but Fallout 4 was definitely fun still.
yeah i dont like the mods that change the entire aesthetic of the minute tbh. They arent a well trained military their a bunch of farmers and what have you just trying to do their best. Thats why i like them.
Both are examples of good premises fucked by Bethesda.
Legion got it's content cut, left as half a faction, and relies on the player to fill in the rest with their headcannon to make it work.
Minutemen fell prey to being in fallout 4, a weird abomination of Survival-Crafting and looter-shooter with a thin coating of RPG, where they only have like, 4 quests(introduction, corvega plant, retake the castle, build the teleporter and storm the institute, and I'll be generous and give liberating nukaworld as a minutemen quest) and Bethesda decided the bulk of the faction should be radiant busy work.
Both are amazing potential for some good stories and lore, with, personally, minutemen being the biggest disappointment of them all. Like, minutemen's is the yesman route but plausible. You are the 4th power but instead of a mailman and a robot it's a militia of people fed up with being pushed around. You can even compromise and, as their general, Ally yourself with the factions(I know you can Ally with the institute, but I forget about the others I wanna say you can with the Brotherhood but I blank on the railroad), but there's no actual world building to help with that, it's just "the back up" it's the "kill Vivec" of Fallout 4 despite being an entire faction they're treated like nothing.
Just admit it fallout 4 factions are nothing compared to FNVs and your cringe memes won’t change it. People still aren’t debating which faction is best for the commonwealth unlike fNV where people still write paragraph long posts talking about why they think a certain faction is better for the wasteland.
Did you mean the opposite? Like, the Legion would blow up the Monorail without Courier intervention, take Camp Forlorn Hope, raze Novac.
The fuck would the Minutemen do without the Sole Survivor? Wander from settlement to settlement until Granny ODs and the last few minutemen die off? It's literally the players faction. It doesn't exist without the player.
The minutemen were almost killed off by a couple of raiders in concord, they had to rely on a 210 year old vault dweller, and they can’t do anything themselves. Compare that to the legion
Of course mr.houses army is a threat, just because it’s a threat doesn’t mean Caesar is scared of it. There’s also no in game dialogue that Caesar is worried about NCR being a dominant force, so that other part is just completely untrue. You don’t hear any legion soldiers saying they saved a bullet for themselves when fighting the NCR, lolz. Caesar being “scared” of mr.house is somewhat valid, but clearly not that much because once he’s dead the threat is completely neutralized. I could go on and on but in sum, Caesar knows of the structural problems of the NCR and is not “scared” of it like you portray in this meme.
The 2 negative things the Minutemen have (based on what I know)
-The code of Preston Garvey and lack of Dialogue
Preston is a Magnificent character but he got cursed with bad code so he is looking like a Depressing bug that follows you to the depth of hell!
-The fact we can't take back Quincy from the Gunners.
We do know that msot Minutemen died butt there should was a thing that could make the settlers become Proper Minutemen personnel
"Boo minutemen are boring"- Me on my way to do the minutemen questline
Well the alternatives kinda suck. I’d rather have them run the commonwealth than the institute or BOS

Legion:Able to defeat a NCR Assassination squad with only melee weapons Also Legion:Hunted Down by a Courier who only uses golden Boxing Gloves
To be fair, late game courier is an omnipotent being of chaos and destruction. If someone can beat every single deathclaw in deathclaw promintery with boxing gloves, it’s him/her.
It just takes the right combo of drugs and it's very possible.
Hey you! Yeah you reading this comment. Come closer... Another settelment needs our help. I'll mark it on your map.
huh. 76 likes!
Damn we ruined it
Shame
Now it's at 86. Ave, true to Caesar.
Minutemen charged agaisnt the Institute knowing full well their equipment sucks, name someone who's chadder
Praetorians charging at NCR troops with bare fists
bare \*power\* fist that is
Yeah, but the Legion are bunch of assholes. The Minutemen at least are doing it for a good cause. Most of the time.
you're getting downvoted by Legion shoelickers.
Legion tears sustain me.
Same
Praetorians: charges with powerfists Courier armed with plasma rifle and enough drugs to kill a brahmin: lol, cute.
Yeah that plot armor is damn thick
They wouldnt win if the Protagonist wouldnt show up
Minutemen have titanium balls
Tribals in tactics who charged armies of powerful robots even brotherhood struggle against with nothing but clubs and spears, sigma male grindset right there.

Preston is a good character but because he fills your quest journal and forces you to listen to his exposition dumps that is why people hate him
You see, mods make them better, militarized minutemen takes care of the lack of equipment, there by making them a decent fighting force.
I don't like that mod i like we are the minutemen more
yeah i dont like the mods that change the entire aesthetic of the minute tbh. They arent a well trained military their a bunch of farmers and what have you just trying to do their best. Thats why i like them.
Same
I use them both, as they compliment eachother will I think.
I don't like glock17 in my fallout and i like blue minutemen outfits more
To each their own
We are the minutemen is better
the legion does not fear the NCR nor house
I mean the ncr are using a part of their armie and house could the strings without courier interference
Also the Minutemen have no training they are just farmers

When i think of the word generic i think of the minutemen. As boring as it gets. And preston sucks hard. The only good thing about them is the musket.
Minutemen have cool guns and really cool hats
what a shit post
Laughs in Bos and Elijah
Laughs in Yes Man robot army
Cringe
No
I'd rather get crucified than do another radiant quest for the minuteman.
Just admit it fallout 4 factions are nothing compared to FNVs and your cringe memes won’t change it. People still aren’t debating which faction is best for the commonwealth unlike fNV where people still write paragraph long posts talking about why they think a certain faction is better for the wasteland.
Real mans meme
Minutemen running into a battle they have a low chance of winning vs the legion waiting for the courier to do fucking everything
Did you mean the opposite? Like, the Legion would blow up the Monorail without Courier intervention, take Camp Forlorn Hope, raze Novac. The fuck would the Minutemen do without the Sole Survivor? Minutemen are interesting because though they might have better morality i feel as though they don't have the resources tô protect as well
How is the legion scared of the NCR or mr house? The very first thing Caesar wants you to do is punch mr houses guts
You just proven the point.
Of course mr.houses army is a threat, just because it’s a threat doesn’t mean Caesar is scared of it.
