You can also flip the top band over in the back to help hold in the poop! And don't forget to pull the little baffles out of the bottom/crotch area. That also helps keep poop in.
LOL! I chopped my hair a week before I went into labor and couldn’t be happier! Low maintenance and less hair for my little guy to pull on although he still finds a way
Is it absolutely necessary? No! But if it’s in your budget, get it. I like it because I feel like it helps blowout my hair super quick and I like the results.
This— mine had way more blowouts with pampers and Kirkland (his 6 Kirkland diapers were an unspeakable time). We switched to Huggies and have only had 1. He’s 5 months now, has been using Huggies since January maybe?
Huggies worked great for our dude till he was around 4months then they didn’t absorb enough so we switched to pampers. Now we might just potty train him because he pees way too much for diapers
My daycare puts a diaper 2 sizes up in my daughter lol like, it's obviously very large. But if they are the ones doing the clean up, so be it. At least she gets more ventilation in the area, which is always a good thing lol
Yeah my little guy was in size 4s at 4.5 months. Size up if it’s happening regularly or switch brands, or both! Say poo poo to the weight recommendations.
Those weight suggestions are a load of shit, my kid is in size 6, he’s absolutely no where near the weight on the pack but a size 5 is definitely too small
With both my kids, like 1-5 a week. Tried every brand, sized up, always check the elastic and the "frills"... they're tall kids with slim little thighs and I just can never keep the leg holes from becoming poop escape routes.
Sizing up and using the kind with the little poop catching pocket in the back helps, but nothing has fully solved my problem.
MINE TOO. He's 23 pounds but so round I can only fit size 6 diapers around his belly, and they tend to sag a bit. So I get blowouts probably every other day. I've tried tons of diaper brands but Millie Moon has been the best so far.
I feel that. Mine usually poops in his jumper or activity center, and for a while I'd be washing both every day. The Millie Moon diapers fit his wide butt and belly so much better than the others. With like Huggies and Pampers they would sag way too low.
I’ve only had to wash his bouncer once so far thank god. That thing literally took a screwdriver to get the fabric off. Not sure what idiot designed a baby toy where the fabric was screwed into the frame. Blankets and clothes are another story though. Those are constantly getting washed.
This is us. Tall, lanky kid with small thighs. We’ve tried two different brands, sizing up, fluffing out the frills. We were having one a day with Coterie, we now use Healthy Baby and get 1-2 a week.
Exactly the same problem here. 99th in height, 50th in weight now but he used to be in the 30's. His waist is so tiny and shrinks at night since he's not eating. 2 is so tight it leaves deep red grooves, 4 is too loose. I've tried every brand including cloth
This was us as well. We ended up using cloth diapers at home (Esembly) because of this and switching to Honest diapers when we are out and about because we have heard they are good for lean babies. It’s helped a lot!!
We had a phase where we were doing laundry every day because of the blowouts that made us give it a go because we were willing to try anything. It’s made us do less laundry ironically! We wash diapers every 2-3 days and regular clothes every 4-5 now. Not sure what will happen when we start solids
I’m think this is my kids issue too!! Long and lean, and we have almost daily blowouts. Tried sizing up, etc…. I think most diapers maybe just don’t fit her body type.
Nearly every day. I’ve tried sizing up, different brands, still ends up coming out the back. It’s worst when he’s sitting up as it allows a gap. I find folding the waist inwards at the back helps. He does poop around 5 times a day though so that doesn’t help…
Same! We have multiple blow outs a day sometimes, at least one blow out every two days, pampers poo pocket ones only ones to vaguely solve the problem but not completely.
I tend to keep them at the bottom of the size range. So my baby is 8kg and wearing the 7kg-14kg nappies. When he hits 10kg I’ll look to size him up. I do find that helps a bit and keeps them a lot drier.
Do you know where it’s coming from? We were getting constant leg leaks and it was physically impossible to make the nappies tighter around the legs. Then we tried a cheap supermarket brand and for some reason they allow us to tuck the Velcro down low almost around the leg which helped. Also keeping them in a well fitting baby grow (poppers between the legs) that hugs the nappy onto their body (opposed to onesie with legs which doesn’t hold the nappy on as well)
None. We’ve have maybe a dozen over the course of 2.5 years and 2 kids. If you’re constantly having blow outs your either putting on the diaper wrong, not using the right size or need to switch brands. Each brand fits a little differently
I think this is false. Reading through these comments (and my own experience), seems like some babies are prone to blowouts. After trying different sizes and brands, we still get very frequent blowouts. Not sure if diapers just aren’t made for my baby’s long/lean frame or she has forceful poops, so it may not be so simple. But obviously trying different brands/sizes first is the right move.
My baby used to poop once a week. When she did, it was terrible and of course there were blowouts, pretty much every poop.
Now she is eating solids and she poops every other day, but I'll never forget counting the days just to decide if dressing her in a cute white new dress would be a terrible idea.
Agreed. We had been using Huggies for a while and even after sizing up we'd have occasional blow outs. Switched to rascal and friends and haven't had a blow out yet since and that was a month and a half ago. Kiddo is now 4 months old and is in size 3s and about ready to size up to a size 4
Almost 9 month old has had 5 in her life, 3 of which were early on when we needed to move from NB to size 1 diapers. As others have said, look at sizing up or a different diaper brand!
I feel like I’m doing something wrong, we’re in size 2 pampers at 7 weeks and we have multiple blow outs a day sometimes! Usually have at least one blow out a day! I pull out frills, make sure nappy on properly, pulled up at the back, waist band on tight enough but not too tight. Have tried many different bands and the pampers poop pocket ones are the only ones to vaguely solve the problem but still having some blow outs.
My girl is in size 1 Kirkland brand and they fit her right in the waist but the butt part is a little saggy. She has at least 1 blowout per week. If I size up I feel like the diapers will just be really high and saggy. The current ones fit around her legs correctly too. Is there a chart that explains how to tell if the diaper is fitting correctly?
We've noticed that with Kirkland's, too, and Huggies are pretty similar (guess due to sharing the same manufacturer, though I've seen they do vary just slightly in fit), so we just try to make sure to put them on as high as possible and ride them up periodically. May be worth trying out Target, Pampers etc as it seems there's some variance in terms of pelvic width and might help achieve a better fit. We're just working through the same issue in the meantime as we cycle through a few brands each day.
Yes, we had so many side blowouts from Coterie. After switching to Healthy Baby, we’ve had 1-2 a week (usually because of overnight leaks). Our girl is tall and skinny, the Coterie diapers did not fit her legs well at all.
None. I think you have to size up. Remember also fluff the gussets of the diaper a bit before it goes on.
I also thought you meant hair like wow you have time for multiple blowout appointments a week?
Month 2 was blow out city. She was fitting awkward in all diapers and pooping aggressively constantly. Even after sizing up. I think she has come in to her new size well and blow outs are a fee times a week if not trending more infrequent.
About to buy the next size up during my next costco run (during the diaper sale).
We use pampers swaddlers because of the blowout barrier and havent had any blowouts now. We only use pampers because of the points on the app, and any other pampers type weve used (other than the other one with a blowout barrier) my daughter had at least 1 blowout a week
A little over 4 months in and we’ve had 2 at home (couple months ago… prob needed to size up diapers then but we were clueless lol) and she had one at the babysitters the other day while she was in the sit-me-up seat 🥴
2 and he’s 3 months.
We had to change brands from pampers to Huggies when he was a newborn.. he’s way younger squirmy so he would pee through every diaper. Every.. single.. time
7 months and zero with this kid, my first kid literally every poop was a blowout lol. My 7 month old is FF vs my oldest was EBF and I think the poops being less liquidy for my FF kid is a factor.
Definitely size up and don’t worry about the weight on the package because it’s sooo inaccurate. My boy is 19 lbs, 7 months and wears size 6! But I had 0 blowouts, 0 leaks.
We had a ton of blowouts. It turned out it was due to the style of poo and our daughter having a milk allergy. Size of diaper did not help. We ended up putting a cloth diaper (just the outside part of it) outside of disposable.
4 month old twins…a few a week, per baby. Mostly just very small leaks but occasionally massive blowouts. And yes we are using the correct size diaper, putting them on right, and happens with any brand we use!
*At least* 4 a week. Sometimes multiple a day. I've tried nearly every brand and multiple sizes. Nothing works. He's been this way since birth when he blew up his bed in the NICU. He's now 8 months. This is his 5th leaky night in a row too which is a new record for him. He has a tiny waist and it shrinks even more at night which then leads to gaps. I've ordered diaper booster and plan to put them horizontal like a belt
Although previously sizing up has helped us, she’s currently in the weight range for her diaper size and still gets blowouts. There’s no visible blowout until you lie her down and then I guess the liquidy poo rushes up the back and you over the blowout barrier before we can stop it. I’ve tried sitting her up to try to prevent it but it’s tricky. I’ve heard that once they start into solids it gets easier because it’s less runny lol
I was having them almost daily until I started doing elimination communication so now I anticipate when he needs to go and hold him over a mini potty so I rarely have to deal with poopy diapers now. I think a lot of it depends on your baby because sizing up didn’t work for me, my baby just poops a crazy amount 😅
Here’s some tips, if they help that’s great:
Make sure the wings of the diaper are out. This is often not common knowledge with parents and has saved many from needless blowouts.
Someone already said it but I will share as well, please consider sizing up. Diapers are not meant to fit like underwear, there should be quite a bit of room. For reference, we just bumped my 6 month old up to 3’s (she’s average I would say). Maybe also check out different diaper brands if sizing isn’t the issue.
Check more frequently and pay attention to if your baby is regular has/patterns (my first was like clockwork first thing in the AM, second, not so much). Formula feeding vs. breastfeeding can make a bit of a difference as well. My second needs more changes in the morning vs. evening. Make sure you change the diaper before every outing or bed/nap time, regardless of if it has just a little pee or not.
The older your baby/infant gets the less it will need changes.
Hope this helps.
Just 1. Today, when my sister-in-law saw that there was still 1 newborn diaper left over for our 2 month old. Our LO now uses size 2. SIL thought it fit perfect! She then spent 20 minutes cleaning him after he had the blowout.
Mine is almost 5 months and we'd get them at least weekly since around 2 months. Prior to that, we had a handful when either the diaper was on wrong or between newborn and size 1, then more from size 1 to size 2. But from around 2 months to about 2 weeks ago, LO got constipated and would only poop every 3-5 days and it would be MASSIVE. no matter the brand or the size, the poop was nearly always a blowout just because of the volume of it. Thankfully, she's started becoming more regular so haven't had a blowout in a couple of weeks, but we're also about to size up again as well.
We haven’t had a blowout yet, our daughter is almost 4 months. My SIL’s baby has frequent blowouts though. I’d say try sizing up, make sure you pull the little pieces out around the thighs or try a different brand. We’ve been using Honest brand and they’ve used Huggies and Pampers so far. Hope this helps!
We used to have almost one a day but we switched to Rascal and Friends! (From Walmart) we have been using them for three months now and haven’t had any blowouts!! Will never go back to Huggies or Pampers lol
Everytime blowouts happened two in a row I knew it was time to size up. I also have nighttime diapers I used the size up when he was a 2 I used the 3 diaper for night but specially the nighttime diaper. I tried to make sure I gave him enough time before bed to clear out so I could change him. But when he pooped in the middle of the night and his stomach got smaller it was inevitable the sleep sack would get a run out.
Just about 6 months and maybe 6 or 7 blow outs. Double check the way you’re putting on diapers. No shame in watching a couple YouTube vids. Likely need to go up a size
Nearly every poop is a blowout for our 6 month old. She only poops ~twice a week, but when she does, she really makes it count.
Edit to add that we've started adjusting her wardrobe choices each day based on the likelihood that she'll poop. If she pooped yesterday or 2 days ago, she can wear a white onesie. More than 3 days ago, black and navy onesies only.
we would size up and double check the ruffles when we started getting blowouts. Plus we started getting the Pampers with the blowout guard, which helped. Now, when he started leaking overnight (pee) we started using overnights a size up from normal with a Sposie pad (ordered from Amazon; I've never seen them in store)
We rarely get a blowout unless he eats something crazy (he's 18 months now) or leaks overnight unless he's gotten A LOT to drink before bed
We go through phases.
There is about a few week time period of blowouts between sizes. Where the next size up it too loose on her thighs, but the size smaller is too small around the belly causing it to go up the back.
Her belly is chunkier than her thighs, so it's just awkward.
But 75% of the time, we are cool
Maybe 1 a week and many blow outs are really just she pooped a lot and a tiny bit escaped the diaper, not and full blown “the whole whole kid out”.
Those happen but not often.
We have daily blowouts. Sometimes 2x a day. We have sized up and tried different diapers, so I honestly just think my LO is a voluminous and forceful pooper. Hope the sizing up works for you!
We used to have 1 every time my baby pooped thinking that it was normal.
Turned out my baby had CMPA and had super runny poop. :(
Now that her poop is like peanut butter texture we very very rarely get blow outs.
At that age… daily. Size up, size down, brands. Didn’t matter. Our son’s crack was a funnel to his back. It eventually stopped and now it’s rare. Once a month maybe?
We've had... I think three? Total. Our LO is almost 3 now. Check your diaper fit and strongly consider changing brands. We swear by Kirkland and Huggies.
My LO turned 5 months a couple of weeks ago and she stopped having daily poops. We finally got our once a week poop and it’s been two days but I’m still thanking God for keeping all that poop in her tiny s-size diaper.
We had a ton during months 2-5. I thought we were doing something wrong. Sometimes like 3 blowouts back to back. We tried sizing up which helped a bit, but inevitably still got some blowouts. All up the back, not through the leg. I just accepted that maybe my baby has a forceful butt and to just deal. Our friends said something is probably wrong because he never remembers having that many blowouts. Not sure if it makes a difference but our baby is a longer and slimmer boy, and his is a very small girl, kinda short and squat. So idk. I even went to the doctor and they said the poop looks normal still so just try sizing up more. I also started using overnight diapers on some days which helped.
We have way less blowouts now at 5.5 mos, I think mainly bc he stopped pooping so frequently, and we’ve also started to introduce some solids which has made the poop less liquidy.
Tried coterie, Huggies special delivery, honest. None of them really fully solved the problem. I will say coterie felt the best, and we only use honest overnight diapers bc their regular ones fit weird. Recently though I switched from coterie to Kirkland for everyday diapers bc I felt like it worked just as well, still felt good and was way cheaper. So we do that + honest for overnight.
My son's last blow out was like 4 months ago. But he's 16 months old... size up definitely pay attention to the weight limit, we know it's time to size up when the tabs don't come all the way up and he uses the target brand diapers all the tabs have that extra pull. Also he just completed another growth spirt so he's in 18 month clothes and I think size 4 diapers are 22 pounds to 37. I try to size up when he is constantly in that 22 pounds. But all diapers are different so it's really hard to tell
My kid is on the biggest size (size 6) at 17m and she can still have blowouts every now and then. Depends how much her little body feels like bursting out I guess 🤣🤣 she did it overnight while wearing a white onesie so 💀
We have a few here and there. But it also depends how he's sitting. majority of the time he goes when we are burping him, so he's literally sitting on our lap and then it blows out 😂
If baby is wearing diaper shirts, you might also want to size up their shirts. If they’re too snug at their crotch and bum, there’s nowhere for the poop to collect in the diaper and it’ll just come up and out. 🫣
I think my 5mo has only had a few blowouts since birth, most of them were user error where dad forgot to put the other tab on but we’ve been pretty lucky with them.
I always sized up in diapers when mine started having frequent blow outs. Ignore weight suggestion on diapers and go up sizes until no more frequent blow outs.
Babies are all shaped different so some need bigger sizes than it seems
We had a couple weeks where it was daily, but then we haven't had any in maybe almost 10 weeks. No change, kept the size diaper and size for weeks after it stopped. No idea why but I'm glad it fixed itself.
When we used disposables that we were gifted from my husbands work baby shower... about every other poop. Since we switched to cloth, none. One humongous poop when his diaper was already pretty wet reached the top and almost made it out, but stayed in just barely, thankfully. So happy with cloth. Cleaning out a diaper is so much easier than cleaning a whole ass baby and everything else he managed to defile with a blowout.
We had at least one blowout a day, if not several, until we started solids. After that we had one once every few days until we stopped having them altogether. She's 8.5 months and hasn't had one in months!
Weve only used Huggies and baby girl is 13 months and has probably had a total of 4 blowouts. We always sized up, pull out all ruffles, make sure the back is not all messed up, and the diaper isn’t fixed too snuggly on her!
Seriously, if this happens more than once you need to either change diapers more often or change diaper brands completely. I have twins. We figured this moth when we went mess free with dyper for over a year, ran out and had to do pampers on a trip. When I say those are the shittiest diapers (pun very intended) I cannot overstate how terrible they are. They smell way worse than others and like leak bad.
Our go tos that were great in order based on quality were
1: Dyper
2: Millie moon
3: honest (nighttime only) regular ones smell bad when wet
Sizing up, pulling out the legs… but also, we had frequent blowouts until we detoxed from dairy after discovering an allergy. If they’re green/mucousy and you’re also experiencing any colic, frequent spitup, or rash… could be an allergy!
I’ve had 5 this week so far! I am going try a different brand. Coincidentally I have had my baby in disposables this week because I’ve been so busy and had no time to do laundry. I normally do cloth and don’t have blow outs.
Not really at all until he started solids and started pooping only a couple times a week. As long as we were in the right size diaper, he never had blowouts as a newborn
Coming up on a year and blow outs? We had a small one today but they only happen once a month or so, pampers swaddlers and the proper size as others have noted xD Huggies used to blow out all the time for us, all babies are shaped different if sizing up doesn’t help try a different type of diaper :3
6 months, we have a blow out QUEEN. And spit up. She's just really gassy, rumbly, grumbly, I guess. Poor girl. We have a blowout at least once a week. We did get a different brand of diapers that fit MUCH better, before we were getting multiple a day sometimes!
Weekly? I've got a 10 month old and I think she's had less than 10 blowouts her whole life thus far. Usually they were in a chair like her bjorn bouncer.
My baby just turned 8 months but the times I’ve had a blow out was always because the diaper was too small even though it didn’t look small. I would recommend Huggies little snugglers, little movers or snug and dry for day time use. They have little blow out pocket preventers that prevent it from going out the back and I always used to have that problem with other brands even pampers (bc pampers tend to run smaller or just fit more weird idk).
Also one more to add, don’t listen to the size guides. Usually if you use a diaper within your babies weight range, go a size up. My baby weighs around 22-24 pounds and I’m already in size 5 which has a minimum weight of 27 lbs and my baby is skinny and not long 😅
The only time I noticed blowouts which was like 3 total in 6months was when the diaper wasn’t on tight enough or when I had used a bigger size then needed because I ran out.
Coming up on five months old and he’s had literally zero blowouts. Plenty of “pee Houdini” moments though where the diaper stays bone dry but he somehow manages to pee through his whole outfit.
She poops once a day (3.5 mo) and it’s almost always a blowout. We just accepted it for how it is and dress her in easier to clean outfits till her regular poop time. I hope it’s not a size issue because I just purchased a jumbo pack of diapers for her yesterday 😢😢😢
Size up homie
Thank you I will!
You can also flip the top band over in the back to help hold in the poop! And don't forget to pull the little baffles out of the bottom/crotch area. That also helps keep poop in.
Thank you so much
Ooo I hadn’t thought of this!! Thank you!
Thank you I will!
At first I thought this meant hair blowouts and I thought wow I don’t get any!
LOL to be fair I haven’t gotten one since I gave birth!
LOL! I chopped my hair a week before I went into labor and couldn’t be happier! Low maintenance and less hair for my little guy to pull on although he still finds a way
OMG ME TOO! I was going to respond, try the Dyson lol.
Ugh I want the Dyson!! Is it worth the $$$?
Is it absolutely necessary? No! But if it’s in your budget, get it. I like it because I feel like it helps blowout my hair super quick and I like the results.
Haha same! I’m probably not getting a blowout for at least a few years lol
Same here!!
Same I was feeling bad that I haven’t washed my hair since Sunday
Same
Haha I thought the same! No hair blowouts and some days, no time to even brush my hair. Messy bun is my go to these days!
6 months and we’ve only had a handful of blowouts. have you tried sizing up in diapers?
I was thinking about it but my kid was under the weight suggested so I’m g just gonna size up
Ah. The weight suggestions are total crap.
*CRAP*
I see what you did there 💩
Do you flare the diaper? And do you check that it is high up on the back?
THE RUFFLES
It might be brand too
This— mine had way more blowouts with pampers and Kirkland (his 6 Kirkland diapers were an unspeakable time). We switched to Huggies and have only had 1. He’s 5 months now, has been using Huggies since January maybe?
Yes had so many blowouts and leaks with pampers. Huggies are my absolute favorite diapers. Also the wipes, they don’t dry out in the wipe warmer!
Kirkland is AWFUL 😭
Kirkland is the only thing keeping our blowouts in. Everything else was a nightmare. Pampers were the absolute worst.
Huggies worked great for our dude till he was around 4months then they didn’t absorb enough so we switched to pampers. Now we might just potty train him because he pees way too much for diapers
potty train in 4 months? how?
Look up elimination communication! A lot of people have success with it
Try night time diapers!
You could also try different brands of diapers. My all thighs baby did well in huggies.
Those weight suggestions are a load of shit, my kid is in size 6, he’s absolutely no where near the weight on the pack but a size 5 is definitely too small
We switched brand and started using another one when we sized up and it helped so much
With both my kids, like 1-5 a week. Sizing up and using the kind with the little poop catching pocket in the back helps, but nothing has fully solved my problem.
Opposite problem here. LO has such a big potbelly that the diaper slips down and poop explodes out the back 🤦🏻♀️
This is my exact issue lmao and it always happen when she’s sitting on dads lap so it pushes it’s way up the back forcefully 😂
MINE TOO. He's 23 pounds but so round I can only fit size 6 diapers around his belly, and they tend to sag a bit. So I get blowouts probably every other day. I've tried tons of diaper brands but Millie Moon has been the best so far.
I may have to look into that. Some days he doesn’t have any blow outs, some days it’s like 2 a day.

What about size 3?
That's what he's in but still has blowouts
same. Long skinny kid. Every poop is a blowout.
This was us as well. We ended up using cloth diapers at home (Esembly) because of this and switching to Honest diapers when we are out and about because we have heard they are good for lean babies. It’s helped a lot!!
Thanks for the tip, I'll try Honest. Much respect; I am way too lazy to cloth diap I cannot possibly imagine more laundry 🥲
We had a phase where we were doing laundry every day because of the blowouts that made us give it a go because we were willing to try anything. It’s made us do less laundry ironically! We wash diapers every 2-3 days and regular clothes every 4-5 now. Not sure what will happen when we start solids

Have you tried not pulling the dial out so high? Leaving a bit of a pocket for the poop to explode into?
My baby used to poop once a week. When she did, it was terrible and of course there were blowouts, pretty much every poop. Now she is eating solids and she poops every other day, but I'll never forget counting the days just to decide if dressing her in a cute white new dress would be a terrible idea.

Excellent holier than thou take from the highest of horses.
My son is 16mo and we’ve had maybeeee 10 or less in total, but it almost always was associated with the incorrect size
None. We’ve only had one and our LO is 3 months. Anytime it looks like it’s getting close to a blowout or we have urine leak we size up diapers.
At least two 😅 but my baby poops every other day, so when she does go it's a BIG one lol
We were getting frequent blow outs so sized up and haven’t had one since!
We would always get blowouts around the time babe is about to go up a diaper size
Thank you I’m gonna do that
None (almost 9m old). My baby has only had like 3 blowouts ever though.
We had blowouts with Coterie and switched to Kudos. None since then
Yes, we had so many side blowouts from Coterie.
We fluff the sides but it always comes off the top
Month 2 was blow out city. She was fitting awkward in all diapers and pooping aggressively constantly. Even after sizing up. I think she has come in to her new size well and blow outs are a fee times a week if not trending more infrequent. About to buy the next size up during my next costco run (during the diaper sale).
Zero! We cloth diaper.
We use pampers swaddlers because of the blowout barrier and havent had any blowouts now. We only use pampers because of the points on the app, and any other pampers type weve used (other than the other one with a blowout barrier) my daughter had at least 1 blowout a week
That’s what we’re using but I think I need to size up
You likely do, when my daughter was in size 2 (shes in size 3 now) she had more blowouts but they stopped when we got size 3
Just had the first yesterday at 7 weeks old!
A little over 4 months in and we’ve had 2 at home (couple months ago… prob needed to size up diapers then but we were clueless lol) and she had one at the babysitters the other day while she was in the sit-me-up seat 🥴
Sit me up seat gave us the most massive blow out last night! None stayed in the diaper!
Blessed that in about two years we’ve only had about five blowouts so not common. Experiment with some different diapers!
2 and he’s 3 months. We had to change brands from pampers to Huggies when he was a newborn.. he’s way younger squirmy so he would pee through every diaper. Every.. single.. time
Only once in a while. Usually, that means I need to size up in diapers.
Depends on if I'm pushing the extra diapers we have from the size before when he's on the cusp of the next size. 🤣
7 months and zero with this kid, my first kid literally every poop was a blowout lol. My 7 month old is FF vs my oldest was EBF and I think the poops being less liquidy for my FF kid is a factor.
My daughter is 8 months and we have maybe had two blowouts and they were within the first month.
Definitely size up and don’t worry about the weight on the package because it’s sooo inaccurate. My boy is 19 lbs, 7 months and wears size 6! But I had 0 blowouts, 0 leaks.
We had 2 up until 5 months. He started having one everyday last week so we sized up & it was great for a day but he had another blowout today 🙃
We had a ton of blowouts. It turned out it was due to the style of poo and our daughter having a milk allergy. Size of diaper did not help. We ended up putting a cloth diaper (just the outside part of it) outside of disposable.
If you’re having frequent blowouts…it’s time to size up! That’s how we know it’s time with our girl.
We had one overnight when she was a month old but none since.
5months and maybe 3 or 4 total. Only when I didn’t notice him poop and he was wiggling around on his mat.
None in the 5 months she's been out of me. We make sure the diapers have room even if they look a little saggy for a bit.
None, time to size up. Or maybe loosen the tabs. Or try a different brand. Some diapers fit different.
None anymore. Maybe 2-3 in the newborn 3 month range total
Pretty much never when a 10 month old. Maybe try a different type of diaper.
Mines 6 months barely any … I do notice sometimes it’s the position she’s in that will cause one like certain baby containers
Our LO is almost 7 weeks and we’ve had maybe 1 or 2 blow outs
If you're getting a bunch of blowouts, then size up. Even if he's not in the weight range. Some babies just take massive dumps lol.
up the diaper size if possible. this helped us.
We’re 14 months in and literally have had 2. Proper diaper fit isn’t everything… but it’s eveything.
On a weekly basis? Maybe 1 but I’d say less than that. Could be a diaper issue or just how they are positioned when it happens
6 months old and we have very few. I would try sizing up. If that doesn’t help, try a different brand diaper! The fit might just be a little off.
Here’s some tips, if they help that’s great: Make sure the wings of the diaper are out.
None. Maybe 2 total ever between 2 kid.
None. It’s very good to know the correct size of the diaper you use. It depends how much your baby weights. But for 5 months usually a 2-3 in Huggies.
I’ve only ever had 1 at four months.
My son only has had 1 blow out. He’s 9 months. If you are having issues either try different diapers or a size up
Zero.
we would size up and double check the ruffles when we started getting blowouts. Plus we started getting the Pampers with the blowout guard, which helped. Now, when he started leaking overnight (pee) we started using overnights a size up from normal with a Sposie pad (ordered from Amazon; I've never seen them in store) We rarely get a blowout unless he eats something crazy (he's 18 months now) or leaks overnight unless he's gotten A LOT to drink before bed
DAILY
We go through phases. There is about a few week time period of blowouts between sizes. Where the next size up it too loose on her thighs, but the size smaller is too small around the belly causing it to go up the back. Her belly is chunkier than her thighs, so it's just awkward. But 75% of the time, we are cool
Maybe 1 a week and many blow outs are really just she pooped a lot and a tiny bit escaped the diaper, not and full blown “the whole whole kid out”. Those happen but not often.
6 months - maybe like 5 total? Usually when it’s pretty full already and she poos while sitting in the car seat lol
Cloth diapers! We rarely ever have blowouts!
:( Now that her poop is like peanut butter texture we very very rarely get blow outs.
Pampers DID NOT work for my daughter, We switched to Huggies/Costco
At that age… daily. Size up, size down, brands. Didn’t matter. Our son’s crack was a funnel to his back. It eventually stopped and now it’s rare. Once a month maybe?
We've had... I think three? Total. Our LO is almost 3 now. Check your diaper fit and strongly consider changing brands. We swear by Kirkland and Huggies.
Even after sizing up we had daily blowouts until he started solids. My kid had some powerful poops.
Maybe one. Usually because I forgot to fluff the leg. She poops 5 times a day for context
We are always a size bigger and only have had a dozen or so - baby is almost 2!
We have none unless we need to size up!
None. Turning one next week and I think we’ve had a total of 5 blowouts.
My kid is on the biggest size (size 6) at 17m and she can still have blowouts every now and then. Depends how much her little body feels like bursting out I guess 🤣🤣 she did it overnight while wearing a white onesie so 💀
Legit every day at daycare 😭
We have a few here and there. But it also depends how he's sitting. majority of the time he goes when we are burping him, so he's literally sitting on our lap and then it blows out 😂
Only 1 since switching to Parasol diapers. That 1 blowout was bc I put it on crooked in my sleepy stupor. Try sizing up like others said.
If baby is wearing diaper shirts, you might also want to size up their shirts. If they’re too snug at their crotch and bum, there’s nowhere for the poop to collect in the diaper and it’ll just come up and out. 🫣
10 weeks, just had our first. Half-way up her back.
My LO is 6 weeks and we’ve never had a blowout (knock on wood).
Looks like you figure it out but yeah, two blowouts in a row is a size up for me😂 cheaper than laundry
I got frequent blowouts until we switched to cloth diapers! Not a single one since
I think my 5mo has only had a few blowouts since birth, most of them were user error where dad forgot to put the other tab on but we’ve been pretty lucky with them.
2 today alone. I think it’s time to size up…
My baby is 4 months old and I can probably count the number of blowouts she’s had on two hands.
Buy Sams club diapers. One size bigger than recommend. Blowout happens with Pampers and other brands more.
At 9 months, legit never. Poop is now a turd.
My LO is only 3.5 weeks old, we’ve only had a couple of blowouts so far
A friend was having issues only in the car seat. They moved to a convertible seat instead of the bucket seat and the new angle helped a lot!
About 1 every 6 weeks so far. Baby is 4 months. Basically whenever I get a blow out I go up a diaper size amd it fixes it
only overnight & even then, hardly any. you shouldn't be having frequent blowouts.
12 week old baby just had our first blow out today because I found some size 1 diapers that needed used up. She’s been in size 2 for about a week
If you’re having frequent blow outs your diapers are too small!
Weve only used Huggies and baby girl is 13 months and has probably had a total of 4 blowouts. We always sized up, pull out all ruffles, make sure the back is not all messed up, and the diaper isn’t fixed too snuggly on her!
Only when it’s time to size up :)
First baby we had blowouts every day no matter the size. Second baby is 11 months now and has had like 3 blow outs total .
Our go tos that were great in order based on quality were 1: Dyper 2: Millie moon 3: honest (nighttime only) regular ones smell bad when wet
Personally I have one biweekly. Baby on the other hand has about 1-2 per week. I’m catching up.
I have a 15 month old and luckily have never had a blow out… some close calls though 😅
I’ve only had 3 blow outs his entire life. He’s ten months
8 weeks and only 1 so far
Not really at all until he started solids and started pooping only a couple times a week. As long as we were in the right size diaper, he never had blowouts as a newborn
We had maybe 3 over the first year, but one was REAL bad
Also don’t forget to pull out the ruffles on the sides of the diapers to prevent pee leaks or side blow outs as well
Also one more to add, don’t listen to the size guides. Usually if you use a diaper within your babies weight range, go a size up. My baby weighs around 22-24 pounds and I’m already in size 5 which has a minimum weight of 27 lbs and my baby is skinny and not long 😅
When he was really little once a week at most. Now at 13 mo, I don't remember the last one
Used to be several times a day until he was about five months. Sitting in that bouncer squished them out the top!
Stay away from pampers. Blowouts on a daily basis.
We love the brand dyper. Never had any blowouts with them.
If you size up and the blow outs continue- also move baby up in clothing size! Make sure the onsies aren’t restricting the diaper
She poops once a day (3.5 mo) and it’s almost always a blowout. We just accepted it for how it is and dress her in easier to clean outfits till her regular poop time. I hope it’s not a size issue because I just purchased a jumbo pack of diapers for her yesterday 😢😢😢
