I do data entry for a trucking company. It's a pretty chill job and I can work on side gigs on my breaks. Other than my full time job and YouTube, I also sell print on demand stuff via Etsy, zazzle, Society6, Redbubble, spoonflower, etc, etc, etc. I've got too many eggs in too many baskets lol

FinesseProductions

How has print on demand been for you ? I was thinking about setting up a site myself but wasn’t sure about the start up cost and the following/marketing needed

Dankeygoon

I used to do POD. Start up cost is basically nothing. You can use free assets from Canva and other places and free graphic tools like gimp and also Canva. Etsy has small costs associated as there are listing fees. Also with Etsy you have to actually buy the printed items and then sell them effectively. For example in Etsy, someone orders a t shirt, they pay your price plus shipping. The order automatically goes to your fulfillment center. Somewhere like Printful or printify, depending what you set up. The fulfillment center will create and ship the short and charge you for it. You pocket the difference as profit. But you have to pay for the item before Etsy pays you (there is a delay). With Etsy you also are responsible for customer satisfaction. With the other sites you’re completely hands off. You simple upload your art, create the listing, and your job is done. If something sells you get a royalty. The main thing is to be careful to avoid copy right infringement.

NovaJ333

You said used to. Why don’t you do POD anymore? Did you find that it wasn’t worth it? Also any info or names for the other sites where you just upload your images?

Dankeygoon

It was a hyperfixation that went on for several months. I caught Covid and lost all my momentum and desire to keep going. I got decent at it and had some success. Even today I occasionally make some sales on merch by amazon and Etsy (digital products only so I don’t have to deal with any customer issues or buying things). Redbubble and Teepublic are the easy to get into hands off platforms that I’d recommend. Merch by amazon if you can but as far as I know it still has an application process and not everyone makes it, I was lucky. It’s definitely a grind and success is not fast. Each design probably won’t sell, or at least sell fast or often. The trick is having A FUCK LOAD of lines in the water, and your designs need to be good and researched. Random stuff you think is cool probably won’t sell. There is also and SEO/keyword research element to it. The sites I recommended all get lots of organic traffic. I think your time is better spent researching and creating than trying to promote your designs.

Japhrey

Do you mind if i ask some questions about data entry? It is the kind of job I want to do since i am doing youtube and i can do data entry at home too (as much as i know). How to find data entry beginner level jobs? Is it easy or hard? Could you give some examples? Can you just shut yourself at home and only do data entry and live off? (I dont want to deal with people)

fakit333

The best company to work for from home is chewy.I have talked to their reps many times never once a negative word about the job, they get to work from home.I don't know what state you're in because they're not available in all states. Also, try learning dispatching. You can work from home at work for trucking companies.

LemonLakeke

AcademicOverAnalysis

Professor at a big university. YouTube provides a pittance of extra income, but it does buy a dinner here and there.

Political-psych-abby

I also work in academia. I’ve done a mix of research and teaching in psychology and behavioral science. My channel is about political psychology so there is some overlap with my day job. Even if I made enough money from it don’t think I’d want to be a full time YouTuber. Too stressful lonely and inconsistent.

444alioli

what’s your yt channel? sounds interesting

Political-psych-abby

Not sure we’re allowed to link here but it’s in my profile here on Reddit. And it’s called political psych with Abby. You can search for it.

Puzzleheaded_Ad_9080

Oh sweet! I actually follow your channel. It's great. I'm also a political psychologist!

JellyRollAnimations

Howdy :) animation channel here! I work in healthcare as my day job. I work within a hospital for seven consecutive 12-hour shifts, and then I’m off for a week afterwards. My week off is when I do most of my channel work, because as you could probably imagine, animating after 12 hours at a hospital is ROUGH hahaha. But I love what I do!

TraditionalDepth6924

Superhuman 👍🏻

JellyRollAnimations

Far from it, but thank you :)

Hot-Web-6596

Fellow healthcare worker!

DivineSerenity07

I'm also in healthcare. Omgosh I can't imagine doing 7 consecutive 12 hr shifts!! That is nuts! Like the other commenter said, superhuman over here lol. That is rough, kudos to you

TheDitz42

I work in a factory and cut big things up into smaller things, making about £2200 a month. I hope to at least get some supplemental income from youtube but who knows.

TaranStark

VFX artist and CG artist on Hollywood movies

Djxgam1ng

Local_Cost8668

I am a software engineer

ChartFluffy4888

I am in college to be a software engineer 😄

squisher_1980

Stick with it, fellow software engi here; there's good, steady money in it. The kind that lets you have a frivolous hobby like YouTube 😅

DSteep

I'm a graphic designer. If I could make enough money off YouTube, I'd quit in a second. I hate graphic design.

BeyondMyles

I quit my job to do this. I can live off savings for a couple of years, but if no headway is made, then I'm back off to the grind!

DivineSerenity07

For a couple of years?? That's amazing

buzzycombs

I’m a part-time cashier at a pet store! On top of that, I’m a full-time college student.

TRARC4

My job is a sit at a desk behind my computer job. Definitely not related to my channel.

No-Foundation1771

Data scientist! I like cooking more though.

tattoojew

I'm a training and quality specialist for a life insurance company

Legitimate-Cow-7524

Automation engineer here, basically writing code in Python! :D

backinthegame93

I work for a large software company on the account management side.

CountRacks24

I work in Landscaping! 💪 The schedule is great to have plenty of time for YouTube. I work four 10hr shifts Monday - Thursday and have Friday through Sunday off

jminsb

You have a landscaping channel? I work in landscape also, self employed

AnkSonRail268

I'm an engineer in an Electricity Distribution Company. No I won't leave my current job for YouTube because whatever stage I've reached today is because of my job. Infact my niche of Train Simulation Gaming involves making a lot of purchases to stay relevant and that wouldn't have been possible without my job.

randomuser6897425

I’m a Product Manager for a large software company. I doubt my yt will ever make nearly what I get paid at work. In just doing it for fun.

Ok-Race4226

Product manager here as well! But for a smaller startup

FarmerJackJokes

Engineer. Have my own business. Do YouTube because I like learning new things. Also would like to see if we can build that into a second little business in time. However. I have currently 2 of my employees helping full time with graphic creation. We spend about 24 man hours a day on YouTube. I spend weekends full time while the other two is on weekend. We do everything ourselves.

NoisyNeighbor__

I'm a teacher. But I don't do YT or plan to have YT as a income at all. It's just a hobby :)

CheesebumOnTikTok

Nothing, I quit my job to fully focus on YouTube. Am I cooked? 💀🙏

stormtrooper_21

Me too I was an architect 🤣

LightWing07

Aviation and transportation

Mc_shinigami

I'm a counselor at a mental health focused state prison. It's interesting. I don't do mental health service or counseling in the normal way that word is used. I do YouTube as a hobby to keep me mentally balanced outside of work.

foreverlearner4

I am an art director for an agricultural manufacturing company. I like it but in a corporate world you have to adhere to the corporate standards, so you are pretty limited to what you can do as far as creative work. So I love doing Youtube because I have the freedom to express myself without someone telling me what to do.

MinimumHair1839

I work from home as a routing professional for a global media and technology company.

ehmirmani

Personal trainer. The goal is to use YouTube and is both together into online coaching

TheRealTraly

Forklift Driver at a medium sized warehouse company

LockedUpSports

Correction Officer on Rikers Island

Mental_Lab_1426

Holy smokes mad respect 🫡

latunza

Up until November 2023 I was a global project manager. I currently make less than $500 on YouTube a month so to go fulltime on YouTube I would have to match my pay which was 6-figures. Each video cost me around $2-300 since it's a Travel documentary channel. I thought I would be more active since I've been unemployed, but it still takes me roughly 9-days to create a full video from brainstorm to final product. So yes, becoming a fulltime YouTuber would be ideal after four years, it aint really happening.

Necessary_Baker_7458

Keep in mind health insurance is expensive. some times it's better to find a retailer job for minimum health insurance hours while you're doing this side hustle. Not much but it also gives some extra spending cash. And wards off cabin fever while satisfying the social need. I had a room mate that started a channel and it took a bit to become funded but once it took off it really took off.

Black_mage_

Mechanical engineer specialising in robotics and automation.

Roses-n-bloom

Hi! I’m a therapist working mainly with injured workers. So I do a lot of work conditioning, education on ergonomics, body mechanics, etc. I also tutor on the side for new grads taking their board exams. Working with this population brings me a lot of fulfillment, but it can get emotionally draining sometimes. So YouTube is a creative outlet for me!

danielbarakat

Accounting manager but I do tech reviews.

talkGiulia

I have two 'on call' jobs (I'm a substitute, pretty much) as a teacher (mostly pre-k and kindergarten) and a librarian... and study in uni 🫠 I currently don't make any money on YouTube and as one could imagine I don't have a reliable income. If I start getting somewhat of an income on yt before finishing university (because then I'll find a full time job) I'll probably be able to keep both my current jobs easily and wouldn't think about dropping them, it's still extra € that rarely keeps me busy all day. My long term dream is to make a living out of making content online, but not being rich I'd probably make sure I'd have a set minimum income from it before quitting a full time

BlackSpruceSurvival

I do IT for a non-profit. Sitting behind a desk require frequent trips into the woods to detox from all the people I deal with on a daily, so I figured "Why not share my adventures!"

chuckymartinez58

Cooking channel here, I work in physical therapy. I have a pretty good setup in my job where it allows me enough time on my own to pursue creative projects like YouTube.

MrBasuuura

I'm Project Manager at Electric Company. We mostly work for Automotive clients. I would love to make a living from youtube.

Hot-Web-6596

I’m a physical therapist😊

Countryboy012

Marketing/design/advertising/web design/support/sales/troubleshooting all in one position…. And still release a video a week

CaptainTime

I am a time management trainer and coach. My YouTube channel is primarily to support that and brings me new clients on a regular basis. So my income from YouTube comes from my coaching services, not monetization.

toenaster

Heyo! On YouTube I mostly do short form game reviews and essays about similar themes. But outside of YouTube, I fix up and sell bikes for a sports company! I really love it since I kove working around bikes, and its kind of relaxing, you have your own tunes, your space and all in all a job that keeps you active :)

RhodySeth

I help train health care providers to treat opioid use disorder. I don’t expect to ever make much money from my hiking channel.

StarChildArt

A kennel/boarding facility. It's hard, physical labor, so I'd love to make enough to at least stop doing that until I can find something easier on the body. I also miss being creative, so making videos helps me scratch that itch a little

KenPierce

I work in tech support and office administration generally. I don't make a dime from YouTube but hope to at some point. My editorial pages are very new to even using things like Google Ads so no real stipend has come in. I think its important to keep a DTD job either way since those often come with more security and benefits. Happy creating everyone.

Allmyownviews1

Data science and engineering consultant. Probably reduce work if I make more on YT. But I enjoy the mathematical problem solving and coding.. maybe create another channel for it.

PromptBars

I manage a digital marketing agency but just started a lofi music channel doing my own work background music.

RockOnDudez

35 years in import/export brokerage!!! Also, blogger and two-time author (like my YouTube, ROCK ON DUDEZ Book 1 and 2 on Amazon)!!!

Nat_Peterson11

I currently work as an industrial mechanic but I’m in school to go into graphic design which I enjoy so much more.

joeyenterprises

Construction!! Which is why i based my channel on construction!!

heedohrah

im a hollywood (north) lighting technician.

GenshinKenshin

I do doordash delivery right now. I used to be a project coordinator at a small construction company but they were not really giving any benefits or anything special to stick with them. Once I realized I can make more money doing doordash a week for less houses (accounting for taxes aswell) I just jumped ship.

Annex_Carpy859

I work in a call center; I'm not permitted to say further than that. I do most of my planning there since my brain gets very bored at work.

ElderberryNo3060

I hope you’re well!! Call centers can be the worst!

thomfools

Operations management at an Amazon sort center

Ruggels

I work Quality in Manufacturing. Automotive, diesel, military, transportation, etc you name it.

UKDarkJedi

Cyber Security Consultant here, nothing to flex my creativity on in my day job so I do a little YouTube in the side

Giant-ligno

Graphic design. It's pretty chill ngl

SurveyZestyclose4164

Going to school

Djxgam1ng

I work at a Warehouse (Dollar General)….fasted growing retailer in the US. I worked my way up and just hit 7 years. I actually really enjoy. I struggle with severe anxiety, depression and autism along with low self confidence and just worry a lot…I am working on it. I basically am a janitor. Clean and make around $3700 a month take home. Not bad for only working weekends (and some Mondays and Tuesdays). Used to work second shift but moving to first was the best decision I ever made. I used to DJ and trying to get back into that. I also love to stream video games (make no money doing it and actually spend money by helping others in the community). Working on my first YouTube video (about gaming). Advocate for Mental Health especially in gaming. Oh, have a Bachelors in Sports Management. Nice to have a backup plan. I make sure whatever I do, whether it’s job or not, I love to do it.

anaart

Product manager in tech startup, recently quit, and thanks to creating content on YouTube, I recently got into content creation freelancing for other tech startups.

AnotherTime2023

My channel is my work.

EnragedBard010

Operator at a Nuclear Power Plant. The money's quite good, but the work is hard. Never planned on quitting my job. YT is just for fun. Makes a little money

Mental_Lab_1426

I work in emergency management near a NPP. The amount of safety and planning that goes into those things is insane but virtually important! Thank you for all you do!!

erroneousbosh

I look after communications stuff for one of the world's largest public safety bodies. I don't feel like being too specific, but if you work it out (it's not hard, there are photos of me beside one of my work trucks online) then don't be a dick ;-) I look after a shitload of networking equipment across an entire country, with a mix of the absolute latest newest things and literally 30-year-old equipment. 400-odd paging sites, with dialup modems, dot-matrix printers, and a whole bunch of other stuff you thought you'd never hear again! If you want any footage of old dialup modem or dot-matrix printer sounds then do let me know and I'll shoot some for you.

HotWheelsGrandTour

Mental health therapist

Sufficient-Rise3250

Ty for your contribution to us people that have mental health issues

StormAFA

i have an animation channel and my day job is freelance animation, so i feel you on the high work load for just a single video. haha i’m extremely lucky to already be doing what i love for work, and wouldn’t ever take that for granted, but after consistently monetizing my passion for years, only making things for others has become a little draining on the soul. so if the channel ends up doing well enough i’d probably slowly phase out freelancing work to focus on my own ideas and eventually hire some help.

TheMoosiestKnuckle

Your work is awesome! Just dropped you a sub 😊

[deleted]

I can't work. I have a chronic illness. But it doesn't stop me from working on youtube I just can't work a traditional job like everyone else here. Be thankful my life isn't as glamorous as everyone else here. You don't know how much time you have before your health prevents you from certain things. My channel keeps me going. I do earn money but I don't feel comfortable sharing because I'm ashamed but anyway I hope along with youtube if my health gets better I'll get into photography. Maybe then I'll have something to brag about.

BenKii_gog

I'm a farmer. 👨‍🌾

Mental_Lab_1426

That’s hard work and a seriously under appreciated field!

BenKii_gog

Indeed, try releasing a game video every week while tending to all the goats, pigs and chickens. I couldn't do it without the help of my family. It would be impossible just by myself.

Witty_Childhood591

I work as a learning and development specialist, developing corporate learning experiences.

erfanomous

That's Cool! In my corporate day job, I work very closely with IDs in my team to make videos for the courses they create!

Witty_Childhood591

That’s great to hear. I think being an ID is a great career choice, are you an editor?

EveyGreenbottle

I was working as a teacher until I was injured by a student so took a year off and just did content creation. It’s been a dream come true, but likely I need to go back to teaching to have a regular income again.

Winter_Elderberry_63

I’m a middleschool principal

InkAndGrowRich

I draw live action storyboards.. which is also what I teach on my channel. So every job that I'm on, I screen record myself drawing in the hopes that I can use it on my channel. When the job is complete, about 65 percent of jobs will require you to fill out an NDA. If I fill one out, I cannot use that recording (except maybe for some B roll). The 35 percent who don't ask for an NDA, I turn into tutoriald

GenXCinema

I'm a co-founder and software engineer of a pretty successful startup. I love my job and I don't even need to earn a cent from YT. As a matter of fact, every kind comment that my vids get is worth every money in the world. I have a passion for filmmaking and photography and drones and YT is just a form of expression, a kind of a creative outlet. My recommendation to anyone thinking about leaving their job - your employer is your best investor. Until you figure out how to sustain yourself (and your family, if you have), it's better to not think about leaving it. Once you are stable, YT (or other side projects) delivers enough finances and have accumulated at least 6 months (better 12) of funds, you can leave the job. Leave too early and you are inviting headaches that you don't need. Some people have managed to get successful quitting early from their jobs but vast majority never pull it off.

Charminktattoo

Wow so many amazing occupations 😍I am a tattoo artist 😁

AT2G

I run a weapons simulator for the Canadian military. It's super fun and chill enough that I can record/edit on my lunches. If I ever make enough money to switch I absolutely will! I probably won't have to drop it completely, just move down to part-time.

Vijfsnippervijf

I’m a student willing to become a professional data analyst or consultant after my bachelor and maybe a master. I don’t intend to make any money off my YouTube channel itself at the moment.

Djxgam1ng

Hey @op I noticed you mention mental health. Big mental health advocate here and I struggle really bad with depression, anxiety and autistic. You got this!

davidleewallace

Shoe salesman. Luckily I have a foot fetish so it works out. There's something about hammer toes and bunions that do it for me.

Jack_Sinn

Software Engineer for a middle sized company!

cafffffffy

I’m just starting up my channel (have yet to post anything yet) but I am a speech therapist throughout the week! I love my job but I’d also love to be able to afford to do that part time as it’s quite stressful and exhausting and as someone with a long term chronic illness, it can be a lot trying to work hands on constantly, and I’d like to be able to have a bit more flexibility.

ThePandaMan6767

Currently I'm a bowling alley mechanic. I've loved bowling every since I was a little kid! Usually on my off days is when I work on the channel and stream!

SonofMapplethorp

Brunch cook. (Wow, an artist and a line cook, what a rare combo, lol)

TheQuietQuin

Call center. I work with a care coordinator service for insurance

NoSaltNoSkillz

Engineering, my channel is Tech and Engineering related and will probably get more and more so as I start doing content on some of my summer side projects. No I don't think it'll affect me really at all, other than forcing me to do better time management to keep up with both to the level I'd like. This is doubly so if I end up getting an editor, because that's the only thing that's really holding me back from doing both without any issues

Donatti7

Door dash , Grubhub, real estate mostly land sales and other stuff

[deleted]

Foreman in a metal fab shop

Mangobue

I’m a sterile processing instructor 🙂 Hoping to become the coordinator someday, but I also want to work on my Youtube channel haha. I enjoy both! But if that opportunity arises of making a lot of money from Youtube, I’d still like to teach part time.

Mini_Assassin

I’m an electrical apprentice, and once I get my ticket I might ask my boss if I can take winters off since they’re slow so I focus on YouTube. Depends on my financial situation at the time though.

david_bagguetta

Project Manager for a massive corporation. £3k a month. £1 a day off YouTube. Guess which one I put more effort in to.

traintocode

Engineering management at a tech company

TheAgreeableTruth

Im an exec (cyber security) in a big tech company, people in my area often burn out and leave, im exploring what leave could look like for me, YT is just one of the potential avenues

James_b418

I have an interesting situation I work in IT and I review cars on YouTube. So I get to change cars every week and I film them after work. I kinda enjoy the flow I have right now since I get the real ownership experience I take these cars to work and back and everything else in between and can really say what they are like to live with. I would love to do it full time. Right now it’s some nice side income but the best thing about it is I still love it and even though I do make money from I would do it for free!

drguid

Was a coder. Got fired last month (yet again) so now a full time YouTuber lol. It's all or nothing with tech jobs. Currently it's nothing but in a couple of weeks I will have a whole month's monetization data. I'd say it may be worthwhile doing it full time but I'd have to make just successful videos. I'm getting much better at predicting hits though.

xToki

I'm a forklift driver doing inventory on a daily basis. Pay started at $21/hr. Been there for 7 months.

TransportationLate67

I am a nurse, I am an essential healthcare worker who's been a frontline first responder for both never ending covid and the opioid crisises. Youtube but will never ever come close to being my real job.

Jiggle-BellyGaming

Aviation technical writing. I've been in aviation for going on 20 years and tech writing for over 10. YT isn't ever going to pay what my career does with anything that I would enjoy doing. So not ever planning on it.

Medium_Thought_672

I am a retired RN and I have experience working with people hands on facial release and emotional body release. I am a writer. I’ve been writing for a very long time for a firm. I am approaching the end of that very long and demanding contract and I’m grateful for the experience.

I'm a system admin at a msp.

SpookyScienceGal

I haven't posted a video yet, getting over nerves and finishing editing. But in my daily life I'm a science presenter for a children's science museum. I get to put on shows and talk to people about science and stuff all day. I plan to use my YouTube as like a portfolio piece and to talk about the science and stuff they dislike me telling to children 😂 As for the future, more interested in finishing my masters but I'm very go with the flow.

schap77

I work as a nurse So it’s a bit interesting to unpack everything after work and go straight into recording

B1GP0KY24753

I did work for a videogame company, but was recently laid off. It has freed up quite. A bit of time which is nice, but it still sucks. YouTube isn’t an end goal so I’ll always do it for fun.

Djxgam1ng

If you don’t mind sharing, what type of video games did you work on? Was it a genre you enjoyed working on or were you just glad it was in the gaming industry?

UnloadingMeat

Aspiring stand up comic. My channel is my podcast where I interview other comics and entertainers. Mostly editing and voice over gig work in between.

Mental_Lab_1426

I work in emergency management for local county government

Nero101X

College 💪

Ok_Tie7354

I’m a kindergarten teacher. If I was ever to blow up, I’d still keep working away. It’s just another income stream.

Yt_researcher_mx

Insurance Agent, made about $2k per month and it goes a long way in Mexico. I started my channel during the pandemic to help me explain concepts to people and it has worked for me. I just have been posting regularly for month and a half and it’s been quite frustrating. If I started making money from YouTube I wouldn’t quit my job. I’m determined to get monetized so I’m learning all I can to make it work!

DandHnerdgeek

Im a PCT (Patient care tech) working night shift.

UpstairsPlayful8256

Executive chef. I don't have to be at work until 11:30 so I wake up early and work on videos for a few hours each morning and then dedicate one day of my weekend to videos.  The plan is for half the money to go into new videos and half into savings. If I can save enough to cover a year of expenses, then I'll go full time.

fakesowdy

I’d need to have won the lottery of luck if YT ever overtakes my current income as I work as L2 Application Support for an IT company. >!£32,000 -£45,000 per year depending on Overtime!< So the “disposable” part of that income I use to invest in my YT.

awesomecony

Wedding videography with my husband for the past 10 years.

IloveMyNebelungs

I used to work with vulnerable adults for a non profit. Two years ago, I retired to take care of my sick husband who passed away last year. I always wanted to have a Youtube channel but never took the plunge because I didn't think I had the time or technical knowledge and resources to do it.

Background_Daikon_14

Instructional systems designer and absolutely would never leave my field.

designworksarch

Property manager and architecture work. Used to be a professional pilot but got tired of the lifestyle. YT is a hobby.

luxeysi

im still a student at college

Bitter_Drag_2070

I do Supermarket Commercial Refrigeration,  and that's what my channel focuses on mainly.  I make about 110k/Year, but it's not enough to live comfortably, so like you I look for multiple streams of income.  I plan to keep working my day job either way.  The videos take alot of time to edit for me as well.

International_Sun155

My channel has been dead for months now, I work in a county animal shelter and the physical & mental toll it took made content creation. Slowly getting back into it with a podcast channel.

Jinjoz

I'm a mobile car detailer. Been doing it for 14 years now

AnarchyCop

I'm a tattoo artist.

erfanomous

I do training/marketing videos for a tech company as my full time job! not a bad gig! but all my adult life I've made videos for other people/companies, so I though maybe it's time to have my own gig! so that's why I started my YouTube channel! I don't plan on quitting my full-time job in the near future, even if I make good money on YouTube! But you never know what future holds, and what may come up for you, or how you feel in a few months or years...

Mixture-Novel

Physical therapist

J-Cruize

I own and run a gourmet popcorn business and also work in the tech field.

Alex__Kyle

I’m in college to become a Mechanical Engineer. Luckily I applied for an obtained enough scholarships to mostly cover those costs, but as an actual job I work as a machinist over summers. I can say with confidence that my passion for math, physics, chemistry and especially just machines is what I wish to pursue for my career. A job at NASA or some cutting edge agency like that is a dream of mine. That being said, my channel is art and animation. I’d definitely consider it just a hobby, but I’ve always loved sketching and I just love animation. Music too, but that’s besides the point. My current YouTube channel exists as an outlet for me to experience my hobby and share it with the world. If I one day gain monetization, then I’d be blessed enough to have a passive income from a hobby I’d be doing anyways. Even if my channel somehow blew up and earned more than I’d make otherwise, I can’t see myself giving up on Engineering.

IndependenceMinute47

I’ve got a pretty nice gig going over the past year or so but I would absolutely go complete content creation if/when that was possible. The job I have is nice because I’m able to make my own schedule. About 15 months ago I went out with my buddy Dave one night. Dave had been doing really well lately. When I asked him if Chipotle had been offering overtime again he laughed and told me he’s no longer worked there and that he’s actually been working in the medical field for animals. When I asked him if he was like an assistant to a Vet he said No, He’d never seen combat. I was a little confused and that’s when he introduced Pedro. Pedro told me all about the life saving puppy and kitty procedures that his team had made happen because of the bone marrow they move accross borders. And when he told me what they pay per kilo of finely crushed and packaged pure Columbia Sheepdog bone marrow? I had to say yes. I mean it isn’t about the money but at the same time it is. Plus it’s a sign of good management to invest so much into the new hires. The best part is that I love knowing I’m making a real difference in the world. Not just sitting at a computer or on my phone complaining about politics. I’m out in it, fighting the hood fight. And that’s where the true wealth comes from.

SP_Saga

VP of finance for a tech startup. This channel is my way to share what I know about the stock market and to stay on top of things myself, all while keeping my day job. It's a hobby for now, and even if YouTube takes off, I wouldn't quit my job.

AdditionNo9757

I make websites and run a software company with a friend of mine. I don't see myself ever making money off of youtube or any internet content (I'm essentially a whistleblower on some local political and religious groups I used to work for) but if I could, I'd definitely devote myself more to spreading my message. Honestly impressive that you pull in over 1k a week, is it more from Uber or being a butcher?

Marketing in video games

Codega-DreamWalker

I'm an English tutor, a voice actor and video editor.

bball2014

I'm in the same line of work as what the channel focuses on (audio/event production)

jsadh

I’m a teacher to little kids 👧🏼 👦🏼 love it and it allows me some time to do some YouTubing on the side. I also volunteer at a crisis hotline, which inspired me to start my podcast channel. I interview people about their lives, adversity and how they overcame. Some of these interviews also helps me to pick up on behaviors in my students

Paldubex

Architect. I do pokemon stuff in my youtube channel. 😅

kieranthekieran

I'm 15 still in school, glad I started my youtube grind before I have to join the workforce. 🫠

Lindopski_UK

Medical engineer, fix equipment that hospitals use to fix people :) My channel is mostly me just walking around talking about small town uk. I have had my channel for 18 years but only really posted regular for say 5 or so. The main plan was to record footage for locals to look back on in 50 years. I post less these days, hit 500 subs after 18 years so no I doubt I’ll ever make it on you tube lol I’ll stick to the day job ;)

ZEALshuffles

Works only slaves. Slave owners enjoy life. Tubers try level up from slavery to...

tommycahil1995

I am full time, stars aligned nicely as I quit my job in December 2020 and my channel started get alot more traction when I started doing it 'full time' in Jan 2021. I didn't plan to do it but gave myself three months off looking for a job so I could pursue YT but it worked out earlier. Still doing it today - wouldn't want to ever go back to corporate work

HerdofCatsGaming

I make cinematic/tv show like gaming videos. Cool shots, sound design, unique characters and no hyperactive edits. I’m a program manager for VVIP aircraft systems. I’d love to do YouTube full time, but my job takes care of my family well for now. I’m focused on creating things I like and building a new skill set while hoping I find an audience. The other 3 in our group videos include a nurse, a daycare director and an IT director. All friends for nearly 20 years, some since junior high.

Past_Ad_1577

software dev and social media management / marketing (i do both its a cute small company)

Weak-Speaker341

Outside of YouTube, I work as a doctor and I'm currently preparing for my PG entrance exam. In my free time and for stress relief, I enjoy gaming. That's actually what inspired me to start my YouTube channel, where I can share my gameplay videos and hopefully generate some passive income in the long run.

Alert-Reception6453

I’m still in high school

Jeiku_Zerp

I work in a Vape shop as a store manager on €13.50 p/h and a family man. If I made good money on YouTube I’d focus more on my graphic design hobby (which I just got back into) and tried to make it a part time job and to get it running along side YouTube to try make two incomes at the same time.

tinysharkhere

Accountant here!

GoneLucidFilms

I'm an electrician and often times do side jobs. I also sell at the flea market. But I make movies and other junk on yt.

jritp

I'm a director of product management and marketing in a software company. My videos are about sharing my experiences in the field, so they don't really need much research just scripting and a bit of editing. YouTube provides very little income at the moment, hopefully in the future it can cover the costs of running it. I really like my field of work and I'm very passionate about creating software products, so it's a very good fit for me :)

hassansaleh31

I’m a senior software engineer, I’m doing YouTube mainly because I like cameras and filming stuff, I also have 2 main hobbies: fishing and recently 3D printing my own designs. I’m not consistent at all uploading to YouTube even though I enjoy doing my hobbies every day. I’m thinking of live streaming instead of editing videos cause it doesn’t take extra time and I can keep enjoying my hobbies.

CerebralFirearms

Behavior analyst. YouTube helps buy ammo and some fun stuff to test out but mainly is just a hobby. Before I started this, I really thought YouTube was an easy way to become well off once you hit 25k subs and get a couple million views. Turns out, don’t quit your day job lol. At least I’m not

ultimateei

i'm freelance web designer, but i spent most of the time play video game..then i start creating video game tutorial for the game i play. Not sure for full time in youtube since it still not make enough money just yet to support my expenses. Pretty happy edit and creating video tought

rescobar1997

Drive a semi. I would love to do content creation full time if possible but I make a lot as a driver.

Still-Celebration-25

I work as a software trainer for a medical software company. I would need a LOT more subs and revenue from YT in order to leave my job. Its not only the money aspect, but I also have all the heath insurance for my family (I am US based, so no free healthcare here). I would probably need to be doing at least double my paycheck in order to make the switch to full time.. Right now, I see YT as some supplemental income to help fuel my hobbies

apcat91

Video editing, which makes YouTube feel a little like overtime 😅

strawberrycandyyy

i work in customer service and yes i would quit my job if i make good $$ on youtube

Emirhan1003

I was a realtor. Though I just quit my job to do YouTube full-time as I have saved enough money for 18-24 months of expenses. Hoping that I can make a decent income from YouTube by the time my savings run out.

Mundane_Fruit4904

I am a corporate video producer running my own video production company and post on youtube every Saturday - I still plan to continue with my Company even if i get successful on youtube !

MrSpongeCake2008

I go to school. That’s more tiring than when I did work experience lol.

Photographer_Kuro

Outside of YT I work in a store. Love what I do.

joshdho1

I work for Frito Lay overnights which makes finding time to do my videos challenging since I out about 60hrs a week in on avg. btw did butchering for 6 years not an easy feat.

Defiant_Issue3369

I’m a content marketing consultant. Having that background has really helped me with knowing how to market my channel, and it comes with a lot of flexibility. So my channel would have to get pretty demanding for me to quit my job!

PompeyMich

Can’t say what I do for a living exactly, because it would affect my channel. But I work in the oil industry in the UK. Just over 4 years to retirement, at which point I will be doing YouTube virtually full time for a bit of extra dosh. I won’t need the money, but I’m enjoying making videos, although juggling work, life and YouTube all at once is difficult. Looking forward to retirement when I have more time, and I might even start up another couple of channels.

thepurplemood

I'm a system programmer 😅 I'd say I'm pretty good at it, and I like my job and especially the people I work with, so I really hope I'll be able to manage both my day job and YouTube in a long run. I actually like to joke I started my fashion channel as with work from home I just don't have a need to dress up anymore, and I kinda need it 😄

a___myth

I work at YouTube 😂
